will
be
a
special
yoga
in
the
park
kickoff
event
as
part
of
the
festivities
right
out
to
grayslake,
Saturday,
May
twenty-fourth
and
join
instructor
Jen
week
from
nine
to
ten.
The
full
yoga
in
the
park
instructor
list
is
posted
on
our
website.
This
year's
season
will
extend
through
September
29
new
this
year.
During
the
month
of
June,
participants
can
come
out
early
and
try
zumba.
This
45
minute
class
will
start
at
eight-fifteen
each
Saturday
before
yoga
see
you
the
lake.

need
your
help
des
moines
will
once
again
take
part
in
the
national
bicycle
and
pedestrian
documentation
project,
a
nationwide
effort
to
count
the
number
of
bicyclists
and
pedestrians,
our
roads,
sidewalks
and
trails
in
19
locations
across
the
city.
We
need
volunteers
to
help,
conduct
counts
and
surveys
on
may
7th,
8th
and
9th
from
430
to
730
and
on
Saturday
May,
eleventh
from
1130
to
230
to
volunteer.

we

meeting
the
needs
of
our
residents

help
secure
funding
for
new
trails,
sidewalks
and
bike
lanes,
training

the
beginning

each
shift

you

numerous
volunteer
projects
across
our
park
system.

grayslake
a
carp
festival
on
Saturday
May
11.

The
goal
of
this
free
event
is
to
raise
awareness
of
the
effect
the
carp
have
on
the
ecology
at
the
lake
and
the
value
of
fishing
for
this
species.
The
large
population
of
carp
in
grayslake
negatively
impacts
water
clarity
and
fish
which
results
in
lower
numbers
and
growth
rates
for
other
game
species.
This
event
is
one
tool
used
to
manage
overpopulation
at
the
lake
use
17
and
under
and
adult
carp
tournaments
will
be
held
from
9am
to
2pm,
with
registration
starting
at
8am.
Anyone
interested
is
welcome
to
come
and
register
at
any
time.
A

the
event
tournament
prizes
will
be
awarded
for
both
age
groups
and
multiple
categories,
including
biggest
carp,
most
cart
and
heaviest.
