wonder

words,
festival
that
will
be
held
November
second,
through
ten
featuring
a
wonderful
lineup
of
programs,
the
library
partners
with
the
downtown
community
alliance
to
host
this
annual
celebration
of
the
written
word.
Here's
a
few
of
the
highlights.
Iowa
author
doug
bower
will
discuss
his
book.

happens

matters
of
life
and
death
at
the
central
library
on
saturday
november?
Second,
at
4pm,
central
library
will
also
be
the
location
for
a
new
event.
Called
wow
voices
featuring
an
entire
afternoon
of
diverse
author
perspectives
and
life.
Experiences
join
us
on
Saturday,
November,
9th
from
one
to
five
PM
for
programs
and
book
signings
by
writers,
Pat
Laura
will
fellows
Emily,
wrap
and
jennie
barker
divine
and
avid
author
Amy
Tan
will
visit
Des
Moines
on
tour
for
her
new
book.
The
valley
of
amazement.

Her
free
presentation
is
at

on
Sunday
November

at

is

Senator
Rob,
ho
author
of
America's
climate
century
will
speak
at
the
Franklin
Avenue
library
on
Tuesday
November,
twelfth
at
630pm.
That's
part
of
his
statewide
book
tour
having
represented
Cedar
Rapids
during
the
flood
of
2008.
Senator
Hogue
is
widely
recognized
as
a
leader
on
energy
and
climate
issues
in
the
Iowa
Legislature
additional
author
events
will
be
offered
throughout
the
city,
including
programs
by
Grant
Wood,
biographer,
Wanda,
corn,
musician,
John,
Carter
Cash
and
national
public
radio's.

as

for
a
fascinating
virtual
tour
of
Woodland
Cemetery
with
local
researcher
Archie
cook,
then,
on
November
fifth
he'll
present
an
armchair
photo
tour
of
the
city,
including
historic
and
current
aerial
views
of
the
city
taken
from
the
old
Polk
County
Courthouse
want
to
save
time
in
the
kitchen
and
eat
healthy.

University,
Extension
and
outreach
will
show
you
how
on
Tuesday

graders

at
the

on

tradition

previewing.

shows
at
the

fall

in
wonderland

on

night
and
Peter
Pan
on
Saturday
December
7th.
Both
shows
start
at
ten-thirty
in
the
morning
at
the
Franklin
Avenue
library,
meeting
room
and
be
sure
to
check
out
our
mini
halloween
happenings
come
to
the
central
library
on
Tuesday
October
29th
from
4
to
6
p.m.
A
bring
the
kids
dressed
in
their
costumes
and
join
us
for
literacy
activities,
crafts,
a
special
Halloween
story
and
much
more.
This
event
is
for
toddlers
through
fourth
grade
and
costumes
are
not
required.
Also
that
day,
Franklin
Avenue
library
will
host
a
halloween
special
at
4pm,
featuring
our
friends
from
polk,
county
conservation
and
they're
flying
furry
friends.
The
bats
learn
all
about
these
special
creatures.
Sing
songs,
make
a
craft
and
go
trick-or-treating
at
the
library.

Finally,
a
couple
of
reminders:
all
six
library
locations
will
be
closed
on
Monday
November
11
in
a
of
Veterans
Day
regular
hours
resume
on
tuesday
november
12.
