A
Hello,
I
am
charnae
ware
executive
director
of
keep
columbus,
beautiful,
an
amazing
organization
that
wants
to
help
you
be
better
stewards
of
our
environment
by
creating
a
cleaner,
greener
and
more
sustainable
columbus.
On
our
last
segment.
We
talked
all
about
how
you
can
do
your
part
and
recycle
right.
B
You
been
counted
in
the
2020
u.s
census
results
for
georgia
and
columbus
show
that
we
currently
lag
behind
national
participation
rates.
Your
participation
is
essential.
Did
you
know
that
decisions
about
where
to
build
hospitals?
How
to
allocate
emergency
medical
equipment
like
ventilators,
masks
and
protective
gear
which
are
critical
during
a
pandemic,
are
driven
by
the
data
that
you
and
I
provide
to
the
u.s
census.
B
Census
results
affect
planning
funding
for
health
care,
such
as
medicaid,
medicare,
part
b,
state
children's
health
insurance
and
the
prevention
and
treatment
of
substance,
abuse,
census,
results,
influence,
highway,
planning
and
construction.
They
help
determine
how
money
is
allocated
for
the
head
start
program,
snap
and
grants
that
support
special
education
without
an
accurate
count.
We
could
lose
much
of
that
financial
support.
B
More
than
675
billion
dollars
in
federal
funds
are
distributed
to
the
states
based
on
census
data,
the
census
bureau
estimates,
local
municipalities,
like
columbus,
will
lose
about
fifteen
hundred
dollars
per
person
per
year
in
federal
funding
for
every
person
not
counted
in
the
2020
census.
I'm
asking
every
citizen
of
columbus
to
participate
in
the
2020
census.
You
can
register
online
by
phone
or
by
mail
visit
my2020census.gov,
and
you
can
complete
the
process
in
less
than
five
minutes.
We're
counting
on
you.
A
Did
you
know
over
350
million
pair
of
shoes
are
placed
in
the
landfill
annually
and
take
over
1
000
years
to
decompose
that
takes
up
a
lot
of
space
in
our
landfill
serving
absolutely
no
purpose?
Well,
here
is
the
sad
fact.
According
to
the
u.s
agency
for
international
development,
the
number
of
children
around
the
world
who
have
never
owned
a
pair
of
shoes,
also
equals
300
million.
Can
you
imagine
without
having
a
pair
of
shoes?
C
Surprisingly,
the
number
of
children
around
the
world
who
have
never
owned
a
pair
of
shoes,
also
equals
300
million.
This
is
why
we
need
your
help.
Our
shoe
campaign
relies
on
your
shoe
donations
to
help
divert
shoes
from
our
landfill
and
repurpose
them
for
developing
countries
by
donating
gently,
worn
and
new
shoes
to
the
keep
columbus
beautiful
shoe
campaign.
The
shoes
will
be
given
a
second
chance
and
make
a
difference
in
people's
lives
around
the
world.
A
By
you
donating
your
shoes
to
keep
columbus,
beautiful,
you're,
giving
those
souls
a
second
chance
and
you're
making
a
difference
to
lives
around
the
world,
for
example
in
haiti
there's
so
many
ways
you
can
do
your
part
to
be
a
part
of
the
solution
and
not
the
pollution.
Keep
columbus
beautiful,
has
partnered
with
columbus,
consolidated
government's
waste
division
to
encourage
you
to
keep
hazardous
waste
out
of
the
landfills,
we'll
be
having
our
free
household
hazardous
waste
collection
on
october
3rd
from
9am
to
1
p.m.
At
the
columbus
recycle
center.
A
This
is
located
at
8001
pine
grove
way.
You
can
list
the
items
that
we
will
be
accepted
on
our
website.
That
website
is
columbus,
www.columbusg
dot,
gov
forward,
slash,
keep
c-o-l-s
beautiful
under
the
special
events
tab
you
will
find
that
list,
but
before
we
jump
into
our
upcoming
events,
let's
answer
a
couple
of
questions
from
our
viewers
user
rapunzel
005
asked:
is
there
any
effort
to
respond
to
glass
recycling?
A
Well,
that's
a
great
question.
So
we've
worked
with
columbus
recycles
recently
and
we'll
be
providing
glass
recycling
really
soon
in
your
community,
but
not
just
yet
so.
Hang
tight
and
be
sure
to
download
the
columbus
recycles
app
to
be
informed
when
we
do
start
glass
recycling,
but
we
have
hurt
your
concerns
and
we
will
be
bringing
that
back.
A
Our
next
question
comes
from
elizabeth.graham64.
What
kind
of
boxes
can
I
place
in
my
recycle
bin?
That's
an
excellent
question.
You
can
place
any
type
of
box
in
your
recycling
bin.
The
only
thing
to
that
is.
It
cannot
have
wax
on
it.
For
example,
those
silk
milk
cartons
have
a
lot
of
waxy
components
on
the
outside
of
that
box,
so
we
actually
can't
take
those
at
our
specific
columbus
recycles
facility.
A
I
hope
those
were
helpful
responses
and
if
you
have
any
further
questions-
or
you
just
want
to
give
us
your
concerns,
send
us
your
questions
to
kcbc1987
at
columbusga.org
and
we'll
be
sure
to
answer
them
here
on
our
next
segment.
Well
speaking
of
questions,
we
heard
your
request
and
your
question
and
we
will
be
partnering
with
the
better
business
bureau
and
shred
away
to
bring
you
yet
another
community
shred
drive
through
this
will
be
strictly
drive
through.
A
It
is
important
to
make
sure
you
are
getting
rid
of
all
those
sensitive
documents
and
properly
avoiding
identity,
theft
and
fraud.
You
don't
want
anyone,
stealing
your
information,
so
be
sure
to
save
this
date
october,
17th
from
8am
to
12
pm
at
the
columbus
technical
parking
lot
we'll
be
having
our
community
shred
drive
through
in
case
you
missed
any
of
that
information
be
sure
to
download
the
columbus
ga
recycles
app
here
on
your
screen
and
you'll,
be
able
to
download
and
see
the
calendar
for
when
your
collection
and
recycle
events
will
be.
A
A
This
is
an
app
that
you
can
record
your
trash
that
you're
picking
up
and
you
can
create
your
teams
using
the
code.
Hth
2020
on
your
screen,
you'll
find
more
information
for
literati.
This
can
be
downloaded
through
your
app
store.
We
also
want
to
take
this
moment
to
thank
those
of
you
who
have
already
registered
for
help.
The
hooch
we
look
forward
to
keeping
our
city
and
our
water
supply
clean.
We
can't
do
it
without
you.
Well,
that's
all
I
have
for
you
guys
today.
