A
Hello
and
welcome
to
this
is
public
house
I'm,
Pamela
Kirkland,
with
the
Columbus
Health
Department,
and
today
we're
going
to
be
talking
about
something
that
I
think,
even
though
it's
primarily
an
issue
for
women.
We
all
have
women
in
our
lives,
so
we're
talking
today
about
the
breast
and
cervical
cancer
program
that
is
offered
at
the
Health
Department
and
joining
me
today
is
Rebecca
my
grant,
who
works
with
the
breast
and
cervical
cancer
program.
We
sometimes
call
it
the
BCC
P
for
short,
but
welcome
Rebecca.
Thank
you
for
being
here.
A

A
B
B
Training
and
diagnosis
there's
a
need
for
Diagnostics.
We
do
have
several
women
with
concerns.
They
may
enter
our
program
with
a
with
a
breast
exam
that
they've
done
on
their
own
with
their
monthly
breast
exams.
I
have
found
something
and
are
questioning
whether
or
not
they
need
diagnostics
and
are
concerned,
and
we
we
merit
their
concern
by
getting
a
nurse
to
check
them
out
at
our
County
Health
Department's
and
then.
A
B
A
B
If
the
doctor
found
it
and
wanted
to
refer
her
to
the
program
for
Diagnostics,
that
is
something
that
we
help
with
and
once
they
come
in
to
the
health
department,
the
staff
at
the
front
desk
normally
processes
them
through
the
program
based
on
the
the
income
guidelines.
Okay
and
whether
or
not
they're
eligible
once
they
are
qualified
for
the
program.
They
come
back
to
the
back,
see
a
nurse
practitioner
or
either
see
a
a
regular
RN
or
BSN.
C
B
A
B
There's
a
diagnostic
mammogram
needed,
it
can
be
say
they
found
lumps
in
both
breasts
the
right
in
the
left.
It
would
be
considered
a
bilateral
diagnostic
mammogram.
They
send
them
four
and
an
ultrasound
because
a
lot
of
the
times
we
find
that
the
older,
the
women
are
through
our
program
that
there
may
be
a
need
for
them
to
actually
look
at
certain
things
in
the
breasts
relating
to
calcifications
or
density
in
the
breasts
that
the
radiologist
is
seeing
that
there
is
a
need
for
the
ultrasound
to
be
done
as
well.
B
B
A
B
B
So
if
they're
getting
a
yearly
mammogram
and
they
haven't
had
any
prior
problems,
then
naturally
we're
going
to
send
them
for
screening
yearly.
But
if
say,
the
radiologist
sees
something
that
they
they
really
can't
determine.
They
can
send
them
back
to
us
and
say
we
need
Diagnostics,
and
in
that
case
we
would
then
order
the
diagnostic
mam
and
ultrasound
at
that
time.
So
there's
never
any
need
to
worry
about
us.
Not.
You
know
us
dropping
the
care
need
right.

Some
say
he
cigarettes
aren't
dangerous,
but
science
shows
nicotine
can
harm
teens,
developing
brains,
no
matter
how
they're
exposed.
Let's
do
an
experiment
to
find
out
here's
the
team
who
won't
be
using
e-cigarettes
nominee
when
willing
to
risk
their
brain
development.
Anyone
care
to
volunteer
your
kid.
Anyone

C
A
B
A
B
Cervical
cancer
part
of
the
program
is
meant
for,
ladies,
that
are
age
20
and,
above
once
they
turn
the
age
of
20.
They
can
get
a
pap
done
under,
they
will
come
under
family
planning
originally,
but
the
breast
and
cervical
cancer
program
actually
picks
up
the
cost
of
that
path
of
smear
and
the
lab
cost.
So
any
any
pap
smear
that
is
done
under
our
county
health
department's
is
covered
by
a
grant
provided
to
the
breast
and
cervical
cancer
program.
For
that,
once
they
get
a
pap
smear
done
at
the
County
Health
Department.
B
B
A
B
They
have
an
abnormal
pap
smear.
We
then
can
determine
based
on
the
abnormality
whether
there
is
a
need
for
that
colposcopy
send
them
to
a
GYN
that
can
do
it.
That
is
contracted
with
our
program
and
we
will
send
them.
You
know
most
of
the
time
they're
within
not
far
from
the
counties
in
which
you
know
they
reside.
So
you
know
if
they
resided
in
in
Columbus,
there's
a
place
in
Columbus
to
send
them
if
they
resided
in
Americas,
there's
a
place
in
America
that
we
can
send
them
so
that
okay,
they're
close.
A
That's
really
good
that
these
programs
are
not
just
oh
gee.
We
found
this
and
you're
gonna
have
to
find
somebody
else
to
fix
it.
You
know
you.
This
program
is
more
complete
than
that,
and
it
actually
refers
these
women
to
places
and
in
facilities
where
they
can
get
extensive
Diagnostics
so
that
they
can
find
out.
You
know
what
they
need
to
do
to
stay
healthy
and
to
be
healthy,
right.
I.
B
B
We
work
with
surgeons,
we
work
with
gynecologists,
we
work
with
different
facilities.
We
have
seven
contracted
facilities
in
the
in
our
district
that
we
are
contracted
with
to
them
for
mammogram
and
diagnostic
mammograms
and
biopsies.
So
we
have
any
outlets,
many
ways
to
branch
out
and
refer,
and
we
definitely
want
to
make
sure
that
we
take
care
of
our
patients
the
best
we
can
write.
A
B
Have
had
many
cases
throughout
the
years
that
really
stick
out
my
mind.
One
in
particular
is
a
lady
that
was,
she
was
a
part-time
employee
at
a
store
she
first
resided
in
Alabama
originally
and
came
and
moved
over
to
Georgia
and
did
not
know
where
to
go
for
when
she
found
out
that
she
had
the
possibility
of
a
lump
that
had
come
back
in
her
breasts
because
she
had
had
cancer
before
in
her
breasts
when
she
was
in
Alabama.
B
That
she
did
not
have
health
insurance,
so
she
got
my
phone
number
personally
from
the
head
office
at
the
state
level
and
then
contacted
me
and
I
gave
her.
All
the
information
of
the
program
made
sure
that
we
had
her
referred
the
right
direction
and
we
had
many
conversations
after
that,
because
I
mean
naturally
the
the
word
cancer
drives
a
fear
in
a
lot
of
ladies,
it
sure
does
and
it
can
be.
It
can
be
scary
that
you
know
not
just
for
women
who
have
the
new
finding,
but
for
women
that
have
the
recurrent
okay.
B
B
A
B
A
B
Lot
of
churches
and
organizations
within
the
counties
do
help
fair
some
of
our
facilities
that
were
contracted
with
through
health
Fair's
throughout
the
year.
We
we
try
to
be
proactive
in
getting
out
there
and
talking
to
our
ladies
in
our
counties,
through
our
health
departments,
getting
out
there
and
doing
health
Fair's
and
presenting
the
information
to
the
patients,
but
most
of
the
time
we
find
that
a
lot
of
the
ladies
that
are
really
scared
to
come
in.
It
may
take
a
while
before
we
ever
are
able
to
make
them
see
them.
B
A
B
A
lot
of
our
contract
facilities
do
the
you
know
free
mammograms
in
October,
and
sometimes
we
even
find
that
they
get.
We
get
a
lot
of
referrals
at
that
time
from
office
these,
because
a
lot
of
the
ladies
that
get
those
free
mammograms
at
that
time
from
them
they
have
a
you
know
something
that
the
radiologist
finds
and
refers
them
to
us.
So
it
has
been
a
very
good
way
for
us
to
network
with
our
facilities
and
network,
with
other
things
like
the
belt
mobile
unit,
that
does
with
the
Belk
stores.
B
So
when
the
built
in
mobile
unit
finds
one
that
they
need
to
refer,
they
they
reach
out
to
us.
They,
you
know,
let
us
know
what
county
the
patient
lives
in.
We
send
them
to
the
County
Health
Department,
and
then
we
move
forward.
So
it's
always
a
step
in
place
for
any
abnormality
or
even
just
to
get
the
lady
screened
is
just
our
real
right
excited.
A
B
A
F
Steve
Anderson,
mayor
of
Columbus
Georgia.
You
know
there
are
a
lot
of
resources
within
our
community
that
most
folks
don't
think
of
as
city
services,
and
yet
your
tax
dollars
go
to
help
support
them.
One
such
organization
is
the
health
department.
The
health
department
provides
a
wide
range
of
activities
and
services
that
you
need
to
know
how
to
access.
Let's
go
visit
them
and
take
a
look
hi.
A
I'm
Pamela
Kirkland
with
the
Columbus
Health
Department.
You
know
we
have
a
lot
of
great
restaurants
here
in
town
and
if
you'd
like
to
open
a
food
service
establishment,
this
video
will
explain
some
of
the
things
that
you
need
to
know.
The
first
thing
you
need
to
do
is
complete
an
application
packet
from
the
Environmental
Health
Department,
which
can
be
picked
up
at
our
office,
requested
by
mail
or
by
downloading
from
our
website
columbus
health.com.
A
There
are
different
requirements
based
on
the
type
of
food
service
establishment
you
want
to
open,
regardless
of
the
type
you'll
need
to
supply
a
complete
menu
of
the
foods
you
plan
to
offer,
as
well
as
a
floor
plan
or
diagram
of
the
kitchen
and
the
types
of
equipment
that
you'll
be
using,
along
with
the
manufacturer's
specifications
for
that
equipment.
You'll
also
need
to
have
approval
from
the
Columbus
Fire
Marshal
and
the
Columbus
Water
Works.
A
A
We
hope
this
video
has
been
helpful
if
you'd,
like
more
information,
please
give
us
a
call
at
7:06
three,

or

the

at
columbus,
health.com
welcome
back
we're
just
wrapping
up
with
Rebecca
migrant
who
works
with
the
breast
and
cervical
cancer
program
in
the
health
departments
here
in
Georgia.
So
Rebecca
are
there
certain
days
or
times
that
these
women
can
come
in
and
get
checked
out
for
breast
or
cervical
cancer
and
go
through
your
program
or
or
what?
How
does
that
work?
Most.
B
Counties
have
the
appointment
scheduled
already
in
their
systems
for
the
breast
and
cervical
cancer
program.
If
there
is
an
abnormality
that
they
find
and
they
want
to
get
in
as
soon
as
possible.
My
suggestion
is
they
don't
to
the
nurse
manager
of
that
County
to
find
out
how
much
sooner
they
can
get
in,
but
other
than
that,
the
the
appointments
don't
get
booked
up
as
as
fast
as
you
would
think.
So
it
would
be.
You
know,
in
their
best
interest,
to
call
as
soon
as
they
know.
Okay,.
A
So
there's
not
set
times
I
mean
they're.
They
need
to
just
call
the
County
Health
Department,
where
they're
living
and
they
can
set
up
the
appointment
and
talk
to
the
nurse
manager
that
day
and
and
get
things
rolling
right
right.
Okay,
so
go
over
again
with
us.
The
age
requirements
for
the
breast
cancer
part
and
the
cervical
cancer
part
the.
A
A
A
B
B
A
B
A
Right,
so
all
you
need
to
do
to
get
started
is
just
get
started
and
then
we
can
help
you
with
the
rest.
Well,
thank
you
very
much
