A
Welcome
to
this
edition
of
columbus
connection
sitting
in
for
david
britt
hi,
I'm
michael
king
and
I'll
tell
you
man.
I
can't
believe
it's
almost
in
the
middle
of
may
2021,
almost
at
the
end
of
spring
and
man,
so
many
so
many
things
that
happened
this
year
last
year.
Well,
we
got
a
lot
of
good
things.
That's
coming
up.
A
B
A
B
A
Truck
okay,
we
don't
need
the
other,
don't.
A
B
B
A
Now
that's
the
next
question.
I
was
going
to
ask
you
in
terms
of
being
able
to
position
your
cart
so
that
the
arm
itself
can
pick
them
up
right.
Give
us
a
little
bit
more
information
in
terms
of
where,
where
the
citizens
need
to
position
their
cars.
Theirs
are
any
feet
between
here
and
there
that
they
need
to
be
there.
B
You
want
to
make
sure
that
that
arm
has
a
chance
to
get
around
that
cart,
grip
it
and
pull
it
in
make
sure
that
it's
not
sitting
in
front
of
like
a
telephone
box
or
any
pole.
It's
really
important
to
make
sure
that
you
have
a
clear
three
feet
area
around.
That
cart.
Make
sure
it's
against
the
curb,
with
the
wheels
against
the
curb.
So
the
lid
opens
up
towards
the
street.
A
Now,
with
this
affect
the,
I
guess,
the
days
that
you
normally
will
set
your
recycling.
B
No,
no,
your
your
collection
day
stays
the
same.
We
will
be
out
there
on
your
collection
day,
so
no
change
in
that
it's
just
hopefully
going
to
be
we're
banking
on
it
being
faster,
cleaner
and
safer
collections
for
our
city.
Now.
B
Is
correct,
it
is
just
the
blue
cart.
Unfortunately,
the
the
new
automated
arm
can't
pick
up
your
18
gallon
bin.
So
what
you
want
to
do
is
call
311
and
ask
for
a
recycling.
Cart.
The
65-gallon
recycling
cart,
give
us
a
little
be
patient
with
us,
give
us
about
a
month
or
so
to
deliver
that
out
to,
and
you
can
hang
on
to
that
bin,
it's
okay
to
hang
on
to
the
bin,
we're
kind
of
asking
folks
to
use
it
as
a
compost,
bin
get
into
yard
waste
and
composting.
B
A
So
if
someone
wants
a
cart,
haven't
gotten
one,
yet
how
could
they
go
about
getting
it
very.
B
Simple,
just
call
3-1-1
give
them
your
name
and
address
and
request
a
cart,
and
we
will
get
one
delivered
to
you
like
again.
Please
have
patience
with
us.
We
have
a
lot
of
folks
wanting
to
either
convert
their
18
gallon
bin
or
they
want
now
to
recycle,
and
so
it's
just
going
to
take
us,
probably
a
month
to
a
month
and
a
half
to
get
you
that
cart.
B
In
there
right
right,
so
normally
our
our
new
carts
come
with
a
nice
sticker
on
the
top
of
them.
You
can
also
go
on
to
our
website
to
see
a
list
of
what
you
should
recycle
and
what
you
shouldn't,
recycle,
there's,
also
a
app
you
can
put
on
your
phone
that
you
can
say:
hey.
Can
I
recycle
styrofoam
and
it'll?
Tell
you?
No,
you
can't
restart
cycle
styrofoam
and
that
app
is
columbus.
Ga
recycles
it's
powered
by
recollect
and
you
can
download
that
and
it'll
tell
you.
B
What
day
of
the
week
it'll
give
you
notifications
of
any
changes
in
collections,
it'll
tell
you
what
you
can
recycle,
what
you
can't
so
some
of
the
items
that
we
really
struggle
with
plastic
bags,
believe
it
or
not
the
little
plastic
bags
you
get
at
the
grocery
store.
We
can't
recycle
those,
so
you
want
to
put
those
in
your
garbage.
B
A
great
way
of
getting
around
plastic
bags
is
get
into
the
habit
of
taking
the
reusable
grocery
bags,
so
you
don't
even
have
to
get
plastic
bags.
Another
thing
that
we
really
struggle
with
is
the
bagging
your
recyclables,
so
your
recycled
material
doesn't
need
to
be
in
a
plastic
garbage
bag,
just
toss
it
on
in
there.
The
only
thing
that
we
ask
people
to
bag
is
shredded
paper,
and
you
want
to
put
that
in
a
paper
bag,
because
we
can
recycle
paper
bags,
so
plastic
bags
don't
put
in
there
don't
bag.
B
B
Right
right
and
so
just
bear
with
us
and
as
we
transition
it's
going
to
be
a
few
weeks
for
people
to
get
the
hang
of
it,
and
it's
a
few
weeks
for
us
to
you,
know
kind
of
get
everybody
set
in
the
right
place
and
get
that
cardboard
taken
care
of
now.
If
you
do
have
lots
of
cardboard,
we
have
citizens
who
have
lots
of
cardboard.
What
you
can
do
is
if
it
all
doesn't
fit
in
the
cart.
B
Website
is
the
city's
website,
so
it
would
be
the
columbus
ga
org
website
and
then
you
would
want
to
route
yourself
to
the
public
works
page
and
then
we're
waste
collections
on
the
public
works
page
and
you
just
click
our
link
and
then
the
app
is
actually
embedded
in
that
page
and
then
the
the
areas
that
you
can
pick
up
are
also
on
the
recycling
page,
that
is
in
the
city's
website.
So
it's
in
multiple
places,
and
so
we
have
four
drop-off
zones.
B
The
the
city
has
the
recycling
murf,
so
that
is
out
off
the
technology.
That's
a
great
place
to
take
your
your
cardboard
lots
of
room
out
there
to
take
it.
There's
a
the
old
recycling
center
which
is
off
of
victory,
drive
and
then,
of
course,
we
have
other
places
that
are
listed.
So
if
they
want
to
go
on,
I
won't
list
them
all,
but
yeah
you
just
you
know.
A
Okay,
well
I'll
tell
you,
you
know
mother's
day,
going
to
be
pretty
big
you're,
going
to
probably
be
getting
a
lot
of
gifts,
a
lot
of
stuff,
that's
wrapped
up,
some
of
that
stuff
can
be
recycled.
So
it's
a
good
day
to
start
recycling
the
day
after
mother's
day.
So
again
for
more
information,
you
can
go
to
www.columbusga.org
route
to
public
works
and
you
can
get
all
the
information
you
need
to
recycle
I'll.
Tell
you
what
coming
up!
D
C
A
Welcome
back
to
columbus
connection,
as
I
told
you
earlier,
we
got
a
lot
of
good
things
going
on
in
the
month
of
may
right
here
in
columbus,
georgia
and
another
good
thing
we
got
is
man.
We
have
another
sports
banquet
this
time,
it's
going
to
be
for
basketball
players.
I
got
here
with
me
my
good
friend
and
partner,
mr
dj
jones
man.
You
don't
know
how
it
makes
me
feel
to
be
here
interviewing
you.
A
E
A
E
A
Since
we
was
working
at
the
other
station,
I'm
not
going
to
give
him
any
publicity,
but
you
know
you
guys
have
started
something
great
sports
vision.
A
program
that's
been
on
probably
longer
than
any
program
that
I
know
how
many
years
has
sports
vision
been
on
the
air.
E
This
year,
next
17
years,
wow
17
years
dale-
and
I
have
started
this
back
in
2004
mike
and
we're
blessed
man.
You
know
to
be
able
to
come
back
to
our
community
and
serve
our
student
athletes,
primarily
in
coaches,
but
just
just
to
have
a
radio
platform.
A
television
platform,
a
magazine
and
also
host
events,
is
just
something
that
it's
a
gift
from
god.
I
know.
E
Is
doing
well,
it
is
to
be
expected.
Obviously
he
has
the
opportunity
to
move
into
another
facility,
and
I
won't
name
that
facility
now,
but
he's
been
home
resting
comfortably
he's
been
in
good
spirits.
A
lot
of
people
don't
didn't
realize
that
matter
of
fact,
one
of
the
high
school
coaches
that
we
work
closely
with
just
called
me
or
text
me
today.
You
know
dale
got
sick
back
last
year
before
christmas.
E
I
remember
and
he's
just
finding
out,
but
again
you
know
we
got
the
gofundme
page
out
there
for
him,
dale
williams,
supporting
him
in
prayers
for
dale
williams.
We
social
media.
You
know
I
talk
about
him
on
the
air
just
about
every
day,
but
you
know
it's
always
somebody
out
there
that
don't
know,
but
we
just
appreciate
the
support
and
love
that
his
family
and
has
been
given
since
during
this
time.
Well,
we're.
E
We've
here
have
been
guests.
You
know
I'm
working
with
the
sandmark
foundation,
which
is
sam,
mitchell
and
markup
shaw
for
quite
a
while.
They
started
their
camp,
their
basketball
summer
basketball
camp
about
15-16
years
ago,
and
I
was
very
integral
part
of
helping
them
put
that
together
and
so
they've
been
watching
us
over
the
years
and
they've
been
seeing
that
we
instituted
a
high
school
football
awards.
E
Luncheon
and
now,
of
course,
we
do
a
female
athlete
of
the
year
awards
program
as
well,
and
you
know
what
nobody
was
doing,
anything
in
particular
for
basketball,
and
these
two
guys
were
high
school
basketball,
superstars
and
they've
done
tremendously
well
after
they
left
college
and,
of
course,
sam
the
nba
coach
of
the
year
and
played
in
the
nba
a
long
time.
Markup
shaw
started
a
successful
business
that
global
diagnostics
that
just
a
tremendous
business
here
in
the
united
states.
A
E
Yeah,
oh
yeah,
I
mean
it's
been
a
tremendous
amount
of
athletes.
I
mean
obviously
people
in
this
generation.
Remember
primarily
me,
but
even
before
me
you
know
you
talk
about
the
oldest
trunks
of
the
world
and
and
so
on
and
so
forth.
I
mean
there's
a
ton
of
guys
that
played
in
the
league,
the
witcher,
spencer
and
again
spencer
is
was
the
forefather
of,
of
course,
generating
these
college
and
professional
athletes,
and
then
carver
came
along
and
man.
A
E
This
awards
us
ceremony
is
going
to
honor
the
top
high
school
basketball
players,
boys,
basketball
players
in
the
bi-city
area.
We
consist
of
about
14
schools,
we've
got
what
the
three
private
schools
well,
four
private
schools
and
the
rest
of
the
public
schools
to
include
central
as
well,
but
these
guys
realize
that
you
know
these
kids
need
the
encouragement.
They
need
exposure
and,
of
course
that's
what
we
do
and
that's
what
we
specialize
in,
because
somebody
did
it
for
us.
E
Somebody
did
it
for
dale
and
myself
and,
of
course,
mark
and
sam
both
had
that
kind
of
encouragement
and
that
kind
of
exposure
when
they
were
younger.
I
mean.
A
Your
your
football
lunch
and
you
have
bought
the
world
to
columbus
georgia.
I
mean
the
likes
of
nick
saban,
the
likes
of
some
of
the
greatest
coaches
that
came
through.
Are
we
going
to
build
this
basketball
franchise
to
that
level?
Well,.
E
You
know
sam
mitchell,
again
a
former
professional
basketball
player
and
a
former
nba
coach.
You
know
he
is
going
to
be
the
first
he's
the
first
in
their
inaugural,
which
will
be
on
friday
may
15th
11
30
at
green
islands,
country
club,
but
he
is
going
to
speak,
and
you
know
these
kids
having
an
opportunity
to
speak
to
a
homegrown
local
hall
of
famer
he's
he's
their
hometown
guy
and
again
he
will
deliver.
E
The
first
message
mark
will
also
be
a
part
of
the
program
but
yeah
the
network
that
and
that's
that's
how
we
were
able
to
attract
those
those
big
names
that
you
talked
about
because
we've
been
exposed.
We
work
in
the
professional
ranks
and
people
have
once
they.
They
realize
that
you're
doing
something
to
help
these
kids
man.
They
they're
they're,
ready
to
reach
out
to
you-
and
I
know.
A
They've
brought
the
likes
of
shaquille
o'neal,
here
grant
williams.
Here
I
had
the
opportunity
to
to
interview
both
of
us.
Yes,
that
was
like
shaquille
o'neal,
I'm
talking
to
him.
That
was
something
special.
Now,
let's
go
ahead
and
talk
about
the
date
yes
and
how
people,
if
they
want
to
be
involved
in
this,
how
they
can
get
involved
well,.
E
You
know,
unfortunately,
we've
gotten
we're
going
to
have
to
have
limited.
You
know
participation
because,
obviously
we're
still
in
covet-
and
you
know
we-
you
know
this
is
the
first
one.
This
is
an
inaugural,
we're
keeping
the
numbers
down
and
so
they're
on
we're
only
opening
up
to
select
media,
as
well
as
the
the
players,
the
coaches,
the
ads,
the
principals
and
some
select
sponsors.
Now
we.
A
Will
be
rebroadcasting
this
on
ccgtv,
so
people
will
still
get
to
see
themselves
receiving
awards,
and
I
know
that
our
partner
over
and
phoenix
city
will
broadcast
it
live
and
probably
rebroadcast
it.
So
we
want
to
the
attention
is
going
to
be
on
the
kids.
Now,
how
do
you
guys
go
about
selecting
who
would
receive
an
award.
E
Well,
we
take
that
we
put
the
ball
in
the
coach's
hands
because
they
are
the
ones
who
know
their
players,
so
we
get
the
best
player
from
each
coach,
each
team
nominates
his
best
player,
his
mvp
and
from
there
we
have
some
other
specialty
awards.
We
have
a
sam
mitchell
coach
of
the
year
award
that
we're
going
to
give
to
one
of
the
coaches.
E
We're
going
to
sam
excuse
me
a
mark
up,
shaw
player
of
the
year
awards,
and
then
we
have
another,
a
number
of
other
awards
as
best
defensive
player,
best
officer
player,
academic
awards
and
so
on
and
so
forth.
E
A
Now,
of
course,
we're
still
in
the
covet
age,
things
are
getting
better.
I've
been
vaccinated,
I'm
going
to
tell
you
that
I've
been
fully
vaccinated.
I
know
mr
jones
is
also,
but
we're
still
going
to
be
practicing.
Safety.
We're
still
going
to
have
masks
on
would
be
distancing
ourselves
so
that
we
don't
wanna
do
anything
to
affect
what
is
going
on
right
now,
and
this
is
gonna
be
a
great
thing
for
columbus,
georgia
and
I'm
hoping
next
year.
It's
gonna
be
better.
A
We're
gonna
be
back
the
way
it's
supposed
to
be,
and
we
just
look
forward
to
doing
this
and
we
look
forward
to
all
the
information
and
stuff
that's
going
on
in
columbus,
georgia
and
again
dj.
Thank
you
for
coming
by.
Thank
you
for
having
me
and
we're
going
to
thank
you
for
tuning
in
to
columbus
connection
and
we'll
see
you
on
the
next
edition.
