A
Welcome
to
Columbus
connections:
I
am
your
host
David
Britt.
Today,
I
am
underdressed,
but
I
do
have
on
the
right
colors,
because
we're
talking
about
crimson
and
cream
we're
talking
about
red
and
white,
we're
talking
about
the
men
of
Kappa
Alpha
Phi
fraternity
incorporated,
but
we're
not
talking
about
them,
we're
talking
about
what
they're
doing
and
where
they
bringing
into
the
community.
Now
I
have
one
of
the
representatives,
a
close
personal
friend
of
my
own
mr.
Jason
Patterson.
Welcome
to
the
show
thank.
B
B
Of
course,
people
think
about
fraternities
and
they
think
about
the
first
thing
they
think
about
is
parties
and
drinking
and
having
a
good
time,
but
fraternities
are
a
whole
lot
more
than
that,
the
fraternity
and
Kappa
Alpha
side
we're
focused
on
providing
feedback
to
the
community
about
upcoming
events,
we're
trying
to
educate
the
community
we're
trying
to
better
the
community
we're
trying
to
mentor
not
only
our
students
at
Columbus
State,
but
the
kids
that
are
here
in
the
valley
in
high
school
elementary
school.
We
do
a
lot
of
mentoring
programs.
A
B
As
I
was
saying,
is
a
mentorship
program
that
we've
initiated
throughout
Kaplan
worldwide,
but
Kappa
league
is
designed
to
mentor
young
guys
that
are
in
high
school
and
try
to
show
them
a
better
way
to
be
a
better
citizen
within
their
community.
They
go
on
different
trips.
They
do
education
like
around
Martin
Luther
King.
They
serve
the
underprivileged
during
Thanksgiving
and
Christmas.
B
Do
have
a
scholarship
program
every
year,
our
chapter
Columbus
alumni,
gives
away
scholarships
to
individuals
that
are
about
to
pursue
their
college
career.
This
year
we
gave
away
two
scholarships:
both
were
$500
apiece
and
we've,
probably
given
away
over
$10,000
in
scholarship
money,
and
this
is
initiative
that
we
do
every
year
and
we'll
be
looking
to
continue
to
do
it
as
time
passes
off
and.
A
You
see
bringing
a
lot
of
it
is
not
so
much
telling
you
to
join
this
organization,
but
it's
just
a
show.
We
have
so
many
different
people
in
the
community,
whether
it's
individual
or
collectively
doing
great
things.
Now,
one
of
the
things
that
you
all
have
coming
up
that
we
all
have
coming
up
is
something
that's
going
to
be
a
great
economic
impact
to
Columbus
talk
about
that.
What.
B
We
have
been
blessed
to
have
coming
up
next
month,
actually
September
15th
within
our
fraternity.
We
have
a
lot
of
different
leadership,
training
academies,
a
lot
of
mentorship
programs
designed
to
reach
not
only
our
undergraduates,
but
our
alumni
brothers
as
well,
and
what
we've
been
blessed
to
have
coming
up
next
month
is
our
sea
Roger,
Wilson,
Leadership
Conference.
B
Now,
as
I
said
earlier,
you
know
a
lot
of
times,
people
think
of
fraternities
and
sororities
in
a
certain
light,
but
actually
our
fraternities
are
number
one
aimed
at
achievement
and
we're
also
aimed
at
providing
leadership
training
so
in
our
sea,
Roger
Wilson,
Leadership
Conference.
It's
aimed
at
teaching
our
young
undergraduates
how
to
become
leaders
not
only
within
the
fraternity
but
within
the
community.
A
B
This
is
one
of
the
things
we'll
be
working
on
as
well.
How
many
people
have
we
expected
we're
now
us
having
this
see:
Roger
Wilson,
Leadership
Conference,
our
fraternity
is
broken
down
geographically
by
different
provinces,
and
here
in
Columbus,
we're
in
what's
called
the
southeastern
progress,
and
so
that
would
encompass
Georgia
and
South
Carolina.
So
at
this
conference,
all
of
the
active
chapters
undergraduate
and
alumni
from
the
universities
between
Georgia
and
South
Carolina
will
be
here
in
town.
So
we're
looking
to
welcome
about
300
or
so
brothers
in
town
that
weekend.
A
All
over
the
southeast
from
Georgia
and
South
Carolina.
Do
you
know
how
many
colleges
we
have
in
Georgia?
Don't
know
how,
if
you
know
how
many
colleges
are
in
South
Carolina,
but
we're
talking
a
big
economic
impact.
A
lot
of
people
coming
down
took
a
whole
lot
of
brothers
in
the
hopes
that
they'll
come
and
see
Columbus
and
what
it
has
to
offer
and
want
to
do
it
here
continuously
right.
A
B
What
happens
is
the
conference
is
on
a
rotation
but
a
lot
of
times.
The
decision
is
made
based
on
how
your
chapter
is
taking
care
of
business.
There
are
things
that
we're
doing,
and
so
right
now
we're
moving
in
the
right
direction.
We're
trying
to
check
all
the
boxes
as
far
as
a
chapter
and
our
provenance
has
taken
note
of
that
and
so
they've.
Given
us
the
opportunity
to
host
this
conference
so.
A
B
One
of
the
things
that
we're
trying
to
show
is
being
that
the
conference
is
aimed
at
mentoring,
alumni
brothers
and
undergraduate
brothers
as
well,
we'll
be
hosting
the
conference
on
the
campus
of
Columbus
State
University,
and
we
I
think
we
both
can
say
that
Columbus
State
is
a
hidden
gem
me
being
from
the
Atlanta
area,
and
I
came
to
school
here
and
I'm
still
here.
So
that
has
something
to
say
right.
B
So
what
we're
trying
to
do
number
one
is
show
off
our
great
University,
also
we'll
be
trying
to
show
off
the
City
of
Columbus
as
well,
we'll
be
having
some
small
events
for
the
brothers
down
at
our
frat
house.
Downtown
our
alumni
fraternity
house
and
we'll
also
be
encouraging
the
brothers
to
check
out
all
the
things
that
are
offered
downtown
right.
A
B
A
Lot
of
great
people
doing
a
lot
of
great
things
and,
as
you
see,
whenever
these
organizations
get
together
and
hopes
these
things,
it
brings
a
great
economic
impact
to
Columbus.
You
know,
not
only
do
they
have
great
events
but
they're
mentoring,
children,
mentoring,
young
adults,
mentoring
and
teaching
the
growing
and
go
to
college,
it's
all
about
us
all
being
better
with
ourselves
and
for
ourselves.
