A
C
C
All
of
us,
your
people
who
know
you
in
many
ways
and
by
many
names,
to
thank
you
for
our
Police
Department's
civilian
employees
and
uniformed
officers,
men
and
women
who
come
to
work
in
our
small
City
to
keep
the
peace
where
it
exists
already
and
to
restore
it.
When
people
go
astray,
we're
grateful
for
their
commitments
to
jobs
that
require
patience,
persistence,
respect,
continual
careful
attention
and
kindness.
C
C
A
Thank
you,
chaplain
Rogers
and,
ladies
and
gentlemen,
before
we
get
started.
If
you
are
a
family
member
of
a
police
officer,
if
you
are
a
spouse,
a
child,
a
son
or
a
daughter,
a
sibling,
a
cousin
or
a
significant
other.
Could
you
please
remain
standing.
A
A
A
Without
you
and
your
love,
we
would
not
be
effective
at
our
jobs.
These
officers
would
not
be
here
getting
the
awards
they're
going
to
receive
tonight,
so
I
just
want
to.
Thank
you
say
that
we
love
you
and-
and
we
appreciate
appreciate
your
support
again,
we
cannot
be
effective
in
our
jobs
without
you.
Thank
you.
You
make
me
see
it.
A
And
lastly,
I
would
like
to
thank
our
phenomenal
officers
and
Detectives
and
I've
said
this
before
and
I'll
say
it
again.
You
all
are
heroes
again,
no
matter
what
the
climate
is,
no
matter,
what
the
sentiment
is,
you
guys
come
out,
you
lace
up
your
boots,
you
go
out
there
and
you
risk
your
life
for
this
community
each
and
every
day.
D
Good
evening
you
know
one
one
cool
thing
about
having
been
mayor
for
more
than
a
year
is
now
I've
done
all
the
annual
events,
at
least
once
and
so
I'm
doing
them
a
second
or
even
third
time,
and
so
I
come
to
them
sort
of
knowing
which
ones
that
I'm
secretly
dreading,
which
you'll
never
find
out,
which
ones
those
are
and
knowing
which
ones
I'm
really
really
excited
about
and
I
have
to
tell
you.
D
This
is
one
of
my
favorites
for
for
the
following
reason:
we
talk
about
police
all
the
time
and
the
abstract,
you
say
all
kinds
of
things
we
hear
negative
things.
Sometimes
we
hear
lots
of
positive
things,
but
there's
sort
of
generic
and
faceless
they
act
like
police
is
sort
of
a
interchangeable
group
of
people
who
all
do
the
same
thing.
All
think.
D
To
hear
that
we
spend
some
time
naming
the
special
and
unique
things
the
individual
members
of
this
department
accomplish
during
the
course
of
the
year,
because
I
think
that's
part
of
making
sure
we
have
a
relationship
between
the
residents
and
the
police
department
that
humanizes
the
police
officers
and
celebrates
them
I.
Also,
just
you
know,
I
was
reading
through
the
description
of
the
awards
this
afternoon
and
it's
pretty
phenomenal.
D
It's
a
pretty
extraordinary
tally
of
Transformations
Community.
It's
a
list
of
lives
saved.
It's
a
list
of
harm
averted.
It's
a
list
of
bad
things
that
could
have
happened
but
didn't,
and
people
who
are
now
well,
who
may
not
have
otherwise
been
well,
and
it's
because
not
only
of
the
remarkable
work
that
you
all
did
that
we're
celebrating
tonight,
but
also
because
of
a
choice
that
you
made
pursuant
to
a
value
system
that
you
have.
D
That
says
that
service
of
others
comes
first,
and
you
know
we
talk
about
that
value
system,
a
lot
but
I'm
not
sure
how
often
we
see
it
in
our
society,
but
we
see
it
in
the
folks
who
chose
to
enter
this
profession
and
serve
others.
So
I
just
want
to
say
thank
you.
I
want
to
say
thank
you
as
somebody
whose
family
benefits
every
day
from
the
safety
that
you
all
provide.
D
I
want
to
say
thank
you
as
the
mayor
of
this
city
and
I
want
to
say
thank
you
as
just
a
human
being
who
sees
people
who
have
chosen
again
and
again
and
again
to
sacrifice
for
the
greater
good
and
set
a
phenomenally
important
example
in
so
doing
so.
Thank
you
very
much
and
I'm
really
looking
forward
to
play
a
little
role
in
expressing
the
community's
appreciation
for
the
great
work
that
you
do.
D
E
Good
evening,
just
want
to
make
a
couple
brief
remarks,
just
once
I
again
welcome
and
thank
you
to
everyone
for
being
here,
especially
family
members
and
loved
ones,
who
we
all
know,
make
tremendous
sacrifices
on
behalf
of
our
great
City.
I
also
want
to
say
how
much
a
city
manager
in
the
last
nine
months
had
just
a
wonderful
insight
into
all
the
work
that
epd
accomplishes
day
in
and
day
out.
I
just
want
to
share
how
proud
I
am
of
each
and
every
one
of
you
both
sworn
and
non-sworn.
Folks.
E
I
also
want
to
share
just
my
deep
appreciation
for
the
dedication,
the
courage
and
professionalism
that
you
carry
out
every
single
day,
especially
these
past
few
years,
there's
been
a
lot
of
changes
at
Evanston,
Police,
Department
and
just
want
to
say
thank
you
for
your
resilience
and
your
patience
and
your
perseverance
through
those
changes
and,
lastly,
I
just
want
to
say
thank
you
to
Chief
Stewart.
Just
it's
been
an
honor
to
work
with
you
over
these
past
seven
months,
while
you've
been
in
this
role.
E
A
In
about
the
last
21
years
since
I've
been
here,
I've
learned
many
lessons
and
I.
Think
one
important
lesson
is
that
there's
this
thing
difference
between
being
a
supervisor
and
a
leader,
a
supervisor
is
one
who
maintains
control.
You
know
one
who
can
hold
a
support
and
is
accountable
one
who
ensure
that
the
guidelines
are
being
followed
and
then
there's
a
leader.
A
And
who
can
communicate
effectively
to
get
any
task
accomplished
and
it
takes
an
extraordinary
individual
to
be
able
to
accomplish
this?
This
delicate
balance
and
we've
been
blessed
with
the
chief
who
does
this
effortlessly
so
we're
very
blessed
to
have
Chief
Stewart
here,
Chief
stool?
Could
you
please
come
forward
and
help
us
present
our
first
round
of
awards?
Please.
A
F
A
Nearly
100
weapons
were
recovered
at
the
police
and
Community
Partnership
event,
and
all
of
the
officers
and
civilians
involved
in
this
achievement
should
be
recognized
for
their
dedication,
their
professionalism
and
perseverance
to
this
important
anti-violence
initiative
for
their
efforts.
We
present
to
each
of
you,
a
unicitation
for
the
members
of
the
community
police
unit
remain
please
I'm.
Sorry.

I'm
not
sure
I'm,
just
gonna
go
ahead
and
announce
the
other
ones.
Detective
Pedro,
Carrasco
I,
don't
know
if
he's
here,
obviously
Sean
Cook
officer,
Carl,
gustafism
and
officer
David
Cherry,
the
Cherry

in.
B
A
And
sorry,
we
have

few
more

the
property
Bureau
foreign
Detective
Mike
Guyer
from
the
Special
Operations
group
and
detective
Kyle
Weidman
from
the
Special
Operations
group.
Kell
is
now
at
a
different
agency
with
the
federal
agency.
So
we
we
trained
him.
Well,
we
trained
him
up
and
we
send
them
off.
So.
Thank
you
guys.
Thank
you
for
your.
A
B
A
A
All
officers
were
instrumental
in
making
this
event
a
success
from
checking
in
participants
obtaining
waivers
spray,
painting,
catalytic
converters
or
the
converters
safety
spotting
to
committee
education
and
engagement.
If
you
folks
didn't
know,
there
is
a
huge
problem
right
now
with
the
theft
of
catalytic
converters
and
it's
not
only
affecting
our
jurisdiction,
but
many
of
our
surrounding
areas,
and
these
officers
are
led
by
the
sergeant
took
initiative
to
to
at
least
try
to
combat
it
in
our
in
our
community.
B

D
B

A
It
is

to
members
who,
through
the
extraordinary
efforts,
have
made
a
significant
impact
upon
the
quality
of
life
in
our
community,
thereby
advancing
the
ideal
encompassed
in
the
meaning
of
partnership
with
Reverend
Dr
Torres,

Mr,

and
