He's
he's
led
many
lives.
He
was
when
he
retired
from
Honeywell.
He
was
one
of
the
top
executives
and
he
went
from
the
frying
pan
into
the
fire
became
the
executive
first
executive
director
of
the
Colorado
Symphony
right
after
the
reorganization
of
from
the
Denver
Symphony
days
and.

Jim
has
been
the
supervisor
a
mentor
and
a
friend
to
me
for
like
28
years,
and
so
when
I
asked
him
to
help
with
Englewood
arts.
He
said
just
tell
me
when
and
I'll
be
there
so
I
want

looking

some
information
with

Cynthia

Lightner,

if
you

know
our
office
is
in
the
museum
and
that
office
was
there
for
us
before
we
became
incorporated
as
angle
at
arts
actually
was
offered
the
office
by
Cynthia
because
of
the
relationship
she
and
I
had
with
up
close
and
musical,
which
is
a
an
organization
that
I
started
30
years
ago.

The
artistic
enrichment
of
the
community-
that's
why
we're
here!
Just
a
word
about
up-close
and
musical.
We
are
finishing
our
30th
year
up
close
a
musical
collaborated
many
times
on
these
multimedia
productions
during
this
summer
out
of
the
Piazza.
Those
were
a
lot
of
fun,
but
then
the
rain
started
to
come
in
August,
they're,
very
expensive
productions,
as
you
could
imagine,
and
a
lot
of
money
went
down
the
drain
doing
them.
So
we
did.

We
don't
do
them
anymore,
but
up
close
in
musical
now
partners,
I
shouldn't
use
the
word
partner,
collaborates
with
clothes
and
musical
and
angulardart.
We
do
a
number
of
projects
together,
we're
very
closely
related
and
it's
possible
that
in
the
near
future,
we'll
be
even
closer
and
a
word
about
our
sponsors.
We
as
any
other
nonprofit
organization.
We
depend
on
the
generosity
of
various
sources
of
funding,
foundations,
corporations,
individuals
and
some
earned
income.

Some
of
our
major
sponsors
are,
of
course,
the
SCF
D,
the
Xcel
Energy
Foundation,
Colorado,
creative
industries,
the
surround
a
ssin
and,
among
others,
the
Bowen
fund
for
the
Performing
Arts.
If
you
don't
mind,
I'd
like
to
take
just
a
few
minutes
and
share
with
you
some
of
the
programs
that
we
currently
do,
this
is
angle
at
arts.

So
we
were
incorporated
back
into
the
year.
2000
actually
started
angling
arts
but
started
when
I
was
the
chair
of
the
Cultural
Arts
Commission
and
we
wanted.
Our
goal
was
to
build
an
Arts
Center
and
we
worked
on
that
diligently
for
10
years
and
it
didn't
get
any
traction
so,
but
the
city
of
Englewood
helped
us
with
the
incorporation
papers
and
also
we
we
were
an
outgrowth
of
the
Cultural
Arts
Commission.

The
first
program
that
we
started
strings
attached
was
the
violin
program
in
the
schools
in
Englewood
was
before
school
and
after
school.
We
at
one
time
had
a
hundred
and
twenty-five
kids
in
that
program.
Just
grew
classes.
Now,
with
all
of
the
other
competitive
things
going
on,
we
have
maybe
40
kids
and
we
we
change
this
from
group
classes
to
private
lessons,
so
the
kids
play
the
violin,
the
cello,
the
guitar
and
the
piano,
and
they
have
their
choice
of
a
20
minute
or
30
minute
lesson.

Every
week
now
down
the
street,
we
have
a
violin
program.
Well,
this
is
after
school.
This
is
also
after
school.
One
day
a
week,
I
think
there
are
eight
kids
in
this
program.
We
buy
the
instruments
for
all
of
these
young
youngsters.
This
is
a
tuition
based
program.
The
kids
don't
pay
anything
for
this.

We
started
a
program
thanks
to
the
federal
funding
several
years
ago,
I
think,
seven
years
ago,
in
the
in
the
elementary
school,
when
the
federal
funds
ran
out,
the
middle
school
picked
up
the
program
before
became
Northgate.
They
built
that
new
president
building
over
there.
There
are
three
classes
that
take
that
happen.
Every
day
of
the
week
during
school
hours,
it's
a
graded
class.
There
are
ten
kids
in
each
class,
the
beginning
class
and
intermediate,
and
the
class
is
called
a
performing
class
and
that
those
kids
go
out
and
play
in
the
community.

That's
been
going
on
for
six
years.
The
district
of
Sheridan
pays
us.
Sixteen
thousand
dollars
every
year
helps
cover
the
costs
of
that
we
have
one
teacher
who's
working
there
every
single
day.
We
also
have
a
teacher
once
a
week
who
works
with
the
kids.
There
are
21
kids
and
the
it's
actually
a
new
program
string
orchestra,
that's
shared,
and
so
we,
the
teacher
who
teaches
a
bishop
kids,
goes
over
once
a
week.
Very
early
7:30
in
the
morning
works
with
the
kids
and
the
orchestra
there.
This
is
a
new
shining
light
for
us,
mr.
B
David's
music
class,
that
happens
at
Maddox,
early
childhood
Learning
Center
and
every
one
of
those
youngsters,
225
of
them
meet
with
David
several
times
per
month,
and
he
does
fun
stuff
with
them
where
they
learn
to
sing,
and
they
it's
a
very
music
oriented
experience
for
the
kids
and
they
learn
about
teamwork.
They
learn
vocabulary.
They
learn
to
count.
It's
quite
an
amazing
experience.

The
director
of
our
strings
attached
program,
David
Paul,
created
this
program.
When
he
lived
in
Florida,
he
did
it
for
15
years
and
we
actually
found
some
funding
for
at
the
school.
The
school
doesn't
give
us
a
cent
for
it.
So
we
have
a
person
in
town
here
who
is
very
interested
in
early
childhood
education
and
she
went
over.

One
day
saw
the
program
and
she
writes
us
a
check
new
to
us
this
year
is
the
Clayton
theatre
productions,
I,
don't
know
if
any
of
you
have
ever
seen
what
michelle
grimes
does
over
there,
but
for
15
years,
through
her
own
initiative
solely
she's,
been
working
with
25
kids
with
a
third
production
that
she
writes
and
directs
every
year.
Well,.

The
Xcel
Energy
foundation
wanted
to
give
us
some
more
money
this
year
they
increased
their
grant,
but
they
said
give
us
tell
us
what
you're
going
to
do.
That's
new,
so
we
decided
to
work
with
Michele
Grimes
over
there
and
we
provided
musicians
and
a
composer
to
write
original
music
for
the
play.
The
art
of
changing
Mamie
was
a
wonderful
experience.

Ok,
those
are
basically
our
education
programs.
We
do
a
series
of
chamber
music
concerts
in
Hampton
hall.
We
started
doing
them
in
here.
Maybe
in
the
year
2000
and
I
played
in
a
few
of
them.
I
can
remember.
We
had
maybe
six
people
in
the
audience
for
some
of
them,
maybe
because
I
was
playing
anyway.
Then
we
graduated
to
the
atrium.
Did
a
number
of
concerts
there
that
acoustics
in
the
atrium
are
just
sensational.

Half
the
paul
appeared,
we
moved
our
concerts
in
there,
we
do
it,
we
do
non
concerts
every
year,
starting
at
November,
I
mean
September.
Will
one
concert
and
those
concerts
are
very
well
attended.
We
hit
they're
close
to
sold
out
almost
every
time.
We
also
do
a
series
of
concerts.
We
call
onstage
in
Hampton
Hall.
You
might
mention.

We've
had
quite
a
few
of
those.
The
hall
is
becoming
popular,
it
has
its
limitations,
but
it's
becoming
a
valuable
destination
for
a
lot
of
individuals
and
organizations.
You
probably
have
reviewed
those
but
I
just
to
give
you
an
idea
of
the
variety
and
diversity
of
events
that
go
on
and
therefore
just
from
the
people
renting
it
and
organizations.
One
of
the
first
events
was
a
world
fitness
Association
competition.

Marijuana
growers
had
a
day-long
event
over
there
on
education
on
the
how
how
to
grow.
Marijuana
SunRun,
which
is
a
solar
one
of
the
bigger
solar
energy
companies
in
the
country,
showed
the
famous
film
after
the
flood,
and
they
were
actually
promoting.
The
use
of
solar,
solar
energy
in
residential
buildings.

Survivors
of
childhood
sexual
abuse-
this
was
at
the
foundation
new
to
me,
but
the
room
was
full.
There
were
200
people
over
there
and
seven
or
eight
seven
or
eight
people
spoke
out
about.
They
gave
their
testimonies
and
it's
a
very
important
organization
that
helps
people
one
other
thing:
I
just
like
to
say
about
Hampton
Hall,
it's
a
wonderful
destination
and
it's
we're
hoping
that
it
will
be
used
more
and
more
by
the
community.
But
it's
like
a
beacon
here
in
angle.

Would
thousands
of
people
come
to
Hampton
Hall,
who
would
not
ordinarily
ever
set
foot
in
Englewood,
and
that's
mostly
our
our
chamber
music
concerts?
Most
of
those
people
don't
aren't
from
Anglet
who
attend
those
we've
had
about
7,000
people
renting
participating
in
rental
events
over
there.
That
has
pleased
me
greatly
and
Englewood
arts.
So,
gentlemen,
if
you'd
like
to
say
anything
about
well.

That
was
an
Arts
Centre
in
Englewood,
but
we
weren't
able
to
bring
all
the
pieces
of
that
together,
but
we're
all
very
convinced
that
educating
young
children
not
only
gives
them
the
experience
of
the
music,
but
there's
all
kinds
of
data
that
shows
that
music
experience
terms,
young
people
into
young
collect,
collect
careful
adults,
and
so
it's
it's
it's
more
than
just
an
opportunity
for
them
to
hear
music
or
to
participate
in
playing
music.
It
adds
a
level
of
discipline.
That's
the
thing
we
always
see
with
our
young
kids
in
particular.
They
learn
self-discipline.

Increasingly
now
a
place
and
I
know
from
the
work
I
do
with
nonprofits
in
the
Denver
area.
Venue
space
is
a
big
problem
for
many
many
arts
organizations.
They
don't
have
a
place
to
perform
they're
in
the
visions
of
performing
and
they
rehearse
and
work
hard
for
it
and
they
need
a
place
to
show
what
they
can
do
and
there
hasn't
been
one
and
that
Hall
provides
a
wonderful
spot
for
them
and
it
has
a
value
of
a
place.
You
can
park
your
car
easily
and
now,
of
course,
light
rail.

really

all
of
the
programs

there
Hampton
Hall
could

improved

little
bit.
It
needs
upgrades
with
the
lighting,
the
theater
lighting,

actually
the
speakers
are
great,
but
the
soundboard
needs
to
be
upgraded.
It's
pretty
antiquated
and
a
lot
of
the
be
room
could
be
used
more
if
the
renters
didn't
have
to
rent
their
own
equipment
and
bring
it
in
so
I'd
like
to
I'm
hoping
that
we
might
be
able
to
work
together
to
see
some
of
those
upgrades
happen.

want

say
that
I
get
a
lot
of.
We
received
a
lot
of
cooperation
from
the
building
staff,
martin
hernandez
and
max
grande
gel,
and
even
the
people
who
empty
the
trash
from
time
to
time.
You

light
bulb
goes
out.
I
need
the
doors
to
be
unlocked
at
a
certain
time.
Max
and
Martin
are
always
there
within
minutes
to
respond
in
a
positive
way.
I
really
enjoy
the
relationship
that
we
have
with
the
building
staff,
never
I've
never
encountered
any
resistance.
I
appreciate
that.

own
the
piano,
it
was
donated
to
us
back
in
November.
Yes,
it
was
a
gift
from
a
family,
nice
lady
who
had
played
the
piano
for
many
years.
It's
a
Steinway
okay
and
it's
actually
been
made
in
1885,
but
when
it
was
donated
to
us,
we
had
it.
We
had
it
refurbished
has
all
brand-new
Steinway
parts
in
it
and
it
plays
great.
It's
not
a
nine-footer.
It's
a
Steinway
B,
which
is
about
a
seven
footer
and
it
for
most
of
our
purposes.

It
will
be
satisfactory,
but
when
we
have
nationally
known
artists
last
month,
we
had
an
shine
come
in
here,
she's
know
all
over
the
world
she
performed
on
in
it.
On
the
nine-footer
next
year
we
have
Christopher
O'reilly
coming
in
he's.
Also
very
well
known
national
pianist
he'll
play
on
the
nine-footer,
so
we
do
have
a
piano.
It
was
used
last
night
in
the
voice.
Recital
from
a
student,
a
student
voice
studio
say
that
right,
a
bunch
of
students
from.

Can
you
tell
us
and
citizens
or
constituents
listening
what
your
relationship
with
the
Cultural
Arts
Commission
today
looks
like
or
what
you
would
hope
it
could
look
like
because
they
see
additional
opportunities
to
continue
collaboration,
knowing
one
that
one
of
their
initiatives.
That
presence
is
to
align
spaces
for
artistic
performance
with
the
artists
in
the
metro
area.
So
some
of
what
you're
already
doing
they
know
yeah
quite.

we
have
a
fee,
a
standard
fee,
but
it's
negotiable.
Okay,
a
lot
of
nonprofits
like
there
are
children's
theaters
that
use
the
place
and
they
can't
really
afford
to
pay
top
dollar
for
it.

room
to
be
used,
but
yet
this
stream
of
revenue
it's
necessary
for
us,
because
it
helps
support
all
of
this.
That's
going
on
here.
You
know
we,
we
all
know
the
violins
and
cellos
that
are
used
in
Sheridan
and
those
violins
over
here,
that's
not
inexpensive.

think

contract

guys

a

idea.

to
be
getting
pretty
good
at
booking

amount

you

about
the
same
each
year
give

take

little

little
bit
down
for
2018.

looks
but

believe

memory

that
contract

contract

something
structurally
with
the
room

whether
its
material
equipment

then,
let's
see
where
we
go
from
there,

would

least
like
to
see
what
you're.

donors

and

still

had
really
strings

having
just

the
schools
and
that
not
that
it
didn't

big
impact,
but
it's

been
a
lot
over
the
last
18
years.

bringing

that

have

real
discussion

whether
it's
viable

move
forward
with
some
equipment

we're

if

city

partner

how
we're
contributing

for

underused.

mind
as
we're
going

a
budget
cycle
that
that
is
not.

people

of
the
reason
that
I

favor
of
the
town
hall
meeting.

meeting

council

they

address
council

their

think
the
most
important
thing
is
the
four
different
options
that
were
presented
to
this
council
previously
in
terms
of
regulating
and
use
I
think
where
we
want
it.
We're
hesitating,
maybe
is
that
we
didn't
want
to
have
this,
be
a
staff
presentation
and
then
staff
fielding
questions
on
what
we
may
or
may
not
do
that
that
our
impression
of
this
was
that
we
kind
of
held
these
two
larger
informational
sessions,
educated
the
public
and
what
some
of
the
options
were
out
there.

stuff

this
session
was
more
focused
on
hey-
the
council
is
considering
final,
a
final
decision

some
point
we
want
to
hear
from
the

technical
questions,
but
ask
that
I
think
we
need
some
specific
guidance
as
to
what
you'd
want
us
to
may

how
to
frame
the
evening,
but
I
think

we
were
struggling

figuring
out
exactly.

that

don't
think,
we've
gotten
rid
of
that
necessarily

doing

things

that
was
the
catalyst
for
the
issue
coming
forward

first

back

make
sure
that
people
understand
the
foundation
of
this.

events

involved

the

citizens,
our
constituents
beyond

accomplish

get

requested

citizens.

they
were
frustrated.
They
felt
somewhat
disjointed
and
disconnected
from

information

provided

they
requested
this.
The
citizens
did
not
necessarily
counsel
so
I
think
the
goal
is
to
go
ahead
and
let
the
citizens
have
the
meeting
and
information
in
the
way
that
they
have
requested
and
see
where
see
where
that
takes
us,
because
I
think
they
were
pretty
frustrated.
I
If
we
have
direct
communication
from
constituents
stating
a
frustration,
then
let's
simply
use
that
data.
Let's
revisit
the
communications
we
have
requesting
this
meeting
from
the
citizens
and
do
we
have
that
such
that
we
can
put
together
some
list
of
at
least
look
at
that
I
haven't
I,
don't
recall,
seeing
a
phone
or
write-up
and
I
would
also
like
to
know
what
mr.
power
feels
about
this
question
were
discussing.

sense

about
was
a
little
bit
about
what
the
mayor
said,
which

this

had
two
very
interactive
workshops
in
this
room
with
upwards
of
a
couple
hundred
people
from

community
that
were
very
structured
and
intended
to
be
that
way,
so
people
can
educate
themselves
and
have
that
discussion
about
this
is
where
I
live.
These
were
the
options.
This
is
how
I
feel
about
it,
and
this
is
my
response
to
you're
asking
that
me
about
these
three
or
four
options.

that's

we
were
thinking
it
was
was
going
to
be
the
case.

think
one
of
the
things
that
I
heard
earlier
was
a
little
bit
of
a
struggle,
or
at
least
a
discussion
around
how
to
kind
of
kick
things
off

kind
of
ground
people,
and
one
of
the
things
that
we
suggested
to
the
city
manager
was
at
the
second
workshop
that
we
did.
There
was
a
kind
of
a
looped
discussion
around
these.

whether
allowing
them

could
possibly
cue
that

and

to

kind

relative

the
pros
and
cons
of
having

step
back

ability

discussion

folks

us
direction

summer
about
where
to
go

where
we
thought.

people

think

collect

individual

somebody

least
maybe
a
neutral

they

but
maybe
they
write

our

one

us
or
all
of
us
just

way
of
thinking
about
it.

do
love

idea
