A
A
Foreign
welcome
to
Columbus
connection.
I
am
your
host
David
Britt
and
today
we
are
talking
to
all
Property
Owners
Tis,
the
time
of
year
for
your
official
tax
notices
to
hit
the
streets
if
you're
not
familiar
with
them.
I
have
just
the
person
who
can
answer
all
of
your
questions
about
them:
Columbus's
tax,
assessor
Ms,
Suzanne,
whitinghouse,
how
you
doing
I'm.
A
A
B
The
official
tax
notice
is,
the
annual
notice
is
required
by
Georgia
Code,
letting
property.
No
owners
know
exactly
what
their
property
is
worth
on:
the
fair
market
value
and
also,
if
they
have
any
exemptions,
say
a
homestead
exemption
or
a
current
use
valuation
assessment,
a
couver
conservation
assessment.
Those
are
things
that
are
on
that
notice
of
assessment
and
it
allows
them
to
review
that
and
to
to
kind
of
see
if
they,
if
we,
if
we
have
it
right,
did
we
did
we
get
their
values
right
for
the
year.
B
B
B
Correct
it
opens
up
the
45-day
appeal
period
and
that
those
dates
are
at
the
top
of
the
of
the
notice
up
in
the
top
right
hand,
corner
those
are
fairly
large
letters
that
that
indicate
what
date
you
have
to
file
your
appeal.
We
have
something
new.
This
year
we
have
the
ability
to
file
online
for
the
first
time,
nice.
Yes,
so
there
will
be
on
our
page
of
the
city's
website.
B
There
will
be
a
link
that
will
take
you
to
being
able
to
look
up
your
particular
property
and
then
on
your
property
page
will
be
a
link
to
file
to
file
the
actual
appeal
and
that,
but
that
will
only
be
open
during
the
appeal
period
right
and
what
does
that
appeal
period
that
appeal
period?
It
notices
are
scheduled
to
go
out
on
the
30th
of
May,
so
it
will
start
the
30th
of
May
running
through
the
14th
of
July
this
year,
gotcha.
B
So
that's
the
that's
the
45
days
and
you
can
file
either
coming
into
our
office.
We're
more
than
happy
to
assist
you
we've
got
the
paper
returns.
The
paper
forms
you
can
come
in
and
fill
those
out
or
you
can
file
online.
You
can
always
mail
one
in
now.
The
online
option
will
only
be
available
for
real
property
this
year.
B
A
B
A
A
A
B
I
say
that
sometimes
you
really
can
fight
City
Hall,
the
Board
of
Equalization,
which
is
the
board
that
hears
these
appeals
they're
actually
made
up
of
regular
property,
owning
citizens
that
are
reside
right
here
in
Muskogee
County.
They
own
property.
Here
in
Muskogee,
County,
they're
selected
by
the
grand
jury.
They
are
not
affiliated
with
my
office
in
any
way
shape
or
form,
and
you
can
in
fact
get
a
fair
hearing
from
them.
Yeah.
B
Out
start
watching
the
mail
for
for
the
notices
they
should
be
hitting
November
30th,
sorry,
May,
30th
I'm.
Already
at
the
end
of
the
year,
May
30th
through
July
14th,
will
be
the
appeal
period.
Gotcha.
B
Like
three
different
ways,
you
can
mail
in
your
appeal.
You
can
come
into
my
office
and
we'll
be
happy
to
assist
you
in
filling
out
the
appeal
form
and
you
can
just
leave
it
in
the
office
or
you
can
go
online
to
our
page
on
the
city's
website.
Columbus
ga.gov
tax
assessor
and
we
will
open
up
on
November
May
30th.
We
will
open
up
a
link
to
to
be
able
to
follow
that
to
your
your
individual
property
in
order
to
be
able
to
file
an
appeal
online
awesome.
B
They
are
welcome
to
call
our
office
we're
available.
706
653-4398
we're
here
from
eight
to
five
or
you
can
always
get
online
to
the
tax
assessor's
website.
There's
some
links
on
there
that
can
connect
you
with
individual
people.
There's
also
a
lot
of
information
on
our
page
about
the
appeal
process,
about
notices
about
valuation
methodology,
all
kinds
of
all
kinds
of
stuff.
There's
information
on
exemption
programs,
all
kinds
of
good
stuff
on
there
awesome.
B
A
It's
good
good
to
be
here.
Thank
you!
Well,
there
you
have
it
folks.
That
is
your
answer
for
official
tax
notices
that
great
nurse
you
get
every
year.
It
is
great
to
have
that
that
you
can
look
at
what
you
have
review
your
information
and
if
you
decide
to
file
an
appeal
have
time
to
do
so
again,
thanks
for
watching
