A
A
Welcome
to
Columbus
connections:
I
am
your
host
David
Brit,
and
we
have
got
a
lot
of
ground
to
cover
today,
so
we're
gonna
just
get
started.
God's
well,
grater
got
somebody
getting
ready
to
finish
that
area
of
high
school
going
off
to
a
secondary
and
they
don't
really
know
what
they
want
to
do
or
how
they're
gonna
do
it.
A
A
B
Gear
up
Georgia's,
a
new
initiative
for
Georgia
is
actually
a
nationwide
program,
but
Georgia
is
in
its
second
year
and
Columbus
State
University
as
well
as
Columbus
Tech,
are
our
local
partners
and
basically
the
program
is
stands
for
gaining
early
awareness
and
readiness
for
undergraduate
programming.
So,
as
you
mentioned,
12th
graders
in
particular
would
be
interested
in
this
program,
but
it's
actually
modeled
in
a
cohort
type
of
program.
Last
year
they
started
with
seventh
graders.
All
those
seventh
graders
are
our
eighth
graders
this
year.
So
you
started
on
with
start
gotcha
early.
B
So
our
eighth
graders
are
the
group
that
we
will
be
working
with
and
we
continue
to
work
with
them
throughout
high
school
into
the
first
year
of
post-secondary
education.
So
no
we're
not
waiting
until
they're
seniors.
We
want
to
start
working
with
them
early,
while
they're
in
middle
school
start
getting
their
minds.
You
know
thinking
about
college
post-secondary
careers
so
that
they
can
kind
of
map
their
way
out.
Then.
A
B
We
have
some
different
program
services
that
we
have
to
administer.
We
have
five
schools
here
locally,
that
are
part
of
the
gear
up
program:
that's
Baker
middle
school,
Eddy,
East
Columbus
for
in
rock
child,
so
we're
working
with
those
five
schools
in
just
the
eighth
graders,
only
the
eighth
graders,
and
we
have
different
programming
like
financial
aid
workshops
for
the
parents.
B
The
part
about
this
program
that
I
love
the
most
is
the
fact
that
it
has
a
parental
component,
because
you
can
preach
all
day
long
to
the
children
about
what
they
need
to
do,
but
their
parents
also
need
to
be
aware,
so
they
can
reinforce
what
we're
saying,
and
so
they
can
be
educated
as
well
a
lot
of
times.
The
parents
are
just
not
aware
of
the
different
services
that
are
available,
so
we
do
have
a
parental
piece
and
we'll
be
delivering
workshops
for
our
parents.
B
We
also
go
into
the
school
I,
go
into
the
school
work
directly
with
the
counselors
and
support
their
programming
that
they
already
have
in
place.
We're
going
to
be
doing
some
exciting
things
for
them
on
campus,
so
we'll
be
providing
them
with
a
campus
tour
again,
just
giving
them
a
different
perspective
and
giving
them
some
hope
and
letting
them
know
that,
if
college
is
what
you
want,
we
have
the
tools
to
help
you
to
attain
that
not.
A
B
What
we're
going
to
do
once
again
we're
going
to
provide
a
financial
aid
workshop
for
our
parents?
We
have
parent
nights
that
are
scheduled
throughout
the
year
and
they
are
specifically
designed
for
the
parent,
so
the
first
one,
for
instance,
we're
going
to
target
the
academic
side
of
things.
We
really
want
to
encourage
the
students
to
take
advanced
classes
because
little
do
a
lot
of
people
know
you
can
start
earning
college
credit
in
high
school
right,
so
those
ninth
and
tenth
eleventh
and
twelfth
graders.
B
They
can
already
go
into
their
first
year,
post-secondary
ed
with
some
of
their
core
curriculum
already
out
of
the
way,
and
they
call
that
program
move
on
when
ready.
It's
now
going
back
to
the
previous
term,
which
was
dual
enrollment,
but
we
want
to
get
that
word
out
that
you
can
start
taking
advanced
classes
as
early
as
ninth
grade
and
earning
your
college.
Credit
is
free,
there's
no
cost
associated
with
that
program.
B
We
actually
have
a
couple
of
high
schools
that
I
understand
have
welcomed
staff
coming
in
from
the
state
to
teach
the
move
on
we're
ready
program
in
their
school.
So
again,
there's
no
cost
to
the
district.
There's
no
cost
to
the
parent
to
the
student.
It's
just
an
opportunity
to
give
those
students
a
little
bit
of
an
advantage
if
they
take
advantage
of
it
right.
So
we
will
have
a
move
on
when
ready
representation.
B
B
Free
free,
we
also
have
a
young
lady
out
of
Atlanta.
She
has
an
organization
called
the
scholarship,
Academy
and
she's
coming
to
just
kind
of
give
you
the
rundown
on
all
the
scholarship
opportunities
that
are
out
there
that
a
lot
of
times
we
overlook.
So
we
have
a
lot
of
different
pieces
to
this
puzzle,
but
we
know
that
the
combination
of
all
the
services
we're
going
to
offer.
We
feel
confident
that
you
know
we're.
B
Gonna
have
quite
a
few
students
who
either
decide
to
do
a
two-year
stint
or
perhaps
that
Columbus
Tech
four-year
college
might
be
an
option
for
them.
The
military
could
be
an
option.
Of
course
we
have
Fort
Benning
here,
so
we're
gonna
partner
with
them
as
well.
We
just
want
the
students
to
be
successful.
Whatever
vein,
they
decide,
you
know
to
be
successful
in
opening.
A
B
Just
need
to
contact
me.
My
number
at
the
office
is
706
565
1315,
we
are
looking
for
volunteers.
Volunteers
are
always
needed
to
help
us
execute
some
of
the
things
in
the
community.
We're
going
to
be
strategically
partnering
with
other
organizations.
Let's
grow
steam.
X
is
going
to
be
one
of
those
they
host
an
awesome
college
career,
fair,
and
so
we
plan
to
co-host
that
with
them,
Columbus
State
is
partnering
with
them
so
that
our
students
again
can
have
exposure.
B
You
know
to
all
the
different
career
opportunities,
all
the
different
collegiate
opportunities,
so
it's
really
just
about
opening
up
their
world
and
helping
them
to
begin
the
process
of
thinking.
You
know:
what's
your
five-year
plan,
what's
your
4-year
plan,
we
should
three
year
plan.
What
are
you?
What
do
you
want
to
be
when
you
grow
up
kind
of
thing?
You
know
what
path
do
we
need
to
help
you
take
so
that
you
can
be
a
successful
person
in
your
community.
A
C
A
teenager
I
am
online
I,
enjoy
sharing
thoughts,
music,
videos,
ideas,
information,
I,
would
not
I
will
not
I'll
not
be
a
victim
to
threats
to
stalking.
Just
so
listening
to
predators,
I
will
be
responsible,
I
will
be
careful,
I
will
be
honest,
I
will
be
smarter,
I
would
get
my
parents
involved,
I
will
protect
myself,
I
will
be
safe,
I
am
a
teenager
and
die
and
I
will
not
be
bullied.
D
Bicycles
are
fun
at
any
age.
Just
remember
the
rules
of
the
road
when
you're
out
enjoying
a
bike,
ride
and
motorist
when
you're,
sharing
the
road
with
cyclists,
use
caution
and
give
at
least
three
feet
when
passing
bicycles
are
safe,
fun
and
sensible
when
you
ride,
be
visible,
be
predictable
and
be
alert,
you'll
have
a
safe
ride
and
a
great
time.
Let's
get
there
together,
Georgia
a
message
from
the
governor's
office
of
Highway,
Safety
and
Georgia
bikes.
C
C
A
Welcome
back
to
Columbus
connections.
Now
this
episode
has
just
been
a
ladies
only
segment
we're
talking
to
some
very
great
women
in
the
Tri
City
community
that
are
just
doing
awesome
things
and
my
next
guest
is
no
different.
We
have
with
me
Monica
Coleman,
welcome
to
the
show.
Thank
you.
This
is
your
first
time
being
on
the
show,
so
we
especially
welcome
to
you
now
you
do
some
stuff
in
the
community
and
some
of
the
things
you
do
is
focused
around
our
women,
our
young
women.
Our
young
ladies
tell
us
a
little
bit
about
it.
A
E
A
E
We
just
love
putting
on
different
programs
for
them,
especially
our
young
girls.
We
just
had
a
sleepover,
a
back-to-school
sleepover
for
them,
where
we
just
kind
of
give
them
life
skills,
and
you
know,
have
Girl
Talk
talk
about
issues
that
they
want
to
talk
about,
and
we
also,
you
know,
teach
them
some
life
skills
like
sewing
and
in
even
crafts
and
in
cooking
and
things
like
that.
So
that's.
How
are
the
older
women
give
back
to
our
younger
women
in
our
church?
Yeah.
A
E
We
have
a
sleepover
in
that
and
with
that
we
have
them.
You
know
we
all
get
in
our
pajamas
and
we
just
make
it
really
comfortable
for
them,
and
we
open
up
the
conversation
and
have
them
write
questions
and
we
will
read
out
those
questions
that
the
things
that
they
want
to
talk
about,
and
so
we
just
make
it
very
comfortable
for
them
and
we
kind
of
tell
them
a
little
bit
about
our
life
stories
and
some
of
the
things
that
we've
experienced.
A
E
A
E
A
E
They
do,
this
is
all
ages,
mainly
maybe
high
school
and
up,
but
we
just
wanted
to
have
a
group
of
women
come
together
and
just
celebrate
God
and
who
they
are
in
God
and
it's
called
unite.
Women's
Conference
and
it's
happening
in
less
than
a
month
from
today
and
on
September
8th
the
Friday
night
into
Saturday
afternoon.
A
September
9th
was.
E
Just
to
day
to
day
party
is
what
I'm
partying
for
Jesus
and
we're
just
just
celebrating
women
and
and
talking
about
being
united
together,
because
with
women
there's
so
much
division.
You
know
sometimes
with
comparison
and
and
just
you
know,
gossiping
and
backbiting,
and
all
of
that
and
I
just
wanted
to
bring
women
together
to
show
that
all
of
us
have
a
story,
and
all
of
us
have
very
similar
stories
and
they're
all
intertwined
in
some
way
with
God's
story
and
just
to
show
that
you
know
we
can
be
United.
E
If
we
can
be
united
in
Christ,
then
we
need
to
go
out
to
the
world
to
show
that
as
well.
So
this
is
our
first
step
for
our
community
for
our
church
to
just
show
that
we
as
women
can
be
united.
We
can
have
fun
together,
we
can
cry
together,
we
can
laugh
together
and
we
can
worship
together,
and
we
have
great
speakers
that
are
coming
to
internationally
known
speakers,
Robert,
Madhu
and
Jo
Saxton.
E
A
E
Right,
I
think
a
lot
of
women
look
at
other
women
who
may
look
like
they
have
it
all
together
and
may
be
perfect,
but
in
essence,
we've
all
gone
through
things
or
we're
going
through
something.
And
if
we
can
make
that
known
to
our
sisters,
then
you
know
then
they're
more
willing
to
be
united
and
to
you
know
to
not
compare
themselves
and
not
to
be
jealous
and
and
so
that's.
A
E
E
E
A
There
you
have
it
folks
again,
a
lot
of
great
women
in
our
community
doing
things
for
our
future
grant
women
and
great
people.
If
you
want
to
go
to
college,
we've
got
it
for
you
gear
up
Georgia.
Is
there
contact
them
and
to
all
our
young
women
throughout
the
community?
There
are
people
here
looking
to
help
you
join.
Let
us
see
how
we
can
make
this
a
better
place,
a
better
city,
a
better
community,
thanks
for
watching
this
has
been
Columbus
connections.
