From YouTube: Tri-Cities Homelessness Action Plan: Spotlight - 5280
Description
With the approval of the Tri-Cities Homelessness Action Plan in 2021, Englewood, Littleton and Sheridan have committed to addressing the root causes of homelessness. The group worked with the University of Denver Center for Housing and Homelessness to better understand family and chronic homelessness in the Tri-Cities. Englewood is focused on using data to identify the root causes of homelessness. The report outlines top causes for homelessness, primary barriers to permanent housing and more. Partnerships with local non-profits like Movement 5280 are a key component of this plan. Read more at englewoodco.gov/homelessness.
A
Movement
5280
has
been
in
existence
since
2010..
We
first
started
on
colfax
and
colorado
and
then
moved
up
the
broadway
corridor.
Our
second
location
was
broadway
in
arizona
and
then
planted
here
in
englewood
about
three
and
a
half
years
ago.
Our
founder
was
a
therapist
at
third
way:
treatment
center
for
young
people,
and
he
recognized
that
young
people
were
transitioning
out
of
foster
care
and
going
to
the
streets
and
actually
went
to
the
pastor
of
his
church
and
said.
A
Could
you
help
me
with
a
center
for
young
people
to
have
a
safe
place
to
go
and
to
find
resources
and
people
who
could
love
and
care
for
them?
And
so
the
pastor
was
very
supportive
and
we
launched
our
first
location
and,
within
a
few
weeks,
had
30
to
50
young
people
that
were
homeless
or
at
risk
that
were
coming
to
the
center
for
safety
and
for
a
clean
way
to
hang
out
and
to
find
supportive,
loving
people
to
kind
of
help
them
with
those
next
steps.
A
So
we
are
now
going
on
12
years
old
and
have
grown
our
our
resources
and
our
capacity
to
a
much
greater
level.
Broader
and
deeper,
and
during
the
pandemic
we
opened
our
doors
wide
to
anyone
of
any
age,
not
just
youth
and
young
adults,
because
there
was
a
great
need
during
that
time
to
feed
people
and
to
help
people.
We
find
success
as
people
that
are
striving
to
get
off
the
streets.
A
So
part
of
what
we're
doing
is
measuring
engagement
by
are
we
getting
them?
I
joked
with
the
young
man
in
the
hall.
We
we're
getting
you
from
the
streets
to
the
sheets,
you
know
getting
you
into
housing,
getting
you
into
programs
getting
you
employed
and
then
a
lot
of
those
people
come
back
and
volunteer.
So
you
may
have
seen
some
of
them
around
today.
