From YouTube: Public Safety Forum 2015: Mayor's Welcome
Description
Cupertino Mayor, Rod Sinks welcomes the Public Safety Forum attendees.
A
Thank
you
for
joining
us
tonight.
My
name
is
Rick
kitson
I'm,
the
public
affairs
director
for
the
city
of
Cupertino.
We
are
very
fortunate
to
be
here
in
cupertino,
where
we
have
access
to
incredible
community
resources
and
public
organizations,
many
of
whom
are
here
tonight
recently.
We've
had
some
some
unfortunate
situations,
some
of
them
residential
burglaries,
we've
had
a
missing
child
found
safely
and
any
number
of
possibilities
that
happened
during
the
day
to
day
lives
that
we
live
here
in
cupertino.
A
So
our
city
council
asked
us
to
come
together
to
share
as
much
information
as
we
could
about
steps
that
people
could
take
and
services
that
are
available
to
our
community
to
help
us
lead
the
the
safe
and
productive
lives
that
I
think
most
of
us
want
to
lead.
If
you
don't
want
to
lead
that
kind
of
life,
then
you're
in
the
wrong
meeting.
Okay,
so
we
have
a
lot
of
ground
to
cover.
A
We
can't
answer
every
possible
question
right
here
right
now,
but
we
can
answer
just
about
every
question
you
have
with
the
help
of
all
the
people
and
organizations
that
we
have
here
today.
So
if
you
have
a
question,
we're
going
to
be
sending
you
off
to
the
to
either
the
deputies
or
fired
fire
employees,
the
one
of
the
fire
chiefs
is
here:
we've
got
their
Pio.
We've
got
some
of
their
excellent
staff.
We
have
Public
Safety
commissioners,
a
block
leader
program,
loreley
award-winning
program,
Stephanie
Tarini,
neighborhood
watch.
We
also
have
Adam
from
our
GIS
team.
A
Who
is,
if
you
want
to
see
these
excellent
maps
about
what's
going
on
in
cupertino,
he
and
Terry
have
put
those
together,
but
before
we
get
too
much
into
that,
I
want
to
first
of
all
introduce
our
esteemed
mayor,
who
will
have
a
few
comments
about
what
we're
going
to
be
doing
here
tonight.
Mayor
sinks,.
B
So
I'm
not
going
to
repeat
everything
Rick
said,
but
everything
in
Rick
said
we
have
concerns.
We
have
valid
concerns.
We've
seen
criminal
activity
rise
on
an
average
over
time.
I
think
we
have
some
good
news
to
talk
about
tonight
about
that
and,
more
importantly,
the
process
we
can
use
as
folks
in
the
community
to
improve
what
we're
doing-
and
this
is
been
a
focus
not
only
of
me
but
the
staff
as
well
as
the
sheriff,
as
well
as
our
Public
Safety
Commission,
as
well
as
santa
clara
county
fire.
B
B
B
That's
the
really
good
news
and
tonight
you're
going
to
hear
more
about
that
in
various
dimensions
and
aspects,
and
we
are
going
to
hear,
for
example,
for
starters
from
deputy
Sam
gore
and
Sam
is
going
to
review
activities
and
services
available
from
the
sheriff's
office
and
our
our
Police
Department
right.
Stephanie
Tarini
from
our
city
staff
will
cover
our
neighborhood
watch
program
and
the
very
best
ways
to
be
safe.
B
Ken
Erickson,
also
of
our
city
staff,
will
address
basics
on
what
you
can
do
to
prepare
and
what
your
role
is
in
an
emergency
that
we
and
we
have
them
from
time
to
time
and
it's
great
to
be
prepared,
and
so
our
Public
Safety
Commission
is
weighing
in
as
well
and
they're
going
to
talk
about
pulse
point
tonight.
They
represented
by
Andy,
Huang
and
Rob
McCoy
and
I.
B
Will
let
you
in
on
a
little
secret,
there
was
a
life
saved
in
sunnyvale
back
in
April,
thanks
to
pulse
point
yeah,
it's
it's
quite
a
story,
and
if
you're
not
already
using
the
pulse
point
I'm
sure
by
the
end,
you
will
have
it
downloaded
and
ready
to
go
from
the
fire
department.
The
Santa
Clara
County,
Fire
Department,
that
serves
us
so
well.
B
You'll
be
hearing
from
Stephanie
the
public
information
officer
and
chief
Kendall
Pearson
they're,
going
to
be
discussing
the
find
the
ad
contest
results
there
explore
Expo
program
for
youth
and
what
the
Santa
Clara
County
Department
fire
department
does
for
us
as
a
community
and
serving
us
and
keeping
us
safe
from
our
city
staff
expert
in
GIS,
Terry
Gerhart
will
be
presenting
a
out
how
we
use
geographic
information
systems
in
the
city,
and
these
maps
are
super
interesting.
I've,
never
seen
them
before
so
I'm.
B
Looking
forward
to
taking
a
look
at
myself
and
then
needy
will
be
presenting
on
the
various
apps.
What's
Nita's
last
name
here,
it's
not
written!
Now.
Where
are
you
Mathur?
Yes,
thank
you
we'll
be
presenting
on
the
various
apps
that
the
city
has
that
allow
you
to
be
connected
and
it's
by
being
connected
and
being
watchful
with
each
other
that
we
work
can
work
effectively
on
this
program
together.
So
without
further
ado,
I'm
going
to
call
up
deputy
Sam
Gore
to
kick
off
our
program
this
evening.
Thank
you.
