From YouTube: Flow it Forward 🌊
Description
It’s a part of our everyday lives but we don’t give much thought to one of Englewood’s most important resources: water. The City of Englewood has launched a campaign to highlight the existing community commitment to accessing clean, safe water. In order for Englewood to maintain its reputation as a superior provider, forward-thinking investments are being taken to ensure sustainability while we also move into the future.

Hello
englewood,
you
may
have
heard
a
quirky
little
phrase.
That's
being
talked
about
all
over
town
flow
it
forward.
So
were
you
curious?
Let
me
explain:
it
forward.
Is
englewood's
plan
to
replace
outdated
water
systems
and
properly
maintain
them
in
the
future.
This
will
keep
our
systems
running
properly,
to
serve
our
community
and
keep
our
residents
safe.
A
Much
of
our
infrastructure
is
more
than
70
years
old.
This
is
well
beyond
their
recommended
lifespan
and
they
are
in
urgent
need
of
repairs,
outdated
storm
water
system
pipes
are
undersized
and
nearly
65
years
old.
Upgrading
these
pipes
to
a
larger
size
in
some
cases
to
an
eight
foot
by
ten
foot
diameter
will
help
prevent
flooding
and
sink
holes
by
more
effectively
carrying
water.
A
While
our
water
is
clean,
older
pipes
from
the
source
to
your
home
can
cause
discoloration
and
a
funny
taste.
Replacing
these
lines
will
greatly
improve
drinking
water
quality,
who
doesn't
want
better
tasting
water,
you're-
probably
asking
yourself:
what's
this
going
to
cost
all
told
we're
looking
at
263
million
dollars
to
complete
all
repairs?
Of
course
this
would
happen
over
multiple
years.
A
It
sounds
like
a
lot
of
money
and
it
is
but
by
selling
long-term
bonds,
englewood
water
and
sewer
customers
can
afford
these
investments
and
still
have
some
of
the
lowest
water
in
sewer
bills
in
the
state.
Let's
take
a
look
at
a
rate
comparison
for
6,
000,
gallons
of
water
and
wastewater
with
our
neighbors,
as
you
can
see
at
46.86
we're
well
behind
the
85
monthly
average,
our
neighboring
communities
pay.
