A
A
A
Connections,
I
am
your
host
David
Britton.
We
have
been
doing
a
recurring
segment
on
job
opportunities
in
our
area.
Now,
I
have
with
me,
Mrs
Mariah
Thomas,
with
the
human
resource
department
at
the
Columbus,
consolidated
government
and
she's,
going
to
tell
us
about
a
career,
fair,
that's
coming
up
that
you
guys
do
not
want
to
miss.
Welcome
back
to
the
show
Mrs
Thomas
Thanks,
how
you.
A
B
So
we
have
the
Columbus
State
University
is
having
one
Columbus,
Technical
College
as
well
as
Fort
Benning.
Now
the
first
one
will
they're
on
the
same
day:
September
27th,
so
either
one
if
you're,
not
a
student
at
either
Columbus
State
or
Columbus
Tech,
it's
okay!
You
can
either
go
to
talk
to
some
of
the
employers
or
go
to
actually
enroll
and
I
just
recommend
both.
So
they
are
at
10
A.M
until
2,
and
then
the
one
in
Fort
Benning
is
for
our
military
spouses.
Okay,.
A
B
A
B
We
do
have
a
lot
of
jobs
just
for
anyone.
As
you
know,
their
entry
level
positions
that
a
college
student
can
partake
in
most
of
the
positions
I
believe
are
considered
entry-level
positions.
There
are
some
executive
level
positions
that
we're
still
in
Need
for
might
not
be
for
our
college
students,
but
maybe
for
those
military
spouses.
Maybe
they
can
fill
into
those
positions.
One
thing
that
we
have
been
talking
about
at
Human
Resources
how
to
bridge
the
gap
between
our
colleges
and
the
city
government
right
right.
B
B
Because
we
have
going
to
Columbus
State,
we
have
a
lot
of
people
coming
from
Atlanta
and
surrounding
areas
and
I
know.
I
come
from
a
small
town,
and
those
small
town
areas
are
also
still
coming
to
Columbus.
I
have
a
couple
of
people
that
I
know
from
my
hometown
that
are
still
trickling
to
this
area,
but
usually,
if
they
can't
get
a
job
in
this
area,
they'll
end
up
going
back
home
or
going
elsewhere
right,
so
we're
just
trying
to
figure
out
how
to
keep
them
here.
Gotcha.
A
Now
one
thing
we
talked
about
last
time:
you're
here
is
the
different
areas
within
the
city
government,
whether
you're
from
I.T
to
you
know
Public
Works,
to
forestry,
to
conservation,
to
administrative
jobs.
There's
some
of
everything,
Parks
and
Recreation
I
didn't
realize
till
I
got
here
how
lucrative
just
Parks
and
Recreation
is
and
how
you
can
rise
through
the
ranks
in
there.
So
there
are
a
lot
of
different
areas
in
a
lot
of
different
places
where
no
matter
what
your
your
Niche
is,
there's,
probably
something
here
for
you
to
do
exactly.
B
And
to
think
about
Parks
and
Recreation,
there
are
you
know
when
you
think
about
Parks,
you
think
about
the
actual
areas,
those
Park
areas.
You
know
you
have
those
maintenance
positions,
but
you
also
have
the
recreational
areas
like
the
basketball
courts,
and
you
also
have
you
know
you
do
need
some
people
in
the
offices
working
on
payroll,
so
there's
admin
positions
in
all
of
our
departments.
Even
if
there's
a
public
works
where
you
know
for
sure
you
know,
there's
those
waste
equipment
operator
positions,
there
has
to
be
someone
in
an
office
to
work.
B
We
actually
have
a
waste
disposable
manager
position
open.
There
are
a
total
of
two
manageable
managerial
positions.
Open
with
public
works
right
now,
so
that's
your
executive
level
positions
that
you
have
so
it's
very
Broad
in
each
department.
So
there's
something
for
literally
everyone.
Even
if
you
go
to
school
for
business
and
you're,
not
thinking
about
public
works
or
Parks
and
Recreation
or
Metro,
there
may
be
a
position
there
where
you
can
use
your
business
expertise.
A
And
so
many
people
moved
through
the
government,
so
you
may
go
to
one
place
to
get
your
foot
in
the
door
and
realize
that
maybe
there's
another
apartment
that
can
better
another
department
that
can
better
use
your
strength.
It
happens
a
lot
and
that's
something.
That's
definitely
doable
as
well.
Right.
B
Right,
you
might,
you
might
even
even
coming
from
Columbus,
State
or
any
type
of
college
that
we
have
surrounding.
You
may
start
at
an
entry
level
position.
That's
only
like
a
G10
Physicians.
Those
are
about
13
an
hour.
You
know,
even
though
you're
starting
there,
for
example,
I
started
working
I,
don't
remember
my
salary,
but
HR
Tech
won,
and
it
wasn't
even
in
my
career
field,
which
was
Communications
but
now
as
I've
gotten
promoted
within
I
graduated
Columbus
State
in
2019..
B
B
A
How
it
really
uses
your
strengths,
and
sometimes
you
get
into
a
job
that
you
may
feel
you
know,
I,
don't
know
if
this
is
for
me,
but
what
you
really
get
into
it.
You
realize
you
know
you're
doing
those
communication,
things
and
you're
doing
those
things
that
are
really
part
of
you
and
you're
and
you're
learning
more
strengths
as
well.
B
I
have
found
that
the
actual
employees
sometimes
makes
the
position
different,
because
you
may
have
someone
in
a
tech
position
that
does
strictly
what
it
is
that
it's
in
the
job
description,
but
you
may
put
someone
in
there.
That's
thinking.
Okay,
my
background
in
Communications,
or
my
background
have
been
a
business-
tells
me
that
this
will
work
for
this
task,
so
I
have
found
even
watching
other
executive
positions
come
in
and
out.
I
have
noticed
how
different
this
position
looks
as
more
people
come
in.
B
So
that
really,
if
you
look
at
a
job
description
and
you
see
what
you
can
do
and
you're
thinking
about
other
integrative
ways
and
creative
ways,
and
we
at
the
city,
we
really
appreciate
people
who
can
really
think
on
their
feet
and
change
what
needs
to
be
changed,
because
you
can't
go
into
a
job
and
think
everything
is
perfect,
because
if
not,
we
want
people
to
come
in
who
are
thinking
outside
of
the
box
to
maybe
teach
you
know
where
you
can.
So
it
depends
on
the
person.
B
Well,
I
would
say
if
you
see
one
of
our
Career
Fairs,
you
can
always
plan
ahead
by
going
to
www.columbusga.gov
careers
and
apply
so
that
way.
When
you
come
and
talk
to
me
or
come
and
talk
to
one
of
my
co-workers,
you
can
say:
hey
I've
already
applied
for
this
position
and
just
come
prepared,
knowing
what
positions
plural
that
you
would
want
to
apply
for
and
what
they
need
and
kind
of.
B
Let
me
know
exactly
what
you're
looking
for,
so
that,
if
it's,
whatever
Department
I,
can
walk
you
over
to
the
table,
if
they're
present
introduce
you
or
I'll
I'll
know
exactly
okay.
This
person
comes
prepared
so
as
soon
as
I
get
to
my
office
or
if
I
have
my
computer,
there
I'll
go
ahead
and
refer
is
quick
and
simple
for
these
hiring
events.
B
A
We'll
be
seeing
we're
going
to
bring
you
these
segments
continually
because
they
want
to
have
good
people.
We
know
there
are
great
people
out
there
that
are
looking
for
that
opportunity.
So
again
visit
any
of
these
three
Career
Fairs
I
guarantee
you.
You
will
find
something
that
fits
your
desire
thanks
for
watching.
This
is
Columbus
connections.
