A
Coming
up
next
on
Columbus
connections,
do
you
own
a
property
that
has
a
lien
on
it,
because
you
have
some
grass
cutter
had
a
building
torn
down
by
the
city?
It's
hi,
not
the
grass,
but
the
money
is
high.
You
want
to
take
care
of
it,
but
it's
just
too
steep
for
you.
Well,
we
have
news
for
you
that
can
help
stay
tuned.
A
Welcome
to
Columbus
connections:
I!
Am
your
host
David
Britt.
Now
this
is
to
all
of
my
property
owners
who
may
have
had
a
property
here
in
the
city
that
you
had
some
grass
cut
down
by
the
city
because
it
got
overgrown
or
you
may
have
had
a
building
torn
down
about
the
city,
and
you
know
what
happens
you
get
those
leaves
put
on
the
property
and
you
want
to
take
care
of
them,
but
the
leaves
have
gotten
extremely
high
over
the
years.
Maybe
it's
a
family
property
or
something
you've
inherited
well.
A
The
city
is
giving
you
two
amnesty
months
now,
the
last
she
only
had
one
this
should
you
have
to
amnesty
months
coming
up?
Well,
you
can
take
care
of
that
without
having
to
pay
the
interest,
but
don't
take
my
word
for
it
because
I
have
the
people
here
that
are
really
going
to
tell
you
more
about
it
with
me.
Is
the
director
of
inspectors
and
combs
John
Henderson,
as
well
as
the
Revenue
Manager,
miss
Yvonne
ivy,
some
really
great,
talented
folks
from
our
city?
A
B
Are
doing
inspectors
in
code,
so
one
half,
we
do
the
building
inspections
for
the
city,
so
any
new
development
properties,
commercial
or
residential,
and
then
on
the
other
side
we
do
with
property
maintenance
and
special
enforcement,
so
people
junk
cars
tires
and
overgrown
weeds,
as
you
mentioned,
and
the
demolition
process.
That's
what
we
work
on.
A
C
Name
is
Yvonne
Ivey
I'm,
the
Revenue
Manager
for
the
finance
department
for
the
City
of
Columbus
Georgia
in
our
office
is
broken
into
two
sections,
which
is
the
business
licensing
part
of
it.
I
am
the
collection
part
for
the
ambulatory
billing
and
collection
of
property
at
spend
demolish
or
the
grass
neat
cutting.
So
we
are
responsible
for
that.
Also,
that's.
A
B
B
So,
ideally
we
start
our
property
maintenance
process,
as
that
goes,
if
the
property
we
what's
called
a
50%
rule,
so
if
the
property
gets
50%
of
more
than
it
value
the
city
with
incinolet,
to
suggest
that
you
tear
it
down
instead
of
trying
to
repair
it
at
that
point,
we
proceed
with
hearings
that
we
bring
them
in
and
we
say
hey
what
is
your
intent
with
this
property
to
keep
it?
Do
you
want
to
repair
it
or
do
we
need
to
go
ahead
and
move
forward
with
demolishing
a
lot
of
times
there?
B
We
get
all
different
answers
and
different
ways
to
go,
and
then
there's
another
hearing
that
we
do
proceed
to
have
it
counsel.
So
then,
that's
more
or
less
their
last
effort
to
say,
hey,
I
want
to
fix
it
or
I.
Have
the
money
now
to
take
care
of
it.
Once
counsel
authorizes
us
to
tear
it
down,
we
contract
with
our
demolition
vendors
and
they
tear
it
down.
So
at
that
point
they
tear
it
down
for
the
cost
that
it
takes
them
to
take
care
of
it.
B
Let
abatement
asbestos
all
that
all
that
good
stuff
to
get
the
property
gone.
So
it's
gone,
we
graphed
and
seated,
and
then
it's
done
so
at
that
point.
That
lien
is
then
taken
to
your
bronze
office
and
that's
what's
placed
on
the
property.
So
then
they
know
you
know
they're
trying
to
sell
that
property
and
any
time
in
the
future
that
they
do
account
for
that
lien
that
demolition,
lien
that's
been
placed
on
dachi.
A
C
Located
at
3111
citizens
Wade
the
new
city
services,
building
on
off
making
Road
between
a
school
board
in
the
public
library
and
offices
is
the
finance.
The
logo
on
the
door
is
finest
who
our
office
just
tell
the
technician
at
the
front
that
you
would
like
to
speak
to
someone
about
amnesty
month
and
they
will
go
and
get
the
person
to
assist
you
with
this
matter.
C
A
lot
of
people
don't
realize
that
if
we
demolish
your
property,
that
property
is
going
to
and
we
place
the
link
and
when
we
place
the
lien
on
that
property,
that
property
is
going
to
start
accruing
interest
and
it
accrues
interest
7%,
each
year
longer
the
property
stays
on
the
book.
The
interest
is
going
to
accrue
and-
and
there
are
a
lot
of
times
when
the
interest
really
is
outweighs
the
principal
of
the
property.
We
have
some
property
on.
There,
that's
been
on
the
books
for
26
years,
and
so
the
value
of
that.
C
As
far
as
the
services
force,
demolishing
the
property
was
only
to
stay
$11,000,
but
the
interest
accrued
on
the
property
has
not
escalated
to
$50,000.
So
now
you
have
a
property.
That's
$70,000
that
the
person
would
have
to
to
pay
in
order
for
it
to
get
cleared
and
nine
times
out
of
ten.
No
one
has
money
to
be
able
to
pay
that.
A
C
A
So
this
made
this
June.
If
you
have
those
properties
that
have
those
liens,
you
have
an
opportunity
to
pay
the
base
amount
without
that
interest
that
has
accrued
and
that
it's,
where
there's
snowball
issues
that
all
city
departments
deal
with,
because
if
the
property
gets
overgrown
or
even
if
there's
not
a
building
on
it,
if
it's
grown
up,
it
brings
down
the
neighborhood.
You
started
having
the
potential
for
vague
when
she
started.
If
there's
still
a
building
on
there,
the
building
you
know
people
get
into
the
building,
but
causes
may
lead
to
crime.
A
B
We
get
a
lot
of
calls
from
neighbors
next
door
and
they're
just
interested
to
purchase
that
lot
or
they're
looking
at
that,
but
then,
once
they
start,
do
the
research
and
call
your
office
and
find
out-
and
that's
I
can't
make
that
offer
to
this
guy,
because
he
knows
what
they've
got
to
pay
to
clear
that
glean
to
be
able
to
even
purchase
the
property.
So,
ideally,
a
lot
of
it
comes
down
to
heir
properties.
B
It's
just
family
property
and
people
didn't
know
they
owned
it
or
didn't
know
there
was
attached
to
them,
and
you
know
the
family
passed
away
or
didn't
they.
You
know
the
the
mother
or
father
passed
away
and
now
they've
inherited
this
property,
and
then
they
go
look
at
it.
They're,
like
you
know,
like
you
said
you
just
don't
have
that
seventy.
B
Seventy
five
thousand
dollars
just
sitting
around
to
clear
that
so
ideally,
at
least
if
the
city's
getting
paid
back
on
that
principal
amount,
we're
getting
that
principal
amount
that
the
city
spent
at
that
time
to
tear
down
the
structure,
at
least
that
frees
them
up
to
be
able
to
sell
it
or
to
be
able
to
give
it
to
that
next-door
neighbor.
If
they
can
work
out
an
agreement
to
sell
things
so
I
think
this
we've
had
it
when
we
did
it.
Last
year
we
had
maybe
1520
days
and
we
raised
over
almost
forty
thousand
dollars.
B
A
You
bring
up
two
really
great
points
if,
if,
if
this
property
is
a
lien
under
someone's
name,
if
I
just
know
that
they
have
this
lien
and
I
come
and
say,
I'm
gonna
pay
their
lien.
That
doesn't
give
me
any
kind
of
ownership
or
any
kind
of
special
interest
to
the
property.
Correct,
that's
correct!
That's.
B
A
And
with
their
property-
and
this
is
a
completely
other
show
that
we
could
talk
about,
but
it
is
so
important
you
know
just
for
for
your
for
your
family,
for
your
generational
wealth
and
just
for
the
good
of
the
city.
If
you
have
a
property
that
is
in
the
name
of
a
deceased
relative
and
it
has
supposed
to
come
to
you
do
what
you
need
to
do
to
get
it
put
into
your
name.
C
I
will
also
like
to
add
that
if,
when
you
come
to
our
office
and
when
you
talk
to
us
about
way
with
the
interest,
we
are
going
to
look
to
see
if
you
have
any
obligations
that
it's
owed
to
the
city
and
before
we.
If
those
obligations
also
have
to
be
satisfied
in
addition
to
the
liens
on
the
property,
like
give
you
all
money
to
the
tax
commissioner's
office,
that
obligation
has
to
be
fulfilled
to.
A
B
Yes,
we
had
a
family
from
Texas
call
and
it
was
an
air
property
and
he
said
you
know
we're
trying
to
get
everything
together
and
all
that-
and
we
took
care
of
that,
but
hopefully
getting
far
enough
ahead
of
it
to
give
people
enough
notification.
You
know
if
they
need
to
go
to
the
bank
and
need
to
work
out
some
kind
of
loan
agreements
or
whoever
heirs
property
is
linked
to
it.
C
I,
don't
like
to
also
show
the
audience
what
what
we
mailed
out.
These
are
the
inserts
that
were
mailed
out
this
week
with
the
with
the
landfill
I'm,
sorry,
with
the
lot
clearing
liens
and
with
the
with
the
demolition
I'm.
Sorry,
not
the
law,
but
these
are
the
inserts
that
were
mailed
out
with
the
lot
clearing
bills
and
with
the
demolition
bills.
It's
just
get
telling
you
that
how
you
take
advantage
of
this
is
this:
is
your
golden
ticket
take
advantage
of
MST
month?
C
You
can
come
in
and
talk
to
us
and
to
about
this
incentive
that
the
city
is
offering
we've
even
given
an
example
on
the
back
where's.
If
the
demolition
cost
was
six
thousand
dollars,
the
interest
due
was
eight
thousand
dollars,
meaning
that
the
inch
the
amount
of
interest
accrued
on
the
properties
eight
thousand
dollars
their
total
amount.
Always
fourteen
thousand
the
city
is
willing
to
waive
eight
thousand
dollars,
which
is
the
the
entire
amount
of
the
interest
that
has
accrued
on
the
property,
so
their
property
owning
we're.
Only
wound
up
pay.
C
We
pay
only
a
six
thousand
dollars.
It's
for
is
that
property
is
concerned,
but
please
keep
in
mind
that
if
we
have
a
place
lien
on
any
like
lock,
we
had
to
go
out
to
clean
your
property
like
cut
the
grass
etc.
You
also
have
to
sort
of
satisfy
that
obligation.
Also.
In
addition,
we
also
put
out
a
meteor
media
release
where,
as
we
John
Hutchison,
he
notified
the
the
local
TV
stations
and
we've
advertised
that
we
advertise
it
on
CCG
TV.
C
As
far
as
amnesty
notice
for
demolition
liens,
so
we're
trying
to
get
the
message
out
there.
We
encourage
you
to
please
come
in
and
take
advantage
of
the
golden
ticket.
Get
your
interest
wave
I
mean
we
really
want
our
citizens
to
come
in
we're
willing
to
help
you
to
the
best
of
my
ability
to
make
this
a
successful
project
to
make
this
a
successful
network
with
our
property
owners.
Those.
C
A
C
Located
at
3111
citizens
way
and
the
finance
office
we're
located
with
the
new
city,
services,
build
and
we're
really
not
new
anymore.
We've
been
here
for
about
five
years
so,
but
we're
located
between
the
school
board
and
the
public
library
we
attach
to
the
editorial,
which
everyone
knows.
So
that's
where
we're
located
on
the.

she

no

That's
how
you
know
that
these
people,
these
employees,
these
folks
that
work
hard
for
the
city
really
care
about
the
community
care
about
you.
