Columbus Connections - Georgia Cities Week
A
Hello
and
welcome,
thank
you
for
tuning
in
to
this
special
edition
of
Columbus
connection.
So
you
know,
when
you
see
me,
you
know
we're
going
to
talk
about
I'm,
going
to
surprise
you
this
time,
but
I
have
some
guests
here,
we're
going
to
be
talking
about
Georgia
cities
league.
So
thanks
for
coming
Michelle
and
Brian,
how
are
you
guys
today
good?
How
are
you,
how
are
you
doing
well
doing
well,
I'm
excited
to
be
here
so
tell
me
for
people
who
don't
know
what
is
Georgia's
cities
week.
B
This
year,
Georgia
cities
week
is
April
23rd
the
week
of
April
23rd
and
each
department
within
the
city
typically
highlights
services
that
they
provide.
Our
director
has
come
to
us
and
asked
us
to
put
something
together
that
highlights
Public
Works
in
general,
and
we
participate
in
what's
called
an
equipment
Rodeo.
Last
year
we
partnered
our
equipment
rodeo
with
a
job
fair,
as
you
well
know,
because
you
participated
with
us,
because
we
were
in
desperate
need
of
filling
positions
this
year,
we're
doing
the
same.
B
A
C
What
we
do
we
have
a
about
anywhere
from
75
to
100
employees.
They
sign
up
and
volunteered
to
run
various
pieces
of
equipment
such
as
the
boom
truck
the
street
sweeper
zero
turn
more
front.
End
lowers
backhoe
and
things
of
that
nature,
and
they
go
through
an
obstacle
course
and
it's
time
then
the
winner
can
advance
and
go
on
to
the
state
level
and
even
National
level.
Competition
actually.
B
Something
pretty
interesting
happened
to
us.
Last
year
we
had
a
guy
that
won
first
place
here
at
our
rodeo
and
we
sponsored
him
to
go
to
apwa.
The
American
public
works
association's
Rodeo,
which
was
state
state
competition.
He
went
all
the
way
to
National
in
one
second
place.
A
A
B
A
B
A
A
B
Last
year
was
the
first
year
that
we
actually
opened
it
to
the
public
and
it's
free.
It's
a
free
event
and
we
had
a
couple
of
people
bring
their
children
down
there
and
after
we
were
done
competing.
Obviously
they
could
watch
from
the
sidelines.
But
when
we
finished
they
were
able
to
come
in
and
look
at
the
equipment,
and
there
were
several
kids
little
boys
in
particular
just
absolutely
love
this
type
of
equipment
and
they
were
just
all
over
the
place
and
we
have
such
gracious
employees.
B
A
Okay
and
I
think
that'll
be
really
good
too
for
the
public
to
be
there,
because
we
have
a
hiring
event.
So
I
will
tell
you
we
have
a
hard
event
at
the
rodeo
event.
So
if
you
want
to
see
what
all
that
craziness
is
going
to
be
about-
and
you
might
want
to
drive
one
of
those
Vehicles
come
down
and
come
talk
to
me,
come
talk
to
Miss
Michelle
come
talk
to
anyone
who's
around.
We
have
jobs.
We're
going
to.
A
B
We
have
not
had,
of
course,
you
and
I
have
been
into
numerous
meetings
about
the
different
events
that
we're
handling,
but
no
I
don't
know
city-wide.
What
exactly
is
going
on?
I
know
that
we're
highlighting
our
rodeo
and
then,
of
course,
we
talked
about
the
job
fair
when
we
got
together
earlier
and
you
were
asking
in
particular
about
what
it
is
that
we're
looking
for.
So
we
have
really
been
blessed
with
new
candidates
recently,
because
last
year,
this
time
we
were
really
in
in
a
bad
way.
B
We
do
have
a
still
a
serious
need
for
CDL,
Drivers
and
Corrections
Officers,
and
so
those
will
be
there.
All
of
Public
Works
will
be
at
your
job,
fair
and
I'm
sure
that
there'll
be
several
other
departments,
like
I'm
sure
the
Police
Department
fire,
everybody
that
has
vacancies
will
be
at
the
job.
Fair
and
it'll,
be
at
the
same
location.
But
that's
really
the
only
thing
that
I
know
of
firsthand
that's
going
on
with
us.
So.
B
Oh
yeah,
absolutely
the
vendor
participation.
This
year
we
have
a
lot
of
vendors
coming
with
their
equipment
and
static
boards
to
Showcase
what
they
have
on
sale.
That
may
or
may
not
be
on
state
contract,
and
usually
this
stuff
is
state
of
the
art
equipment
that
we've
never
seen
before.
I
want
to
say
at
last
year's
Rodeo.
They
bought
a
remote
control,
lawnmower
we'll
say
lawnmower
mower
of
sorts,
and
it's
really
big
and
we
ended
up
purchasing
one.
This.
B
It
now
everybody
in
public
works
wants
one,
because
it's
just
you,
you
man,
it
you
know,
slopes
and
Hills
that
you
would
typically
have
a
hard
time
getting
down
into
with
a
piece
of
equipment.
We
can
use
this
and
they
highlighted
that
at
last
year's
rodeo
and
we
ended
up
purchasing
this
so
stuff
like
that
is
pretty
exciting
for
people
as
well.
Okay,.
