Happy
New
Year
everybody
how
you
doing
today.
My
name
is
Derek
Steele
Inc
were
resident
here
on
behalf
of
the
finger
would
here
to
talk
about
the
housing
issue,
as
we
saw
over
the
break.
This
thing
got
real.
The
things
we've
been
talking
about
over
the
last
couple
years
we
saw
is
happening
in
real
life.
People
are
getting
price,
gouge
and
I
want
to
extend
a
you
know,
good
good
on
you
for
mayor,
butts
and
that's
and
how
he
went
about
helping
to
solve
that
solution.
K
20%
is
still
kind
of
steep,
but
it's
better
than
hundred
twenty
seven
percent
right.
What
we
need
to
do,
though,
because
he
talked
about
it-
we've
been
talking
about
it.
Rent
control,
a
rent,
stabilization,
just
cause
eviction
is
something
that
we
need
to
really
discuss.
You
know
we
have
workshop
this
thing.
We've
talked
about
it
with
community
members.
I
wanted
to
give
this
to
you
all,
so
you
can
see
what
we
came
up
with
it's.
What
we
were
petitioning
about.
We
have
the
solution,
a
community
solution,
let's
just
implement
it,.
D
L
Friends
and
family,
we're
renters
here
in
Englewood
and
their
rents
have
accelerated
rate,
and
it's
very
concerning
because,
even
though
my
parents
are
homeowners,
I
still
have
a
lot
of
my
friends,
friends
and
family
who
are
renters
here
and
I
want
them
to
continue
living
here.
I
currently
go
to
school
in
San
Diego,
I'm
gonna
graduate
soon
I
want
to
be
able
to
still
live
here
and
get
a
place
of
my
own
and
rent
here
in
the
city
about
basically
basically
grew
up
and
and
and
I
know,
I
won't
be
able
to.
L
L
L
M
M
N
Afternoon,
ladies
and
gentlemen
of
Inglewood,
really
I
just
wanted
to
address.
First
of
all,
happy
New
Year
to
everyone.
I
want
to
congratulate
the
people
of
Inglewood
I
want
to
congratulate
Inglewood
for
making
it
pastor
to
see
2019,
to
bring
the
Rams
here
to
bring
so
much
of
revenue
and
excitement
to
Inglewood
I
go
to
the
playoffs.
N
However,
I
want
us
to
also
if
we
can,
in
light
of
the
presidential
influence
that
we
have
today
and
the
lack
of
seeing
humanity
to
care
enough
to
invest
in
humanity,
I'm
asking
the
people
of
Inglewood.
If
now
that
we
know
we
can
build
new
stadiums,
if
we
can
also
now
invest
in
the
reality
of
real
people
and
because
they
still
need
us,
because
Donald
Trump
with
all
y'all
gone
may
be
mostly
all
from
shiho
countries
and
the
other
half
are
rapists.
Don't
forget
that?
N
O
Hi,
my
name
is
Cynthia
Guardado
and
I'm,
a
professor
at
Fullerton
College,
and
was
born
and
raised
here
in
Inglewood
I,
just
recently
moved
back
and
I'm
paying
eighteen
hundred
dollars
for
where
I
live
and
since
I've
been
there,
it's
been
rent
increases
to
all
the
people.
Who've
been
living
there
and
I've
only
been
there
three
months
and
six
units
have
been
turned
over
while
I've
been
there.
O
So
that's
the
reality
that
we're
in
we're
also
I
think
that
gentrification
is
a
real
thing
and
if
we
don't
do
something
to
stabilize,
then
this
community
is
no
longer
gonna.
Look
like
the
community.
I
grew
up
in.
It's
not
gonna,
represent
us
and
there's
anybody
no
space
for
me
here,
because
I
clearly
can't
afford
a
house
in
Inglewood,
even
on
a
professor
salary
and
I'm
tenure-track,
so
I'm
in
a
little
bit,
I'm,
not
even
gonna,
be
able
to
afford
an
apartment
here.
O
P
Q
R
Live
on
South
Osage,
Avenue
I've
been
there
for
almost
three
years.
I
realized
that
we're
here
today
in
light
of
a
very
big
rent
increase
of
a
hundred
percent
or
more
that
made
headlines
and
that's
very
dramatic.
We
hear
that
when
we
think
oh,
those
people
have
to
leave,
but
I've
already
been
seeing
it
in
my
building.
First
event:
increases
were
80
every
year,
but
now
with
the
stadium
coming
in,
they
are
two
hundred
and
fifty
dollars
or
more
and
with
the
two
hundred
and
fifty
dollar
event
increase.
R
T
T
I'm,
here
speaking
on
behalf
of
two
latino
mothers
who
weren't
able
to
come
up
here
today,
they
felt
that
nine
stories
up
was
way
too
far,
afraid
of
heights
and
I
think
bigger
than
that
they're.
More
afraid
of
the
fact
that
their
rent
is
uncontrolled
to
be
being
increased.
She
lives
in
an
apartment,
paying
$1,600
a
broken
toilet
for
over
six
months.
U
Hi,
my
name
is
estefany
Kazan
yada
I'm,
the
Centinela
Valley
Union
High
School,
District
Board
member
trustee
number,
five
representing
both
parts
of
Lenox
and
parts
of
Englewood,
which
are
part
of
my
constituency,
those
high
school
students
and
families
that
are
affected
by
these
rent
increases
increases
and
a
lack
of
rent
control
and
I'm
here
to
say,
I'm
as
a
Lennox
resident.
What
I
am
seeing
in
the
unincorporated
area?
U
I
am
a
part
of
is
MIT
at
the
very
least
taking
action
and
giving
the
proper
rent
control
policies
that
have
long
been
offered
overdue
for
these
unincorporated
areas
and
at
the
very
least,
given
the
vote
that
Englewood
had
for
prop
10
and
the
overdevelopment
that
is
going
on
in
the
area.
The
residents
deserve
proper
rent
control
and
proper
rent
ordinances.
D
V
D
V
V
Like
to
add,
and
just
make
sure
you
two
are
aware
that
the
Seminole
County
Sheriff
employees
benefit
Association
versus
County
and
San
Bernardino,
they
were
denied
their
requests
to
get
a
stay
to
deny
retroactive
implementation
of
SB
1420.
One
I
want
to
make
sure
you
are
aware
of
that.
Are
you
aware
that
and.
W
W
We
were
the
105
freeway
on
the
Dominguez
Hills
canal,
they've
already
pulled
them
out
four
or
five
times
I'm
coming
back.
We
have
nobody
to
speak
to.
We
call
city
Bing
or
what
all
they
do
is
come
into
our
property
and
kind
of
confront
them.
The
people
behind
there
and
unfortunately
trying
to
see
here
that
all
these
people
here
or
may
become
homeless,
and
they
may
cause
some
of
this
issues
that
I
hope
not,
but
that
may
be
a
problem
that
may
cause,
but
anyway
we
need
help
a
phone
number
that
we
can
call.
W
D
D
X
Good
afternoon
mayor
members
of
the
City
Council
and
the
public
I'm,
the
Reverend
Francisco
Garcia,
the
rector
at
holy
faith,
Episcopal
Church
here
in
Inglewood
California,
and
we
are
an
anchor
organization
as
part
of
the
uplift
Englewood
coalition,
and
so
we
greatly
appreciate
the
interest
that
you've
expressed
mayor
over
these
concerns
of
rising
rents,
and
we
hope
that
it's
the
beginning
of
a
real
dialogue
with
the
community
about
what
is
so
urgently
needed.
We
believe
that
28%
is
still
too
high.
X
We
proposed
a
comprehensive
tenant
protection
solution
through
a
rent
ordinance
and
there
were
thousands
of
signatures
gathered
through
that
effort.
So
we
would
ask
that
you
work
with
your
community
with
members
of
the
uplift
Englewood
coalition
with
renters,
who
have
expressed
their
concern
of
displacement
to
pass
the
most
comprehensive
tenant
protections
policy
it
possible
in
the
city
so
that
the
city
rep
relieve
here
can
also
thrive
along
with
the
economic
development
of
the
city.
And
so
we
thank
you
and
we
urge
you
to
do
this.
Thank
you.
Q
Y
Like
some
of
my
friends
from
Fairfax
have
actually
not
had
a
place
to
live
after
graduating
high
school,
because
it's
like
we're
18
I
was
like:
where
did
we
go?
We
can't
go,
live
with
our
grandma
or
whoever,
and
it's
like
some
of
our
friends
are
homeless
now,
because
they
don't
have
a
place
to
live,
so
we
just
urge
rent
control
in
the
city.
Thank
you.
A
Y
Z
Hi,
my
name
is
Arianna
and
both
my
grandparents,
my
great-grandparents,
have
been
living
here
since
the
1960s
and
I'm
scared
of
what
the
next
few
years,
when
I
decide
to
move
out,
that
I
won't
have
somewhere
to
stay.
I
won't
be
able
to
rent
an
apartment.
I
won't
be
able
to
rent
out
of
someone's
home
because
there
is
no
rent
control
in
Englewood
I
love.
Z
D
AA
D
AA
50%
increase,
but
this
issue
was
widespread
as
you've
heard
today.
A
lot
of
people
are
experiencing
is
not
just
in
particular,
rental
properties
and
waiting
for
viral
tweets
is
no
way
to
make
policy
and
we
can't
ask
our
mayor
to
negotiate
every
single
high
incomes
across
the
city.
We
need
a
comprehensive
policy.
We
need
rent
control
policy
that
allows
a
fair
return
for
landlords.
What
protects
against
unjust
rent
increases
and
unfair
evictions
mayor,
but
you
mentioned
Santa
Monica
and
how
the
rent
is
70%
higher.
D
I
mention
Santa
Monica's
young
lady
mentioned
the
Santa
Monica
Trent
control.
The
point
I
was
making
his
in
rent
control,
there's
no
guarantee
that
you
will
one
day
not
be
priced
out
of
the
rental
market
and
have
to
make
other
accommodations.
The
average
unit
in
Santa
Monica
equivalent
to
anchor
would
cost
75%
more
and
they've
had
rent
control
since
1988.
So
that
was
the
only
point.
I
was
making
I
wasn't
referencing
Santa
Monica
she
referenced
it.
So
that
was
why
I
was
making
the
point.
But
now
you
have
13
seconds:
go
ahead
totally.
AA
Understand
but
the
income
in
Santa
Monica
is
a
lot
higher
than
that
and
then
income
in
Inglewood,
if
you're
talking
about
the
average
household
an
average
resident
and
if
we
continue
on
the
path
that
we
were
going
where
polybius
hi
Santa
Monica.
So
let's
be
champions
for
the
city,
and
let's
do
something
about
that.
Thank
you
for
your
time
and
on
that
we
agree.
What
was
your
name
again,
sir
Hendrix
uplifting
global
coalition.
AA
AB
AB
And
city
council,
my
name
is
April
Hooper
and
I'm.
A
homeowner
and
I
have
lived
in
Englewood
for
almost
eight
years.
I'm
here
in
support
of
rent
stabilization
and
with
uplift
Englewood
may
have
seen
me
lurking
around
city
council
meetings,
block
captain
meetings
and
other
events,
but
this
is
the
first
time
I'm
speaking
publicly
to
you.
AB
I
wanted
to
wait
until
there
was
an
issue
that
I
felt
strongly
about
before
speaking
publicly
and
I
also
wanted
to
learn
what
the
local
issues
are
in
Englewood,
before
making
any
opinions
about
them
and
I'm
speaking
to
you
today,
because
rent
stabilization
is
an
issue
that
I'm
passionate
about
I'm,
really
glad
that
our
home
value
has
almost
doubled
in
the
last
eight
years.
But
I
think
that
it's
more
important
that
we
protect
the
people
who
have
lived
here
their
whole
lives
than
to
worry
about
my
home
value
and
I.
AB
M
They
live
and
work
at
Englewood.
Our
members
are
confronted
with
the
housing
crisis
on
a
daily
basis.
Englewood
clearly
needs
a
comprehensive
tenant
protection
policy
and
Inglot
residents
have
made
this
known.
More
than
10,000
residents
signed
a
petition
in
favor
of
local
rent
control
and
Englewood.
Voters
supported
rent
control
protections
through
prop
10,
at
a
rate
higher
than
anywhere
else
in
LA
County.
We
need
real
rent
control
that
supports
a
longtime
Englewood
residents,
not
displacement
in
the
city.
We
look
forward
to
working
with
you
on
an
ordinance
and
in
your
future.
Thank
you.
AC
Sean
Louis
and
I
am
a
member
inghel
parent
that
grew
up
in
Englewood
I
work
for
a
very
well-known
entertainment
company
in
Culver,
City
and
I'm
here
today
to
urge
the
city
to
implement
a
rent
stabilization
ordinance
because
the
resident
the
$1500
increase
was
not
alone.
Our
butts
I
did
reach
out
to
you
before
the
election,
I
emailed
you
and
I
never
heard
back.
I
personally
experienced
a
one
thousand
dollar
rent
increased
here
in
after
a
corporation
called
global
integrity,
our
building
in
2016.
They
increased
it
between
fifty
to
seventy
six
percent.
D
AC
To
Venice
way
to
seven,
oh
four
and
seven
forty,
it
gave
me
and
my
fellow
neighbors
the
option
of
either
renewing
the
lease
for
one
month
for
a
thousand
dollars
or
renewing
for
12
months,
with
still
the
astronomical
increase
of
eight
hundred
plus
a
one.
A
fifty
dollar
per
pet
pet
rent
I
was
able
unable
to
afford
either
and
want
the
help
of
uplifting.
What
today,
I'm
still
fighting
to
remain
in
my
home,
you're.
D
C
D
AC
E
D
What
I
said
specifically
was
that
I
was
not
gonna.
Let
out
company
from
outside
of
Englewood
come
in
and
clear
out
and
clear
out
apartments,
and
that's
why
I
let
you
go
over
because
I
want
you
to
leave
your
phone
number
with
I
in
the
city,
manager's
executive
assistant,
Melanie,
McDade,
she's,
standing
right
behind
you
all
right.
AD
Afternoon,
I
sort
of
want
to
reiterate
something.
Jelani
had
said
earlier,
although
I'm
really
proud
that
our
mayor
is
addressing
this
issue
of
rent
control
and
in
specific
cases,
I
think
the
problem
itself
is
much
larger
than
our
mayor
alone
can
handle,
because
we're
talking
about
an
issue
that
citywide
my
name
is
mama.
AD
True,
I
work
for
la
Canne
in
Los,
Angeles
I
get
the
people
in
my
office
that
have
been
evicted
from
their
apartments
because
of
rent
control
because
of
lack
of
rent
control
and
I
can
guarantee
you
that
the
people
in
Santa
Monica
that
work
have
75%
more
or
not.
The
people
who
originally
came
in
underwent,
rent
control,
so
I
would
urge
you
to
put
together
a
pan
or
a
of
Oversight
Committee
that
can
address
this
problem
citywide.
Thank
you.
Thank.
AE
Afternoon,
mr.
mayor
and
members
of
the
City
Council
I'm
Reverend,
dr.
Harold
Lee
Kidd
I'm,
pastor
of
the
First
Presbyterian
Church
of
in
Englewood
I've
lived
in
Englewood
for
17
years,
I'm,
so
close
to
the
church
that
I
can
walk
to
the
church.
We
just
came
out
for
the
Christian
Judeo
Christian
community
came
out
of
the
Christmas
season
and
the
nativity
scene
speaks
of
because
there
was
no
room
for
the
Christ
in
the
end
that
Jesus
was
born
in
a
stable.
Well,
if
you
do
the
exegesis
on
that,
it
probably
wasn't
a
stable.
AE
He
was
probably
born
in
a
cave
and
I
used
that
to
say
that
we
are
seeing.
I
am
seeing
more
and
more
persons
affected
by
displacement,
because
we
don't
have
a
rich
stabilization
ordinance
in
place.
I
want
to
commend
you
for
your
economic
Renaissance
of
the
city,
but
we
really
do
need
to
come
forward
with
a
firm
ordinance
that
protects
the
least
of
these
an
80
year
old
couple
who
live
to
two
units
down
from
the
church
there.
D
AE
AE
AF
Era
colleague,
have
you
guys
back
one
of
the
things
that
people
need
to
realize
which
I've
mentioned
before
is
this
is
not
just
a
Englewood
problem,
and
it's
not
because
of
the
stadium,
this
rent
increase
is
California.
Problem
is
happening
all
over
the
state.
I
know
that
people
think
that
this
impact
is
just
because
we
have
a
stadium
coming
into
the
area
furthest
from
the
truth.
AF
AF
D
Everyone
that
everyone
that
speaks
out
you're
gonna
have
to
go
because
no
one
interrupted
you.
So
so,
let's,
let's
let's
I'm
gonna
mr.
Holly
I'm
gonna,
give
you
15
more
seconds
because
you're
interrupted,
but
when
you
interrupt
you're
gonna
have
to
go.
This
isn't
a
free-for-all.
So
let
him
say
what
he
has
to
say.
You
were
allowed
to
say
what
you
wanted
to
say:
okay,
ma'am
you're
gonna
have
to
go.
Thank
you.
Go
ahead.
AF

Think
the
sorry
I
think
the
energy
right
now
in
the
eyes
that
are
looking
on
our
city.
For
instance,
this
camera
guy
I've
come
to
City
Council
meetings.
I,
don't
see
the
news,
we're
talking
about
good
things,
positive
things
going
on
in
our
city,
as
you
know,
I
just
ran
for
mayor,
and
that
was
one
of
my
main
stances
or
in
Stifler's
stabilization
and
believe
me,
I
know
it
myself,
but
I
think
coming
to
this
meeting
with
the
wrong
energy
and
not
coming
with
a
more
collective,
supporting
idea
that
we
can
bring
our
city
forward.

My
name
is
Willie
Agee
and
I
live
in
the
beautiful
city
of
Inglewood
for
53
years
and
a
regular
head,
the
City
Council
for
18
years.
I,
don't
see
anybody
here
from
home.
Oh
I
mean
apartment
owners,
that's
raising
their
rent
at
one
time,
I
want
quite
a
bit
of
property
in
the
city
of
the
area's
I
got
rid
of
it
and
the
reason
was
because
I
spent
more
money
on
apartments
because
it
was
destroyed
and
I.
You
know
then
I
could
that's
one
reason
why
they
raised
the
rent.
AH
AI
AI
AI
It
is
honestly
frustrating,
as
someone
of
my
people
of
an
older
generation
not
seem
to
understand
that
we
know
what
the
problem
is.
We're
not
saying
that
we
don't
know
what
it
is.
Oh,
that
the
stadium
itself
is
not
the
reason
why
rent
control
is,
however,
to
displace
people
purposely
knowing
good
and
well
that
these
people
don't
have
nowhere
to
go.
They
don't
have
the
means
to
do
the
things
that
they
need
to
do
yet.
AI
You
are
gonna,
sit
there
and
say
that
oh,
it's
different
on
this
side
of
town
well
I
live
in
Inglewood,
and
that
is
what
I'm
more
concerned
about.
I
like
I,
said
I'm
22,
there's,
no
reason
why
I
should
have
to
live
in
someone's
back
house
for
the
rest
of
my
life
I'm
trying
to
get
out
of
that.
So
my
question
is:
we
know
what
the
problem
is.
What
is
the
solution?
That's
it.
AJ

Afternoon,
my

I've
lived
in
Englewood
for
18
years
I'm
here
on
a
very
lighter
issue
of
recreation
for
senior
citizens.
There
are
tennis
courts
throughout
the
city,
Adar
be
resurfaced,
the
tennis
courts
there
and
we
are
asking
that
a
pickleball
court
be
reserved
on
one
of
those
tennis
courts
over
in
Vincent
Park.
They
have
denied
us
because
for
a
number
of
excuses,
although
they
have
stayed
empty
most
of
the
time
we
are
flexible,
but
we
would
like
one
court
designated
for
pickleball.
Thank
you.

D
A
E
My
name
is
Siri
called
ahead,
no
disrespect
to
what
that
gentleman
said,
but
I
don't
believe
that
there's
rent
increase
has
anything
to
do
with
how
people
live.
It's
very
clear
who
can
who
can
afford
these
rent
and
it's
very
clear
what
the
intention
of
this
rent
increase
is
so
for
allowing
a
rent
increase.
You
are
literally
allowing
gentrification
to
come
in
and
displace
an
already
disenfranchised
people.
We
just
voted
in
November
to
give
a
bond
to
help
the
homeless
population.
This
is
the
second
one
in
the
last
four
years.
E
How
do
these
bonds
help
when
increasing
when
increasing
the
front
like
this
is
the
reason
for
the
displacement
of
the
people?
It
is
important
to
protect
people
of
color
in
a
system
that
is
already
designed
to
continue
to
oppress
us
and
keep
us
oppressed.
It
is
2019
in
putting
profits
over
people.
It's
a
thing
of
the
past.
We
need
more
laws,
protecting
people
and
making
sure
that
no
more
people
ends
up
on
the
streets.
Thank
you.
Hey.

the

would
be

a

I
know
that
the
along
the
Crenshaw
improvement
that
they
have
made
these
subsidies
for
the

so
I
just
wanted
to
put
that
in
for
the

Well

You
mr.

first
of

I'd

would
like
to
invite
you
all
out
on
January
the

to
this
new
under
the
King

and
program,
so
mark
your
calendars
for
January
19th
and
come
out
11
o'clock,
11
a.m.
to
5
p.m.
thank
you
very
much.
You
guys
have
a
wonderful
day.
F
You
mayor,
you
know
first
off
again,
you
know
Happy
New,
Year
and
say
that
and
I
appreciate
everybody
coming
out.
I
truly
appreciate
folks
willing
to
stand,
and
you
know
talk
about
their
concerns
and,
and
we
hear
you
one
of
the
presenters
stated-
this
isn't
a
unique
Englewood
issue.
It's
an
issue
that
is
in
the
state
of
California.
F
I
We
clearly
understand
that
rent
issues,
as
well
as
investment
issues
in
the
city
has
escalated
dramatically
with
the
recent
interest
in
caused
in
the
city
of
Englewood
to
be
a
designated
city,
and
your
comments
as
you
raised
today,
did
not
go
in
vain,
and
we
just
thank
you
for
your
comments
and
have
a
blessed
day.
Thank.
G
Overall.
That
doesn't
mean
that
we
don't
understand
the
effect.
As
a
matter
of
fact,
you
know
we
start.
We
we've
always
thought
about.
You
know
the
impact
that
it
has
I
think
this
weekend
was
a
good
example
of
what
leadership
is
looking
at
I.
Think
the
mayor
actually
showed
that
he's
paying
attention,
as
we
all
are
on
things
that
are
unreasonable
and
that
he
is
willing
to
do
what
he
needs
to
do
to
make
sure
that
the
residents
are
treated
fairly
now.
G
That
being
said,
you
know
that's
a
good
example
of
an
isolated
incident,
whether
or
not
it's
a
situation
that
dictates
a
long-term
solution.
We
don't
know
these
are
things
that
were
constantly
talking
about
constantly
thinking
about,
but
it
goes
a
long
way
to
show
you
know
the
last
year.
So
this
when
this
subject
came
up,
we
were
constantly
challenged
the
mayor
more
so
because
of
his
election
in
terms
of
the
attention
he
was
placing
on
it.
I
want
everybody
to
see
this
as
an
example
of
the
attention
we
actually
are
placing
on
it.
G
That
being
said,
we
also
understand
the
market
and
how
rents
are
dictated,
and
those
are
things
that
that
we
are
constantly
looking
at
so
I
want
to
thank
everybody
for
coming
out.
I
know
that
this
conversation
will
continue,
but
that
being
said,
I
just
wanted
to
say
thank
you
for
coming
out.
Thank
you.
Mary
thank.
D
You,
the
the
issue
of
affordability
in
Inglewood,
has
always
been
at
the
forefront
of
the
policy
makers.
Here,
bless
you,
the
city
of
Inglewood,
/,
captain
whole
numbers.
No
seventh
before
has
more
affordable
housing
units
and
anywhere
in
South
Bay.
Our
average
rents
to
this
day
are
lower
than
anywhere
in
the
South
Bay
and
for
the
average
of
the
state
of
California.
Well,
that
means
nothing
to
people
that
get
a
notice
of
a
rent
increase
that
they
can't
afford.
D
The
majority
of
people
that
provide
rental
housing
in
city
of
Inglewood
are
mom
and
pop
residents,
that's
the
majority,
and
for
decades
they
have
rented
equivalent
property
for
less
than
anywhere
in
the
South
Bay.
Less
than
Santa
Monica
less
than
the
market
overall
would
provide,
and
so
they
just
unilaterally
help
people
that
have
just
hung
lon
until
anger
would.
D
That's
not
something
you
should
enter
into
lightly
now.
One
thing
that
I've
already
said
I
always
said
that
I
would
personally
I
would
seek
to
never
allow
an
investment
company
outside
our
city
to
come
in
and
raise
rents
in
a
wholesale
fashion.
That
would
result
in
de
facto
eviction
of
everyone
an
apartment
building,
it's
wrong.
It's
unfair.
D
We
had
a
situation
like
that
that
I
became
aware
of
from
my
own
Inglot,
actually
and
I've,
been
monitoring
social
media
for
well
over
18
months
and
every
time
someone
had
a
story
where
they
said
their
rent
was
raised
unilaterally
for
over
50%
I
would
send
a
message.
I'd
say.
Please
message
me
or
contact
me
at
my
city,
email
address.
D
D
D
D
D
D
G
D
No
no,
this
this
example
is
specific
only
to
these
addresses,
but
what
I'm
telling
you
is
that
this
is
an
example,
an
example
of
a
way
that
tenants
can
have
options
without
monolithically,
lumping
everyone
that
owns
a
building
into
one
pot
and
saying
that
everyone
should
be
effective
the
same
way.
So
what
I'm
saying
is
that
the
council's
paying
attention
we're
not
going
to
let
people
be
put
in
the
streets.
D
But
we're
gonna
be
thoughtful
and
we're
not
gonna
be
pushed
into
someone
else's
solution
because,
as
I
said,
I
was
police
chief's
in
Santa
Monica
for
15
years
and
they've
had
rent
control
since
1988
the
average
property
in
Santa
Monica
of
the
same
configuration
about
75%
more
to
rent
than
Englewood.
What
does
that
tell
you?
It
tells
you
that
rent
control
is
not
an
ultimate
solution.
The
ultimate
solution
actually
is
to
give
people
the
tools,
opportu
accesed,
two
jobs
to
exercise
self-determination
and
that's
what
we've
done
in
this
town.
D
They're
gonna
be
be
in
the
net
over
the
next
seven
years,
counting
from
where
we
started
60,
just
60
thousand
construction
jobs
paying
prevailing
wages
60,000,
we
have
former
felons
that
are
working
with
the
ironworkers
right
now
that
are
making
between
60
and
90
dollars
an
hour.
So
this
is
not
a
monolithic
solution.
We're
not
gonna
be
pushed
into
someone's
idea
of
what
the
solution
is.
D
We're
gonna
do
what's
best
overall
for
everyone
in
the
city,
but
in
the
meantime,
we're
not
going
to
let
people
be
treated
unfairly
with
that
I'm
gonna
close
the
meeting
in
the
name
of
Henry
wise
I
think
we
have
a
resident
on
Fifth
Avenue
that
passed
recently,
but
it
will
adjourn
in
her
name
the
next
meeting
with
that
we're
adjourned.
Thank
you
very
much.
