Description
Hollister Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting May 25, 2021
B
C
B
D
Okay,
we're
ready
perfect,
so
it
will
call
the
meeting
to
order
at
6
31
and,
let's
start
with
the
pledge.
D
D
Thank
you
and
verification
of
the
agenda
posting.
C
D
Great
so
let's
approve
the
minutes
from
last
month
april
27th
I'll
motion
to
approve.
D
B
B
F
Good
evening,
I
really
I
don't
have
anything,
that's
not
on
the
agenda.
So
that's
why
I
didn't
raise
my
hand,
but
I
did
want
you
to
know
that
we're
out
here
in
the
world
watching
and
hope
to
speak
with
you.
D
D
D
A
A
C
It
is,
it
is
typical
and
other
types
of
policies
that
we
read
that
I
read
through
yes,
but
it's
this
is,
you
know
the
city
of
hollister's
policies,
so
it
if
you
would
like
to
recommend
it
to
be
changed,
then
it
you
can,
but
it
is
a
common.
It.
A
G
D
Perfect
so
then,
I'm
going
motion
to
approve.
D
Perfect,
so
we're
going
to
move,
and
I
would
like
to
have
a
motion
to
approve
we're
going
to
do
a
roll
call
vote
again.
C
Roll
call
vote
chair,
graziano.
D
G
C
I
went
ahead
and
left
this
on
the
agenda
in
case
our
commissioners
had
any
questions
regarding
the
proposal
from
growing
hearts,
but
with
the
adopt
a
park,
that's
under
new
business
under
section
one.
This
can
kind
of
answer
some
of
these
questions,
so
I'm
just
going
to
leave
it
open.
If,
if
any
of
our
commission
had
questions
to
growing
hart's
proposal,.
D
D
H
Hello,
thank
you
guys
for
offering
the
opportunity
for
us
to
talk
about
what
we're
doing
up
here
at
park
hill.
H
You
know
we
started
in
the
community
garden
in
2018
and
since
then,
we've
been
able
to
expand
the
you
know
the
imp
of
our
community
beautification
stuff
to
the
different
areas
of
the
of
park
hill
and
and
we
we
plan
to
continue
that
our
ladies
endeavor
was
to
take
over
a
homeless
encampment
here
on
on
park
hill
and
turn
it
into
somewhat
of
an
extension
of
the
community
garden,
and
you
know
I
I
just
would
would
love
for
the
the
parks
council
to
you
know,
get
behind
us
and
support
the
you
know
our
effort
to
to
beautify
park
hill,
because
you
know
it's
so
beautiful,
there's
so
many
views
on
every
side
and
it
gets
forgotten
about
and
at
the
same
time
it's
it's
a
community
asset
because
it's
so
close
to
downtown
and
it
could
connect
walking
and
biking
trails
that
are,
you
know,
important
to
the
value
of
a
community
when
people
want
you
know
to
move
their
families
here
or
their
you
know,
raise
their
children
in
our
community.
D
D
C
Staff
has
been
working
on
a
ribbon
cutting
event
and
it
is
scheduled
for
saturday
june
12th
at
10
am,
and
it's
at
the
the
dog
park
near
the
airport
and
to
follow
will
be
in
a
flyer
that
I'm
going
to
send
out
and
we
just
kind
of
waited
for
a
little
bit,
because
one
of
our
volunteers
is
working
on
some
vendors
and
her
goal
is
to
have
25
vendors
and
she
has
nine,
but
I
still
needed
to
get
the
flyer
out.
So
what
we'll
do
is
I'll
email
it
to
the
commission
tomorrow?
C
June
12th
at
10
a.m.
We
were
able
to
purchase
some
some
fun
equipment
out
there
benches
and
and
lots
of
different
type
of
amenities
for
our
dogs
in
the
out
in
the
parks.
D
C
It
is
a
gutted
old
fire
hydrant
that
our
utilities
staff,
one
of
we-
have
two
creative
staff
over
there
and
they
decided
to
paint
it
and,
as
you
get
closer,
you'll
see
a
cute
little
dog
named
bella
on
there.
So.
D
Okay,
awesome:
do
we
have
a
any
public
comment
on
our
dog
park
ribbon
cutting
event.
F
Did
you
do
you
have
the
date
set
for
the
dog
ribbon,
cutting
did
I
miss
june
or
that
june
12th
june
12th,
okay,
and
perhaps,
if
there's
flyers
or
something
or
some
sort
of
that
they
could
go
on
brigantino
and
clower
park
where
people
take
their
dogs
regularly,
maybe
even
up
here
on
park
hill,
there's
lots
of
dog,
walkers
or
dog
people,
and-
and
I
think
you'll
probably
have
better
luck
attracting
those
dog
walkers.
F
If
you
go
to
them
as
opposed,
I
mean
not
that
social
media
won't
help,
but
I
think
a
lot
of
them
are
already
using
a
lot
of
other
parts
and
it
would
be
nice
to
shepherd
them
down
to
the
airport.
Once
again.
Thank
you.
E
G
D
D
I
think
it's
silent
okay.
So,
let's
let's
move
on
to
dun
park
and
it
might
be.
E
Staff
had
sent
me
over
a
quote
for
to
approve
for
the
repainting
of
the
pickleball
courts
and
that
got
approved,
so
that
should
be,
hopefully
here
real
within
the
next
couple
weeks
of
new
lines
painted
on
the
court
for
them
to
play.
Pickleball.
Oh.
E
C
At
this
time
we
don't
have
an
update
okay
on
on
the
restrooms
last
we
heard
they
were
being
installed,
but
that
was
last
week.
B
We
have
both
rob
rodriguez,
go
ahead.
H
F
That's
what
I
was
gonna,
I
was
gonna,
let
you
know
that
they
pulled
out
all
the
junipers
and
all
the
hidey
holes,
and
now
you,
when
you,
when
you
go
into
the
park,
you
can
see
all
the
way
across
the
playground.
So
it's
real.
It's
really
going
to
be
nice
once
the.
If
the
bathrooms
are
open,
I
haven't
gone
and
checked
them
out,
but
how
they
cleaned
up.
Really
it
made
it
look
nice.
C
D
C
Events,
so
look
first,
we'll
meet
as
as
art
and
culture,
commissioners
that
they
will
meet
first
and
then
I'll
inform
them
of
parks
and
recreation.
Commissioner's
inten
request.
A
D
Okay,
we're
gonna
move
on
to
new
business,
we're
gonna
talk
about
adopt
a
park,
trail
or
landscape
program
staff
is
seeking
recommendation
to
move
the
policy
forward
for
city
council
approval,
so
you
should
have
got
a
packet
perfect,
so
we're
gonna.
Do
a
roll
call
vote
for
to
move
motion?
F
Yes,
I
I
read
over
the
information
that
tina
sent
with
the
link,
and
so
I'm
I'm
curious
how
this
is
going
to
work
with
regards
to
the
community
garden
in
that
in
2000.
The
city
council
gave
me
permission
to
start
the
community
garden
that
and
and
a
map
of
the
boundaries
that
I
have
on
on
that
southwest
corner
the
the
original
garden,
and
so
I
have
all
of
my
gardeners
that
come
they
sign
an
they
have
rule.
We
have
rules
and
regulations
and
it
tells
them.
F
You
know
you
can't
leave
the
water
on,
and
you
know,
there's
there's
about
15
rules
and
I
have
them
sign
a
release
of
liability
for
the
city
and
the
garden
group
overall.
So
I'm
I'm
curious
how
this
is
going
to
work.
F
Let's
say
I
fill
out
your
new
form
or
do
I
have
my
new
garden
or
have
my
gardeners
go
down
and
sign
up
through
the
parks
and
rack?
So
that
was
my
question.
I'm
I
mean
I
I'm
more
than
happy
to
sign
whatever
you'd
like
me
to
sign
to
keep
the
garden
going.
I'm
just
not
sure
how
how
the
change
is
going
to
be
or
what
changes
we
need
to
make.
I
guess.
D
Okay,
I
think
tina
can
answer
that,
but
I
believe
this
is.
This
will
be
nice
to
move
to
assist
you
in
in
doing
this
robin,
but
tina
can
answer
this.
C
Yes,
this
is
the
the
idea
behind.
This
is
kind
of
like
what
robin
has
been
doing
for
the
past
20
years,
but
now
there's
just
a
formal
process,
and
you
know
it
within
the
the
policy.
It
is
a
first
come
first
serve
robin,
as
you
know,
you're
very
active.
When
it
comes
to
our
parks,
you're
you're,
aware
that
once
approved
by
council,
then
then
you
would
be
able
to
apply
so
it
all.
We're
asking
is
that
you
come
into
the
office
pick.
C
You
know,
pick
up
the
form
and
sign
all
the
documents
as
far
as
the
other
groups,
if
you
guys
want
to
call
the
community
what
is
it
called
right
now,
community
garden
group,
then
you
guys
would
all
fall
under
that
that
group
and
everyone
kind
of
signs
it
and
you
being
the
stewardess
stewardship
out
there,
who's
been
leading
the
way
a
little
bit.
You
know,
that's
all
open
for
discussion
too.
C
F
Okay,
so
my
gardeners
aren't
gonna,
have
to
go
down
and
sign
something
I
will
take
owner's
ownership
or
whatever
you
wanna
call
it
of
of
the
existing
garden
that
I
have
and
then
I
I
will
still
have
my
gardener
sign.
The
piece
of
paper
that
they
sign
with
me
is
that
what
we're
saying
I
I
realized
growing
hearts.
We
probably
should
call
it
growing
hearts,
community
garden.
The
growing
hearts
is
beyond
my
boundaries
that
I
was
approved
to
have
the
community
garden.
F
I
I
have
encouraged
them
to
expand
the
garden,
although
I'm
not
in
charge
of
it.
So
I
guess
I
just
I
at
some
point.
Maybe
some
claire,
you
know
once
the
city
council
approves
it,
maybe
we
can
figure.
Do
we
just
keep
it
the
same
way
or
do
you
want
me
to
send
him
down
there?
So
that's
that's
all
I
want
to
know.
Thank
you.
D
D
No
more
comments.
Okay,
so
do
we
have
a
motion
to
approve
the
adopt
a
park,
trail
or
landscape
program.
A
D
C
Yes,
I
just
wanted
to
go
ahead
and
give
our
commission
an
update
on
some
facility,
the
rentals
at
the
community
center
and
dunn
park.
Lately,
the
the
community
has
been
calling
and
asking
to
rent
the
san
benito
room,
which
is
mainly
used
for
big
type
of
special
events,
weddings
and
quinceaneras
and
50th
anniversaries
and
so
forth.
At
this
moment
that,
even
when
june
15th
comes
around,
the
community
center
will
not
be
open
to
the
public
for
private
events,
but
we
will
allow
some
meetings
in
our
gabilan
room
and
then
at
dunn
park.
C
That's
our
other
rental
that
will.
We
will
only
allow
a
renter
to
rent
the
building
once
a
week,
either
a
saturday
or
a
sunday,
because
our
day
camp
program
will
be
in
there
monday
through
friday.
Okay,
I
just
in
case
anyone
asks
you
guys
and
kind
of
what
the
update
update
is.
We
did
receive
some
information
on
opening
up
an
events
if,
if
you
know
vaccinated
they're
allowed
to
go
into
the
building
mass
unmask,
but
we
have
we
don't
really
have
a
policy.
C
So
we
don't
we're
not
set
up
right
now
to
determine
who's
vaccinated
who's,
not.
D
Okay,
fair
enough,
would
I
don't
believe
I
need
to
open
up
for
public.
Do
I
need
to
open
that
up
for
a
public
comment?
Okay,
all
right!
Let's
open
that
up
for
public.
D
D
C
Just
some
some
background
information
lately,
as
you
guys
know,
we've
been
working
on
the
dog
park
project
and
the
opening
of
the
park,
and
we
have
a
lot
of
the
community
members
that
are
very
anxious
and
want
to
be
involved
and
they
wanted
to
create
their
own
dog
park
commission.
C
But
we
already
have
our
parks
and
recreation
commission.
So
I
suggested
we
form
an
ad
hoc
committee,
so
they
thought
that
was
a
good
start
and
now
they're
kind
of
seeking
two
parks
and
recreation
commissioners
to
be
a
part
of
this
ad
hoc
committee,
and
then
they
will
meet
with
recreation
staff
and
then,
if
it,
if
they
would
like,
we
can
have
a
public,
a
public
meeting
and
invite
the
rest
of
the
the
members
that
are
interested
in
dog
parks.
Yes,.
D
Is
there
any
commissioners.
A
C
D
I
am
all
in
unless
someone
else
wants
to
do
it
because
a
side
note
is,
I
do
not
own
a
dog
right
now,
so
it
seems
kind
of
silly,
but
I
am
a
dog
lover
and
I've
had
a
dog
forever.
My
dog
is
just
not
here
anymore,.
D
They're
off
having
fun
together
there
we
go
so
the
two
commissioners:
do
you
have
any
interest.
C
Okay,
we
have
chair
graziano
and
vice
chuck
weissman
that
will
represent
the
dog
park
ad
hoc
committee.
D
G
Hi
this
is
grizzle.
I
I
do
or
I
have
more
of
a
question-
slash
comments,
okay
regarding
mccarthy
park,
so
I
think
a
while
back.
It
was
mentioned
that
we
were
going
to
or
that
the
city
was
going
to
add
cameras,
I
think
or
lighting
to
mccarthy
park.
I
can't
remember,
but
someone
from
district
1
was
mentioning
to
me
that
they
would
like
to
see
more
lighting
at
mccarthy
park.
E
D
A
I
just
wanted
to
say
that
I
attended,
then
I
think
you
did
too.
We
attended
the
ribbon
cutting
for
the
trail
opening
nice
event.
It
really.
C
I'll
give
a
quick
report
on
recreation
we're
starting
up
a
lot
of
our
summer
programs.
We
have
a
day
camp,
that's
going
to
begin
june,
14th
monday
through
friday,
from
9
to
12.
it's
a
half
day
camp
every
day,
and
then
we
end
august
6th.
C
We
have
july
as
parks
and
recreation
month.
So
on
mondays
and
wednesdays
we
have,
we
will
have
even
either
an
art
project
or
a
science
project
at
one
of
the
parks
and
we've
partnered
with
san
benito
art
council-
and
I
don't
know
if
I'm
saying
it
right:
cantu
cantu,
canti,
it's
a
new
performing
arts
program
in
hollister
and
it's
it's
a
spanish
name.
So
I
don't
that's
why
I
don't
know
if
I'm
saying
it
right,
I
apologize.
C
If
I
miss
that
up
and
then
we
also
part
are
partnering
with
a
plus
tutoring
for
our
science
in
the
park.
Liz
markfield
is
really
excited.
She's
worked
with
us
the
past
two
years,
so
this
is
her.
No.
She
didn't
work
with
us
last
year
so,
prior
to
that,
so
she's
really
excited
and
she
has
all
of
her
projects
ready
to
go
and
what
else
are
we
doing
june
12th?
Is
our
dog
park
event?
C
Commissioners,
please
if
you'd
like
to
attend,
let
me
know
so
that
I
can
remember
to
announce
you
guys
there
and
please
wear
your
gray
polo
shirts.
I
think
aaliyah
may
need
a
shirt
so
we're
in
the
process
of
ordering
her
one,
but
just
a
just
a
quick
email
or
when
you
arrive.
Let
me
know
that
that
you're
here
so
I
can
remember
to
announce
you.
C
Our
junior
giants
program
is
quickly.
Opening
up
registration
will
end
tomorrow.
So
far
we
have
a
little
over
300
children
enrolled,
which
was
our
goal.
We
knew
that
you
know.
Typically,
we
enroll
around
600
children,
but
with
you
know,
we
I
think.
A
month
ago
we
got
the
word
out,
so
we've
just
been
working
pretty
diligently
with
san
juan
school
district,
the
hollister
school
district
and
just
trying
to
get
information
out
to
the
public.
C
So
there's
junior
giants,
who
are
starting
an
outdoor
youth,
volleyball
league
and
they'll
play
at
mccarthy
park.
So
it's
something
different
for
us
pretty
exciting,
but
we
have
to
adjust
to
and
then
of
course,
our
recreation,
our
annual
recreation
run
is
july.
24Th
and
it'll
be
an
exciting
run
where
you
have
a
a
route
set
to
run
on
the
river
park
trail.
The
new
river
park
trail
yeah,
and
it
ends
up
the
route
we
chose
it's
a
5k
and
so
and
you're
running
along
the
trail.
C
So
it'll
be
nice,
so
lots
of
things
that
are
coming
up
and
we'll
be
sending
our
commissioners
all
the
information.
D
C
With
henry
on
vacation,
we
there
we
don't,
have
a
report.
