So
thank

so
much
for
bringing
up
the
item
and
taking
it
earlier.
I
really
appreciate
that
I
do
have
an
update
for
the
commission
on
the
north
central
park,
manage
creek
rfp
or
call
for
artists
that
we
did
back
in
june.
We
have
selected
three
artists.
Our
committee
that
helped
us
review
very
quickly
from
your
commission
was
gail
akers,
julio
mendes
and
then
three
commission
members
from
the
keep
laredo
beautiful
board,
jane
belmares.

Excuse

jackie
sutton
and
massie
mejia.
Those
are
the
five
folks
that
scored
14.
We
received
14
proposals
in
response
to
that
call
for
artists,
which
was
fabulous,
and
we
had
amazing
responses,
very
creative
responses,
and
we
ended
up
selecting
the
top
three
folks
that
scored
or
ranked
rather
in
that
selection
process
and
the
budget.

Her
piece
is
called
waves
and
she
is
out
of
austin
but
she's
a
native
laredoin,
and
that
is
going
to
probably
be
we
went
out
to
do
a
site
visit
at
the
park.
Already
she's
got
two
locations
in
mind
and
we
haven't
decided
exactly
where
it's
going
to
go
and
that's
the
phase
that
we're
in
with
everybody,
we're
still
narrowing
down
locations
at
north
central
park
and
working
on
the
paperwork.

Ricardo
is
actually
the
attorney,
that's
also
assigned
to
work
with
keep
laredo
beautiful
and
the
environmental
services
department,
so
he
has
been
helping
me
out
with
that
and
we've
been
collaborating
on
finalizing
all
the
agreements
and
our
third
artist
is
francisco
pancho
farias
and
his
piece
is
very
nature,
realistic
and
it
features
a
lot
of
the
natural
flora
and
fauna,
the
deer,
the
hawalina,
the
the
the
creek
itself
he's
incorporated
the
creek
into
his
rendering
and
I'm
so
sorry.
This
is
terrible
for
you
not
to
be
able
to
see
it.

say
thank

the
participating
in
picking
the
the
winners,
for
that
was
really
I
loved
it.
It
was
really
enlightening
and
it
was
exciting
to
see
so
many
applications
that
were
turned
in.

you
missed
the
deadline,
those
I
understand,
those
probably
were
just
as
nice,
but
it's
exciting
that
we
can
start
getting
things
going
in
laredo
and
having
a
lot
of
interest
in
art
in
the
form
of
sculptures
and
murals.

just
check
in,

so
it
was
smooth
all
around
because
it
was
a
group
effort.

knew
the
commission

questions
regarding
the
ordinance
and
the
role
of
the

the
commission

had

very
specific
questions,
but
he's

he's
on
already
he's

a
specific
agenda
item
so

we

guess
communications

reflected

The
ordinance
was
very
specific
about
all
the
stuff

supposed
to
do,
and
it
just
seems
like

council
kind

took
it
upon
themselves
to
ignore
the

ordinance,
and
so
you
know,
I
think
that's
very
concerning
for
me,
because
you
know
what
it
seemed
like
they
did
with.

concern
when
we
did
read
the
ordinance,

very
specific
and
then

agreed
with
armando

very
confused
that
the
city
council
voted
to,
except,
for

think
three
of
the
members
voted

money
and
distribute
it
amongst
themselves
and
then
it
kind
of
left
us
wondering
what
was
our
then.

amended

giving
up

funds
as
they

know
that
a
couple
of
the
council
members
set
aside
money
to
pay
for
the
the
master
plan,
the
art
master
plan,
so
so
we
there
are,
I
mean
they.
They
do
back
the
commission.
That
is
for
sure,
so
I'm
not
going

say
that
that
they're
not
going
to
reach
out
to
you
or
that
it
couldn't
be
a
possibility
that
they
wouldn't
reach
out.

master
plan
idea
the
idea
of
having
a
central
arts.
You
know
idea
a
plan
that
we
would
take
to
the
council
that
they
would
improve
that
way.
There
wouldn't
have
to
be
all
this
back
and
forth.
Once
we
committed
to
something

we
had
developed,
then
it
would
kind
of
run
smoothly.
But
here
this
is
kind
of
haphazard
because
it
they
make
it.
It
seems
like
we're
back
to
the
the
the
tribalism
of
every
council
person
doing
something
in
their
district
and
that
are
we.

think
we
were
all
very
serious
about
making
sure
that
we
did
that
and
included
there
as
part
of
the
plan.
So
anyway,
I
thought
the
road
map
that
the
ordinance
gave
was
very
specific.
There
was
a
big
deal
made
about
it,
a
lot
of
fanfare
and
then
you
know
boom
it's
it's
gone
and
and
and
just
like
my
agenda
I
mean
I,
I
was
a
board
member
before
I've-
never
seen
my
agenda
item
just
kind
of
like
not
even
it's
not
even
there.

not

half
an
hour
of
their
discussion
at
a
council
meeting,
but
you
know
full
meetings
like
the
ones
we
have
so
that
we
can
get
there
anyway.

just
very
disappointed
with
that,
because
it
would
have

nice

us

have
been
included
in
that
agenda
item
also
so
as
to
what
we
thought
about
that
as
a
commission.

you

you've
told
us

it's

their

serve
and

day
one

the
commission,

role

our
goal,
because
we
go
back
to
the
artists
and
to
the
art
community
and
they

want
to
know
the
same
thing,
and
so
what
we
were
telling
us
hey.
Well,
we've
got
this
thing
going
we're
gonna,
there's
gonna
be
an
ordinance,
the
ordinance
passed.

know
the
ordinance
because
of
the
fact
that
it
took
money
out,
and
you
know,
and-
and
it
was
I
mean
city
management
was,
you
know,
I
think-
was
a
little
bothered
by
the
fact
that
the
money
was
going
to
be
out
of
their
control
to
some
extent,
and
we
all
remember
that
feelings
because
it
was
supposed
to
be
a.
We
thought
it
would
be
a
pleasant
meeting
and
it
was
one
where
we
were
just
like
called
out
force.

was
the
goal
of
this
was
to
have
some
predictability
so
that
we
could
have
so
that
the
commission
can
have
some
credibility
with
the
arts
community,
and
you
know
at
this
point:
we
don't
because
we,
the
the
the
ordinance,
is
kind
of
gone
by
the
way.
So
again
that's
more
venting,
but
we
can
move
on.
I'm
sure
you'll
have
important
things
to
do.

am
too
legal
to
be
on
these
things,
so
I
would,
I
would
prefer
you
gail,
because
I
mean
you
you've
been
the
one
pushing
for
this
for
a
long
time,
and
so
I
I
think
that
that's
something
this
is

guess

you
know
our
vision
and
I
think
that
it
would
be
good
for
you
to
be
part
of
the
evaluation
of
the
master
plan
proposal
area.

don't
think
I
can
make
a
motion

The
other
thing
is
that
just
out
of
practicality,
you
know
the
committee,
the

remember

legality

but
if
the
council
member
that
appointed
me
is
no
longer
on
council
than
you
would
get
to
a
point
right.
