Hello
englewood,
my
name
is
wade,
burkholder
planning
manager
in
the
community
development
department
and
project
manager
for
the
codenext
project.
So,
first
of
all
what
is
code
next
codenext
represents
the
update
of
englewood's,
comprehensive
framework
of
development
regulations
or
the
unified
development
code
or
udc
to
ensure
quality
development
for
all
generations.
A
Englewood
is
a
diverse
community
with
development
ranging
from
the
transit
oriented
city
center
and
historic
downtown
to
a
strategically
planned
network
of
early
mid
20th
century
bungalow
style.
Neighborhoods
codenext
must
contemplate
all
development
context
in
a
way
that
is
appropriate
to
different
neighborhood
market
and
environmental
settings.
Throughout
the
code
revision
process,
the
udc
includes
regulations
and
design
standards
that
address
zoning
land,
uses,
building
setbacks,
building
height
parking
landscaping,
neighborhood
character,
application
procedures
and
is
one
of
the
primary
tools
used
to
support
the
implementation
of
the
city's
comprehensive
plan.
A
The
codenext
project
will
strive
to
implement
the
plan
and
to
address
its
goals
while
responding
to
shifting
priorities
and
changes
in
social
and
market
conditions
through
revisions
to
the
udc.
The
current
udc
was
primarily
developed
and
adopted
in
2004
and
has
not
been
comprehensively
revised
since
its
inception.
A
Earlier
this
spring,
the
city
finished
the
unified
development
code
assessment,
which
included
a
substantial
community
engagement
process
to
learn
what
is
working
well
with
the
code,
what
isn't
working
well
with
the
code
and
what
kinds
of
things
might
be
missing
that
should
be
included
in
the
code
code.
Next
is
the
final
phase
of
the
project
and
proposed
amendments
and
redrafts
of
the
unified
development
code.
Language
will
be
considered
the
five
main
topics
to
come
from
the
community
assessment
and
that
will
be
discussed
further
in
code.
A
The
planning
and
zoning
commission
and
city
council
will
additionally
hold
public
hearings
on
the
proposed
changes
to
the
code,
and
it
is
anticipated.
The
new
code
will
become
effective
towards
the
end
of
2022.
Information
on
the
project
will
be
posted
on
the
englewood
engaged
web
page.
Additionally,
you
are
able
to
ask
questions
and
watch
future
videos
that
will
explore
all
aspects
of
the
codenext
project.
