My
name
is
Lawrence
Hemingway
and
I
am
the
director
of
the
city
of
Evanston
parks,
recreation
and
community
services
department.

Our
special
recreation
division
remains
committed
to
having
many
of
our
Special
Olympic
athletes,
coaches
and
inclusion
aides,
the
ambassadors
who
work
in
the
Ebsen
community
every
day
impacting
lives
and
traveled
a
state
educating
and
encouraging
others
to
live
a
healthy
lifestyle
for
43
years.
The
city
of
Evanston,
through
his
parks,
recreation
and
community
service
department
has
supported
an
in-house
african-american
theatre
company.
The
multi
award-winning
Fleetwood,
Jourdain
theatre
produces
plays
concerts
and
special
events,
exploring
the
African,
American
and
African
Diaspora
experience,
while
garnering
the
most
diverse
audience
in
the
Chicagoland
theatre.

Keeping
our
older
adult
community
actively
engaged
the
refreshing,
innovative
and
interactive
programming
has
always
been
a
part
of
our
departments:
DNA
physical
fitness,
social
services,
arts,
crafts,
music,
dance
and
language
workshops,
along
with
fantastic
lunch
service
program
at
the
award-winning
levy,
Center
and
fleet,
with
Jordan
Community
Center
continue
to
grow
in
popularity
as
a
significant
part
of
our
community
continues
to
grow
a
little
older.
We
are
also
aware
that
we
are
not
all
on
equal
footing
here
in
Anniston.

We
are
actively
reaffirming
our
mission
and
dedicating
our
resources
to
destroy
the
institutional
barriers
that
prevent
too
many
of
our
residents
from
participating
in
all
of
our
departments.
Programs,
by
offering
free
assistance,
scholarships
complimentary,
beach,
tokens
and
transportation
support
to
all
who
need
them,
promoting
and
maintaining
health
and
wellness,
and
our
community
is
paramount
to
our
departments
overall
mission,
the
new
rubber
crown
Community
Center
and
library,
and
the
newly
renovated
Fleetwood
Jordan
Community
Center
offer
creative
opportunities
to
provide
a
multitude
of
services.

Each
facility
is
unique
and
provides
a
combination
of
traditional
athletic
programs
such
as
hockey
ice
and
rollerskating,
basketball,
soccer
tennis,
baseball,
lacrosse
and
football,
but
these
facilities
also
offer
library,
services,
after-school
youth
services,
state
licensed
childcare,
Welding
studios
art
workshops
and
a
monthly
free
produce
mobile.
We
never
take
for
granted
what
each
member
of
our
community
is
facing.
During
these
challenging
times,
we
have
partnered
with
local
school
districts,
the
Greater
Chicago
food,
dispensary,
age
options,
Northwestern,
University
and
local
grocery
stores
provide
over
7,000
meals
per
month
to
individuals
and
families
in
need
of
support.

The
MSD
ecology
Center
offers
environmental
programs,
including
tours
of
your
four
hive,
apiary
a
community
garden
program,
climate
change,
education
and
advocacy
for
environmental
protection.
Non
partner
partnerships
hosting
joint
pollinator
education
programs
and
certifying
seven
wildlife
habitats
at
our
own
sites
has
helped
Evanston
earn
the
National
Wildlife
Federation's
community
wildlife,
habitat
certification,
the.

City
of
Madison
parks,
recreation
and
Community
Services
Department
commits
each
day
to
servicing
the
people
of
our
community
and
protecting
our
natural
resources,
creating
an
atmosphere
of
safety,
compassion
and
pride
where
everyone
can
enjoy
the
beautiful
shores
of
Lake,
Michigan
and
the
tree
filled,
parks,
experience
the
rich
culture,
art
scene
and,
most
importantly,
caring
for
one
another.
Over
the
past
several
months,
we
have
all
experienced
some
level
of
trauma,
and
we
have
also
learned
that
together,
we
can
make
the
impossible
possible,
through
compassion,
dedication
and
steadfastness
to
make
this
world
a
better
place.
