Hi
I'm
Chuck
borough
of
Public,
Works
and
I'm
here
to
remind
you
that
following
the
holiday
season
is
a
great
time
to
increase
your
recycling.
The
City
of
Des
Moines
maintains
a
recycling
program
to
help
residents
reduce
the
waste
and
the
negative
impact
of
that
waste.
In
short,
recycling
saves
natural
resources
and
landfill
space.
The
City
of
Des
Moines
provides
residents
blue
recycling
carts
to
recycle
their
household
items.
Recyclables
are
collected
every
two
weeks
and
can
include
plastic
bottles,
aluminum
cans,
newspaper
and
glass
bottles.
A
In
addition,
the
City
of
Des
Moines
will
take
10
cans,
detergent
bottles,
cereal
boxes
and
beverage.
Containers
recycling
is
especially
important

If
you
have
more
material
that
can
fit
in
that
container,
you
may
put
them
in
a
cardboard
box
or
a
paper
bag.
Alongside
of
the
blue,
total
extra
cardboard
boxes
may
be
flattened
and
placed
there.
Also.
As
a
reminder,
plastic
grocery
sacks
are
not
recyclable.
A
The
City
of
Des
Moines
recycling
program
is
an
automated
system
that
is
unable
to
process
plastic
bags
or
the
items
inside
of
them
help
us
to
make
the
most
of
your
recyclables
by
putting
them
directly
into
your
blue
recycling,
cart
or
inside
of
paper
bags.
This
helps
the
city
process
all
of
your
recycle
materials
and
keeps
them
out
of
landfills.
Plastic
bags
may
be
taken
to
your
local
grocery
store
to
be
recycled
