Now, more than ever,, we have to protect the health and well-being of the citizens of des moines and the state of iowa–, and it's all of us together that are going to make that happen..

We are switching from an urgent recommendation to a mandate.

We want everybody to wear it., we've urged ever since march.

we had a state of emergency in the city of des moines.. We've watched this pandemic roll across the country, roll across iowa,, and we have seen positivity.

Percentages on testing go from 3 percent to 5 percent to 7 percent and now,. Most recently, our two-week average is almost 11 percent.

A

Our citizens have been doing much better., I see in the grocery stores, I see in the pharmacies,.

A

People are wearing masks., but there are those that are still out there–and. The spread is very, very serious–and. We have to do everything that we can.

all of us working together to make sure that we can protect our kids that are going back to school,.

We can protect the teachers,. We can protect the families, and again, it's all of us working together that are going to make that a good outcome..

This mandate is to send a message to everybody that we have to be accountable in our public safety..
