From YouTube: Mayor Linda Olson addresses the COVID-19 crisis
Description
Englewood Mayor Linda Olson addresses the COVID-19 crisis and ways you can stay connected while staying at home
A
We
all
know
we
are
living
in
a
time
of
uncertainty
and,
as
the
mayor
of
Englewood
I
feel,
it
is
important
to
share
a
few
of
the
steps
the
city
is
taking
in
response
to
this
current
health
emergency
city-owned
buildings
have
been
closed
in
an
effort
to
protect
the
most
vulnerable
citizens
in
our
community.
From
the
spread
of
this
virus.
Many
employees
are
working
from
home
and,
if
possible,
I
encourage
you
to
do
the
same.
We
encourage
you
to
try
to
limit
your
time
and
activities
in
public
places
in
practice.
A
Effective
physical,
distancing,
living
in
isolation
is
a
new
experience
for
many
of
us
during
this
time,
and
while
it
aligns
with
the
current
best
health
practices,
retaining
social
connectedness
is
also
crucial
to
our
mental
health.
So,
with
this
in
mind,
I
encourage
you
to
take
advantage
of
new
programs.
The
city
is
implementing.
During
this
time,
virtual
communities
sharing
circles
are
being
set
up
online.
This
will
give
residents
a
chance
to
listen
and
share
support
and
virtually
engage
with
others
in
your
community.
A
Our
neighborhood
Resource
Coordinator
is
creating
a
phone
Buddies
program
that
will
match
residents
with
the
same
interests
for
a
15
minute
phone
call
twice
a
week.
We
hope
everyone
in
Englewood
and
particularly
senior
citizens,
will
find
this
an
effective
way
to
combat
isolation
and
make
a
new
friend
in
several
neighborhoods.
We
are
seeing
neighborliness
popping
up
with
flyers
like
these
ready
to
help
people
by
sending
these
on
people's
doorsteps
and
asking
if
they
need
help
with
buying
groceries,
shoveling
the
walk
and
perhaps
just
another
phone
call
from
someone
in
their
neighborhood.
A
This
Saturday,
my
neighborhood
is
starting
a
Saturday
salute
at
noon,
where
we
will
all
step
outside
of
our
front
doors,
salute
each
other
and
say
hello,
so
Englewood
residents
are
helping
one
another
in
ways
that
are
in
step
with
good
physical,
distancing
and
health
guidelines
and
as
a
community.
We
will
get
through
this
unprecedented
time
and
we
want
to
hear
your
uplifting
stories
stories
that
have
given
you
renewed
hope.
During
these
trying
times,
we
will
feature
your
stories
on
the
city
of
Englewood,
social
media
platforms
or
the
website.
A
A
signup
form
for
more
information
about
these
programs
and
how
you
can
participate
is
available
on
our
neighborhood
resources
page
and
while
you're
at
it.
If
you
happen
to
have
a
lot
of
these
in
your
home,
please
check
with
your
neighbors
and
see
if
they
have
run
out
and
while
you're
doing
that,
you
might
want
to
help
with
a
shovel
and,
let's
get
everybody
sidewalks
clear
today,
be
well
Inglewood.
