A
A
Second,
all
in
favor
aye,
that's
approved.
Looking,
do
we
have
approval
of
the
minutes
so
Megan,
all
those
in
favor
I
proved.
That
was
the
agenda
now,
looking
at
the
minutes,
looking
at
the
minutes,
let's
peruse
through
the
minutes
very
quickly,
do
we
need
to
make
any
adjustment
on
the
minutes?
Do
we
have
enough
chairs.
A
A
E
F
E
A
high-level
report
that
summarizes
the
2019
business
of
the
golf
courses
I
think
the
reports
self-explanatory,
but
have
you
had
any
questions,
staff
or
our
operator?
Ned
China
was
here
to
handle
those
questions
a
night
for
the
board,
and
if
you
follow
us
on
social
media
just
this
afternoon,
we
will
be
opening
blank
Golf
Course
this
weekend,
it's
hard
to
believe,
but
here
we
go.
Blank
are
all
of
them.
I
believe
just
blank
so
far
is
that
correct,
Ned,
Blake,
Golf,
Course
I
saw
on
social
media
will
be
opening
yeah
yep.
G
H
G
G
F
J
F
G
G
Is
what
we
try
to
do
is
look
at
the
long
term
forecast
and
get
an
idea
about
whether
the
weather
is
going
to
change
for
good.
We
don't
want
to
open
for
two
days
and
be
closed
for
a
week
or
something
like
that.
So,
once
we
get
a
handle
on
a
fairly
decent
long-term
forecast,
we're
on
the
road
to
spring,
we'll,
go
ahead
and
open
them
and
then
and
we'll
look
at
the
turf
and
see
how
what
it
is
and
whether
it
can
handle
the
traffic
make.
E
It's
a
good
question.
You
know.
Historically,
we've
been
one
of
the
first
courses
in
the
metro,
you
know,
or
the
contiguous
counties
to
open
and
I
think
that
you
can
tell
from
the
care
of
the
course
it's
been
done
in
a
way.
That's
really
professional.
It
maintains
the
integrity
of
the
course,
so
we
wouldn't
do
it
if
we
didn't
think
we
could
get
away
with
keeping
the
course
of
prime
conditions
for
the
prime
season.
It
was
a
good
question.
Thank
you.
Do.
G
They
will,
if
I,
if
it's
mushy
and
and
the
frost
frost
in
the
crowd
just
when
it
starts
to
come
out
and
you
get
that
mushy
layer
on
top
and
the
water
can't
sleep
down,
because
it's
still
frozen
underneath
that's
one
of
the
prime
of
things
we
look
at,
but
at
blank
it
drains
so
well
and
that
it'll
it'll
just
dry
up
quicker
than
the
other
places.
That's
why
we
can
keep
it
open
as
much
as
we
do.
G
Waveland
is,
you
know:
we've
got
the
past,
but
still
we
get
a
you
get
a
lot
of
traffic
off
and
on
the
Passover
we
still
have
to
look
at
the
Turf
conditions,
but
carts.
You
know
we
don't
want
to
open.
We
really
don't
want
to
open
unless
we
can
use
carts.
Cuz
you're
not
gonna,
get
much
business
in
the
out.
So
that's
one
of
the
things
we
look
at
I
also.
E
Like
just
to
thank
the
board,
your
flexibility
and
understanding
of
how
important
it
is
to
look
at
fees
every
year
is
what
truly
positions
the
operation
revenue
bottom
line
of
our
golf
courses.
Had
you
not
done
incremental
small
increases
throughout
the
last
ten
years,
I
think
there'll
be
a
difference
for
today.
I
think
we
wouldn't
be
as
fruitful
as
we
are
and
I
think.
You,
of
course,
will
recognize
that
we'll
be
coming
back
every
year,
we'll
look
at
these
and
not
that
we
need
to
raise
it
every
year.
E
But
it's
important
and
it's
a
really
responsible
way
of
managing
these
golf
courses,
is
to
check
the
fees
every
year.
It
starts
with
Ned
watching
the
current
economy
in
state
of
golf,
and
then
he
talks
to
our
team
and
they
move
it
forward
so
that
if
I
was
asked
what
would
be
the
secret
to
why
we
keep
making
money?
E
G
Gives
me
an
opening
here
to
talk
a
little
bit
about
those
two
subject.
We,
our
philosophy,
is
to
try
to
maximize
the
value
for
the
consumer,
the
golfer,
so
we
we
don't
raise
prices
every
year.
In
fact,
we've
haven't
raised
it
very
much
in
the
last
couple
of
years.
Probably
we
looking
at
some
of
this
coming
fall,
but
you
know
it's
hard
to
tell,
and
that
is
a
critical
factor
is
being
able
to
keep
enough
revenue
that
we
can
maintain
the
quality
of
our
courses
in
the
revenue
generated.
That
report
will
reflect
it.
G
This
year
we
are
paid
to
the
city
about
I,
think
it's
about
four
hundred
and
thirteen
thousand
plus
about
another
hundred
and
ten
thousand
in
capital
improvement
payments.
That's
about
five
hundred
and
some
thousand
out
of
gross
revenues
of
about
about
three
and
a
half
million.
So
that's
a
pretty
good
return
on
the
city's
investment.
J
G
One
hundred
fifty
two
hundred
thousand
a
year,
I
think
fiddling
around
with
doing
something
like
we're
doing,
but
never
quite
get
the
courage
to
do
it
and
all
the
other
major
cities
in
the
state
we're
having
the
same
problem
as
well
as
the
country
Ben's
right
I
mean
you
go
little
across
the
country,
then,
and
and
it's
a
there's,
a
lot
of
reasons.
Why
we're
in
good
shape
here?
And
we
want
to
stay
that
one.
H
G
G
A
G
G
Totally
bad
cells,
weren't
really
down
much
I,
mean
they'll
vary
from
year
to
year.
What
you're,
reflecting
it?
What
you're
seeing
I
think
it's
catching
your
attention
is
the
sales
of
badges
at
at
Grandview
versus
what
they've
been
historically,
but
that
was
just
a
factor
where
people
ended
up
getting
what
golf
course
they
ended
up
going
to
first
and
they.
I
G
Buying
the
badge
whatever
they
go,
do
first,
and
sometimes
you
never
know
how
it
works
out.
But
overall
and
the
other
thing
too
is
a
year
before
last
was
the
first
year
we
had
the
universal
pass
and
that
kicked
sales
up
a
little
bit
and
I
think
it
kind
of
just
settled
a
little
bit
as
it
had
into
the
second
year,
but
I
don't
want
measures
to
get
much
higher
than
what
we're
doing,
because
those
operate
at
about
a
30
percent
discount.
G
F
G
Have
with
that,
our
share
Grand
View
is
a
real
problem.
We've
had
unless
we
lock
and
lock
it
up
tighter
than
a
drum,
even
in
the
middle
of
the
day,
we'll
have
people
wandering
in
there
trying
to
steal
something
out
of
our
maintenance
building.
We've
had
we
we've
left
a
truck
out
a
night
or
two,
and
they
come
in
and
chop
off.
The
muffler
underneath
it
for
the
council
for
the
cattle
is
a
terrorism
and
the
mufflers
that
it
Graham.
J
A
A
E
Back
to
the
top,
so
the
only
change
from
your
last
meeting
and
the
Recreation
subcommittee
was
trying
to
figure
out
the
best
way
to
handle
the
youth
membership.
That
was
what
we
heard
from
the
board.
We've
talked
about
it,
we've
discussed,
unfortunately,
we're
kind
of
leading
the
charge
here.
This
is
kind
of
a
new
thing
in
our
profession.
We
haven't
seen
many
City
begun
to
have
done
this
yet
so
we've
come
up
with
the
idea
of
a
junior
and
a
senior
member
for
youth.
You
can
see
that
changing
here
in
your
communication.
E
Basically,
there
would
be
two
members:
minimum
age
has
to
be
15.
The
senior
member
of
the
two
would
have
the
voting
rights
unless
that
person
couldn't
attend.
The
junior
member
would
theoretically
be
there
during
the
same
time
as
a
senior
member
to
learn
the
role
and
kind
of
get
themselves
acclimated
to
the
job
and
then
take
on
the
senior
role
automatically.
That's
what
we've
come
up
with
we're
open
to
ideas.
That
seems
like
the
best
way
for
us
to
handle
that
everything
else
remains
the
same
from
last
meeting
any.
A
D
E
You
at
your
next
meeting,
we
move
ten
as
long
as
everything
goes
as
planned
to
bring
you
the
bylaws
like
you've
looked
at
bylaws
for
other
subcommittees.
That
way,
we
can
have
an
official
set
of
bylaws
and
you
can
also
begin
the
recruitment
process
to
start
filling
these
with
the
board's
approval.
So.
A
B
A
question
it
says
that
the
members
or
proposed
members
would
be
brought
forward
on
at
the
March
meeting.
Is
that
correct?
If.
E
We
can
fill
it
that
soon
it
might
take
us
a
couple
meetings.
You
know
we'll
begin
to
start
and
if
any
of
the
board
members
has
names
for
us,
police,
plinth,
synonym
to
Rebecca
or
or
just
to
meet
you
and
we'll
help
start
to
build.
That
I
want
to
remind
you
that
these
things
are
kind
of
a
living
document.
If
you
will,
if
we
decide
after
a
year
that
these
appointments
are
needed
to
be
different
than
they
are
today
order,
we
need
a
third
youth
member.
You
have
that
flexibility.
E
B
B
E
Is
actually
only
good
Segway,
so
this
is
a
document
for
the
trail,
the
greenways,
but
this
is
what
you
would
see
for
the
recreation
for
the
issue
as
we
link
folks
for
this.
We
use
this
document
again,
if
you're
new
on
the
board
to
make
sure
we
could
help
formalize
memorialize
a
term
limit,
and
when
somebody
came
on
to
one
of
our
subcommittees,
this
one
has
to
speak
with
the
trails
and
greenways.
This
is
ginger.
C
A
E
Is
your
first
chance
to
meet
Derek
Hansen's,
our
newest
Park
planner
he's
got
the
tie
the
seat
on
out.
There
got
a
fun
story
about
there.
He
thought
this
was
yesterday,
so
he
dressed
up
two
days
in
a
row
for
us
he's
done
a
good
job
and
then
next
to
him
is
Red
Robin.
Our
colleague
in
the
city
engineer,
I'll,
ask
them
to
come
up.
They
have
a
presentation
that
can
walk
you
through
some
really
cool
things
happening
that
are
able
to
make
our
Park
and
Brooke
one
better.
E
A
E
E
I
K
I'll
I'll
kind
of
mention
I'll
talk
about
the
East
Douglas
plan
a
little
bit
and
then
I
can
kind
of
go
into
the
brook
run
a
little
bit
and
Derek
will
jump
in
as
well
and
then
at
the
end,
we'll
definitely
take
your
questions
so
so
why?
Why
are
we
here,
at
least
from
the
engineering
side?
The
existing
roadway
on
East
Douglas
is
24
foot
wide
rural
section.
K
Currently,
the
areas
experience
some
growth
with
the
brook
run
development,
as
well
as
a
few
other
developments
in
the
area
and
there's
a
lot
of
open
fields
still
out
there
that
are
potentially
going
to
develop
here
in
the
near
future.
So
now
is
the
time
to
to
construct
this
this
project
and
we're
using
move
DSM
as
kind
of
guidance
we've
got.
A
neighborhood
residential
street
like
I
mentioned,
is
currently
a
rural
roadway.
Two
lanes
ditches
not
a
lot
for
shoulders.
K
L
J
K
K
And
then
we're
also
planning
on
the
north
side.
A
lot
of
the
north
side
of
the
roadway
is
unincorporated
Polk
County.
We
will
plan
from
a
gradient
perspective
for
any
future
sidewalk
that
may
go
in,
but
we
will
not
put
that
sidewalk
in
at
this
time.
Just
some
highlights
on
the
trail.
Connection
that
we
will
be
doing
is.
Like
I
mentioned,
it's
ten
foot
trail
on
the
south
side
of
East
Douglas.
This
will
help
provide
kind
of
a
10
foot
loop
in
the
area.
E
K
So
then,
the
second
component
of
the
East
Douglas
project
was
kind
of
came
to
us
after
the
flooding
of
2018,
the
brook
run
neighborhood
has
experienced
some
they've
got
what
they've
got
in
their
rear
yards
of
some
of
these
homes.
They've
got
drainage,
ditches
that
are
basically
unattained
or
uncontrolled,
coming
from
the
rural
polk
county
area
to
the
north
and
then
also
to
to
the
northeast
there's
an
open
field.
So
they've
got
quite
a
bit
of
runoff
coming
through
here
and
during
the
2018
event,
there
was
a
lot
of
basement
damage
in
the
area.
K
There
was
a
couple
basements
that
were
completely
obliterated
due
to
the
intense
flooding
of
that
event.
So
we
felt
there
was
an
opportunity
here
to
help
the
situation.
The
way
we
could,
by
building
detention
basis,
to
hopefully
help
slow
flows
in
the
area
as
well
as
maybe
protect
the
channels
that
people
were
experiencing
the
erosion
in
their
backyards.
K
So
the
two
areas
that
you
see
that
are
circled
are
kind
of
thin
air
is
that
we
were
proposing
and
then
the
the
one
to
the
to
the
West
or
to
the
left
on
the
screen
is
in
the
Brooklyn
Park
area.
So
you'll
be
able
to
see
it
here
as
I
forward
on
just
to
let
you
know,
there's
about
a
hundred
140
acres
draining
to
the
Brooklyn
Park
area
from
the
north
and
west
and
that's
kind
of
denoted,
and
it's
it's
an
engineering
map.
So
I
don't
expect!
K
K
Red
is
the
hire
good
time
and,
as
you
go
down,
it
gets
lower.
It's
like
the
blue
on
the
bottom
would
be
closer
to
like
the
copper
creek
area
as
you
go
downstream,
so
so
the
solution
you
know
solve
flooding
erosion
issues
and
hopefully
reduce
some
of
the
habitat
loss.
You
know
evolve
and
enhance
the
existing
park
space.
This
is,
we
feel
like
a
solution
for
stormwater
parks
and
for
future
habitats.
K
K
So
we
basically
put
a
the
basin
in
line
with
the
stream
and
the
wetland
area
and
Parks
wanted
to
see
some
features
with
that
because
they're
losing
you
guys,
are
losing
some
park
ground
and
so
is
parks,
so
we
proposed-
or
they
proposed
to
put
a
trail
around
the
basin
to
kind
of
provide
it
as
an
amenity.
So
the
the
dashed
brown
line
is
kind
of
our
connection
to
the
trail,
we're
putting
on
Douglas
and
it
loops
around
the
detention
basin
and
it's
about
a
quarter
of
a
mile
if
you
were
to
do
a
loop.
K
So
if
you
went
around
at
four
times
that's
about
a
mile,
so
four
people
that
like
to
clock
their
mileage
and
then
we
would
also
do
some
trail
improvements
up
around
the
existing
parking
lot.
Some
sidewalks
and
whatnot
and
I
can
flip
to
the
next
slide,
because
this
this
has
kind
of
come
up
over
the
last
month
or
so
that
one
acre
piece
to
the
east
of
Brook
Run
Park
is
actually
a
and
Ben
may
know
a
little
more
than
than
I
do.
K
But
that
looks
like
the
city
is
going
to
purchase
that
to
expand
the
park,
which
is
great
because
it's
a
nice
flat
area
that
this
park
really
doesn't
have
right
now
and
could
provide
some
play
fields
or
some
other
features
to
that
area.
And
then
we
would
connect
another
trail
on
on
this
off
that
one
acre
piece
into
the
main
portion
of
the
park.
You
can
kind
of
see
that
line
drawn
there,
so
that
was
kind
of
a
broad
brush
on
the
project,
but
we'll
certainly
take
any
questions
you
guys
might
have
on
it.
J
L
E
Normally
it
would
have
a
neighborhood
meeting
first
on
a
change
like
this,
but
I
can
tell
you
that
they
have
a
lot
of
city
employees
living
out
there
and
I've
talked
to
many
of
them,
including
the
city
manager,
and
this
is
something
that
it
will
be
named
meeting
coming
up
shortly.
This
is
something
that
they've
asked
for
is
to
have
a
more
flat
space
in
fairness
to
the
project
they
needed
a
spot
for
the
storm
water
detention
and
that
part
of
the
park
was
today
not
use.
E
You
can
almost
see
underneath
there
as
a
playground
if
I
were
able
to
touch
that
frigid
but
well,
but
you
can
see
there's
a
wooded
area
around
it.
This
area
has
really
been
one
of
the
newer
areas
of
the
city.
It's
taken
off
a
lot
of
new
residential
family
homes
out
of
here
and
less
the
mile
away
is
opportunity,
give
your
bearings
you've
belts
in
this
area.
So
we
came
in.
We
said
hey.
This
acres
been
up
for
a
while.
E
It's
been
for
sale,
but
neighborhood
actually
had
a
developer
come
in
and
want
to
develop
and
they
push
back.
They
didn't
want
to
see
development
there
right
across
the
street.
You
can
almost
see
on
the
overview,
is
townhome
type
featured
houses
and
so
with
all
the
young
families
there
and
really
one
of
the
big
issues
we
have
our
processing
is:
we've
got
great
great
parks,
but
they're
older
they're,
rolling
hills
or
majestic
woodlands.
We
don't
have
uninterrupted
flat
space
for
just
general
pickup
or
practice
space
for
soccer.
It's
like
football
flying
a
kite.
E
So
when
the
planning
team,
the
engineers
came
together
as
planned,
I
was
really
excited
to
see
this
coming
together,
especially
that
what
you're
seeing
here
is
that
there's
zero
dollars
out
of
the
parks
budget
right,
that's
always
a
great
win.
We
want
to
thank
our
friends
in
the
area.
They
did
a
great
job,
helping
us
all
do
walking
trail,
which
I
think
will
be
a
huge
hit,
follow
a
trail
around.
E
E
Wall
Vinci
over
time
connecting
to
the
Gailey
wilson
trailer.
She
showed
you
that
earlier
on
they'll,
be
there's
need,
was
already
built
in
all
this.
That's
why
this
connector
feeds
all
those
houses
in
that
connect.
Just
an
informal
path
today
that
was
cutting
through
will
pave
that
well
say
well,
we'd
also
even
like.
If
we
can
figure
this
out
and
somehow
to
have
a
spur
go,
this
way
trail
the.
A
A
A
E
Actually,
planning
already
behind
the
scenes,
your
tour
so
don't
be
surprised
if
your
tour
shows
you
this
first
before
it's
built,
then
we
go
back
next
year
and
show
you
what
we're
talking
about.
We
haven't
been
out
here
in
a
while
stay
tuned.
I
think
this
is
a
great
great
project.
It's
really
what
comes
together
when
two
teams
work
together
like
this
and
dairy,
did
a
great
job
representing
our
interests
and
especially
being
newer
and
his
job
he's
able
to
come
up
with
good
planet
and
Brad.
E
E
It
don't
have
like
native
plantings
in
there,
so
one
of
the
things
we've
done
you
may
be
driven
by
one
there's
another
one
going
in
down
the
street
here,
where
you
can
see
all
the
trees
are
just
to
cut
down.
We've
been
working
together
using
what
knowledge
have
been
building
for
the
last
decade
about
natural
plants.
You
know
sustainable
plants
and
we're
trying
to
put
those
in
they
have
different
colors,
I'm
told
and
Brad.
You
correct
me
if
I'm
wrong
right,
I'm,
not
the
expert
here
is
that
that
features
not
meant
to
always
hold
water.
K
It's
not
be
a
wet
Basin,
where
we
have
a
standardized
normal
pool
of
water.
It'll
it'll
function,
kind
of
like
a
wetland,
so
you
know,
as
it
rains
that
they'll
be
watering
it,
but
as
as
the
event
ends,
you
know,
it'll
draw
itself
down
and
it'll
still
be
wet
like
those
little
blue
areas,
kind
of
circled.
Those
are
those
are
where
we're
gonna
have
like.
Maybe
some
native
planning,
it
was
somewhat
I
mean
those
you
know
concept.
Why
is
that's
where
they
would
be?
K
And
you
can't
really
see
it
very
well
in
this
exhibit,
but
what
the
design?
What
we've
done?
Is
it
kind
of
meanders
so
there's
already
a
channel
going
through
there,
but
we
we
meandered
the
channel
through
there
and
hopefully
that
helps
slow
down
the
flow.
You
know
we're
having
a
flatter
channel
through
there,
so
that
water
doesn't
just
shoot
right
through
there
right
into
the
development
it
kind
of
dissipates
energy
a
little
bit
so
soon.
So.
M
E
E
M
K
E
E
K
So
if
so
down
on
the
south
bottom
in
south
and
east
corner
of
the
basin,
there
will
be
a
controlled
structure
which
will
be
concrete.
That'll,
be
really
the
only
time
and
they'll
be
it'll
pipe
underneath
our
trail
and
then
it'll,
basically
outlet
into
the
existing
stream.
So
there
that
would
be
really
the
only
Concord
you'll
see
that's.
E
Been
a
big
philosophy,
the
parks
permit.
When
we
look
at
stroll
on
repairs
in
any
and
the
golf
courses,
the
parks
we
do
the
feature
called
day
lighting,
if
there's
an
old
pipe
that
it
corroded
and
back
up,
we've
been
trying
to
open
them
back
up
and
do
more
native
type
plans
to
help
us
little
water
down
and
make
it
something
for
the
next
generation
and
the
folks.
They
don't
have
your
job
of
mine,
their
jobs,
either
you're,
not
looking
at
a
million
or
ten
billion
dollar
deal
you're.
E
E
For
that
right
on
see,
this
is
another
win.
The
win-win-win
we've
negotiated
will
take
care
of
anything
that
it's
a
Parks
and
Rec
feature.
So
the
stormwater
facility
we've
talked
to
our
friends
and
public
works.
They'll
maintain
basically
inside
the
dotted
line,
but
the
trail
will
be
ours
because
that's
a
recreational
feature
the
new
park.
It
will
be
parks
and
recreation.
So
it's
almost
a
no
net
gain
and
responsibilities
for
us
other
than
the
new
capital
infrastructure,
but
that's
got
a
lifespan.
That's
hopefully
a
lot
longer
than
Dave
day
operational
costs
would
impact,
because.
B
E
Know
I
think
engineering
starting
to
get
more
and
more
of
that,
but
we
have
those
in
our
department.
We
have
it
in
two
different
areas.
We
have
an
hour.
We
have
landscape
architect's.
We
also
have
a
division
of
the
parks
department,
which
is
under
onward
a
natural
resource
team,
and
it's
led
by
gentleman
you'll
meet
later
on
and
Paul
scrummy,
who
has
has
been
schooled
in
that.
So
we
have
an
operational
site
and
we
have
an
administrative
side
of
it.
E
The
questions
others,
this
is
one
of
the
lads.
It
doesn't
come
back
for
board
action,
it's
just
making
sure
you're
aware
of
it
and
then,
unless
you
thought
it
should
come
back,
we
could
cut
back,
but
that
had
a
strict
timeline
to
get
this
thing
bid
at
the
right
time
to
get
the
best
price
and
and
just.
K
But
schedule
wise,
you
know,
and
our
engineering
design
has
kind
of
been
ongoing
here,
we're
kind
of
getting
close
to
the
end
here
now
in
early
2020
and
right
away,
negotiations
are
more
or
less
complete
as
well
construction,
it
says,
fall
2020
and
what
that
really
entails
is
we're.
Just
hoping
some
of
our
utility
partners,
like
CenturyLink,
can
get
out
ahead
of
our
construction
and
do
some
relocating.
K
H
F
K
Gonna
create
it
out
we're
gonna
grade
the
whole
section
out
so
that
you
know
at
some
point:
if
hey
the
city
does
you
know
bring
it
in,
it's
fruited
pretty
easy
to
get
constructed
so
yeah,
it's
more
of
a
cost
thing
at
this
parent
work,
its
Polk
County
and
here
to
benefit
the
residents
at
the
City
of
Des
Moines.
So
I.
A
J
H
E
And
report
you
all
have
a
copy.
Now,
a
hard
copy
is
well.
We
sent
that
out
digitally
to
you
last
week.
The
same
story
as
always
as
you
could
help
be.
As
powered
I
know
you
are
as
well.
We
are
of
what
we
do
and
accomplish,
as
a
team
truly
takes
when
it
takes
the
village,
it
takes
multiple
departments
and
takes
a
board.
It
takes
a
City
Council.
N
E
A
company
that
allows
you
to
share
police
share
I
think
the
more
we
share
our
mission,
the
more
ambassadors
we
grow
for
what
we
do
and
ambassadors
of
what
we
do
are
important
and
almost
critical
to
what
we
do.
I
would
argue,
because
we
never
know
when
that
next
project
is
coming
down,
the
line
where
we
need
a
little
extra
infusion
of
cash
or
political
support
or
whatever
it
may
be.
E
E
Print
about
200
of
these
a
year,
but
we
can
print
more.
We
try
to
use
it
a
lot
when
I
go
down
fundraising
doors,
I'd
leave
them
behind
I,
also
like
to
whenever
I
get
a
call
or
an
email,
follow
that
back
up
with
one
of
these
somebody,
it's
never
to
work
with
us
before.
To
give
perspective
all
the
things
we
can
do
it's
a
marketing
tool
as
well
as
a
celebration
of
last
year.
E
Really
like
the
fact
that
we
engaged
a
public
allow,
these
pictures
are
from
a
contest.
That's
deliberate!
For
this
reason.
Last
year
too,
I
can't
remember
the
one
last
year,
I
believe
Missy
won
the
cover
last
regime,
so
we
make
that
fun
for
the
public
that
they
can
turn
put
odors
in.
For
us,
we
try
to
use
a
lot
of
the
public's
photos
of
our
park
system.
J
M
E
Parks
and
recreation
director
this
is
it's
that
time
already
believe
it
or
not.
It's
you
know
trash
bash
time.
I
won't
steal
our
thunder,
but
again
you
just
job
long
enough.
You
get
lots
of
favorite
things.
I
don't
do
this
is
this
is
one
I
just
wanted
to,
as
they
speak
of
course,
Elizabeth
just
think
about
what
would
the
state
look
like?
Have
we
not
had
a
trash
bash,
Earth,
Day
program
and
they'll,
give
you
some
cool
facts
and
figures
I
want
to
steal
their
thunder,
but
just
think
about
that
for
a
minute.
E
O
N
Julie
hempel
horticulture
inspector
for
the
city
des
moines,
Parks
and
Recreation
to
our
back
sorry,
they
trespassed
I
was
largest
volunteer.
Earth
Day
event
is
a
significant
day
for
many
things.
Some
operations
it
started
over
15
years
ago
with
a
few
committed
volunteers
and
has
grown
into
a
partnership
with
our
surrounding
communities
to
create
a
more
sustainable
Metro.
Last
year
we
had
75
project
locations
more
than
21
hundred
volunteers
registered
on
93
teams.
They
removed
over
45,000
pounds
of
trash,
recyclables,
compostable
materials.
N
This
year
we
celebrate
50
years
of
Earth
Day
nationwide.
It
started
as
20
million
people
in
1970
and
has
grown
to
a
billion
people
annually,
mobilizing
to
make
a
better
world
locally.
In
the
last
12
years,
we've
had
692
teams
more
than
15,000
volunteers
who
have
removed
hundreds
of
thousands
of
pounds
of
trash
tires
compostable
x'
and
more
that's
a
total
value
in
over
12
years
of
one
point:
four:
eight
million
dollars.
O
Helping
on
the
Planning
Committee
in
hosting
sites
in
2020
are
the
cities
of
Des
Moines,
West,
Des,
Moines,
Clive,
Pleasant,
Hill,
Johnston,
Urbandale
and
Norwalk.
We
also
have
Polk
County
conservation,
Polk
Soil
and
Water
Conservation
District
Westside
Chamber
of
Commerce
Iowa
Natural
Heritage
Foundation,
Ingersoll,
Business
Committee,
greater
des
moines
Botanical
Garden
in
Des
Moines
waterworks.
So.
N
O
N
N
E
Want
to
first
before
you
have
any
questions.
Thank
these
two.
What
you
don't
see
behind
the
scenes
is
an
incredible
amount
of
organization.
It
takes
to
leave
that
many
entities.
They
will
fill
this
room
up
multiple
times
with
planning
sessions
and
make
sure
everybody
knows
what's
going
on
and,
of
course,
it's
done
in
a
safe,
responsible
way
and
then
just
a
lift
to
find
sponsors.
So
people
are
listening
right
now,
we're
always
looking
for
sponsors.
E
There's
a
cost
of
this
to
something
the
city
shouldn't
always
be
responsible
for
so
you
know:
there's
howleen,
tipping
fees,
there's
the
materials
and
supplies
that
we
use,
so
anything
that
you
think,
if
you
know
what
sponsored
let
Julie
or
Khaleda
me
know,
we'll
gladly
take
the
show
on
the
road
to
ask
them
to
be
a
sponsor
and
again
my
hats
off
to
these
two
for
organizing
that
volume
of
work
them.
You
can
see
the
truly
impact
after
12
years,
I
think.
A
J
A
F
N
N
E
O
Well,
your
years
ago
was,
we
started,
Julie
started
actually
before
I
was
even
here
and
it
was
with
Starbucks
downtown
and
then,
as
it
grew,
and
we
grew
bigger
and
needed
more
areas
to
go.
We
moved
out
into
parks
and
then,
as
it
kept
going,
we
reached
out
to
the
other
cities
about
partnering
and
seeing
if
they
wanted
to
do
something
together.
So.
D
E
E
This
year,
our
team,
my
design,
I,
don't
have
exact
project
yet,
but
we
go
from
Ward
award
award
and
we
start
over.
So
it's
in
Ward,
4
and
so
Jim's
award
for
any
bathroom
or
for
let
me
know
if
you
have
ideas,
I've
sent
a
note
to
the
councilman
Gatto,
it's
his
warped.
He
represents
so
it
could
be
anything
from
Ewing
Park
lilac
work
to
County
Soccer,
who
know
who
knows
well,
we'll
get
them
hopefully
picked
out
soon
are.
E
E
E
Laura
as
our
aquatics
manager,
but
we've
moved
Laura
into
special
events,
job
be
cake,
aided
by
barb
Baker,
as
she
retired
laura,
has
a
tremendous
amount
of
experience
working.
The
special
events
background
not
that
she
didn't
do
a
great
job
at
pool
she
did,
and
we
were
amazed
how
quickly
she
made
an
impact
in
our
aquatics,
but
this
is
more
landless
of
her
to
cash.
Think
it's
fair
to
say,
and
we
will
make
an
announcement
soon
filling
that
job
entail.
So
he
wondered
why
Laura
was
here
in
special
event.
That
is
why.
P
Sure
they
miss
some
members
of
Parks
and
Recreation
Board
I'm
Laura,
Murphy
parks
and
recreation
supervisor.
I'm
here
today
to
talk
about
the
mayor's
annual
ride
and
run
to
get
you
excited.
John
Hagler,
just
provided
you
with
a
slick
koozie
for
the
mayor's
annual
ride
and
run
you're
unfamiliar
with
what
a
slept,
because
he
is
George
has
already
got
it.
P
H
P
So
this
year
the
event
is
taking
place
on
Saturday
April
18th.
This
is

the
City
of
Des

is
pursuing
and
investing
in
a
rework
of
E&I
Malone
markers
along
the
city
trails.
Currently,
the
city
is
missing
over
80%
of
existing
trail,
a
911
markers
and
intends
to
improve
these
markers
with
this
project.
P
P
To
kick
off
the
morning
will
start
with
a
run.
It
will
start
at
8
a.m.
this
is
our
earlier
than
last
year
to
allow
some
time
in
between
the
two
events.
The
location
will
start
and
finish
on
the
trail
right
outside
of
principal
Park,
we'll
have
a
5k,
which
is
a

and
a
Family

which
is
one
mile
long.
P
P

The

will
be
taking
place
at
10:00
a.m.
the
start,
and
finish
will
be
outside
a
principal
Park
and
at
the
distance
approximately
21
miles.
It's
a
large
loop
similar
to
last
year
with
a
family
rest,
stop
same
as
the
run.
It's
$35
entry
fee,
$50
day
of
registration
and
$5

lick.
P
P
P
Thanks
to
bike
worlds,
we
are
able
to
give
away
a
bike
to
one
lucky
participant.
The
participant
must
be
registered
to
be
eligible
for
the
drawing
of
the
bike,
including
those
who
registered.
A
of
this
will
be
a
great
promotional
piece
when
we
attend
bike
world's
ladies
bike,
social
on
March,
22nd,.
P
Registration
is
now
open
if
you
have
questions,
feel
free
to
contact
our
administration
office
or
visit
our
website
at
DM,
and
we
would
like
to
request
the
board
to
help
us
spread
the
word
our
challenge
to
you
is
to
ask
five
friends,
family
members
or
neighbors-
to
participate
in
hopes
that
those
folks
will
participate
and
bring
their
friends.
Let's
aim
for
a
great
turnout
in
2020.
Does
anyone
have
any
questions.
A
A
Mmm-Hmm
he's
been
a
city
of
Des,
Moines,
employee
and
and
does
a
lot
of
work
for
our
department
and
is
so
thorough
and
I
will
tell
you
this
I'm
gonna
miss
you
very
personally
as
a
friend
and
very
much
as
an
employee
of
this
department
that
has
really
done
a
great
job
Richard.
You
want
to
tell
us
a
little
bit
about
your
new
job.
Sure.
I
Yeah
so
my
last
day
at
the
city,
Des
Moines
will
be
March,
13th,
I'm
gonna
take
about
a
week
off
with
the
kids
for
spring
break.
We
don't
really
have
any
plans
at
this
point,
but
then
on
March
23rd
I'll
begin
as
director
of
leisure
services
for
the
city
of
Clive
a
little
bit
different
than
how
we
do
it
here.
It's
director
of
Parks
and
Recreation,
as
well
as
director
of
the
library
that
they
have
there
at
the
city
of
Clive.
I
A
A
F
E
Will
say
this:
it's
been
fun
to
watch
Richards
career
I
can
tell
you,
there's
a
lot
of
cool
things
that
he's
done.
The
thing
that
I
think
of
that's
the
most
Richard
asked
if
you
will
would
not
be
here
without
him
as
our
trail
system.
Don't
get
me
wrong,
but
a
lot
of
things
happen
to
70s
and
80s,
and
then
there
was
kind
of
a
pause
for
whatever
reason:
I'd
have
to
really
research.
Why?
But
when
Richard
came
here
and
what
year
to
2003.
E
2003
in
parks,
Don,
Shep
told
him.
We
need
a
trail
expert,
we
need
some,
they
can
understand,
writing
trail
grants
and
making
connections
and
I
can
tell
you
the
boom
and
the
research
on
stretch.
Rail
system
is
really
because
of
this
guy
behind
the
scenes.
Without
him
pushing
it
and
of
course
it
takes
a
lot
of
people.
It
takes
a
council
in
a
park
board,
but
without
him
making
it
his
mission
I,
don't
think
we'd
have
the
trust
us
and
we
had
today.
Nor
do
we
have
the
following.
That
trail
system
has
today.
E
So
that's
his
claim
to
fame
as
a
lead.
Here,
he's
done
a
lot
of
little
things
and
a
lot
of
big
things,
but
he
had
one
of
those
jobs
for
the
last.
What
six
years
as
assistant
director
that
you're
behind
the
scenes
and
you
get
to
work
on
things
like
bathroom
policy
or
not
things
that
are
fun
like
operating
budgets
and
capital
budgets,
so
he's
done
a
nice
job
in
that
role.
We
will
definitely
miss
him.
E
I
A
You
very
much
Richard,
you
will
be
missed.
Thank
you.
Thank
you.
Let's
start
with
our
boards
and
kit
committee
reports
and
Vicki's,
not
here.
In
fact
she
probably
didn't
get
a
connection
for
she
emailed
and
said
that
she
was
trying
to
get
a
connected
connection
from
South.
Carolina
should
I
be
down
there
for
the
caucus,
I,
don't
know
so
Andrea
and.
A
A
A
C
Say
one
thing:
I
just
quickly
by
trails
in
general,
there
and
there's
been
some
posts
about
this.
People
need
to
be
careful
using
the
single
track,
trails
and
soft
trails,
nature
trails,
but
some
of
those
are
getting
torn
up,
pretty
bad
as
they're
soft
and
require
extra
work
to
get
them
back
in
shape.
I
know,
central.
Our
trails
is
planning
a
work
date
coming
up
to
the
March
I
think.
So,
if
anybody
about
to
help
out
with
with
that,
they
can
follow
central
trails
face
book
written
about
it.
