People
are
informed
in
accordance
with
the
proclamation
for
the
executive,
united
states,
all
slaves
are
free.
This
involves
absolute
equality
of
personal
rights
and
rights
of
property
between
former
masters
and
slaves.
Their
connection
heretofore
existing
between
them
become
that
between
employer
and
hired
labor,
the
free
are
informed
to
remain
their.

I
am
oz
roberts,
one
of
the
co-chairs
of
the
celebration
and
welcome
to
this
morning's
press
conference
to
announce
all
of
the
exciting
events
that
we
have
been
meticulously
planning
to
commemorate
the
juneteenth
celeb
jubilee
celebration
here
in
the
city
of
columbus
georgia
this
week.
Our
theme
for
this
inaudible
team
celebration
is
from
the
african
diaspora
to
our
destiny,
and
that
is
a
truly
powerful
theme
and
one
that
will
weave
throughout
this
week's
events.
F
We
know
that
we
don't
get
anything
started
without
a
prayer,
so
if
you'll
please
welcome,
thank
you
rob
so,
if
you're
pleased
welcome
to
to
give
offers
prayer
for
our
inaugural
journey
celebration
from
the
saint
james,
amy,
church,
pastor,
donna
baker.
G
Let
us
pray
o
gracious
and
merciful
god
we
come
before
you
this
morning,
first
and
foremost
thanking
you
for
your
love,
your
grace
and
your
tender
mercy.
Thank
you
for
your
this
awesome
opportunity
in
the
city
of
columbus
georgia
to
acknowledge
and
celebrate
juneteenth
157
years
later.
We
thank
you
for
the
knowledge
that
all
slaves
were
free,
especially
those
who
failed
to
be
notified
in
1862..
G
Now,
god
we
invoke
your
omnipresence
in
this
space
reign
freely
over.
All
of
these
people
make
your
presence
known
through
your
protective
power,
bless
now
the
visionary,
the
convener
program,
participants
and
attendees-
oh
god,
our
god.
How
excellent
is
your
name,
and
it
is
in
that
name
the
matchless
name
of
jesus,
that
we
pray,
amen.
F
F
I'd
like
to
like
to
thank
our
program
participants
this
morning
for
in
our
reenactment
they
were
jeff
seymour
james,
hayes,
glenn
palmer
and
our
horsemen
daniel
hunter
brandon,
henderson
and
demetrius
stapleton
from
the
stables
at
callaway
gardens.
Thank
you
so
much
guys.
F
F
Thank
you
and
the
springer
is
also
offering
a
25
discount
on
your
tickets.
If
you
use
the
code
juneteenth
when
purchasing
your
tickets,
the
show
is
on
our
calendar,
the
juneteenth
calendar
for
friday,
so
we'd
like
to
pack
the
house
out
on
friday,
if
you
can
so
call
and
get
your
tickets
for
friday
night,
but
the
code
I
believe,
is
good
ali.
Is
that
correct
for
the
entire
run
where's
that
one
yes
for
the
entire
run.
Thank
you.
Thank
you.
Thanks
for
the
screening.
H
E
F
Juneteenth
short
for
june
19th
held
commemorations,
featuring
music,
barbecues
press
services
and
other
activities
that
were
that.
We
will
also
have
for
us
this
week
here
in
columbus
and
you'll,
hear
about
that
shortly.
As
black
people
migrated
from
the
texas
to
other
parts
of
the
country.
The
juneteenth
tradition
spread
in
its
celebration
of
freedom.
Juneteenth
is
a
day
that
should
be
recognized
by
all
americans,
and
that
is
why,
in
june
of
2021,
president
biden
consecrated
juneteenth
as
our
nation's
newest
holiday.
F
The
columbus
civic
center
will
be
one
of
the
venues,
among
others
in
the
city
that
will
host
events
during
this
first
unified
unity
week
and
juneteenth
celebration.
Starting
today,
with
this
press
conference
on
june
13th
was
events
culminating
on
june,
the
26th.
F
F
For
one
the
star
represents
texas,
the
lone
star
state.
It
was
where,
in
galveston
texas
in
1865,
where
the
union
soldiers
informed
the
country's
last
remaining
enslaved
people
that
they
were
free,
but
the
star
goes
beyond
texas.
The
star
also
represents
the
freedoms
of
african
americans
in
all
50
states.
F
F
So
I
hope
this
gives
you
a
better
understanding
of
the
symbolism
of
the
juneteenth
flag
at
this
time.
I
would
like
to
introduce
one
of
the
co-chairs
and
one
of
the
initiators
and
inspiration
for
the
juneteenth
celebration
here
in
columbus.
Please
welcome
councilwoman
of
district
4
toya
tucker,
and
she
will.
B
H
The
same
similar
vision,
god
gives
you
what
you
need
when
you
need
it
and
as
you
see
it's
evident
with
that
beautiful
color,
purple
crew
that
came
out
and
we
gonna
pack
it
out,
sir.
We
gonna
pack
it
out,
but
we
have
so
many
people
that
came
to
be
a
part
of
this
inaugural
juneteenth,
this
inaugural
unity
week
in
juneteenth
jubilee.
H
We
are
so
thankful
for
all
of
you.
This
would
not
be
possible.
First
of
all,
with
the
dedicated
leaders
in
the
city,
our
mayor
mayor,
skip
henderson
and
our
wonderful
city
manager,
isaiah
hewley.
I
appreciate
them
because
they
allow
me
to
be
me,
and
I
know
I
could
be
a
handful,
but
I
appreciate
you
all
for
allowing
me
to
actually
work
and
bring
something
for
all
of
us
to
enjoy.
So
please
come
up
because
you
are
the
next
ones
up
to
speak.
The
mayor
and
the
city
manager.
I
Good
morning,
thank
you,
council
tucker.
What
this
is
really
an
incredible
day
and
by
the
way
I've
gotta
leave
here
in
a
few
minutes,
because
I
got
to
go,
get
my
tickets
make
sure
I'm
there.
So
what
an
amazing
amazing
performance
an
incredible
way
to
start
this
with
the
reenactment.
I
It's
you
know,
I
shouldn't
be
surprised
at
how
great
this
is
because
of
the
people
who
were
involved.
Certainly
counselor
woman
toy
tucker
has
been
a
driving
force,
but
oz
and
rob,
and
all
of
the
committee
members
that
worked
so
hard
to
make
this
special
and
we
were
really
excited
because
in
other
communities
I
know
they
do
a
juneteenth
celebration
juneteenth
on
a
day
that
wasn't
good
enough
for
columbus.
We
decided
to
do
a
unity
week
and
the
key
there
is
that
we
want
to
bring
together
all
cultures,
all
backgrounds,
people
from
different
nations.
I
I
So
I'm
not
going
to
speak
much
longer
because
it's
a
little
warm
I'm
going
to
see
if
I
can
make
the
city
city
manager
sweat
here,
but
I
also
want
to
recognize.
I
don't
know
how
many
other
elected
officials
we
have.
I
know
state
representative
carolyn
hugley
is
here:
we
want
to
acknowledge
her
and
I've
missed
it.
Are
there
any
other
elected
officials
here
that
I
missed
well
we're
grateful
for
all
of
you,
all
of
you
being
here,
I'm
going
to
read
this
proclamation
that
is
being
issued
on
this
day.
I
To
the
340
000
people
that
live
in
our
region,
because
this
is
a
multi-regional
event,
we
want
to
draw
people
from
across
the
river
as
well.
So
the
prodigal
nation
reads
as
follows:
says,
whereas
on
june
19,
1865
the
words
the
emancipation
proclamation
and
the
surrender
of
confederate
general
robert
e
lee,
the
union
general
ulysses,
s
grant
officially
reached
enslaved
people
in
galveston,
texas
and
whereas
upon
arriving
in
galveston
union
general,
gordon
granger
delivered
his
general
order.
Number
three,
which
you
have
already
heard.
So
I
won't
read
again,
whereas.
K
J
B
J
But
thank
you
to
our
president
of
the
united
states
of
america,
joe
biden
on
june
17
2021
signed
the
national
independence
day
act
declaring
juneteenth
in
the
united
states
of
america,
but
then
immediately
after
that,
georgia
tucker
came
forward
with
a
resolution
saying
we
got
to
do
this
in
columbus,
georgia.
We
got
to
make
it
a
holiday
in
columbus,
georgia.
She
brought
the
resolution
unanimous
approval
by
the
mayor
and
council
and
we
have
juneteenth
day
juneteenth
week
in
columbus,
georgia
and
after
seeing
what
happened
here
today.
L
Good
morning,
I
want
to
start
off
thanking
oz
roberts
for
having
us
here.
Many
of
you
might
know
that
he's
been
such
an
integral
part
of
the
miss
georgia
organization
for
years
and
years
and
years.
So
thank
you
so
much
for
inviting
us
here
today,
we're
so
proud
to
be
in
attendance
at
today's
inaugural
celebration,
representing
the
miss
georgia,
scholarship
competition
organization,
we're
excited
to
call
columbus,
our
home
and
we've
just
begun.
Like
I
said,
our
77th
miss
georgia
competition.
L
What
an
honor
to
be
kicking
off
the
first
annual
juneteenth
jubilee
unity
week,
and
how
wonderful
is
it
that
it
coincides
with
our
annual
competition
as
well?
The
miss
america
organization
celebrates
diversity
and
inclusion
by
being
the
largest
provider
of
scholarships
to
women
in
the
country,
and
we
invite
you
to
continue
your
celebrations
with
us
at
the
river
center
as
we
award
more
than
70
thousand
dollars
in
scholarships
to
accomplished
talented,
smart,
beautiful,
diverse
women
from
across
the
entire
state
of
georgia.
L
F
All
right,
thank
you,
carson
and
megan
and
again,
if
you
have
an
opportunity
to
get
to
the
river
center
to
see
the
miss
georgia
competition.
As
they
said,
the
competition
involves
lots
and
lots
of
incredible
women
from
acro
across
the
state
that
have
done
some
amazing
things
in
their
communities
and
again
so,
which
is
bringing
also
lots
of
people
from
every
corner
of
the
state
to
columbus
this
week.
So
thank.
F
And
carson
for
coming
now,
who
you've
all
been
waiting
for
to
give
us
details
of
all
the
exciting
things
that
will
be
happening
this
week,
that
we'll
be
able
to
celebrate
here
in
columbus.
I
finally
refer
to
them
as
rob
squared.
F
K
As
you
all
already
know,
eyes
sure
knows
how
to
show
up
and
show
out,
so
I'm
gonna
be
quick
because
it
is
hot.
I
was
light-skinned
at
seven
o'clock
this
morning,
so
we're
gonna
make
sure
that
we
keep
it
rolling
for
you
guys,
but
I
just
want
to
take
a
second
to
thank
the
juneteenth
committee,
toyah
tucker,
mrs
round
tree,
dr
roundtree,
the
callaway
gardens
aflac,
the
sheriff's
department.
K
We
just
want
to
thank
all
of
those
who
have
contributed
to
come
together
to
put
something
like
this
on.
This
would
not
have
been
done
if
it
wasn't
for
the
community
members
being
able
to
be
on
the
same
accord
all
for
one
goal.
We
started
a
meeting
last
july
and
here
we
are,
but
what
we
wanted
to
do
was
to
start
this
week
off
with
a
bang,
and
I
think
that
we
successfully
done
that
with
all
of
you.
All's
participation,
because
I
think
it
leads
up
to
what
we
have
for
the
rest
of
the
week.
K
So
I'm
going
to
be
really
quick
about
what
we've
got
coming
up
so
tomorrow
we
are
going
to
actually
have
our
economic
empowerment
opportunity
from
12
p.m,
to
5
p.m.
I'm
gonna!
Let
rob
scott
talk
a
little
bit
about
that.
To
give
you
guys
a
little
bit
more
details
on
what's
going
to
be
taking
place
that
day.
N
K
June
15th,
starting
at
6,
30
we're
going
to
have
the
oral
history
presentation
at
the
mildred,
terry
library,
on
640
veterans
parkway.
So
please
come
out
because
one
of
the
things
that
we
wanted
to
make
sure
that
we
stayed
true
throughout
this
entire
celebration
is
the
educational
components
behind
juneteenth.
So
you'll
learn
a
little
bit
more
in
detail
about
juneteenth,
with
visual
and
illustrative
examples
of
what
juneteenth
means
through
arts
and
crafts
and
we'll
have
stations
set
up.
K
We're
going
to
have
a
celebration
of
art
and
fashion
at
5
30
at
the
macon
road
public
library.
I
just
wanted
to
shout
out
the
library
staff
and
alan
they've
done
a
tremendous
job
this
week
and
preparing.
I
think
you
guys
are
going
to
be
amazed
at
the
art
illustration
that
we
have
curated
by
kenneth
green.
I
think
it's
going
to
be
fantastic.
We
definitely
don't
want
you
guys
to
miss
it.
It's
presented
by
aflac.
K
There
will
be
food,
there
will
be
food,
there
will
be
food,
so
definitely
come
out
thursday
evening
and
then
on
friday,
we're
going
to
have
our
food
truck
friday.
It's
going
to
kind
of
kick
off
our
celebration
weekend.
That's
going
to
start
at
12
o'clock,
so
you'll
be
able
to
come
down
to
the
columbus
civic
center,
we'll
have
various
food
trucks
and
trailers
set
up
for
display
of
great
delicacies
from
around
the
city.
K
Purple
I'm
going
to
be
there,
so
I
what
they
say,
don't
meet
me.
There
beat
me
there.
Okay,
so
that's
gonna
be
friday
at
7
30
at
the
springer
shout
out
to
keith
over
at
the
springer
for
working
with
us
throughout
this
week
to
make
sure
that
we
can
make
that
possible
on
saturday
is
going
to
be
our
jubilee
day.
It's
going
to
start
at
10
a.m
and
it's
going
to
go
all
the
way
to
about
9
00
p.m.
So
that's
kind
of
our
festival
day.
K
N
K
K
We're
going
to
have
our
juneteenth
praise
fest,
so
it's
going
to
start
at
2
o'clock
yeah.
We
made
it
at
2
o'clock,
so
you
can
go
to
church
but
after
you
come
to
church,
come
on
down
back
to
the
civic
center
and
celebrate
with
us
with
food
trucks,
and
we
got
various
gospel
performances
that
are
going
to
be
taking
place
and
also
we've
been
able
to
get
some
of
the
pastors
and
reverends
from
around
the
city
to
come
in
and
just
give
a
little
bit
of
a
day
of
praise
and
worship
on
our
last
day.
K
Seven
days
right.
So
this
is
historic
and
we've
talked
about
this
throughout
our
entire
meetings.
Yeah
we've
done
one
day,
events
here
in
columbus,
but
to
do
seven
days
of
events
to
celebrate.
This
is
historic.
So
the
committee
is
historic
and
us
coming
together.
You
all
are
historic
and
sharing
this
moment
with
us,
and
we
just
hope
that
it
continues
not
just
to
be
a
just
to
be
a
catalyst
and
to
show
how
our
community
can
come
together
for
one
goal
and
be
able
to
accomplish
a
great
task
for
the
community.
So.
K
Going
to
be
the
day
of
celebration
and
juneteenth
bike
tour,
it's
going
to
start
at
9
30
a.m
at
the
prince
hall
masonic
temple.
So
this
tour
is
going
to
go
around
the
black
historic
trail
around
the
city,
with
different
markers
and
at
each
markers,
we're
going
to
understand
what
those
markers
represent
and
how
true
they
are
to
columbus.
So
we
got
a
full
week
plan
so
every
night
this
week
I
need
you
guys
to
get
your
rests.
K
And
on
the
26th
on
the
26th
june
26th
we
presented
by
dragonfly
trails,
we
will
have
the
unveiling
at
the
ymca
aj
mcclung
building
for
the
mural
that
we've
been
working
on
for
over
a
year
and
a
half
for
the
community.
So
I
definitely
want
you
guys
to
make
sure
you
put
that
on
