A
I'm
eveson
city
manager,
Wally
Bob
coats
and
welcome
to
this
edition
of
Evanston
spotlight
where
we
talk
about
upcoming
items
on
the
next
city
council
meeting
agenda,
which
is
on
Monday
June,
the
24th
and
I'm
joined
today
by
Raja
Hall,
our
senior
project
manager
with
our
Public
Works
Agency
Rajee
welcome.
Thank
you.
One
of
the
items
we
have
on
the
agenda
coming
up
is
about
Talmadge
lights.
So
for
those
who
don't
know
what
a
Talmadge
light
is,
what
is
a
Talmadge
light?
Well,
Tamas.
B
Light
is
named
after
Thomas
Eddie
Talmadge.
He
designed
the
fixture
the
city
started
installing
those
in
1930s
in
1979
city
city
did
a
street
light
plan
and
replaced
if
most,
if
not
all
the
lights.
At
that
time,
we
have
about
6,000
streetlights
in
the
city
of
those
4200
are
Calvin.
So
that's
a
lot
of
them.
That's
a
lot
of.
A
B
From
the
1930s
there
was
one
supplier
out
of
Ohio.
Union
metal
had
been
supplying
the
Talmadge
light
to
the
same
so
about
a
year
and
half
ago,
about
a
year
and
so
ago
we
found
out
that
they
went
out
of
business.
It
just
happened
that
we
were
starting
the
streetlight
master
planning
process
at
that
time,
so
we
thought
it
was
best
to
sit
back.
Look
at
the
issues
of
the
Talmadge
before
we
went
out
and
retained
another
vendor
to
supply
us
with
those
lights
and
I.
Think.
A
B
Our
plan
we
there's
some,
there
are
certain
issues
with
the
Thomas
light,
they're.
Basically,
two
issues
one
has
to
do
with
the
pole
and
when
one
with
the
fixture
luminaire
fixture,
the
pole
has
several
components
and
when
you,
when
you
fit
it
together,
saltwater
seems
to
get
in
and
corrode
the
base
and
the
overtime
Talmud's
falls
over.
Our
solution
to
that
is,
go
with
one
piece
ball
and
that's
what
take
care
of
that
problem.
But
they'll
look
just
like
the
ladies
acted
like
you
know
what
they
look
right.
B
As
well
and
the
fixture
is
right
now,
it
gets
screwed
in
from
the
top
mm-hmm.
So
what
that
does
it
close
the
light
up
and
out
mm-hmm
and
we
don't
get
enough
light
on
the
street?
That's
one
of
the
concerns.
So
what
we're
proposing
to
do
is
put
LED
lights
in
the
top
panel,
so
the
lights
can
sign
down
mm-hmm.
Even
with
that
we're
know
again
we're
not
going
to
get
100%
light
on
the
street,
because
we
have
glass
panels
around
the
luminaire.
A
B
That
we
put
out
a
request
for
a
proposal
on
various
materials
cast
iron
ductile
iron,
aluminum
steel.
We
received
three
proposals.
There's
a
team
of
us.
We've
reviewed
the
proposals.
In
fact
this
morning
we
interviewed
one
of
them
and
then
we're
gonna
bring
a
recommendation
for
City
Council
on
the
24th
great.
So.
