where
I've
been
for
the
last
almost
17
years,
working
for
the
las
vegas
club,
county
library,
district,
hundreds
of
libraries,
which
is
a
large
but
kind
of
suburban
city
adjacent
to
las
vegas,
I'm
originally
from
the
chicagoland
area.
I
grew
up
in
oak
park
illinois
and
I
went
to
undergrad
at
iowa
state
university
in
ames,
iowa.

I
just
wasn't
really
fulfilled
by
that
kind
of
career
path
and
went
back
to
graduate
school
to
become
a
librarian
at
dominican
university
in
river
reports,
overlay,
which
is
urban
chicago
and
then
really
a
few
months
after
I
finished
my
actually
after
I
finished
my
graduate
program,
I
moved
out
to
las
vegas
with
my
husband's
mom
lived
out
there
and
I
happened
to
get
a
job,
so
I
was
like:
let's
try
it
out.
It
was
only
just
a
few
few
years.

It's
just
not
as
well
taken
care
of
there's
not
a
lot
of
new
young
families
that
are
moving
in
there's
a
lot
of
retirees
and
older
people
and
then
there's
tons
of
apartment
complexes.
So
it's
really
transient
in
that
corner.
So
I've
been
in
those
hugely
affluent
areas
too,
which
is
crazy.
So
it's
a
big
mix,
yep.

Security
associate
of
part-time
that
will
help
us
on
the
weekends
tj
who's.
Our
full-time
security
personnel
is
doing
great
and
I've
seen
a
change.
We've
had
issues,
there's
always
going
to
be
issues
but
tj
and
the
staff
get
to
know
the
patrons,
and
that
has
really
helped
much
better
than
our
contract
security.
Prior.
That
was
constant
turnover
of
people.
They
never
got
to
know
anybody.

You
know
you
call
somebody
by
their
first
name.
You
see
their
demeanor
change
a
lot
of
times
and
the
behavior
changes,
so
tj
is
doing
a
great
job.
Tj
will
be
training
and
hopefully,
our
new
part-time
security
associate
and
staff
training
from
the
police
departments
on
just
you
know,
self-defense
how
to
position
yourself
if
you're
waking,
somebody
sleeping
how
do
you
do
that?
So
you
don't
get
knocked
out
because
you
scare
them
and
they
don't
know
where
they're
at
and
so
that's
in
the
works.

then
I'll
just
move
to
the
next
one
return
to
sunday's
may
8th
we're
going
to
be
reopening
on
something
there
will
be
one
weekend.
I
think
it's
the
following
weekend:
we're
gonna
probably
have
to
shut
down
we're
getting
new
carpeting
and
so
it'll
actually
get
a
lot
better
if
we're
able
to
shut
down
friday,
saturday
and
sunday
early
temporarily,
but
unfortunately,
books
have
reopened
and
then
we'll
have
an
update
on
the.
Maybe
you
know
what
those
dates
are:
we're
still
waiting
for
the
company
to.
Let
us
know
the
schedule
of
all.

Be
good
to
know
more
of
that.
You
know
people
are
scared
to
come
in
here
because
of
some
of
the
patrons
that
visit
us.
We
can't
necessarily
change
that,
but
there
might
be
things
you
can
do
to
make
it.
The
perception
would
feel
safer.
Like
the
security
guard.
I
know
just
that.
We're
staffer
positioned
having
different
exits.
That's
part
of
the
capital
project
so
we'll
be
presenting
on
the
25th
of
this
month.

Capital
budgets
and
I
think
what
we're
focusing
on
for
this
year
on,
is
and
potentially
doing
some
different
practices
or
entrance
points
making
children's
areas
safer
getting
quotes
on
holistic
window
coverings.
I
hate
that,
but
it's
day
and
age
we
live
in.
Unfortunately,
and
really
the
children's
area
is
my
top
focus.
So
if
we
have
a
story
time
going
on
and
something
happens,
those
kids
are
100
protected,
we're
changing
the
locks
on
the
doors.

It's
interesting
to
watch
as
the
summer
comes.
You
know
that
changes
due
to
the
weather's
nice
outside,
so
a
lot
of
people
that
are
hanging
out
get
out
of
cold
temperatures
are
now
outside,
but
that's
part
of
the
study
to
really
find
out
what
the
community
and
outreach,
through
special
events,
maybe
doing
a
community
survey.
If
it's
people
to
do
something
like
that
to
really
give
them
an
idea
of
support,
would
they
come
in
if
we
opened
earlier?
Would
they
actually
come
in
to
utilize
library
mornings
usually
starts
here.

Was
much
like
this
library
and
they
ended
up
going
like
they
closed
fridays,
but
they
were
saturday
and
sunday
where
the
other
library
was
closed
friday,
saturday
and
sunday
because
it
was
usage,
so
people
kind
of
really
helped,
and
so
people
weren't
really
coming
to
the
library,
maybe
10
on
a
saturday,
and
we
were
paying
a
lot
for
staff
and
just
have
the
facility
open
so
yeah.
The
study
will
help
us
because
I
don't
know
people
counters
are
new
and
they
work,
and
so
that
will
help
us
do
this.

Because
things
that
we're
seeing
here
in
the
library
it
might
be
a
resource
center
or
that
that's
separate
of
the
library
that
some
of
these
individuals
just
want
to
apply
for
jobs,
if
you
think
the
library
may
change,
you
can
go
back
to
the
books
and
story
times
and
the
coffee
shop
type
concept.
Where
you
come
to
work
right
now.
We're
kind
of
a
mixed
use
of
hangout
just
a
place
to
be,
and
if
there
was
a
resource
center
that
people
could
go
do
that.

And
so
he
did
show
up
for
that
one
and
that
one
would
be
a
trespass.
I
think
we
asked
for
30
days
his
paperwork
at
this
point.
Unfortunately,
the
the
forms
that
are
needed
for
staff
to
fill
out
how
incumbent
he
is
you,
do
have
another
gentleman
that
just
believes
probably
mentally
ill
and
he
broke
one
of
our
keyboards.
The
public
computers
were
repaired.
He
was
aggressive
and
harassed
with
powerhouse
and
staff,
and
so
we
got
started
exclusions
with
him
as
well
and
so
on.

So
it's
something
that's
online!
That
staff
can
fill
out
right
now
from
a
legal
perspective.
We
needed
a
signature,
and
I
have
pushed
like
the
gentleman
that
broke
a
keyboard
with
his
head.
I'm
not
going
to
ask
our
staff
to
walk
up
and
say
please,
science
you're
being
excluded
from
the
you
know:
they're
not
going
to
supply.

So
that's
the
challenge
of
meeting
that
signature.
We
cannot,
we
can
write
on
our
same.
You
know
signature
not
obtained
due
to
final
action,
but
yeah
we're
hoping
to
streamline
it,
because
a
lot
of
different
departments
are
involved
from
city
clearance
from
the
right
directors
in
general
to
records
and
police
or
involved
the
legal
department's
involved
in
the
recreation
library
called
facilities.
Public
works
everything.
So
it's
a
major
moving
piece.
I
feel
we're
closer.
At
least
we
have
code
of
conduct,
that's
posted
throughout
our
areas.

You
don't
want
to
necessarily
to
be
able
to
come
back
tomorrow,
so
right
having
fun
doesn't
make
an
appeal.
That's
the
other
challenge.
You
can
have
five,
which
means,
if
you
come
in
and
cause
problems,
I
can
say
you're
excluded
from
the
library
for
30
days,
because
you've
broken
up
on
these
areas.
But
technically
you
have
right
where
you
can
appeal
the
whole
process.

I
don't
know
what
the
appetite
is
for
that
in
the
community,
but
it
seems
like
it
would
be
something
that
would
be
relatively
easy
to
to
you
know.
Even
if
we
got
like
fifty
thousand
dollars
like
it's,
you
know
five
or
six
thousand
dollars
a
year.
You
know
I
love
that
we
can
jump
in,
but
you
know,
there's
there
are
holes
and
sponsorships
can
go
a
certain
way.
Business
investment
can
go
certainly,
but
that'd
be
something
I'd
like
to
see
and
it'll
take
time.

I
think
I
don't
know
the
legalities
of
this
being
a
city
property.
My
denver
has
one,
so
I
think
thinking
about
how
we
can
do
some
outside
fundraising
foundations
or
businesses
and
sort
of
support.
Some
of
the
work
the
library
does
is
something
that
I
would
like
to
start
looking
at.
As
foreign.
