A
Hello,
I'm
Marcy
raff
doll
with
Des
Moines,
Community,
Action
Agency,
we're
located
at
16,
18
sixth
Avenue
and
serve
the
residents
of
the
City
of
Des
Moines
hot
summer
days
are
here
and
with
it
comes
our
cooling
programs.
With
these
hot
days,
many
in
our
community
are
in
danger
of
heat-related
illnesses
simply
because
they
do
not
have
fans
or
air
conditioning
to
stay
cool.
We
are
currently
offering
fans
and
air
conditioners
to
those
in
need
in
the
City
of
Des
Moines,
because
we
rely
solely
on
donations
for
this
program.
That
means
we
need
your
help.
A
Des
Moines,
Des,
Moines,
Community,
Action
Agency
and
the
divine
fire
department
are
once
again
working
together
to
collect
new
box
fans
and
new
window
air
conditioners
to
distribute
to
low-income
families
in
the
city
to
be
eligible
for
the
air
conditioning
program.
Families
must
meet
income
guidelines,
not
have
a
fan
or
air
conditioner
in
their
home
and
have
a
signed
dr.
statement
stating
that
the
air
conditioning
is
a
medical
need
for
them
fans.
You
need
to
be
at
a
hundred
and
fifty
percent
of
poverty
as
well
and
have
no
fan
or
air
conditioner
in
your
home.

at
our
6th
Avenue
office
and
enjoy
discounts
on
many
Park
and
Rec
activities
throughout
the
whole
year.
Our
food
pantry
has
converted
to
a
choice,
food
pantry,
meaning
each
of
you
can
come
in
and
choose
the
foods
you
would
like
from
different
categories.
We
serve
any
resident
in
the
demarc
food
pantry
area.

You

A
Personal
pantry
is
also
available
year-round.
This

with
personal
hygiene
and

and

it's
hard
to
believe
what
the
blistering
summer
fall
will
be
here
soon.
This
means
des
moines,
Community,
Action
Agency
is
preparing
for
fall
and
winter
programs.
A
One
of
the
fall
programs
starting
this
month
is
lie
heap
the
low
income
Home
Energy
Assistance
Program.
Now,
that's
just
for
those
folks
who
have
received
a
letter
stating
that
we
are
taking
early
bird
applications
like
he
provides
a
one-time
utility
payment
to
approved
household,
as
well
as
a
moratorium,
protection
against
disconnection
starting
November
first
and
running
through
the
first
of
April.
A
You
do
not
need
to
have
a
disconnect
notice
or
a
default
payment
for
this
program.
It
is
designed
to
help
alleviate
the
financial
stress
of
higher
monthly
winter
bills.
Some
of
you
may
have
already
received
letters
with
instructions
on
how
to
apply
this
year.
Please
follow
the
instructions
on
the
letter
and
call
with
any
questions.
We'd
be
happy
to
help
you
through
the
process.
A
If
you
do
not
see
the
resin
and
would
like
to
apply,
applications
for
LIHEAP
will
begin
November
first
or
if
you're
in
crisis
can't
pay
your
utility
bill,
your
elderly
or
disabled
starting
october.
First,
we
are
excited
to
announce
that
this
year
we
have
even
more
ways
to
apply
for
LIHEAP.
Not
only
can
you
come
into
our
office,
you
can
fill
out
a
paper
application
and
send
it
in
by
mail
or
drop
it
off,
but
you
can
also
apply
online
for
more
information
on
this.
