In honor of Pride Month, the City of Cupertino hosted a flag raising ceremony on Thursday, June 1 at the Civic Center Plaza. The rainbow flag will remain up for the entire month of June.

The event includes featured presentations from the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office, the Santa Clara County Fire Department, 988 Crisis Intervention, the Green Blocks Curriculum, Citizen Corps, and Block Leader Programs.

The Campbell Youth Commission, the Cupertino Youth Activity Board, and the Saratoga Youth Commission present this special election program featuring the Mayors of Cupertino, Saratoga, and Campbell; a Fremont Union High School District (FUHSD) candidate forum; and a special teen debate segment featuring local high school students.

The Mayor’s Cup Challenge is an event designed to challenge our community to think about a complex social problem from different perspectives. The inaugural event, held on May 14 at the newly expanded Cupertino Library, focused on plastics and what to do about the growing environmental issues associated with them through the lenses of science, policy, and industry.

This Cupertino Library Expansion Gala and Ribbon Cutting celebrates the grand opening of the 5,600-square-foot, two-story addition to the south side of the existing Cupertino Library.

Speakers include Cupertino Mayor Darcy Paul, California State Representative Evan Low, city councilmembers, city commissioners, representatives from City of Cupertino and the Cupertino Library staff, members from the design and construction teams, and other members of the community.

The event also features a video recording by U.S. Representative Ro Khanna.

This groundbreaking ceremony, celebrating the beginning of the construction phase of the Westport Cupertino mixed-use development project, was recorded on February 26, 2022. The Cupertino City Council, along with Congressman Ro Khanna, Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian, and development representatives share their thoughts on the project, which will bring much needed affordable housing and senior living options to the Silicon Valley region.

On December 11, 2021 Mayor Darcy Paul hosted a panel discussion regarding the Chinese Exclusion Act. The 1882 law made it illegal for Chinese workers to come to America and for Chinese nationals already in the U.S. to become citizens. The panel included Stanford University professor Gordon Chang, author Connie Young Yu, and Executive Director of the Angel Island Immigration Station Foundation Edward Tepporn.

This workshop is the second in the series of three to discuss Cupertino’s Climate Action Plan 2.0 development. We start the workshop with an overview of the climate hazards Cupertino is facing, then give an overview of what we have done so far. We spend most of the meeting in a discussion setting getting feedback from audience members about potential changes that we could implement in the next 10 to 20 years.

This historical documentary was originally produced as a celebration of Cupertino's 60th anniversary as an incorporated city in 2015 (1955-2015) and has been re-released for Cupertino's 65th anniversary in 2020.

This documentary, produced in 1993, chronicles the early days of Cupertino through oral histories provided by members of some of the city's pioneer families. Historical photographs donated by the Cupertino Historical Museum and by the families themselves supplement these personal narratives. Produced by the Cupertino City Channel. (30 min.)
