A
Welcome
to
another
program
of
focus
on
how
I'm
gonna
always
give
it
easy.
So
let
me
think
now:
okay,
we're
going
to
talk
about
something,
but
we're
going
to
talk
about
a
medicine
that
you
probably
don't
even
know
that
it's
a
medicine
think
about
for
a
minute.
We're
gonna
talk
about
a
medicine
that
a
lot
of
people
may
not
know,
and
you
may
know,
is
a
medicine
I
want
to
see
you
right
at
the
end
of
this
commercial.
C
D
A
Welcome
back
to
focus
on
health
I'm,
going
to
give
you
the
answer
to
the
teaser.
Well,
no
I'm
going
to
wait
a
minute.
Let
you
think
a
little
bit
more
right
to
my
right:
I
have
mr.
Franks
Shepherd
Frank.
Would
you
look
in
there
and
let
them
know
who
you
are:
what
organization
that
you're,
representing
and
all
about
the
organization,
how
they
can
contact
you
and
everything
right
there.
E
Great,
thank
you
pops.
Yes,
my
name
is
Frank
Shepherd
I'm,
president
CEO
of
feeding
the
valley,
Food
Bank.
We
have
a
new
warehouse
located
at
6744,
Flat
Rock
Road
in
Midland
Georgia.
You
can
contact
us
at
our
main
phone
number,
706,
five,
six,
one,
four,
seven,
five.
Five!
Our
website
is
simply
feeding
the
valley,
org
WWF,
feeding
the
valley,
dot,
org
and
you
can
reach
a
meet
anytime
in
my
email
address,
which
is
f,
shepherd.
That's
sh
e
PP,
a
rd
@
fitting
the
valley,
org
boy.
A
And
let
me
tell
you
something:
once
we
talk
about
feeding
the
valley,
you
are
definitely
going
to
want
to
give
that
organization.
A
call
okay,
I'm
gonna,
give
you
the
answer
to
it.
If
you've
ever
been
in
a
hospital,
it's
the
first
prescription
that
the
doctor
writes
for
you
is
your
diet.
A
lot
of
people
don't
know
that,
but
when
I
went
to
nursing
school
like
that's
it
food
is
a
prescription
into
the
prescription,
sure
because
it
is
a
medication
for
your
body.
A
I
went
out
to
feed
the
valley.
I
did
a
tour.
I
will
encourage
everyone
to
take
that
tour
and
I'm
gonna,
say
I've,
just
been
maybe
living
in
a
bubble.
Although
I
know
all
a
lot
of
organizations,
Valley
rescue
mission,
open
door
and
all
just
never
saw
it
and
I
know
they
gave
away
food
whatever,
but
never
thought
where
it
came
from
well.
You're
gonna
find
out
about
that
as
Frank.
A
nice
walk
so
Frank.
Let's
go
to
the
give
me
a
check
minute
to
get
it
on
my
little
my
little
phone
here.
E
E
That
is,
that
is
right.
That
is
right.
It's
kind
of
a
kind
of
speaking
to
the
need
we
have
in
the
community,
and
that
is,
we
have
a
large
need
for
for
a
child
nutrition,
and
what
we
do
know
is
that
children
are
statistically
20%
behind
their
peers
in
their
pursuit
of
academic
success
right
away
when
they're
hungry
they're
gonna
miss
school.
More
often
when
they're
in
school,
they're,
gonna
fall
asleep,
they're
gonna
have
headache
stomach
aches,
all
things
that
detract
from
learning.
So
really
you.
E
We
talk
about
food
insecurity
is
kind
of
the
trade
lingo
term,
because
that
that
defines
really
everyone
that
we
are
trying
to
help
and
basically
food
insecurity
is
individuals
that
lack
the
resources
necessary
to
eat
a
consistent,
nutritious
diet.
Right
I
mean
sometime
in
that
monthly
cycle
of
income
and
expenses.
They're
gonna
have
to
make
decisions
between
food
and
other
basic
needs.
Do
I
eat.
Do
I
pay
the
rent
utilities
do
I
eat
and
do
I.
Take
my
child
to
the
doctor
or
get
my
prescriptions
filled
so.
A
When
I
visit
a
lot
of
homes
of
seniors
being
a
nurse
when
I
look
at
their
pill,
boxes,
I
can
tell
whether
they're
actually
taking
their
medication.
The
way
they're
supposed
to
a
lot
of
them
are
not
taking
it
as
prescribed,
maybe
they're,
taking
it
every
other
day,
because
that
to
make
a
choice
between
their
medication
and
food,
and
it.
F
E
E
A
E
Hard
to
believe
it
true,
it's
hard
to
believe
that
it
is
that
big
of
an
issue
here
in
21st
century
America.
You
know
the
most
prosperous
country
in
the
world
that
we
still
have.
You
know
roughly
one
in
six
of
our
of
our
citizens,
be
children
or
being
adults
or
seniors
that
are
chronically
hungry
and.
A
E
A
E
E
E
E
It's
as
prevalent
in
in
in
the
rural
areas
as
it
is
in
the
densely
populated
urban
areas.
We
say
that
85%
of
high
insecurity,
food
insecurity
areas
are
rural
and
that's
because
there's
an
issue
with
getting
resources
there
and
we
work
on
that.
But
by
the
same
token,
there's
over
800,000
children
in
the
cities
of
New,
York,
City
and
LA
alone.
F
E
E
So
many
people
are-
and
we
categorize
it
that
way,
because
so
many
people
are
just
one
major
event
away
from
being
food:
insecure
exam.
We
talk
about
the
working
poor,
you
know
a
parents,
a
husband
and
wife
that
work
minimum-wage
jobs
at
full,
full-time
or
close
to
it
and
have
two
kids
are
above
the
poppy
line:
they're
not
going
to
qualify
for
a
lot
of
programs,
but
you
know
they're
still
going
to
struggle
there.
A
A
A
E
Well,
I
kind
of
call
that
the
demand
side
of
the
problem
and
here's
the
supply
side
pops.
We
talk
about
the
fact
that
there
is
a
food
supply
out
there,
because
40%
of
all
the
food
that
we
produce
every
year
here
and
States
goes
wasted.
40%
40%
gets
wasted
and
that
amounts
to
63
million
tons
of
food.
That's
more
zeroes
than
I
can
get
on
the
slide,
but
63
million
tons,
52
million
ends
up
in
our
landfills.
So
again
we
have
another
issue
with
the
gases
that
MSA.
E
Yes
and
then
10
million
is
left
plowed
under
in
the
fields
and
it
cost
almost
a
quarter
of
a
trillion
dollars
to
produce
that
food
to
produce
it
to
transport
it
into
warehouse
it.
So
you
know
here
we
have
a
great
deal
of
food
that
is
available,
but
yet
we
have
41
million
Americans
that
are
going
hungry.
So
that's
where
food
banking
comes
in,
you
know
there
needs
to
be
a
medium.
There
needs
to
be
exactly
a
middle,
a
middle
party
that
will
help
get
that
food
from
its
source
to
those
individuals
in
need.
A
E
F
A
E
Can
certainly
go
somewhere
else.
The
retail
stores
can
donate
it
to
a
food
bank
to
get
re
reused
food.
That's
approaching.
You
know
it's
its
best
by
date
you
know
they
can
get
to
us
and
we
shoot
out
in
the
community.
So
there
is
so
much
food
product
that
if
we
were
really
putting
it
to
proper
use
and
getting
it
through
the
food
bank
channel,
so
we
can
get
it
to
individuals
that
are
in
need
and.
A
E
In
a
nutshell,
is
how
the
food
bank
process
works
and
our
trucks
are
on
regular
routes
to
every
food
retailer,
food
manufacturers
and
farmers
throughout
the
south.
We
source
food
throughout
the
state
and
throughout
the
region,
from
farmers
develop
relationships
with
them
so
that
when
it
gets
to
the
end
of
the
harvest
season,
then
they'll
donate
the
food
to
us.
So
our
trucks
go
on
regular
routes
to
all
those
stores.
Three
in
some
of
them
five
days
a
week
to
food.
C
E
And
get
all
that
food
back
to
the
the
food
bank
and
it
will
all
be
inspected,
and
then
we
will,
you
know,
put
it
together,
assemble
it
to
go
out
in
one
of
several
programs
that
we
have
so
programs
that
some
that
helps
seniors
something
to
help
families
some
that
the
help
children
so
a
little
bit
of
everything.
So.
A
So,
actually,
what
you
all
have
been
proactive
in
making
even
arrows
like
going
to
going
out
into
the
areas
with
the
farmers
and
letting
him
and
and
creating
some
kind
of
a
dialogue
and
agreement
correct
that
that
what
they
may
not
be
supplying
that
what
that
would
be
wasted
or
pound
under
to
donate
to
y'all.
That's
right!
That
is
what
we.
E
A
F
A
You
was
something
Colleen
is
a
gem
everyone
that
I
met
there,
the
workers,
the
one
gentleman
that
that's
violent
as
volunteer.
You
can
see
that
this
is
kind
of
like
a
a
mission
for
them.
It's
it's,
it's
not
just
a
job.
There
was
one
gentleman
and
one
young
lady
I
was
working
in
the
freezer.
What
did
of
reason
y'all.
F
A
E
C
A
Know
figured
it
was
such
a
and
that's
what
my
I
said.
You
wanted
something.
I
said
it
was
just
a
good
atmosphere
and
that
one
gentleman
retiree
in
his
seventies
comes
he's
their
volunteers
faithfully.
That's
one
of
the
reasons
why
my
wife
and
I
came
back.
This
is
a
gosh,
awful
good
community
with
a
lot
of
good
folks.
It.
A
E
A
D
A
We're
gonna
talk
this
slide
here,
who
we
are
right,
go
through
that
and
then
we're
going
to
take
a
break
when
we
come
back
from
the
break
I'm.
What
you're?
Looking
to
that
Cameron?
Let
everybody
know
how
they
contact
you
because
I
just
know,
I
know
this
community
after
we
go
through
this
year,
there's
gonna
be
some
people
are
gonna
want
to
volunteer.
So
let's
talk
through
this
slide
and
then
we
go.
E
F
C
E
Great
to
talk
with
folks
who
started
all
this
way
back
when,
as
the
Interfaith
action
Food
Bank,
they
were
just
a
group
of
civic-minded
volunteers
and
said:
you
know
we
need
a
local
source,
centralized
source
of
food
for
individuals
in
need,
so
they
rented
a
Chevy
Suburban.
They
took
it
to
Atlanta
brought
back
fourteen
hundred
pounds
of
food
and
we
were
we
were
in
business.
That's.
A
E
A
Chief,
remember
that
well,
but
that's
an
awesome,
awesome
history.
What
we're
going
to
do
right
now
we're
going
to
take
a
break
when
we
come
back
on
ask
Frank
to
look
into
his
camera
over
here
and
give
all
the
contact
information,
because
I
know
we're
telling
you
a
lot
of
things
that
you
possibly
didn't
know
or
definitely
I
didn't
know
until
my
wife
and
I
took
the
tour.
So
we'll
see
you
on
opposite
end
of.
C
D
A
E
You
gave
them
before
sure
absolutely.
My
name
is
Frank
Shepherd
I'm,
president
CEO
of
feeding
the
valley,
Food
Bank,
we're
located
at
6744
Flat
Rock
Road
in
Midland
Georgia.
You
can
reach
us
on
our
website
at
feeding
the
valley
org.
You
can
reach
me
by
email
at
F,
Shepherd,
sshe,
P,
P,
ard,
at
feeding
the
valley,
org
and
in
fact,
unaware.
Excuse
me
on
our
website.
You
can
find
the
email
addresses
for
all
the
individuals
that
that
basically
run
all
areas
of
our
operations.
E
A
F
C
E
A
E
We
meet
regularly
on
about
a
monthly
basis
to
discuss
issues
that
are
going
on
on
a
statewide
basis
and
they
have
a
produce
sorcerer
that
works
for
the
GF,
be
a
Georgia
field.
Banker
says:
okay,
that
works
those
relationships
with
farmers
all
over
the
state
to
help
you
know,
get
more
food,
donate
it
to
so.
A
E
And
then
we
are
a
proud
partner
of
United
Way
of
the
Chattahoochee
Valley
you're,
not
part
of
our
partnership.
There
is
19
of
the
other
27
partner
agencies
come
to
us
to
get
food
at
a
very,
very
low
discounted
cost,
and
so
they
impact
that
many
more
people
in
there
and
their
programs
that
they
they
administer.
So
that's
awesome.
Okay,.
E
Not
just
a
local
Muscogee
County
thing
we
cover
14
counties
and
five
thousand
square
miles
north
to
true
peace,
to
sli's
South,
to
claim
we
have
Russell
County
and
Alabama
too
so
14
total
counties.
So
our
trucks
are
on
regular
routes
throughout
that
area
on
a
daily
basis,
either
picking
up
food
or
delivering
food
as
well.
Carly.
A
E
A
A
And
you
wanted
something
as
a
nurse
I
do
realize
that
when
you
don't
have
the
right
nutrition
I
mean
it
stunts,
I
mean
you,
don't
your
body
doesn't
thrive?
You
can't
no
there's
no
way
possible
a
hungry.
Kid
can
even
think
about
concentrating
on
something
in
the
classroom.
Sure
and
when
you
have
days
upon
days
upon
days
of
something
like
that
it
just
it's
just
all
it.
E
C
E
E
Folks
ask
where
the
food
comes
from
and
there
are
a
lot
of
national
donors.
Our
grocery
stores,
Walmart
winn-dixie
Publix
provide
a
lot
of
food
to
us.
A
lot
of
manufacturers
that
are
in
our
region,
tyson,
sara
lee
craft
they'll
donate
a
lot
of
food
as
well,
so
comes
from
many
different
sources
and
some
local
sources
as
well.
Local
farmers
markets,
some
of
the
local
grocery
stores
will
donate
to
us
as
well.
Thank
god.
Oh
it
is
they're
making
they're
making
the
difference
they
realize.
You
know
you
have
two
options.
E
A
That's
just
so
that
supercharges
me
it's
supercharges
my
heart
when
I
realized
that
people
realize
that
it's
not
just
and
their
organization
is
not
just
about
making
money
right.
It's
about
community
and
I
know
you
give
in
your
position.
I
know
you
have
to
stop
and
just
think
about
the
goodness
of
folks
Frank
I
know
you
have
to
I
mean
it's
just.
E
E
It's
a
very
dynamic
operation,
a
lot
of
moving
parts
at
all
times,
so
it
takes
a
dedicated
staff
and
we
keep
our
staff
very
small.
We're
trying
to
be
good
stewards
of
the
the
money
that
that
is
invested
in
our
operation
by
individuals
and
in
the
corporate
and
civic
community.
So
so
the
the
few
of
us
that
are
on
the
job
have
to
wear
many
hats
and
have
to
keep
a
lot
of
plates
spinning.
At
the
same
time,.
A
Because
the
buck
stops
with
you,
but
someone
like
Carly
and
even
the
individuals
they
are
working
with
the
forklifts.
The
young
lady
I,
cannot
believe
that
she's
that
she
stays
that
that
longer
their
freezer,
but
but
she,
where
dad
Justin,
just
a
prime
everybody.
There
had
just
a
positive
attitude.
It
really
made
me
feel
good
when
we.
E
E
Is
too
small?
That's
right,
we
will
individuals
can
drop
food
off
at
any
time.
We
often
have
food
drives
going
at
corporate
and
civic
groups.
You
know
during
the
holidays
that
some
of
our
grocery
stores
are
helping
us
with
food
drives.
Oh
man
and
that's
very
convenient.
We
have
a
great
win
over
Mother's
Day,
where
the
letter
carriers
pick
up
food
from
are.
A
F
E
Put
a
grocery
the
Saturday
for
Mother's
Day
weekend:
yes,
they
put
a
bag.
Full
of
you
know.
Non-Perishable
items
out
in
the
the
the
postal
carriers
are
so
patient
with
us,
so
dedicated
they're,
picking
all
that
food
up
and
bringing
it
back
and
we
collected
and
put
it
to
use
so
food
drives,
make
a
big
difference.
E
A
E
Get
it
out
in
the
community
in
one
way
or
another,
so
our
food
distribution
program
we
work
with
about
275,
partner
agencies,
okay,
they're,
typically,
churches
and
other
charities,
and
we'll
talk
a
little
bit
about
them.
If
we
can,
on
the
on
the
upcoming
slides
there,
a
lot
of
your
civic
groups
in
town
right,
there
are
a
lot
of
your
churches
in
the
area
about
180
or
churches,
and
they
all
come
to
us
and
get
food.
E
A
E
Slide
a
lot
of
those
names
you
recognize.
These
are
all
groups
that
are
coming
to
us
and
getting
food
and
then
helping
individuals
out
at
their
church.
They
might
you
know,
make
meals
or
put
mailboxes
of
food
together,
and
so
many
other
you
know:
community
centers,
YMCA,
Boys
and
Girls
Club
other
United
Way
agencies
and
charities
in
town,
Easter,
Seals,
Brown
Bag
at
Columbus.
So
many
churches
that
you
see
they're
all
coming
to
us
and
getting
that
food
and,
as
I
said,
paying,
that
low
shared
maintenance
fee.
A
Now
I
want
to
tell
you
something
that
I
guess
I
was
living
in
a
bubble
frame,
but
until
I
sat
down
with
Karlin,
because
I
do
know
about
the
valley.
I
do
know
about
the
the
open
door.
I
do
know
about
a
lot
of
churches.
What
they're
doing
dummy
me,
it
didn't
I,
don't
know
why
I
saw
what
Raji
and
I
thought
that
they
were
just
doing
their
own
thing
together,
but
they're
coming
to
y'all
right,
I.
Never
even
thought
about
that!
So
I
sat
down
with
Carlene
and
she
educated
so.
F
A
E
Discounted
rate
of
the
nine
million
pounds
about
60
percent
of
it,
we
give
away
free
of
charge
either
through
kids
programs.
Kids
are
never
charged
for
a
meal
or
from
these
agencies
much
of
the
food
they
get
will
get
in
a
big
load
of
produce.
We
know
is
not,
you
know
going
to
make
it
through
the
weekend,
so
we'll
give
it
out
to
them
most
of
the
produce
we
receive.
We
have
very
large
cooler
and
freezers,
usually.
A
E
A
E
A
E
We
build
it
with
its
31
thousand
square
foot
building,
it's
got
30
foot
ceilings
throughout
the
warehouse,
so
we
can
rank
five
levels
high,
there's
a
lot
of
efficiencies
and
going
vertical,
especially
in
the
cold
storage.
They're.
A
lot
cheaper
to
build
to
maintain
and
the
power
bills
are
actually
the
same
in
this
facility
is
in
our
old
one,
but
we
have
five
times
the
cubic
footage
technology
makes
a
big
difference.
A
E
E
A
other
designs
yeah,
we
don't,
we
don't
want
to
move
again,
so
we'll
be
on
the
property.
For
many
years,
can
we
go
to
the
I
guess
the
next
line
I've
talked
about
that
shared
maintenance
fee
of
only
19
cents
a
pound.
This
is
a
good
example
of
what
the
impact
that
has
if
a
partner
agency
took
ten
dollars
into
a
Sandra,
Costco
Wholesale
on
the
left,
that's
how
much
food
they
get.
A
A
E
A
A
E
Do
it
without
the
volunteers-
and
this
is
a
wonderful
group
of
service
veterans
who
now
live
in
the
community,
they're
retired,
from
active
duty,
and
they
still
want
to
be
involved
and
want
to
help
out,
and
they
do
a
great
job
for
us
and
I
only
come
and
volunteer
at
the
warehouse.
They
volunteer
some
of
our
food
drives,
but
our
mobile
pantry
site,
where
we
give
away
boxes
of
food.
They
have
one
that
they
do.
E
E
E
F
E
A
Of
what
we
do
now
after
you,
let
me
tell
you
something
after
you
made
an
appearance
on
the
public
agenda.
There
were
so
many
people
and
I've
got
my
y'all
can't
see,
but
I
got
a
little
cheat
sheet.
That
conveyed
to
be
able
to
reiterate.
I've
got
so
many
calls
well,
not
only
seniors,
but
on
the
program
with
the
kids
Frank.
This
is
awesome.
Frank
I'm,
not
sure
one
lady
called
me
on
the
phone
she
was,
you
could
tell
she
was
sniffling,
it
touched
her.
You
know.
So,
let's
talk
about
this.
E
F
E
E
E
A
A
E
A
Need
to
have
individuals
that
will
really
not
only
donate
food
but
also
donate
finances
and
which
brings
up
another
saying
because
I
said
Carlene
is
such
a
spokesman.
I
know
that
a
person
can
also
donate
not
only
financially,
but
they
can
donate
their
skills,
because
I
know
that
y'all
I
need
them.
Another
truck
trucks
need
who
mechanics
they
do.
So,
if
there's
any
individual
that
can
volunteer
their
talent
or.
E
A
E
E
Work
with
some
partner
agencies
that
typically
go
to
their
local
elementary
school
might
be
their
partners
in
education,
school
and
say
you
know.
I
want
to
I
want
to
sponsor
a
backpack
for
the
most
chronically
hungry,
kids,
all
right
and
they'll
determine
maybe
they
can
sponsor
30
or
40,
whatever
the
case
may
be,
we
provide
the
food
to
them
and
they
pack
literally
backpacks
full
of
about
eight
to
ten
kid
friendly,
but
nutritious
items
they'll
be
in
in
pull,
tops
things
like
that.
E
A
E
E
F
E
E
We're
now
starting
this
program,
we're
working
with
the
communities
and
schools
of
Central
Georgia
organization
to
put
a
pantry
in
schools.
We
have
two
in
Muscogee
County
when
we
wanting
to
add
more
a
great
resources.
Kids
can
get
things
all
day
long.
They
might
come
into
school
late
and
need
to
get
a
breakfast
bar
or
something
to
hold
them
over.
They
might
have
personal
items
that
they
need
at
home,
and
you
know
know
that
they're
there,
parents
can't
afford
it
at
the
time.
F
E
A
A
E
E
A
E
F
E
Couldn't
afford
we
can
take
individuals,
there
are
kids
doing
community
service
for
their
schools
in
corporate
groups.
Church
groups
that
want
to
come
in
you
can
just
call
our
main
number
ask
for
the
volunteer
coordinator
and
we
accept
volunteers
each
day
of
the
week,
particularly
Monday,
through
Thursday
full
day's
and
a
half
day
Fridays.
So
we
can
use
individuals
at
all
time,
helping
us
out
and
I.
A
E
E
A
E
We
want
to
help
want
to
grow
our
food,
more
food.
We
can
grow
than
the
more
we
can
give
away.
So
we
had
a
group
eco
landscaping
that
helped
us,
along
with
Publix,
who
did
a
day
of
service
to
build,
raised
beds
and
then
to
grow
food
on
our
property.
So
we're
now
growing
fresh
fruits
and
vegetables
to
be
able
to.
A
A
E
E
E
Easiest
way
our
website
address
