Council
chair
councilman
I,
move
that
the
agenda
of
the
Dearborn
Heights
city
council
meeting
for
September
21st
the
approved,
is
outlined
in
3A.
A
Second,
okay
motion
made
by
councilman
Constance
seconded
by
councilwoman
Breyer
in
discussion
on
net
hearing.
None
on
favor,
please
stay
at
aye,
aye
aye,
any
opposed
the
eyes
have
it
motion
carried
next
item
on
agenda
is
public
hearings
and
comment
on
agenda
items.
Only
is
there
anybody
in
the
audience
that
would
like
to
comment
on
an
agenda
item
coming
up
hello,
hello,.
B
My
name
is
Sally
I
live
on
Kingston,
Street
and
I
also
work
here
at
the
city
so
to
the
Dearborn
Heights
city
council.
You
guys
are
here
tonight
to
talk
about
the
tpoam
contract
among
others.
I
have
been
very
frustrated
with
how
the
city
tpoam
workers
are
being
portrayed
for
a
few
things
that
keep
coming
up.
I've
also
have
a
copy
to
you,
council
members,
so
you
can
kind
of
see
where
I'm
going
with
this.
B
Regarding
the
four
day
work
week
and
pay
increases
for
a
contract
for
2009
through
to
2016,
we
had
no
pay
increase
at
all.
Then
we
had
a
memo
of
understanding
in
2011.
The
union
was
asked
to
go
to
a
four-day
work
week.
This
was
to
save
the
city
money
at
the
time
it
was
agreed
to
that.
When
we
were
asked
to
go
back
to
40
hours,
we
would
be
getting
a
percentage
increase
of
pay
equivalent
to
30
percent
of
Base
wage
contract
2016
to
2021.
B
The
30
percent
was
taken
out
of
the
contract,
the
part
of.
If
and
when
we
would
go
back.
We
would
not
get
that
30
percent
at
all.
We
did
get
a
two
percent
pay
increase
the
first
year,
then
one
percent
increase
for
the
remaining
years.
So
now
our
current
contract
2021-2023.
This
is
the
contract
that
the
administration
wanted
to
give
us
a
half
percent.
B
After
giving
many
of
the
directors
and
Chief
of
Staff
increases
of
10
to
34
percent,
we
did
get
a
lump
sum
signing
bonus,
but
no
increase
for
the
first
year,
then
one
percent
for
the
year
we
are
currently
in
so
so
please
stop
saying
our
workers
are
lazy
and
that
we
don't
want
to
work
on
Fridays.
This
was
negotiated
with
the
previous
administration
so
that
our
city
could
continue
to
function.
We
in
good
faith,
save
the
city
money
and
are
now
looked
upon
as
bad
guys.
B
If
you
look
through
the
contracts
from
2009
to
2023,
you
will
see
we
have
only
gotten
a
seven
percent
increase
total
in
pay
and
one
lump
Sons
one
lump
sum
signing
bonus.
What
about
cost
of
living
going
up
inflation
from
2009
to
now
has
increased
approximately
40
percent
by
getting
only
seven
percent
in
that
same
time
frame
do
consider
that
a
livable
wage
current
Administration
has
stated
that
the
Comptroller
and
HR
Director
need
more
money
for
inflation.
But
why
would
your
not?
Why
would
your
workers
not
need
one
as
well?
B
The
only
perk
that
we
have
is
that
if
you
want
to
call
it,
that
is
our
days
off
the
last
two
contracts
we
have
gotten
days
off
in
lieu
of
actual
pay,
but
now
some
of
the
administration
doesn't
like
when
our
members
take
the
days
off
that
we
have
been
given.
Instead
of
pay
in
wage
increases,
the
days
off
and
pension
plus,
our
benefits
is
the
only
perk
we
have
at
the
moment,
also
being
short
staffed
as
a
worker.
We
cannot
help
it
if
they
are
not
or
cannot
hire
people
to
fill
our
positions.
B
B
A
livable
wage
I
fully
understand
that
your
honorable
body
is
not
negotiating
for
us,
but
maybe
you
can
get
across
to
Administration
our
frustration
and
lack
of
morale
and
possible
reasons
why
I
wish
that
more
people
would
ask
the
point
of
view
from
us
the
worker
as
it
feels
like
we
are
always
an
afterthought.
Thank
you
for
your
time.
A
A
F
I,
don't
want
to
say
too
much,
I
know
you're.
One
of
your
relatives
was
just
you
just
lost
a
family
member,
sorry
that
was
and
and
I
know.
This
is
the
community's
mourning
the
death
of
your
relative
and
I
thought.
It'd
be
important
to
have
a
moment
of
silence
for
husbands,
appreciate
it.
A
Thank
you
councilman.
Thank
you,
Council
appreciate
it
any
other
comments
from
Council
Members
Council.
E
E
I
really
I
respect
Sally
for
coming
up
here
and
stating
these
facts
a
lot
of
stuff.
You
know,
I,
know
about
and
I've
been
fighting
for
the
union
for
a
while
and
I
hope.
This
contract
is
a
lot
better
than
what
I
think
it
might
be
they're
offering,
because
you
guys
deserve
a
lot
more.
You
guys
are
the
front
line.
E
Workers
like
you
said:
you're,
the
ones
that
take
the
brunt
of
the
angry
residents
of
the
high
high
rates
and
the
ordinance
enforcement
stuff
like
that
and
you're,
just
as
valuable
as
our
Our
First
Responders.
All
we
work.
The
city
city
is
a
whole.
We
don't
have
just
one
or
two
or
three
departments.
We
all
work
together
and
our
Union
employees
are
a
big
part
of
our
city
and
without
him
we
wouldn't
be
able
to
do
anything
that
we
do.
Thank
you
for
all
that
you
guys
are
doing
every
all
of
you
out
there.
A
C
On
Wednesday
the
27th,
we
have
our
e-course
Creek
commission
meeting
at
six
o'clock
and
then
on
the
28th.
We
have
a
candidate
forum
for
the
five
candidates
running
for
three
spots
in
November
and
that
will
be
at
6
30
and
both
of
these
events.
That's
on
Thursday
the
28th.
These
events
both
take
place
at
3335,
South,
Beach,
Daily,.
A
Okay,
thank
you
very
much.
Next
up
is
councilman.
E
Just
got
an
announcement:
I
just
want
to
remind
everyone
that
we
have
a
great
family
activity
coming
up:
Saturday
night
September
23rd
at
the
Richard
A
Young
Center,
behind
there
swapka
Park
our
outdoor
movie
night.
It's
a
really
fun
time,
I
hope
to
see
a
lot
of
families
out
there.
Thank
you,
okay,.
A
Okay,
next
up
is
number
15
closed
session
now
I
I
do
before
anybody
makes
an
emotion,
I
just
want
to
tell
the
audience
and
and
those
on
Zoom.
This
meeting
we're
gonna
be
going
through
a
different
contracts.
Negotiations
that
have
gone
on
between
the
union
and
the
administration.
A
The
anticipated
time
is
anywhere
between
an
hour
and
45
minutes,
possibly
as
long
as
three
hours,
maybe
even
a
little
bit
more.
We
don't
know
we'll
find
out
when
we
go
into
the
closed
session.
The
only
reason
I'm
announcing
that,
like
I've,
announced
I've
announced
in
the
past,
so
nobody
Waits
here
thinking
we're
going
to
be
in
and
out
in
20
minutes,
but
when
we
do
get
out,
the
only
thing
that
will
happen
will
be
one
of
the
council.
A
Members
will
make
a
motion
to
close
this
meeting
because
we're
in
a
closed
session
and
it'll
be
moved
to
adjourn,
and
that
would
be
the
end
of
it.
So
if
you'd
like
to
wait
you're
more
than
welcome
to,
if
that's
what
you
want
to
do,
go
for
it,
but
I
just
want
to
give
you
a
heads
up.
You'll
be
waiting
three
hours
to
just
hear
Mo
or
a
councilwoman
or
the
councilman
just
say,
motion
adjourning.
So
your
call
with
that
being
the
case.
Yes,
I.
C
Don't
think
we
I
think
we
skipped
over
public
on
this.
A
A
D
I
moved
at
the
Dearborn
Heights
city
council
go
into
a
closed
session
to
discuss
the
case,
the
legal
case
of
a
a
gas
LLC
versus
Dearborn
Heights,
and
also
presented
by
two
attorneys
from
the
O'reilly
rancilio
law
firm
and
to
discuss
the
labor
negotiations.
Second,.
A
D
A
Okay,
thank
you
very
much.
Madam
clerk
to
the
best
of
my
knowledge
and
forgive
me
today,
15b
would
be
red
right
now
right,
correct,
because
there's
15b
also
oh
I'm
back
here,
I'm,
sorry,
I'm,
good,
I'm,
good,
okay,
yep.
A
Yep,
okay,
so
we'll
go
ahead
and
go
into
a
closed
session,
come
right
back.
F
F
Chair
councilman
I
move
that
we
follow
the
recommendation
of
our
Corporation
Council
in
regards
to
our
closed
session
contract
negotiations,
yep.
No,
no,
no!
No.
