In 2018 the Tri-Cities Homelessness Policy group was created in partnership with Englewood, Littleton and Sheridan. Homelessness is a challenge that cities in the south metro area face, and we recognized that if we are going to alleviate this issue then we needed to work together.

In 2021, the city councils of Englewood, Littleton and Sheridan approved the Tri-Cities Homelessness Plan of Action. This plan will be implemented over the next three years. The plan provides key research findings as well as strategies designed to reduce the impact of homelessness on those experiencing it as well as the larger community. Homelessness is a regional issue and it's one: that's not going to be solved overnight and one.

That really takes commitment from a variety of different partners at different levels of.

Government and nonprofits, so tri-cities is a group that includes the cities of sheridan, littleton and.

Englewood those those three cities have partnered together for many years and different topics on.

This particular topic they've worked together for about three and a half years and we meet once a.

Month, but it also includes people from the county, people from our non-profit community and other.

Areas as well and so about a year and a half ago, we undertook a project working with the university.

Of denver to study and understand why people are experiencing homelessness because, of course,.

To solve any issue, you really need to focus on the root causes, so we did that we presented that.

Information a joint session to all three city councils. They gave us a go-ahead to write a.

Plan of action, and so we finished that presented to the three city councils and it's been adopted.

And so now we're working to implement it, but it's really a road map. It's a three-year plan.

To basically implement some key strategies designed to both help people experiencing.

Homelessness, but also mitigate the impact of homelessness on the larger community. Our goal.

Is basically to impact positively as many people experiencing homelessness as we can and then.

To measure success that way here, our partnership with the county is critical as well, so the county.

Recently approved an intergovernmental agreement or iga that will allow the three cities to share a.

A

Homelessness resource coordinator among the three cities, but the county will really be providing.

A

The platform for that person to succeed, and so that really is helping kind of scale up some.

A

Of the work that we've done and also to make sure that when other areas in the county or the region.

A

Really work on this issue that we're making sure that, while cities have a certain uniqueness to.

A

Them that we're also looking at best practices and working together as much as we can.
