Description
Dearborn Heights City Council Meeting taking place October 10th, 2017.

E
Good
evening
council
mayor
in
our
residence
and
the
tenants
tonight,
we
got
a
special
privilege
and
honor
to
present
an
award
to
sergeant
Scott
Keller
with
our
Police
Department
I'm
gonna
read
in
a
few
minutes
here
what
he
did
that
day,
but
first
I'm
gonna
read
a
little
about
the
award
so
he's
going
to
get
award
tonight
from
the
Carnegie
Hero
fund
Commission
and
it
was
established
in
1904
by
Andrew
Carnegie.
The
Carnegie
Hero
fund
Commission
was
created
to
recognize
outstanding
acts
of
selfless
heroism
performed
in
the
United
States
and
Canada.
E
You
hold
that
and
we'll
open
it
up
shortly.
So
I'll
read
what
sergeant
Keller
did
he
saved
the
life
of
use
of
salaam
from
a
burning,
different
heights
location,
building
on
July,
19
2016
Yusef
was
seven
years
old
and
he
was
on
the
second
floor
of
the
family's
two-story
townhouse
after
a
fire
broke
out
in
the
kitchen
and
on
the
first
floor
and
the
smoke
filled,
the
building
so
sergeant
Keller
was
on
duty
at
the
time
officer
Keller.
We
did
such
a
good
job.
E
We
promoted
him,
so
he
responded
to
the
scene
where
he
learned
that
Yusef
was
in
the
house.
In
the
burning
house,
Keller
went
to
his
hands
and
knees
and
crawled
the
short
distance
into
the
house.
Shouting
for
Yusef
the
young
man
responded
but
was
unable
to
breathe
so
Keller
so
sergeant,
Keller
exited
the
unit
Ferrer,
given
a
shirt
that
he
held
to
his
face
sergeant
Keller
re-entered
the
structure
and
again
crawling
followed
the
sound
of
use
of
his
voice.
E
After
advancing
about
ten
feet,
sergeant
Keller
stood
and
ran
to
the
base
of
the
stairs
leading
to
the
second
floor.
He
went
part
way
up
two
stairs
finding
use
of
standing
I'm.
One
of
the
steps
sergeant
Keller
picked
him
up,
holding
the
young
man
in
the
shirt
against
his
face.
He
descended
down
the
steps
and
returned
to
the
front
door,
exiting
this
front
door
and
he
handed
Yusef
over
to
another
person
and
then
sergeant
Keller,
collapsed.
E
E
Okay,
congratulations.
You
see
our
firefighters
get
to
the
scene
first,
but
sergeant
Keller
was
out
on
the
road
that
day
and
he
responded
first
and
it
shows
that
we
work
as
a
team.
You
know
we
got
there.
First,
he
got
there
first
and
he
wouldn't
in
action
and
save
this
young
man's
life.
So
the
award
is
presented
from
the
Carnegie
Foundation
and
I'd
like
lift
it
up.
There.
E

D
B
K
B
L
J
F
J
J
J
The
the
next
one
is
six
five,
four
cannon
truck
equipment:
I,
just
don't
know
what
kind
of
equipments
were
buying
parts
for
I
mean
it's
aerial
truck
I,
don't
know
what
the
aerial
truck
is
parts
of
service
for
an
aerial
trucks
and
if
it's
an
aerial
truck,
which
means
there's
a
boom
on
it.
Why
is
water
Department
paying
for
that,
since
our
water
stuff
is
on
the
ground
and
not
up
in
the
air?
J
A
J
That,
while
you're
there
cuz
I've
got
major
streets
on
six
twelve,
they
give
job
numbers,
but
they
never
really
say
you
know:
215
Street,
project,
Street,
repair
projects,
but
I,
don't
maybe
I'm
missing
it
of
where
the
streets
are.
It
would
be
nice
to
know
and
I.
Think
I've
asked
for
this
before
when
they
put
designers
put
the
streets
on
here
that
they
they're
charged
and
get
to
I
mean
it's.
You
probably
know
where
they're
at
but
I,
don't
think
any
of
us
know
where
they're
at.
A
J
See
that
would
be
nice
to
know.
That's
why
question
it
like
I,
don't
know
that
and
then
the
other
one
is
616
of
the
sewer
cleaning
and
I
know
we
put
on
a
we
wrote.
Oh,
we
wrote
an
ordinance
about
the
grease
traps
and
we
hired
a
grease
trap
inspector
I'd
like
to
know.
If
that
has
been
been
an
ongoing
thing,
have
they
gone
out
and
checked
if
there's
records
that
they
have
checked?
Where
are
those
records
and
can
I
see
them
and
if
they
found
anything.
M
We've
been
on
a
regular,
almost
daily
basis,
we're
getting
businesses
either
faxing
or
mailing
in
their
grease
reports
to
us.
They
have
to
hire
a
company
if
they
haven't
already
had
a
company
and
they
have
to
show
what's
being
removed,
how
much
of
it's
being
removed.
It's
documented
by
the
company
that
they
contract
with
and.
J
M
J
C
K
J
B
G
I'd
like
to
move
that
City
Council
approve
dome
corporation
to
complete
the
work,
as
required
for
the
salt
dome
bid,
as
outlined
in
7a,
I
need
to
state
that
the
lowest
bid
came
in
at
a
hundred
and
thirty
nine
thousand
two
hundred
and
forty,
which
is
19
thousand
two
hundred
and
forty
dollars
over
our
budget.
At
two
thousand
two
thousand
six
2017-2018
budget,
the
additional
funds
will
come
from
Tiffa
in
the
amount
of
nine
thousand
240
and
the
remaining
from
10,000
from
the
highway
department.
G
N
Is
a
question
for
public
service
administrator
bill
Zimmer?
So
just
a
clarification.
I
looked
at
the
three
bids
and
I'm
familiar
with
the
particular
salt
dome
and
I.
Looked
at
the
estimates
I'm
either
between
you
know,
139,
all
up
to
about
173
385
I
was
just
in
and
just
to
clarify
it.
For
me,
I
mean
in
my
mind,
I.
Never
thought
would
be
even
anywhere
near
that
type
of
a
number
we're
talking
about
one
hundred
and
forty
thousand
dollars
to
take
down
a
salt
dome
and
I've
seen
it
from
the
outside.
N
A
A
Care
needs
to
be
taking
when
it's
removed
actually
physically
from
the
foundation,
so
the
foundation
isn't
damaged.
If
we
were
going
to
replace
some
of
the
foundation
as
well,
it
would
be
another
100
to
150
thousand
so
I
mean
it
is.
It
is
a
large
structure
and
some
of
the
fasteners
required
our
specific
material
and
and
strength.
So
there's
a
lot
of
things
need
to
be
taken
into
consideration.
The
demolition
part
of
it
is
is
a
huge
part
of
the
cost.
A
B
Right.
Thank
you.
Any
further
discussion
hearing,
none
all
those
in
favor
of
the
motion.
Please
state
aye
aye
those
opposed
the
eyes
have
it.
Next
item
on
the
agenda
item
9a
from
administrative
assistant,
christine
Laszlo
additional
fiber
make
ready
fees
for
the
telephone
system
upgrade
mr.
chair
councilman.
G
J
As
I
want
these
phones
to
be
upgraded
god,
I
wanted
to
be
upgraded.
Real
fast
I
have
a
hard
time
with
this,
because
I
can't
believe
that
somebody
comes
out
and
gives
us
a
bid,
then
turns
around
and
wants
an
additional
amount
of
money
that
the
city
be
responsible
for
fiber,
make
ready
fees
that
should
have
already
been
included
in
the
original
bid.
Okay,
they
know
what's
going
on
it
says:
I,
don't
think
this.
This
is
the
first
time
they've
done
this,
so
I
can't
understand
why
they
keep
coming
back
and
asking
for
more
money.
J
When
I
mean
this
is
twenty
two
thousand
nine
hundred
and
sixteen
dollars
they
keep
coming
back
for
more
money,
I
mean
it's
like
you
know:
I'm
gonna
build
you
a
house
first
time,
I
build
a
house.
Well,
I
forgot,
I
have
to
put
electrical
wire
in
and
I
forgot
to
put
the
plumbing
in
it.
They've
done
this
before
they
should
have
known.
That
was
part
of
the
original
bid,
and
that's
the
hard
part
I
have
about
this.
J
F
They
are
involved
in
the
process,
although
Mary
Stegner
is
considered
to
be
an
expert
in
this
particular
area
and
as
an
advocate
on
our
particular
behalf,
some
of
the
difficulties
that
GPE
has
run
into
has
caused
this
increase.
Most
of
the
project
was
paid
for
by
the
grant,
but
there
are
some
additional
costs
and
there
are
responsibilities.
I.
J
Understand
that,
but
the
big
thing
is,
is
they're
requiring
the
city
to
be
responsible
for
fiber
make
ready
fees,
those
fees
should
have
already
been
known
about,
and
it
should
have
been
part
of
the
whole
package.
This
is
you
know
all
of
a
sudden.
They
come
back
okay
next
week,
there's
a
well.
We
got
more
fees
for
you
to
pay.
J
When
does
it
stop
any
I
mean
if
you're
an
expert
you
should
know
those
fees
were
already
going
to
be
in
there
if
you're,
an
expert
and
that's
my
problem
with
it
now
I,
I'm,
gonna,
say:
I
approve
this
because
I
want
these
phones
to
be
fixed
because
every
time
I
get
a
call
from
whomever
comes
up
city
clerk,
and
then
you
got
a
call
back
that
number
and
goes
through
the
city
clerk.
Well,
we
didn't
call
you
yeah.
O
O
Maintenance,
apparently
it's
not
so
I
pulled
them
from
Council,
because
I
didn't
want
to
have
them
come
back
for
this,
and
then
them
come
back
again.
So
this
is
the
last
amount
and
I
told
him.
I
wasn't
taking
it
to
Council
till
we
pulled
everything
so
am
calm.
Last
week,
if
you
saw
the
AMCOM
trucks,
they
pulled
everything.
These
are
the
last
fees.
It's
done.
O
B
G
F
Chairman
there
we're
always
looking
for
opportunities,
but
because
of
the
fact
it's
a
court
building
and
a
police
building
a
lot
of
possibilities
just
can't
happen
as
a
result
of
the
security
and
the
information,
but
I'm
very
appreciative
that
the
Wayne
County
Prosecutor
Kenworthy
is
continuing
interested
in
this
particular
property,
and
it
has
been
beneficial
both
for
our
police
department
in
cases
they've
operated
with
by
having
the
prosecutor
located.
So
it's
it's
a
good
plus
for
everyone,
and
city's
gonna
get
thirty
four
thousand
two
hundred
dollars
any.
B
G
D
N
Questions
for
Council
Gary
I
spoke
with
you
on
an
earlier
today
and
just
for
a
clarification
for
other
council
members.
We
talked
about
a
couple
different
clauses
that
you're
looking
to
incorporate
in
this
thing
for
protection,
so
that
we
don't
go
through
the
same
process
that
we
went
through
with
the
last.
If
you're
not
called
tenant
situation,
do
you
mind
discussing
with
the
council
just
to
reiterate
it
and
part
of
the
rest
of
the
council
different
conditions
that
we're
talking
about?
We.
P
Have
some
clarifications
with
spec
to
the
duties
and
the
penalty
and
late
fee
which
we
did
not
necessarily
have
before
some
of
the
terms
are
going
to
be
negotiable,
though,
as
we've
talked
about
you
and
I
discussed
earlier
today
in
terms
of
subleasing,
oh
yeah
well,
and
we
also
have
that
completely
covered
all
the
way
around.
In
other
words,
I've
made
it
very
very
closely
possible
without
natural
and
then
we'll
come
back.
That
comes
back
here
for
anyone
to
do
approval
of
sub
leasing
or
assignment
like
the
was
attempted
in
the
past.
P
So
we
do
have
a
lot
more
protection.
I
think
the
prior
document
have
protections
with
this.
One
based
on
our
experiences
is
very
solid
and
I
wanted
to
make
sure
that
this
guy
to
you,
if
at
all
possible
and
mr.
gravel
and
I,
worked
on
it
yesterday
and
so
I
got
it
over
to
you.
So
I
I
feel
good
about
this.
P
P
Could
well,
the
proposals
will
come
in
and
the
proposals
will
be
sealed
and
then
they
will
all
end
up
being
opened
up.
I
believe
on
November,
the
22nd
at
3
p.m.
be
treated
like
a
bid,
but
if
we
find
that
there
are
things
that
we
need
to
potentially
add
all
depending
on
you
know
whether
or
not
it's
gonna
be
a
cost
item,
we
might
be
able
to
negotiate
those,
but
the
point
is
is
to
try
to.
We
tried
to
be
as
thorough
as
possible
in
this
situation.
P
That's
why
I
included
what
I
consider
to
be
essentially
an
agreement
with
a
few
several
to
be
determined
the
blanks
throughout
it,
so
that
we
don't
have
to
negotiate
every
little
provision.
Essentially,
we
should
be
negotiating
the
business
terms,
the
rent,
the
use,
the
community
terms
thing
along
those
lines
which
I
think
are
going
to
be
key
to
obviously,.
J
P
Q
Q
P
Opposed
to
you
know,
we
want
you
to
end
up
doing.
You
know
55
widgets
and
that's
what
we
put
in
our
vid
stacks,
and
now
we
want
to
change
that
amount.
Where
would
have
maybe
changed
the
price
point
for
someone?
That's
not
the
type
of
thing
that
we're
looking
at.
That's
why
I
tried
to
be
very
comprehensive
in
terms
of
what
I've
done,
but
at
the
same
time
is
that
you
know
there
are
certain
items
that
are,
let's
just
say:
they're
not
like
widgets.
You
know
they're
very
loosey-goosey,
they're
items
like
well.
P
What
are
you
gonna
do
for
community
groups?
Alright,
I
put
in
something
about
a
25%
discount
all
right,
but
there
might
be
other
things
that
people
end
up
mentioning.
Then
this
body
should
be
able
to
end
us
by
virtue
of
this.
Our
fee
package
would
be
able
to
say
hey.
You
know
we
heard
from
your
competitor
when
we're
going
through
this
is
this
something
that
you
might
be
willing
to
do
are.
N
Want
to
say
for
councilman
gray,
this
would
be
councilman
very
similar
to
elect,
let's
see
if
your
home
on
the
market
and
there's
three
offers
on
the
property,
and
we
accept
we
say:
okay,
we're
gonna,
take
the
this
particular
offer,
but
we
may
still
come
back
and
say,
but
we
want
these
conditions.
You
know
you're
gonna.
Do
this
we're
I'm
gonna.
Do
that?
Okay,.

R
E
N
I
know
you
get
a
lot
of
the
money
for
this
from
the
forfeiture
account,
which
is
great,
but
I
also
like
to
see
a
little
better
equipment.
I
stopped
by
the
station
is
where
I
mentioned
last
time,
the
one
on
Telegraph
the
fire
station
and
for
chief
Brogan
I,
definitely
like
to
see,
preferably
maybe
we
could
find
some
sort
of
a
grant,
or
maybe
fundraiser
or
something,
but
they
get
a
little
nicer
equipment
for
the
guys
and
gals.
N
Was
that
yeah?
Well?
No,
because
because
I
spoke
with
the
with
chief
Brogan-
and
he
mentioned,
you
know,
for
example,
stairmasters,
etc,
etc,
which
are
very,
very,
very
ideal
for
the
firemen
and
woman
to
be
able
to
practice
on
an
equipment
that
was
there
that
I
seen
was
I
mean
his
Winfield
village
material.
So
definitely
need
nicer,
stuff
and.
I
I
It's
it's
an
entire
program
where
we
get
equipment
to
assess
the
fitness
levels
of
the
firefighters
and
they
work
on
a
lot
of
functional
movements
and
things
along
those
lines,
and
hopefully
we're
going
to
include
some
treadmills
in
that
the
treadmills
we
have
at
both
stations
are
completely
worn
out.
They've
they've
done
everything
really
and
they're
taking
them
apart,
yeah
so
they're
there
on
there
they're
on
their
last
legs,
there's
lots
of
miles
on
those,
but
we
are
working
to
get
those
replaced
and
yeah
I,
agree.

So
I
had
a
couple
questions
for
director
Hashim.
You
know.
My
first
question
is
why
why
do
we
have
to
go
with
the
4x4
and
why
an
XLT
and
then
the
second
question
is
what
I
had
with
it
not
have
been
cheaper
to
get
maybe
an
f-150
as
much
lower
prices,
and
would
that
be
good
enough
faced
and
they
do
use
needed
to.
S
S
This
is
a
2017
and
2018,
so
whatever
they
have,
a
lot
is,
will
take
hold
it
out.
We
didn't
have
a
choice
as
far
as
the
Explorer
came
about
that
was
a
recommendation
by
my
coordinator,
Chris
Club
shark,
because
we
do
go
to
a
lot
of
trips
to
Lansing,
Grand
and
Traverse
City,
and
we
do
that
quite
often,
actually,
every
three
weeks
or
so
so,
and
we
have
three
people
so
I
just
from
a
safety
perspective
and
for
the
snow,
so
we
thought
that
might
be
beneficial.

Chair
councilman
berry:
this
doesn't
have
anything
to
do
with
the
millage
for
the
downriver
disposal
system,
but
I
think
most
of
us
know
that
Flint
in
their
water
situation,
not
that
I
am
opposed
to
providing
them
with
water.
But
if
the
American
made
me
look
into
it
one
day,
I
know
that
the
Great
Lakes
Water
Authority
is
now
providing
water
to
Flint.
F
Way,
it
was
explained
to
me
had
a
Great
Lakes
Water
Authority
meeting
is
that
it
was
beneficial
to
the
entire
system
to
have
the
Flint
surrounding
area
included.
It
also
gave
the
system
an
additional
source
of
water
in
case
of
a
catastrophe
so
that
there
were
positives,
but
it
was
also
explained
to
us
that
Flint
in
order
to
get
Flint
to
join
the
Great
Lakes
Water
Authority
and
to
abandon
the
other
pipe
that
they
were
committed
to,
that
it
costs
the
system
money,
which
would
mean
all
of
us
as
a
result
of
getting
them
in.
F
B
Any
further
discussion
hearing,
none
all
those
in
favor
of
the
motion,
please
say:
aye
aye
those
opposed
the
ice.
Have
it.
The
next
item
on
the
agenda
item
11
a
under
ordinances
and
resolutions
from
councilwoman
lisa,
hicks
clayton
resolution
for
National
Disability,
Employment,
Awareness,
Month
2017,
a
woman.
D
Claim,
mr.
chairman,
thank
you.
I
move
City
Council
adopt
the
resolution
as
submitted
in
11a
I'd
like
to
read
it
man
sure
thank
you.
During
National,
Disability
Employment,
Awareness
Month.
We
celebrate
the
many
contributions
of
American
workers
with
disabilities
and
reaffirm
our
admiration
of
those
skills
and
talents
they
bring
to
today's
workplace,
whereas
the
American
with
Disabilities
Act
of
1990,
was
enacted
to
end
disability-based
discrimination
and
to
promote
inclusion,
full
participation,
economic
self-sufficiency
and
equality
of
opportunity
for
all
people
with
disabilities,
and
whereas
many
americans
with
disabilities
struggle
to
find
employment
opportunities.
D
Despite
the
wealth
of
skills
they
have
to
offer.
In
2016,
only
27.7%
of
working
aged
americans
with
disabilities
were
employed,
whereas
they
are
an
incredible
asset
to
our
economy.
Those
living
with
disabilities
experience
the
independence,
economic
self-sufficiency
pride
in
the
community
that
come
with
a
job
resolve
further.
We
are
committed
to
providing
opportunities
to
gain
the
skills
they
need
to
fill
the
jobs
of
the
21st
century.
D
This
includes
those
with
disabilities
who
want
to
work
provide
for
themselves
and
their
families
contribute
to
their
communities
and
build
up
on
our
community
result.
Finally,
the
city
of
Dearborn
Heights
do
hereby
resolve
October
2017
as
National
Disability
Employment
Awareness
Month,
in
conjunction
with
the
National
proclamation,
call
upon
government
and
labor
leaders
to
recognize
National
Disability
Awareness
Month.
B
B
C
B
D
You
mr.
chairman
I
made
this
announcement
before,
but
I
want
to
share
it
again.
There
will
be
a
town
hall
meeting
on
Monday
October
23rd
7:00
p.m.
at
the
Caroline
Kennedy
Library,
and
this
is
a
great
opportunity
to
bring
people
of
our
community
together
to
discuss
a
very
important
subject
on
opioids
situation.
Critical.
D
We
have
several
community
partners
that
are
joining
us,
including
access
and
safe
coalition,
as
well
as
the
FBI
will
present
chasing
the
dragon,
their
documentary
on
the
subject-
and
we
have
a
social
worker
as
well
as
the
Taylor
Crisis
Center,
will
be
joining
us.
They
will
all
share
their
perspective
and
their
ideas
on
what's
happening
as
well
as
offer
resources
we'll
have
resource
tables.
So
we
want
to
invite
everyone
to
that
meeting
for
important
conversation
again.
That's
Monday
October
23rd,
7
p.m.
at
Caroline,
Kennedy,
Library,
Thank,
You,.
J
Know
a
lot
of
people
don't
care
about
what
goes
on
in
social
media,
but
as
I
go
through
it.
There's
a
lot
of
people
still
upset
about
the
parking
issues
on
trash
pickup
day
and
we
had
discussed
about
getting
together
and
having
a
meeting
and
looking
relooking
at
that
ordinance
and
I'd
like
to
have
that
sooner
or
later
that
we
look
at
that
ordinance
again
and
see
if
we
can
help
the
neighborhood
plus
help
the
police
department
helped
the
the
court
system
figure
out
something
that
we
can
do
to
help
alleviate
the
problems.
Here.
J
We
still
have
a
lot
of
people
complaining
about
neighbors
parking,
their
cars
in
front
of
their
garbage
trash
cans
and
they
got
to
go
out,
move
them
to
get
their
trash
picked
up
and
and
I'd
like
to
get
that
cleaned
up
as
soon
as
possible.
We
had
a
big
debate
about
this
trash
contract
last
year
in
October.
I
think
we
need
to
clean
it
up,
we're
we're
overdue,
and
the
second
item
that
I
like
to
bring
up
and
I,
know
I'm
beating
a
dead
horse
over
to
head
here.
J
But
we've
got
to
do
something
about
the
blight
at
Michigan,
Avenue
and
gully,
that
service
station
people
keep
calling
me
and
calling
me
I,
don't
know
what
it's
gonna
take
to
take
that
building
down
one
day
a
big
gust
of
wind
is
gonna,
come
and
take
it
down,
because
even
the
the
overhang
where
the
pumps
used
to
be
they're
all
rotted
out
trash
weeds
when
is
I
mean
that
service
station
has
been
closed.
What
15
20
years
or
is.
J
J
G
Think
the
only
way
we
can
act
on
this
and
I
know
the
building
director
can
educate
us
on
it.
But
unless
that
building
was
condemned
and
ruled
unsafe,
then
we
could
act
on
it.
But
at
this
point
it's
up
for
sale.
What's
he
asking
for
obviously
too
much?
Does
he
really
want
to
sell
it?
Probably
not,
but
he's
asking
a
pretty
penny
for,
and
he
just
hasn't
had
anybody
I.
J
You
know
the
thing
is:
is
you
know,
I've
spoken
on
this
piece
of
property
for
five
ten
years
at
best
and
I.
Just
can't
believe
that
we
as
a
city
can't
do
something
to
clean
up
that
corner.
It's
just
hard
for
me
to
fathom
that
there's
got
to
be
some
legal
way.
We
can
force
this
thing
to
be
cleaned
up.
J
Q
J
There's
got
to
be
some
way
legally
that
we
can
force
the
issue
of
cleaning
that
corner
up
I
mean
how
long
do
we
have
to
wait?
Another
20
years,
they'll
all
be
dead,
I'd
be
dead
in
three
years
as
far
as
I
know,
privately
owned
property,
and
so
the
the
my
house
is
probably
is
privately
owned
too.
But
if
I
get,
if
it's
blighted,
guess
what
I
get
tickets
right
right,
okay
done,
there
I
go!
There's.
J
I,
don't
know
about
enforcement
and
maybe
somebody's
talking
to
the
guy,
and
he
goes
out
there
slaps
a
little
paint
on
it,
but
you
go
over
there.
They've
got
wood
covering
up
the
pipes
that
are
coming
up
out
of
the
ground:
the
cements,
all
cracked
up,
the
Steel's
rusted
out
trees,
growing
out
of
the
roof.
How
and
I
said
that
the
last
time
does
this
just
go
over
people's
head?
Just
forget
about
it.
There's
a
tree
growing
out
of
the
roof
of
this
building.
J
J
L
M
You
know
I
I,
do
talk
to
him
on
a
regular
basis
when
things
are
looking
bad
he's
got
a
company
that
comes
over
and
cuts
the
grass
about.
A
year
ago
we
ended
up
cutting
and
cleaning
up.
He
got
a
very
large
bill
for
that
and
ever
since
that
he
came
and
asked
for
a
meeting
with
me
every
time
I've
asked
him
to
do
something
he's
gone
over
and
taken
care
of
it.
He
did
paint
the
board's
on
the
on
the
building.
I
asked
him
to
do
that.
M
I
also
asked
him
to
rope
off
the
put
temporary
chains
up
to
prevent
Peter
get
back
down
from
people
coming
in
and
out.
It's
the
neighbors
right
in
that
area
that
actually
took
them
down
and
are
now
parking
their
vehicles
over
there.
Just
last
week,
I
went
over
and
knocked
on
some
doors
and
asked
the
neighbors
to
not
park
their
cars
there.
That's
not.
You
know
where
they're
supposed
to
be
parking.
Their
cars
I
can
go
back
and
talk
to
him.
J
G
J
N
Councilman
read
the
whole
thing:
it's
gonna
get
rid
of
there,
I
mean
that's
pretty
I,
don't
know
if
the
government's
gonna
get
rid
of
it.
Bottom
is
just
pure
economics
and
there's
been
more
more
development
coming
on
on
Michigan
Avenue
old
Fords
coming
in
in
West
Dearborn,
which
is
spilled
over
into
other
parts
of
Michigan
Avenue.
If
you
look
at
right
now,
you
got
a
couple
hotels
that
just
went
up
on
Michigan
and
Telegraph.
T
N
No,
but
that's
that's
just
half
a
mile
away,
it's
continuing!
This
fell
over
eventually,
it's
a
law
of
economics,
somebody's
gonna
want
that
particular
location.
Right
now,
where
that
said,
it's
not
exactly
a
super
high
demand
location
so
either
with
them
paying
taxes
on
that
property
with
him
having
you
know
us
and
everybody
all
over
them.
He's
probably
eventually
have
to
lower
the
price
eventually
report
where
somebody
bites
on
it,
buys
it
fixes
it
all.
J
M
Excuse
me
recommend
up
a
little
bit.
Excuse
me,
the
neighborhood,
I'm
gonna
be
honest
here.
The
neighbors
are
some
of
those
neighbors
are
contributing
to
the
blight
over
there
I've
got
two
neighbors
that
told
me
they
saw
people
walking
with
their
yard
waste
and
what
and
dumped
it
on
that
parking
lot
that
that's
illegal
too.
It
is,
and
so
no
I'm
saying
what
I'm
should
be
ticketed.
What
I'm
saying
is
these
neighbors
that
are
sick
of
it
that
are
calling
you
all
the
time,
hopefully
they're.
M
They
can
be
part
of
the
solution
and
continue
to
call
me
when
they
see
other
neighbors
that
are
dumping
there
or
people
that
are
leaving
their
vehicles
there
overnight.
So
it
works
two
ways:
I
have
to
make
sure
that
I
I
work
in
a
way
that
I'm,
not
you,
know
constantly
coming
down
and
I
mean
this
guy
he's
right
across
the
street.
I
can
I
can
pull
right
in
there
when
I
leave
court
and
tell
him
look
meet
me
over
there.
J
J
J
J
P
We're
going
to
be
discussing
it
internally
in
terms
of
the
administration
and
probably
have
a
mechanism
in
place.
I
know
that
mr.
McIntyre
and
I
have
discussed
it
and
I
think
we
should
have
something
that
will
work
consistent
with
what
they've
done
elsewhere,
as
suggested
by
Councilman
Moscow.
Thank.
P
Up
no,
no,
no
such
need
I
mean
my
sense
is:
is
that
discussion
would
end
up
being
a
confirmation
from
the
mayor
of
what
was
suggested
by
mr.
Fink
and
mr.
McIntyre
would
be
the
person
who
would
be
the
contact
person
for
the
city
with
respect
to
this,
so
I
think
we
would
just
basically
be
tell
you
confirming
that.
That's
how
we're
going
to
be
handling
things.
P
P
Basically,
the
the
city
would
end
up
having
a
contact
person
find
mr.
McIntyre.
If
someone
first
of
all
ends
up
calling
1-800
number,
that
is,
these
particular
advertisements
on
the
bags
after
they've,
ended
up
going
to
that
stuff.
They
would
contact
mr.
McIntyre.
If
there's
not
some
sort
of
satisfaction,
he
would
have
special
access
to
an
executive
who
he
would
be
able
to
end
up
calling
if
the
problem
persisted
and
then
that
person
will
be
able
to
act
accordingly.
P
One
of
the
important
things,
though,
is
the
Free
Press
doesn't
want
there
to
be
a
general
dissemination
of
the
number,
because
they've
had
people
complaining
that
it's
them
who
have
basically
been
dropping
stuff
off.
Other
people
deliver
these
types
of
items,
and
so
they
don't
want
to
end
up
getting
a
bunch
of
calls
until
people
go
through
the
process
and
then
they
would
end
up
also
being
in
a
position
where
the
number
that
mr.
McIntyre
would
have
would
be
a
number
that
would
not
be
for
general
dissemination.
P
C
C
Thirty,
four
thirty
two
we'll
be
happy
to
get
you
a
replacement
about
what,
if
we
already
mailed
one
out,
if
you
are
interested
in
an
absentee
ballot
and
haven't
applied
for
one
yet
call
us
at
seven
nine
one,
thirty,
four
thirty
two
we
can
mail
you
out
the
app
and
start
the
process
going
for
you
any
other
questions
related
to
the
election
also
feel
free
to
call
us.
Thank
you
very
much.
Thank.
U
Hello,
council,
chair
and
mayor
I
just
want
to
talk
about
a
couple
of
upcoming
events
at
the
library
first
off
this
Thursday
October
12th
at
3:30
p.m.
at
Caroline,
County,
Library
and
Tuesday
October
24th.
Also
at
3:30
p.m.
at
JFK
Library.
We
will
be
spray-painting
pumpkins
join
us
weather,
permitting,
as
we
stencil
color
and
design
pumpkin
decoration
for
this
Halloween's
festivities
at
registration
is
required.
Call
three
one:
three
seven,
nine
one
3800
also
upcoming
next
week,
is
the
fall
book.
Sale
starts
next.
U
J
E
So
I
just
like
to
remind
our
council
and
our
citizens
that
city
of
different
heights,
it's
the
police
department
and
Fire
Department
we're
hosting
a
forum
on
opiate
opium
addiction.
You
know
we're
in
conjunction
with
their
local
offices
of
the
FBI,
the
DEA
US
attorney
general's
office
they're.
Putting
on
this
event
it's
going
to
be
Monday.
This
Monday,
the
16th
doors,
are
going
to
open
at
6:30
presentations
at
7
o'clock
and
it's
down
at
the
Richard,
a
young
Center
down
there.
E
So
I
know
there's
another
one
going
down
at
another
time
week
later,
but
this
one
I
might
you
said
a
sponsored
by
the
police
and
fire
we're
dealing
with
the
opiate
in
the
opium
addiction
every
day
in
our
community.
So
I
think
this
is
a
worthwhile
event.
The
FBI
just
put
one
on
in
the
last
few
weeks
in
Livonia
and
they
had
a
great
showing
so
again
it's
this
Monday,
the
16th,
it's
Richard
a
young
Center.
So
we
welcome
everyone.
There.
I
Can
you
meet
council
mayor
I
just
wanted
to
remind
everyone.
This
Saturday
is
our
annual
open
house
at
the
fire
department.
As
you
guys
know,
October
is
fire
safety
month.
So
this
is
the
time
to
always
but
remember,
to
check
your
smoke
detectors,
make
sure
you've
got
working
batteries
and
and
on
this
Saturday
at
fire
headquarters
on
beach
daily,
just
south
of
Ford
Road
we're
having
from
10
o'clock
until
2
o'clock.
I
We've
got
our
our
open
house,
and
so
we're
gonna
have
a
lot
of
displays
going
on
we'll
have
all
of
our
equipment
out
a
lot.
It's
a
great
event
for
kids.
There's
a
some
bounce
houses.
They
can
come
out
and
try
on
gear,
we'll
be
cutting
up
some
cars
with
our
extrication
equipment,
the
jaws
of
life
and
a
helicopter
comes
in
around
around
11
o'clock
to
noon
so
they're,
it's
it's
just
a
great
event
and
it's
a
good
time
to
come
out
and
see
our
vintage
workout
equipment.
If
you
like,
and.
I
I
N
I
L
Paid
close
attention
to
what
chief
Gavin
said
about
opiates
I
recently
come
across
some
information,
indicating
that
there
are
over
90
accidental
overdoses
on
opiates
per
day
in
the
United
States.
Those
are
the
ones
that
are
reported
there,
they're
not
reported
or
reported
out
and
something
else.
So
it's
it's
a
significant
program
to
come
and
listen
to
us
so
that
we
might
all
help
those
who
need
help.
L
B
V
Hello,
thank
you
so
honored
to
address
the
council
on
air
and
citizens
of
Dearborn
Heights
to
announce
our
annual
veteran
appreciation
dinner.
This
is
the
11th
annual
sponsored
by
the
Kiwanis
Club
of
Dearborn
Heights.
We
have
a
very
special
speaker
this
year
at
kind
of
Mary's,
the
theme
of
the
event,
a
veteran's
event
with
the
theme
of
our
organization.
The
Kiwanis
Club
is
a
children's
charity
that
was
founded
a
hundred
years
ago
right
here
in
Detroit,
and
the
president
of
the
entire
international
organization
is
going
to
be
a
retired
president.
V
Is
a
general
Don
kanaday
he's
going
to
be
our
speaker.
It's
truly
an
honor
he's
driving
in
from
his
home
in
Indianapolis
to
be
at
our
dinner,
and
he
has
a
storied
military
history
over
25
years
in
military
service,
rising
to
the
rank
of
Brigadier
General,
and
in
addition
to
that
in
his
service
to
the
Kiwanis,
he
had
the
opportunity
to
meet
many
people
internationally.
V
General
candidate
is
going
to
be
ringing
that
flag
to
Dearborn
Heights
and
he's
going
to
be
telling
the
story
behind
that
flag
and
the
Battle
of
the
Bulge.
So
it's
it's
a
very
unique
opportunity
that
we've
been
blessed
over
the
years
to
have
some
excellent
speakers,
and
this
year
is
no
exception.
So
the
the
event
is
on
Thursday
November,
the
9th
it's
going
to
be
at
the
steppe
American
Legion
Post,
it
will
be
6:30
p.m.
it
will
feature
a
very
delicious
buffet
dinner
by
the
the
caterers
always
popular
excellent
meal.
V
V
We
want
you
to
be
our
guest.
We
want
on
you
for
your
service.
The
event
on
this
evening
dovetails
right
into
our
mission
here,
the
officer
that
was
honored
for
rescuing
a
seven-year-old
boy
from
a
fire
first
responder,
the
other,
the
others
that
we
owe
so
much
to
are
the
military
who
are
on
guard
for
us.
24/7
365
and
we
we
really
encourage
the
entire
community
to
come
out
and
honor
our
veterans.
V
One
of
the
other
aspects
of
the
veterans
appreciation
dinner
is
we
invite
the
high
schools
to
come
out?
We'll
have
20
students
from
each
high
school
presswood,
Annapolis
divine
child
Roma
Shaw
will
come
as
the
guest
of
the
newborn
heights
Kiwanis
so
that
they
can
have
an
opportunity
to
rub
shoulders
with
veterans
and
also
get
an
understanding
of
the
fact
that
the
price
of
freedom
isn't
free.
So
again
we
invite
you
to
come
out.
F
K
F
K
F
Chairman,
we
are
deep
amount
of
gratitude
to
both
mark
and
Carol.
This
is
an
excellent
program.
It
keeps
getting
better
you've
had
such
great
speakers.
I
have
heard
this
gentleman
speak
before
you,
you've
done
it
again,
and
and
thank
you
for
what
you're
doing
for
our
veterans
honestly
for
years
and
years.
T
You
it's
so
funny
that
you
say
that
mayor,
because
when
I
was
sitting
there
I
wrote
down
and
we
have
been
blessed
over
the
years
to
have
mark
and
Carol
Slater,
along
with
the
Dearborn
Heights
Kiwanis
that
do
this
beautiful
job
honoring
our
veterans
every
year.
So
we
were
thinking
like
thank
you
absolutely
I,
never
miss
it.
I!
Never
miss
it's
a
great
event!
I'm
here
today
on
to
to
fold
the
Wayne
County
Commission
will
be
meeting
on
the
19th
of
this
month
and
I
believe
that
we're
going
forward
yeah.
F
Will
have
the
presentation
from
the
three
due
diligence
plus
our
city
attorney,
who
has
been
working
on
on
the
particular
proposal,
but
will
be
able
to
report
to
the
City
Council
on
the
environmental
findings,
the
survey
and
the
financial
due
diligence
from
plant
Moran?
And
we
will
have
speakers
here
to
make
those
presentations
to
the
council
and
answer
any
questions
that
they,
a
residents
might
have
in
anticipation.
The
following
Tuesday
would
be
on
the
City
Council
agenda.
I'm
planning
to
go
down
to
your
Commission
meeting
I.
Think
that's
an
18th
19th.
T
F
And
based
upon
what
takes
place,
but
so
far,
so
all
of
you
are
aware.
The
Commissioner
has
invited
me
to
those
meetings
and
I've
assured
the
Wayne
County
Board
of
commission
that
the
city
is
very
interested
in
making
the
purchase
and
that
we
did.
We
did
go
down
and
we
indicated
to
them.
We
needed
some
dish.
Formation,
they've,
cooperated
and
I
think
we're
there.
Wonderful.
T
Just
so,
everyone
knows
just
as
a
formality
how
that
works.
As
far
as
our
agenda
goes,
this
item
comes
up
under
unfinished
business.
So
every
every
couple
of
weeks
that
we
put
it
off
to
make
sure
that
you
guys
get
all
the
information
you
need,
because
and
that's
important
that
we
do
that
we
have
to
continually
pass
the
day
to
keep
it
on
the
agenda
to
pass
it
to
to
the
next
agenda.
So
when
you're
all
comfortable
with
it,
then
we'll
take
it
up.
I've
had
the
great
support
from
the
chairman
just.
V
T
You
know
the
the
thing
was
is
that
once
it's
approved
by
the
Commission
I
have
no
leverage
to
protect
your
best
interests,
so
so
I
want
to
wait
until
you
are
all
completely
comfortable
with
it.
You
get
all
these
results
and,
and
your
mayor's
got
done
a
great
job
going
before
the
Commission
asking
for
the
information
that
he
needs
he's
gotten
the
information
that
he's
need.
He
had
to
finish
up
some
tests.
You
had
to
finish
up,
get
some
test
results
which
he'll
cover
with
you.
P
T
Well,
that's
wonderful
and
I'm
so
glad
to
hear
that
and
it's
all
moving
forward
and
then,
if
everybody
here
is
good
with
it
on
the
17th
and
we'll
be
able
to
move
it
for
approval
on
the
19th.
If
not,
then
we'll
have
to
put
it
off
for
two
up
two
more
weeks.
What
is
entirely
up
to
you
and
you
know
I'll,
do
whatever
is
the
sports
pleasure?
Ok,
so
that's
where,
but
we're
moving
forward
and.
F
T
T
Thank
you,
I
appreciate.
It's
been
my
pleasure.
This
community
rocks
I
mean
we
really
had
some
great
support
from
the
people.
I've
been
on
this
on
the
on
the
Wayne
County
Board
for
nine
years,
I've
never
received
more
than
six
letters
on
anything
and
we've
had
over
2,000
letters
go
through
the
Commission
and
the
executives
office
in
opposition
to
this
development.
So
I
mean
that's
phenomenal.
That
makes
my
job
easy
Trenton
wishes.
T
They
would
have
had
that
kind
of
support
when
they
stoled
McLouth
still
two
met
in
maroon,
but
they
didn't,
but
they
didn't
and
it's
a
done
deal
and
it
happened
in
36
hours
and
that
property's
gone
and
my
phone
is
ringing
off
the
wall
and
it's
a
done
deal
so
I'm
telling
you
that's
how
fast
they
move
and
it's
a
good
thing
that
we
moved
when
we
moved
because
it
be
gone.
So
thank.
T
Yeah
now
on
to
lighter
subjects,
I
can't
believe
it's
already
been
another
year
but
I'm
here
to
announce
our
ninth
annual
make
a
senior
smile
day.
That's
going
to
take
place
here
in
Dearborn
Heights
and
throughout
the
8th
district
there's
two
locations
that
we
meet
at.
We
meet
at
the
Eaton
Center
on
the
south
end,
because
the
majority
of
your
residents
that
request
services
are
on
the
south
end.
So
we
really
appreciate
the
city
accommodating
us
to
be
able
to
host
that
jaylee.
T
My
assistant
usually
hosts
that
location,
though
I
go
there
too,
but
she
usually
hosts
it
for
the
entire
day.
We
have
had
guests
stop
in
like
senator
kinesic
and
congresswoman
Debbie
Dingell
on
occasion.
So
last
year
we
did
75
houses
throughout
the
eighth
District,
probably
30,
to
33
right
here
in
Dearborn
Heights
and
the
other
two
divided
among
the
other
communities
and
then
so.
The
time
is
Saturday
November
4th
so
mark
your
calendars
for
Saturday
November
4th
if
you've
got
just
a
few
hours
to
donate
for
the
good
of
the
seniors
and
disabled
veterans.
T
If
you
know
a
disabled
veteran,
that's
a
need.
We
help
them
too.
So
they
can
call
my
office
to
volunteer
at
three
one
three,
two,
two:
four:
zero:
nine,
three
zero
and
that's
three
one:
three,
two,
two:
four:
zero:
nine
three
zero
and
we
meet
at
the
Eaton
Center
at
8:30
a.m.
we're
back
by
noon.
We
have
coffee
and
donuts
refreshments
in
the
morning
and
then
we
do
a
pizza
lunch
for
the
volunteers
in
the
afternoon
now
people
who
live
on
the
northern
that
prefer
to
work
on
the
north
end.
T
You
know
and
I
know
it's
in
Redford,
but
it's
actually
closer
to
some
people
on
your
north
and
then
Eaton.
So
it's
more
convenient,
but
we
offer
you
the
option.
We
will
keep
people
in
their
City,
no
matter
where
they
report
we'll
still
keep
them
in
their
City.
So
we
ask
that
we
have
some
Rick's
that
we
get
from
the
county.
But
if
you
have
your
own
rape,
we
ask
you
to
bring
it
and
so
we're.
T
Looking
for
these
are
the
things
we're
looking
for
we're
looking
for
volunteers,
because
the
more
people
that
volunteer
the
more
seniors
we
can
help
we're
looking
for
sponsors,
because
the
county
pulled
funding
on
this
nine
years
ago.
I
can
tell
you,
we've
gotten
four
hundred
dollars
in
sponsors,
so
far,
two
from
the
two
hundred
from
the
Redford
Democratic
Club
and
200
from
DTE
Energy,
so
for
local
area
business
owners
out
there.
Anyone
that
wants
to
donate
to
this
we
accept
donations,
whatever
we
don't
raise.
T
T
So
again,
that's
8:30
to
12:00
o'clock
on
Saturday,
November,
4th,
Eaton
Center
or
the
VFW
any
questions,
or
if
you
have
a
senior
or
a
veteran
that
you
would
that
is
in
need
of
our
service.
Please
call
my
office
again.
That's
three
one.
Three,
two,
two:
four:
zero:
nine,
three:
zero.
Thank
you
thank.
