Description

This year in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the City of Inglewood recognizes the Hernandez family and owners of La Michoacana Ricas Nieves, an authentic Mexican style ice cream and snack shop located in the City of Inglewood.

Founded by Jesus Hernandez in 2016, La Michoacana has quickly become one of Inglewood's most popular ice cream shops.

Jesus grew up in Mexico and worked as an ice cream maker alongside his father who taught him the trade. After moving to California and sustaining a career in the construction industry, Jesus' wife Maria, and other family members encouraged him to open his own ice cream store.

It was such a pleasure to tell this story of this amazing family, and we are proud to share with the rest of the community.

Originally from Mexico the state of Michoacan and growing up, my dad helped his dad my grandfather make and sell ice cream in our hometown in the canal. You know.

When I come in here to the California, we started working in different places in the constitutional area. They don't have a restaurant hominy. That's all my family told me, that's why you know open the ice cream shop. You know the Mexican style. My wife is very happy. You know when it style I want my daughter and I like it. You know the the all the flavors of the style, Mexican style, American style, Capitol, Hill, doing legal there. He.

Was young he had to get in his dad's van and go sell ice cream and he would drive all the way to a different little town just to see my mom and that's how he met my mom. So he, whether he sold any ice cream or not, he always got to go drive down there and sell or offer the kids him there the ice cream. And if he came back empty-handed, then he came back and empty-handed. But that's where he met my beautiful mother. Everything is made from scratch.

Most of our ice cream and popsicles or fruit bars are made from fresh fruit. The guys in the back. You know top everything up and back at home in Mexico same same taste, you can taste the difference. We all live here in Inglewood, so when I'm driving by and I want to stop by for an ice cream or something I see the line, all the way out and I'll be honest, I don't cut in line so I I mean the line is great. It makes me feel good.

We like seeing the nonstop flow of people, so we appreciate the community. So much I grew up in a book. So did my brothers we've seen the changes and it's going through and how much it's growing and we absolutely love it and all we look for is to grow along with it. For.
