Anyone
driving
down
South
Broadway
has
surely
taken
note
of
the
stately
gothic
theater
a
modern
concert
venue
with
a
colorful
history.
The
Roaring
Twenties
not
only
gave
birth
to
the
grand
Art

style
of
the
times,
but
also
introduced
movie
theaters
as
a
central
hub
for
socialization
and
entertainment.
It
was
during
this
unique
period
in
time
that
the
gothic
theater
was
constructed
a
first
for
Englewood
in
a
draw
for
movie
buffs
from
all
across
the
region.
A
The
gothic
theater
built
in
1925
was
the
first
venue

area

as

This
new
era
in
entertainment,
brought
droves
of
crowds
to
the
Gothic
and
by
the
early
1930s
talkies
had
become
a
global
phenomenon.
The
interior
of
the
Gothic
theatre
was
just
as
captivating
as
the
film's
projected
on
the
screen.
The
signature,
art

design
can
be
found
in
the

and
geometric
patterns.

Fortunately,
the
unique
interior
design
remained
unaltered
as
years
wore
on
ownership

the
Gothic

hands
several
times,
beeps
proving
unsuccessful
in
their
bid
to
restore
the
theater
to
its
former
glory.
Just
before
the
building
was
slated
for
demolition.

are
just
a
few
of
the
high-profile

Still
standing
tall
at

South
Broadway,
the
gothic

strikes
a
balance
between
lending

to

while
also
courting
marquee
talent.
Nearly
a

the

continues
to
