B
In
past
years,
with
your
donations,
we
were
able
to
help
hundreds
stay
in
the
comfort
of
their
own
homes
during
the
hot
summer
days,
but
Des
Moines.
We
need
your
help
once
again
this
year,
it's
no
secret
that
budget
cuts
have
impacted
each
one
of
us,
and
this
program
is
no
exception.
Without
your
help,
we
will
not
have
the
fans
and
air
conditioners
to
pass
out
to
those
in
need
in
our
community
who
do
we
help
your
neighbors,
your
friends,
your
family
and
sometimes
even
yourself.
B
Last
year
we
gave
fans
to
families
that
never
thought
they
wouldn't
be
able
to
afford
a
fan
for
their
home,
but
with
the
change
in
the
economy.
Sometimes
the
decision
comes
down
to
food
or
fan
gas
money
or
fan
medicine
or
fan,
and
with
the
rising
cost
of
higher
efficiency.
Air
conditioners,
our
family,
with
limited
incomes
struggle
to
find
the
funds
to
provide
something
that
is
actually
a
medical
need
for
their
family
we'd
like
to
help
these
families
stay
safe
and
comfortable
in
their
own
home.
So
why
should
you
give
to
the
cooling
project?
B
First
of
all,
we
know
it
takes
a
community
coming
together
to
help
when
any
one
of
us
has
a
need,
without
that
local
compassion
to
those
in
our
neighborhoods.
We
just
can't
do
what
we
need
to
do
to
move
our
families
forward.
Secondly,
Des
Moines
Community,
Action
Agency
assures
that
your
donation
is
used
wisely,
helping
those
truly
in
need
assistance.
One
of
the
ways
we
accomplish
this
is
to
distribute
fans
only
two
households
that
fall
below
the
federal
poverty
guidelines.
B
Finally,
we
ensure
that
those
who
receive
air
conditioners
that
you
have
donated
our
families
in
the
same
income
guideline
bracket
and
that
have
a
medical
need.
Last
year
we
gave
fans
to
families
that
never
thought
they
wouldn't
be
able
to
afford
a
fan
for
their
home.
So
what
can
you
do?
Donations
of
the
new
fans
or
energy-efficient
window
air
conditioners
are
accepted
at
all
des
moines
fire
stations
now
through
the
summer
months,
and
you
can
simply
drop
them
off
at
your
own
convenience
or
maybe
you
don't
have
time
to
purchase
a
fan
or
air
conditioner.
B
You
can
simply
send
your
cash
or
check
donation
to
the
administrative
office
at
100,
east
euclid,
suite
101
or
you
can
give
online
at

Maybe
you
are
or
know
a
family
in
need.
We
would
encourage
you
to
come
to
our
office
at
1618,
sixth
Avenue
and
start
the
application
process.
The
cooling
program
begins
june.
First,
we
want
to
make
sure
every
person
in
our
city
is
safe.
A
Here
are
some
of
the
tips
to
stay
cool
and
safe.
This
summer
electric
fans
may
provide
comfort,
but
when
the
temperature
is
in
the
high
90s
fans
will
not
prevent
heat
related
illnesses,
taking
a
cool
shower
or
bath
or
moving
to
an
air-conditioned
places,
much
better
way
of
cooling
off
at
night.
If
it
is
cooler
outside
open
up
windows,
the
doors
to
ventilate,
reduce
indoor
humidity
by
minimizing
midday,
washing
and
drying,
clothes
showering
and
thinking,
unless
you
actually
need
them
turn
off,
is
incandescent
lights
and
heat.
A
A
Many
public
places
like
malls
libraries,
senior
centers,
are
air-conditioned
and
are
open
to
the
public
as
daytime
cooling
centers

also
remember,
never,
leave
children
or
pets
in
a
car
or
make
sure
pets
have
cool
water
and
shade
available
at
all
times,
if
possible,
keep
pets
in
door.
