From YouTube: 2018 District 2 Picnic and Chili Cook-Off
Description
The District 2 Picnic and Chili Cook-Off has become a signature event given by District 2 Councilman Alex Padilla. This year marks the 5th Annual event, and was one to remember!
Each year, some of the best Chili chefs in Inglewood come together to put their skills to the test, to see who is the best chili cook in Inglewood.
C
Hello:
everyone,
my
name,
is
Alex
Padilla
I'm,
the
councilman
here
in
district
2
in
the
city
of
Englewood
and
I
want
to
take
this
opportunity
to
showcase
my
fifth
annual
district
to
picnic
and
chili
cook-off.
This
is
a
tremendous
community
event,
as
you
can
see,
with
all
the
families
the
children
everybody's
here
to
celebrate
the
good
things
happening
in
the
city
of
Inglewood.
We
also
have
the
best
chili
cook-off
contest
going
on
all
the
chili
is
made
by
residents
here
in
the
city
of
Inglewood,
and
so
we
have
a
great
day
planned
for
everyone.
D
Like
this
bring
folks
together
allows
neighbors
to
interact
with
neighbors,
allow
them
to
meet
their
elected
officials.
There
commissioners
allows
kids
to
come
out
and
enjoy
a
community.
So
look
at
this
Park
look
at
this
tremendous
turnout
and
you
know
it
brings
folks
together.
You
get
to
know
each
other
as
the
years.
E
Have
gone
by
we've
gone
from
trying
to
figure
out
how
we're
gonna
make
it
year
to
year
to
improving
the
total
quality
of
life
in
England
and
events
like
this
one,
the
Hispanic
Heritage
Festival,
the
Martin
Luther
King
Day,
their
celebration
of
community
and
the
ties
that
bind
us
together
as
opposed
to
the
divisions
that
try
to
tear
us
apart
and
that's
what
this
does.
If
you
look
all
of
us
are
here,
all
of
us
are
represented,
and
all
of
us
are
having
a
great
time
whenever.
F
You
can
touch
base
with
the
residents
at
a
picnic
or
something
positive,
there's
free
conversation
going
back
and
forth,
but
aside
from
that,
they
get
to
converse
with
each
other
and
if
it
starts
to
define
the
area
where
your
kid
growing
up
it
starts
to
define
how
we
want
to
see
it,
because
this
is
what
we
want
to
see
in
our
parks.
It
defines
safety,
it
defines
environment,
it
defines
who
we
are
and
as
long
as
we
keep
doing
these
events,
that's
what's
gonna
separate
us
from
anywhere
else.
These.
G
Types
of
events
are
very
good
to
bring
the
community
together.
Know
we
stay
in
it.
Where
you
go
to
work,
we
come
home,
we
go
to
work
and
come
home
and
we
don't
get
to
really
socialize
like
we
used
to
when
I
was
growing
up
in
South
Englewood,
so
I
grew
up
on
117
Yukon
near
Morningside
high
school.
So
this
has
been
really
really
wonderful
to
come
to
these
events
so
that
we
can
socialize
and
get
to
know
each
other
better,
alex.
H
Has
put
together
a
phenomenal
event
year
over
year,
just
keeps
getting
better
a
great
opportunity
for
the
community
to
come
together
and
to
be
a
part
of
it
as
a
judge
and
then
see
the
excitement
in
the
in
the
in
the
chefs
faces
as
they're
getting
the
prizes.
You
know
it's
very
exciting
to
us,
and
really
a
community
event
is,
is
what
really
makes
this
pink
pop.
So
I
was
excited
to
be
a
judge.
I'm
excited
for
the
winners
that
the
top
three
winners
and
overall
had
a
really
good
time.
J
There's
my
first
wins:
first
place:
I'm
gonna,
cook,
chili,
cook-off
I've
been
into
this
thing
for
four
years,
and
this
is
a
great.
This
is
a
really
great
surprise
for
me:
I
ready
to
expect
guys
gonna
win
a
bigger
most
everybody
likes
a
hot
spicy,
chili
and
mine's
a
sweet
chili.
You
don't
expect
a
sweet.
Chili
do
good,
but
all
of
a
sudden
here
it
is
first
place.
