A
Hello,
everybody.
This
is
wade,
burkholder
planning
manager
for
the
community
development
department
at
the
city
of
englewood.
Today
I
want
to
talk
to
you
about
attainable
housing.
Many
residents
in
the
community
have
come
forth
and
expressed
an
opinion
that
there
is
a
severe
lack
of
attainable
housing
to
residents
and
families
within
the
community.
A
The
average
household
income
in
englewood
is
just
over
56
000,
and
that
equates
to
an
affordable
house
in
the
range
of
250
to
260
thousand
dollars.
So
you
can
see
the
discrepancy
and
the
difficulty
many
homeowners
and
families
face
when
looking
for,
affordable
and
attainable
housing
within
the
community.
A
A
A
This
allows
more
homeowners
to
share
a
single
lot,
thus
reducing
the
overall
lot
cost
for
all
homeowners
involved.
Another
option
available
would
be
to
reduce
the
minimum
lot
size
in
englewood
from
three
thousand
square
feet
to
one
thousand
square
feet,
thus
reducing
the
overall
cost
of
buying
a
house.
A
A
We
would
like
to
hear
your
opinions
on
whether
or
not
we
should
increase
that
number
to
possibly
four
unrelated
persons
living
in
a
house
to
be
defined
as
a
household
that
would
again
bring
more
people
into
a
house
to
share
rent
share
mortgages
and
then
therefore
reducing
the
overall
cost
of
owning
a
house.
The
city
of
englewood
could
also
look
at
a
model
of
small
home
communities,
which
is
essentially
a
town
home
style
community,
where
there
are
multiple
structures
on
a
single
lot.
A
A
homeowner
would
therefore
own
the
actual
structure,
but
not
the
land
on
which
it
sits.
Finally,
the
city
of
englewood
has
heard
a
lot
about
accessory
dwelling
units
over
this
last
few
months.
Accessory
dwelling
units
are
essentially
an
additional
dwelling
on
the
property
which
will
help
offset
the
homeowners
costs.
Thank
you
for
joining.
Today's
join
the
conversation.
We
look
forward
to
hearing
from
you
and
providing
your
thoughts
and
input
on
these
various
ways
to
increase
attainable
housing
within
the
city
of
englewood.
