It's
it's
a
historic
building
and
it's
a
building
that
we
really
treasure
and
I'm
sure
the
whole
community
here
treasures
it.
It's
our
aim
for
it.
It
is
to
build
a
community
space
in
it
that
will
be
a
letterpress
Museum
that
will
preserve
both
the
building
and
the
history
of
letterpress
printing,
which
I've
been
involved
in
for
35
years
now,
and
I
see
it
as
as
just
an
amazing
place.
It's
it's
in
a
Greenbelt
next
to
next
to
the
community
garden
across
from
Cushing
Park.

The
upper
level
of
it
was
1915
train
station,
it
got
moved
in
1994
and
it's
the
the
historic
building
was
put
on
a
new
foundation
underneath
it
and
in
in
connection
with
it
part
of
part
of
our
acquiring.
It
requires
that
we
have
a
preservation
easement
on
it,
this
it's
owned
by
the
Colorado
Historical
Foundation
and
the
the
difficulty
we've
been
frustrated
with,
with
the
pace
of
of
getting
this
thing,
moving
getting
the
repairs
done.
The
problem
is
that
it
was
put
on
this
new
foundation.

lower
level
had
no
wall
on
the
east
side,
it
had
a
plywood
fence.
The
building
was
never
sealed
to
the
ground
from
the
upper
part
to
the
lower
part.
The
access
from
the
from
the
4ad,
a
access
there's,
the
slopes-
are
all
wrong
for
getting
there
from
the
lower
level
to
the
upper
level
or
from
parking
lot
to
the
upper
level
of
lower
level.

we
need
to
fasten
the
thing
to
the
ground

Can

lower
level

look

and
see
the
sky

two

of
reasons

looked
at
it

lower
level
done

we've

this

step

functional
building
for
us,

we've
been

community

will
lead
to
that.

proposal

wife

fauns

you

system
is

the

peeves
is
the
big
white
bank.

don't

anybody
outside

regarding
giving
heart
and
homeless
issues

evening.

just
want
to
talk
briefly
about
the
I,
give
you
an
update
on
what
what
giving
heart
has
been
doing
kind
of
on
their
behalf,
I
followed
up
last
meetings.
One
of
you
suggested
that
we
contact
the
impact
team
I
contacted
the
impact
team.
They've
they've
signed
an
officer
to
the
case
and
I've
been
in
touch
with
him.

In
addition,
I
know,
the
people
who
work
daily
at
giving
heart
are
doing
the
best
they
can
to
build
goodwill
in
the
neighborhood
that
block
and
to
also
do
the
best
they
can
to
make
sure
the
homeless
folks
move
along
after
their
services
are
done,
but
the
main
reason
I
want
to
address
you
is
on
behalf
of
our
pastors
group,
uniting
the
would
and
I
think
it
just
this.
This
whole
issue
just
kind
of
woke
up
this
sense
that
wow
we
we
don't.

We
haven't
really
communicated
very
well
what
the
churches
are
actually
doing
in
Englewood
for
the
homeless
population
and
what
our
aims
are
with
that,
and
we
just
want
to
to
have
a
sense
that
council
and
the
city
staff
and
anybody
we
want
to
be
on
the
team
together.
We
want
to
work
with
city
to
to
just
address
the
issue
of
homelessness,
as
as
best
we
possibly
can
so.

We
are
uniting
the
would
an
alliance
of
churches
and
ministers
or
ministries
operated
in
Englewood.
We
understand
that
serving
on
council
is
often
difficult
and
thankless
work.
So
we
want
to
begin
by
thanking
you
for
your
public
service,
while
we're
all
occupied
with
our
respective
churches
and
ministries.
Several
of
us
keep
an
eye
on
city
affairs,
and
you
are
often
in
our
prayers.

We've
noticed
that
as
a
council,
you've
been
careful
not
to
rush
into
decisions
but
have
taken
time
to
hear
all
sides
and
make
decisions
with
the
long
term.
Good
of
the
city
in
mind.
We're
writing
now,
because
we
want
to
draw
attention
to
the
council.
Rowdy
attempt
the
council's
attention
to
the
problem
of
homelessness
in
our
community
with
housing
costs
skyrocketing
25%
of
Colorado
renters
spend
more
than
50%
of
their
income
on
rent.
The
average
waiting
list.

In
the
meantime,
our
churches
also
operate
food
banks
and
provide
meals,
so
people
don't
starve
in
cooperation
with
the
severe
weather,
shelter
network,
we
house
people
on
the
worst
nights
of
the
year,
so
they
don't
freeze
to
death
on
the
sidewalk.
We
offer
medical
care,
treating
simple
problems
before
they
compound
and
cost
thousands
of
dollars
at
the
ER.
None
of
this
comes
cheap.
Our
people
give
sacrificially
of
their
time
energy
and
money
to
make
these
things
happen.
We
are
doing
what
we
can,
but
the
problem
is
way
bigger
than
us.

need
the
city's
cooperation
we've
been
able
to
work
closely
with
the
city
on
the
neighborhood
rehab
project
and
other
initiatives
we'd
like

speak
with
you
once
again
about
the
city's
plan
policy
statement
regarding
our
undocumented
residents.
I
spoke
with
you
last
December,
asking
for
your
consideration
of
Inglewood
becoming
a
sanctuary
city.
I
am
no
longer
asking
for
that
declaration.
It
is
unclear,
first
of
all
what
that
label
means.

In
addition,
it
raises
many
red
flags,
but
I
am
still
committed
to
making
my
city
our
city
a
safe
and
welcoming
place
for
all
of
our
residents
who
are
able
to
live
and
work
here
without
fear.
There
are
other
aspects
of
this
issue
that
need
to
be
thought
through
first
conflicting
policy
statements.
It
would
appear
that
two
written
immigration
statements
are
not
in
alignment,
that
of
the
Englewood
school
district
and
the
Inglewood
Police
Department
and
I
printed
out
both
of
those
statements.

The
school
district
used
the
statements
such
as
protect
the
constitutional
and
legal
rights
of
all
of
our
students,
protection
of
students,
civil
rights,
whereas
the
police
position
statement
uses
words
like
to
work
cooperatively
with
ice.
Provide
legal
loot.
I'm
sorry
provide
logistical
support
whenever
asked.

Also
the
police
statement
on
immigration
law
indicates
it
as
a
product
of
the
Colorado
Association
of
Chiefs
of
Police.
However,
when
I
showed
that
statement
to
chief
white
in
Denver,
he
said
he
was
a
member
of
that
association.
He
had
never
seen
that
statement,
nor
would
he
have
signed
off
on
it
to
attribute
this
statement
to
all
Colorado
Chiefs
of
Police
seems
misleading.

When
I
brought
this
to
the
attention
of
city
manager
Keck,
he
said
he
felt
that
chief
Collins
should
look
at
tailoring
a
policy
statement
that
is
more
germane
to
Inglewood.
He
went
on
to
say
that
mayor
Jefferson
had
asked
him
to
work
with
chief
Collins
to
see
if
an
Inglewood
specific
policy
could
be
drafted.

Everyone
in
those
buildings
from
preschool
through
office
staff
to
all
students
and
teachers
knew
exactly
what
to
do.
In
the
event
of
a
fire.
We
were
prepared.
There's
a
city
of
Inglewood,
prepared.
If
ice
agents
become
active
in
our
community,
will
all
city
employees
know
of
our
city's
policies
in
these
matters.

The
ACLU
is
currently
very
active
in
suing
cities
that
step
on
the
civil
rights
of
individuals,
and
we
can
our
city
afford
a
lawsuit.
Third
city
attorney
I
would
suggest
that
city
attorney
Brown
be
involved
in
any
revision
of
the
city's
immigration
policy.
Fourth,
unfunded
mandate
is
the
federal
government
expecting
our
local
police
force
to
inform
them
of
undocumented
workers
living
in
our
community
I
went
on
a
ride-along
with
one
of
our
officers
as
part
of
Englewood
Police
citizens
Academy
I
was
attending.

It
is
obvious
that
our
police
officers
already
have
a
full
plate
and
by
diverting
them
to
enforce
federal
mandates
concerning
undocumented
workers.
Our
own
City
Safety
will
suffer
this
up
and
down
the
front
range.
Two
weeks
ago,
one
of
our
city,
one
of
our
members,
Dana
Clark,
provided
you
with
an
attachment
to
her
remarks,
listing
some
of
the
municipalities
in
our
state
that
are
dealing
with
this
same
issue.
I
also
have
attached
my
notes.
As
you
can
see,
Inglewood
is
not
alone
in
grappling
with
this
issue.

special
place.
We
care
deeply
for
each
other
and
are
deeply
committed
to
our
town.
We
love
this
place
and
there's
a
spirit
of
Independence
and
individualism
and
a
strong
sense
of
private
property
rights.
There's
been
conflicting
visions
since
1903
Tom
Skerritt
liked
Englewood
described
as
a
grocery
store,
five
bars
and
to
sporting
houses.

After
a
contentious
vote,
meat
was
decided
to
remain
independent.
This
is
Inglewood,
not
Denver.
Then,
across
the
decades
there
have
been
several
discussions
to
merge,
Sheridan
and
Inglewood
into
a
new
city
Sherwood,
but
both
England
and
Sheridan
residents
affirmed
their
unique
personalities,
and
then
there
was
an
attempt
in
the
1990s
to
impose
covenants
that
in
would
look
junky.
It
needed
to
be
cleaned
up.
Some
felt
the
need
to
introduce
covenants
to
clean
up
the
city,
trailers
and
RV's
and
old
hobby
project
cars
and
business
label
vehicles.

people
drove
home,
we're
all
put
on
the
list
of
people
who
needed
to
get
tickets
from
the
code
enforcement
guys.
The
residents
got
upset
with
the
rules.
People
spoke
at
the
council
meetings
and
tried
to
work
with

city.

voters
finally
decided
to
make
a
change
in
the
law.

group
of
us
in
2011
wrote
initiative
to

believed
that
Inglewood
residents
would
be
responsible

their

in

these

I'd
like

profit
motive
is
enough
for
them
to
you

keep
their
places
in
good
standing.

like
shopping
at
dirty
places.

can,
if
I've
got
options-
and
you

with
this
type
of
economy
and
this
type
of
city-
there's
plenty
of
options
and
where
to
spend
your
money,

so
you
know,
you
would
think
that
that
would
motivate
them.

but,
like
you
said,
I
am
also
very
concerned
about
the
Broadway
corridor
appearance
right
now,
that
is
our
most
visible
commercial
corridor
of
our
city
and
that
helps
people
form.
You
know
opinions
about
the
desirability
of
our
place
to
live
and
do
business
so
I
recognize
that
that
is
a
very
important
area.

To
focus
on.
I
will
note
that
this
council
is
making
a
fairly
substantial
public
improvement
investment
on
the
3400
block
of
Broadway.
Obviously,
that's
just
one
block
of
a
large
stretch
of
Broadway,
but
perhaps
if
we
add
some
new
life
vitality,
energy
there
that
there
may
be
a
snowball
a
bit
into
the
private
sector
is
really
what
I'm
hoping
and
we
are
seeing
a
lot
of
transition
along
the
Broadway
corridor.

So
a
lot
of
the
storefronts
that
you're
seeing
right
now
that
are
boarded
up
that
have
don't
have
open
businesses
in
them
are
almost
all
leased
up
and
with
projects
currently
coming.
So
there
is
no
lack
of
economic
activity
on
the
Broadway
corridor
and
I
hope
that
by
the
end
of
the
summer,
you
hope
that
you
might
be
able
to
see
some
improvements
from
the
public
just
driving
down
the
block.
You
know
I
think
to
councilmember
Olsen's
point.
You
know
we
probably
need
to
look
at
our
power-washing
budget.

I
know
we
did
do
some
power
washing
a
Broadway
this
year,
but
probably
not
enough.
There
is
a
immense
amount
of
dirt
and
debris
that
has
just
moved
by
the
traffic
living
and
doing
business
along
Broadway.
I
can't
tell
you
how
much
it
is.
It
is
a
constant
challenge.
You
know,
I
can
power
wash
my
building
and
the
next
day
it
will
really
be
coated
in
a
thin
layer
of
dirt
just
from
the
activity
happening
around
there.

we
should
probably
pick
up
our
efforts
in
some
Street
seeping
as
well,
because
that
could
help
remove
some
of
that
debris.
Sometimes
there
are
instances
where
I
see
you
know
some
pile
up
of
debris
in
the
gutter
and
that
I
think
gets
blown
around
and
makes
things
a
little
less
unattractive.
I
appreciate
mr.
Anderson
his
efforts,
you
know
coming
and
speaking
about
the
giving
heart
and
your
efforts
regarding
homelessness
issues.

Generally,
obviously,
we're
not
immune
to
that
here
in
the
city
of
Englewood,
you
know,
unfortunately,
I
don't
have
a
silver
bullet
to
solve
the
homeless
issue
in
the
city,
and
it's
certainly
you
know-
hopefully
I'm.
Certainly
it's
certainly
not
independently
the
unilaterally
gonna
come
from
the
city
of
Englewood.
We
we
have
no
funding
mechanism
for
that.
You
know
honestly,
I
think
what
we
need
to
do
as
a
community
is
start
looking
at.

Emmerson,

speaking

speaking
again
about
his
property
issue.
There
you
know,
I
have
I,

met
with
mr.
Amberson
privately
just
a
few
times.
Just
for
the
counsels,

hoping

up
with
a
project

forward

seem,

kind
of
met

hit

bump

road

Emerson

to
try
to
move

thing

mind

over
the
hump

fault

it
that

property

landlocked?

continues

assert

subdividing

property

not

access,

perhaps

we
could

Center

unexpected
additional
cost,
installing
new
televisions,
the
actual
tech
requirements
and
the
mountings
costed
more
than
was
expected,

so
they're
asking

funds

cover
that
for
a
thousand
dollars,
public
Improvement
Fund
and
the
capital
fund.
Our
joint
activity,
there
were
four
projects
that
were
approved
in
the
capital
fund
and
transfer
was
anticipated
to
be
made
from
the
public
improvement
front
over
to
the
capital
fund
to
cover
them.

projects,
but

actual
transfer
did
not
get

So
those
four
projects
include
the
document
management
system
for
$55,000,
the
disaster
recovery
system
for

the
compact
crawler
boom
lifts

thousand,

the
telephone
system
and
communications
for
ninety
thousand
the
risk
management.

we
did
was
we
had
higher
than
anticipated
claims,

so
we're
asking
for
some
fund
balance
to
cover
that

updates

economic
development
projects
that
I
know
are
of
high
concern
and
visibility
in
the
city
number
one
is
the
hilltop
motel
on
Broadway
and
Lehi.
That
particular
project
was
in
4a
DRT
last
week,
we're
in
they
brought
forth
plans
for
a
three-story
building
that
has
eight
apartments
above
and
retail,
on
the
main
floor,
2,800
square
foot,
retail
on
the
main
floor,
which
they're
hope
hoping
to
bring
in
a
restaurant
user.

So
that's
kind
of
exciting
and
the
other
one
is
long,
tenured
or
motel
across
the
street.
That's
on
New
London
motel
on
Santa,
Fe,
Avenue!
Excuse
me
that's
going
to
be
undergoing
asbestos
remediation
within

next
month
or
so,
and
then
that'll
be
demolished,
and
there
are
plenty
to
build,
unfortunately,
not
the
best
of
uses
but
storage
units
there.
