Description
Laredo Center for Urban Agriculture and Sustainability Meeting 092321
A
Hi,
let's
get
any
against
good
motion
carries
so
just
for
for
president's
report.
We
we've
been
working
on
a
new
strategy
for
the
incubator,
I'm
gonna.
A
The
strategy
update
I'm
to
kind
of
mix
it
with
the
president's
report.
We
we
have
this
idea
where
the
incubator
is
like
creating
a
garden
incubator
and
essentially
renting
out
lots
of
land
and
helping
entrepreneurs.
Write
farmers
create
lots
of
land,
so
it's
just
was
said
and
volunteers
only
creating
the
the
plots
of
land
they'd
be
also
working
alongside
was
that
would
be
guiding
them
to
create
their
own
farm,
essentially
on
the
the
plots
of
land
that
we
have.
So
we
think
it's
pretty
exciting.
A
We
want
to
rent
spots,
you
know
in
the
garden
to
be
able
to
so
you
know
whatever
nominal
fee.
That
may
be,
you
know
per
square
foot
and
you
know
jose
will
guide
them,
which
would
you
know,
create
more
volunteers,
it'll
also
kind
of
be
a
requirement
that
they
help
us
with
our
gardens
as
well,
so
be
it
alongside
and
then
until
they
can,
you
know
create
their
own
home
garden.
A
So
you
know
they'll
rent
a
spot
there
they'll
produce
we'll
get
you
know
we'll
sell
to
to
restaurants
or,
to
you
know,
to
the
area
around
the
community
around
there
and
and
help
them
yeah
become
you
know,
farmers
and
hopefully
create
some
self-sustainability
there.
A
That's
that
would
be
the
the
main
kind
of
idea
behind
the
food
production
incubator,
and
then
you
know
on
slack,
if
you're
on
slack,
though
we
have
some
some
notes
in
there
about
they're
trying
to
get
more
real
estate.
So
if
there's
anyone
with
plots
of
land
that
that
you
may
know
who
may
want
to
owe
something
like
this,
that
can
be
part
of
our
essentially
network
of
gardens.
A
That
would
help
us
create
a
little
bit
more
synergy
among
distribution,
eventually
of
this
production
of
food
and,
ideally
decentralized.
You
know
like
right
now:
we've
been
at
the
rec
centers,
hopefully
we
can
get
more
rec,
centers
and
working
with
mr
oklahoma's
on
that
idea
and
council.
You
know
hopefully,
they'll
support
us
on
this
with
we're
getting
more
rec
centers
and
you
know
just
expanding
that
plot
of
life.
A
Mr
was
actually
you
know.
I
know
it's.
Maybe
a
little
public
here,
but
what
do
you
think
about
the
idea
of
getting
more
rec
centers
involved,
as
we
have
done
with
the
hillside,
gardens.
C
No,
I
agree,
I'm
I'm
off
work.
You
know
we
hopefully
now
that
we're
little
by
little
we're
going
to
be
opening
up
and
we're
going
to
have
more
activity
going
on
in
the
rec
center.
So
you
know,
we've
come
up
with
a
planner,
maybe
place
them
in
you
know
we
can
I'll
be
more
than
glad
to
you
know
we're
more
than
glad
to
you
know,
get
it
going
all
right
so
so
count
with
us
on
that.
A
Thank
you.
Thank
you
very
much,
and
I
saw
what
you
what
you've
been
doing
with
you
know
creating
special
times
for
for
the
seniors
to
have
their
own
specific
hours
at
the
rec
centers.
I
think
that's
a
wonderful
idea
for
their
safety,
and
you
know
I
think,
maybe
that
could
yeah.
Maybe
alongside
that
you
know
those
lines.
Maybe
that's
where
the
program
can
kind
of
be
around
as
well.
You
know
is
working
with
them.
I
know.
We've.
We've
also
had
interest
from
for
many
seniors
so
that
you
know
tie
in
perfectly
with
that.
C
C
From
seven
in
the
morning
to
two
in
the
afternoon,
in
a
couple
of
months,
we'll
be
opening
back
up
again
with
I'm
gonna
understand
from
council,
but
we're
gonna
adjust
some
hours
there
as
well.
A
Excellent
great,
so
in
that
sense
you
know
the
rotation.
There
would
be
interesting.
I
think
it
says
what
we're
trying
to
figure
out
right.
You
know
two
guardians
is:
is
a
handful
so
trying
to
expand
more
to
you
know,
you
know
three,
four,
five,
it's
definitely
a
project,
but
I
think
you
know
this
idea
of
the
incubator
and
creating
the
self-sustaining
ability
where
they
have
the
responsibility
of
their
own
lots
of
land
and
they're
helping
us
in
the
effort
of
creating
sustainable
gardens.
A
B
A
D
D
A
And
you
know
the
education
portion,
I
think,
also
teach
somebody
and
you
know
how
to
create
build
garden
there
and
really
a
very
hands-on
approach.
So
we'll
definitely
continue
that,
as
a
like,
you
said,
there's
other
projects
what
we
want
to
do
on
there,
so
yeah
sustainability,
education.
It
ties
in
a
lot
of
things
and
ideally
also
generating
some
revenue
so
that
we
can
become
a
you
know,
self-sustainable
financial
organization
right
as
well,
where
we
we
depend
less
and
less
from
an
injection
of
capital
from
the
city
over
time.
A
Right
now,
you
know,
with
the
current
amount
of
square
footage,
maybe
won't
be
totally
self-sustainable,
but
it
does
get
us
closer
and
require
less
investment.
So
that's
something
also.
I
think
this
is
going
to
help
with
as
we
rent.
A
I
think.
Actually,
you
know
saying
this
out
loud.
No,
I
don't
know
if
there'd
be
some
issues
on
the
renting
side,
is
there
any
legal
considerations
we
have
to
take
into
it
wouldn't
be
subleasing,
but
it'd
be
like
kind
of
like
a
way,
a
membership
fee
or
a
square,
a
plot
of
square
footage.
Any
any
concerns
on
that.
A
F
G
Yeah,
I
think,
just
for
the
record
as
of
right
now,
the
people
that
have
have
committed
to
should
be
responsible
or
for
all,
I'm
treating
that
as
a
donation.
Those
that
subscription
is,
I
actually
give
them
a
donation
form
with
the
amount
that
they
that
they
pay.
G
G
A
row
for
sixty
dollars
for
six
months,
which
is
ten
dollars,
basically
ten
dollars
per
month,
to
be
actively
engaged
in
the
program.
F
A
That's
right,
okay,
I
guess.
As
long
as
we
communicate
to
the
the
donating
the
person
donating
that
it's
not
least
it's
not
a
sublease,
they
don't
own
that
plot
of
land.
Anything
like
that.
It's
an
understanding
right!
It's
a
donation,
but
you
know
this
is
kind
of
what
they
most
likely
will
get.
A
E
A
And
really
that's
the
main
thing
that
I
wanted
to
focus
on
today.
Just
announcing
that
you
know,
I
think
that
long
term
that's
going
to
be
kind
of
key
to
a
lot
of
things:
education,
sustainability
produce,
supplying
restaurants,
community
involvement,
council
involvement,
city-
you
know
rec
centers,
just
the
rec
centers
are
central
locations
for
each
part
of
the
community
right.
There's
there's
been
a
lot
of
strategy
behind
that
the
location
of
those,
so
I
think,
really
collaborating.
A
There
is
a
perfect
concept.
Yeah,
if
you
have
any
other
questions
on
that,
you
know
feel
free
to
reach
out
to
me
or
talk
with
dad
to
to
develop
that
program.
We're
excited
for
it,
so
you
know,
stay
stay
in
touch
and
we'll
send
you
more
information,
so
you
can
spread
it
along
as
well
as
for
president's
report.
That's
all
for
me!
So
move
on
to
the
secretary's
report.
D
Great,
so
I'm
going
to
start
off
with.
If
you
look
at
the
bylaws
there's
a
section
that
says
directors
numbers
one
through
five,
the
their
term
show
expires
september,
30th
2021.
So,
as
you
guys
know
that's
next
week,
so
myself
jj
order
orlina,
larro
and
roger
we're
done
with
the
committee
next
week.
D
So
I
guess
what
we
should
do
is
go
around
the
table
and
see
what
everybody's
status
is
I'd
like
to
remain
on
this
board
and
continue.
I
I
don't
want
to
be
secretary
anymore.
I've
done
it
for
two
years
and
I
think
somebody
else
should
should
be
able
to.
You
know
pick
up
and
do
a
much
better
job
than
what
I've
been
doing.
So
I
will
happily
entertain
a
or
perhaps
maybe
the
next
meeting
we
can
do
an
election
for
secretary
to
begin
january,
1st
or
december
1st.
D
C
Yes,
I
will
stay
on
as
well.
There's,
of
course,
as
you
know,
we're
kind
of
going
back
to
normalcy
if
at
times
that
I
will
not
be
able
to
attend
for
some
reason
or
other,
I
will
send
anika
stanley
to,
I
don't
know
she
can
vote
or
not,
but
at
least
represent
parks
to
keep
us
in
the
loop.
But
if,
if
allowed,
I
will
I
will
allow
to,
I
would
like
to
be
stay
on
as
well.
D
Okay
and
if
she's
your
official
designee,
then
I
I
think
she
can
vote.
D
Okay,
environmental
services,
mr
porter.
F
Oh
I'll,
stay
or
or
have
a
you
know
proxy,
like
like
jj.
D
Excellent
planning
and
zoning
joanne
white.
D
All
right,
I
I'm
gonna,
give
joanne
some
time.
Maybe
she
can
type
something
up
in
the
chat
and
local
economic
development
director.
That
is,
of
course,
our
our
chairman,
roger
garcia,.
A
Yes,
love
to
stay
on
and
continue
to
help,
and
I
just
want
to
say
thank
you
all
to
also
the
the
city
officials
who
just
said
you
know
you
know
I
want
to
thank
you
all
for
your
commitment
to
this.
You
know,
and
you
know
I
know
it's
extra
meetings
and
you're
already
tied
up
with
a
ton
of
meetings,
so
I
really
appreciate
all
the
time
that
you've
invested
with
us
and
continuing
to
to
want
to
help
us
with
this
mission.
So
thank
you
all.
D
Great
joanne
are
you
there.
B
Hear
me:
yes,
okay,
yes,
I
would
like
to
keep
it
the
way
it
is.
This
is
my
second
time
attending
the
meetings
and
I'm
gonna
be
representing
mr
navarro.
If
that's
okay
with
you.
B
D
Okay,
so
if
it's
okay
with
you
roger,
can
we
put
it
on
the
next
agenda
to
vote
for
the
secretary
position.
A
I
don't
know
I
would
have
done
it
without
you,
so
you
know
I'm
hoping
I
get
a
good
secretary.
No
I'm
kidding.
No,
I'm
glad
you
guys
down
the
board
and
you've
been
incredibly
helpful
with
all
this
and
and
just
an
amazing
job,
so
big
shoes
to
fill
whoever
whoever
decides
to
do
secretary
next.
We
would
appreciate
that-
and
I
understand
you
know
you've
already
served
two
years
with
this.
It's
a
lot
of
extra
work.
So
thank
you
for
all
of
your
commitment
and
yes
definitely
for
the
next
meeting.
A
We
can
put
that
seat
up
for
election.
D
Thank
you.
Thank
you.
I'm
gonna
go
ahead
and
move
it
into
the
treasurer
report
bobby.
I
just
pulled
up
his
text.
D
Detailed
treasures
report
and
he
also
included
a
copy
of
the
bank
statement
just
so
we
have
it
on
file.
So
it's
very
self-explanatory.
I
think
it's
an
excellent
report
and
we
should
be
good
to
go
there.
He
last
meeting
we
did
vote
to
have
two
new
accounts.
Open
he's
done
pretty
much
all
the
preparation,
but
he
is
going
to
get
with
you
roger
because
you
need
to
co-sign
on
them.
So
maybe
by
next
week
you
guys
can
arrange
something:
yeah
yeah.
D
Okay
and
that's
it
for
the
secretary
report
and
the
treasurer
report
and
with
everybody's
permission,
I'm
gonna
excuse
myself
from
the
meeting.
The
meeting
will
continue
but
yeah
I
have
some
other.
I
have
a
son
duties
that
I
have
to
take
care
of.
A
Well,
we
appreciate
you
making
this
and
best
of
luck
with
everything.
Thank
you.
A
Okay
with
that
we're
on
down
to
the
executive
director's
report.
G
Yeah
a
few
minutes
ago,
I
sent
you
an
email
with
three
links.
The
first
link
is
a
a
year
in
review
some
presentation
of
what
we
we've
done
in
our
first
year.
Please
take
a
few
moments
to
to
see
it.
The
second
link
is
that
my
current
report,
my
report
for
august
and
september
and
the
third,
the
third
link
is
my.
G
This
is
a
I'm
gonna
say
that
as
a
proposal
I
want
to
use
a
new.
I
want
to
to
use
a
new
volunteer
application
and
gardener
equipment
for
the
21
22
season,
and
you
also
have
that
link.
If
you
want
go
over
it,
let
me
start:
I'm
not
gonna
share
my
screen
with
you.
A
I
really
like
the
the
survey
it
looks.
It
looks
really
good.
Maybe
just
make
some
of
those
options
optional.
I
mean
this
question
is
optional.
You
know,
like
the
do.
You
have
a
diagnosed
medical
condition
that
you
know
it's
up
to
the
person
to
decide
if
they
want
to
disclose
that
a
couple
of
little
things
like
that,
you
know
court
ordered
the
hours
just
optional
military
optional.
You
know
things
like
that,
but
great
data
point.
You
can
definitely
use
this
to
be
able
to
get
really
good
data.
G
G
So
yeah
in
terms
of
grants,
we
have
two
grants
on
the
review
right
now.
Both
are
national
brands,
big
grants,
one
is
federal,
one
is
a
public
money
and
the
other
one
is
private.
It's
a
private
trust,
so
those
are
the
two
applications
that
are
under
review
right
now.
My
next
application
will
be
in
a
couple
of
weeks
earlier
next
week
to
be
in
the
safe
side.
The
lbb
thrust,
I'm
working
on
that
right
now
in
that
application.
G
The
data
collection
toolkit
well,
this
application
voluntary
application
in
gardener
argument
is
the
first,
my
first
tool
in
this
toolkit.
A
E
A
G
Demographics
I
need
to
I
mean
we
need
to
have
those
demographics,
because
if
I
want
to
write
a
grant
for
women
or
veterans,
I
mean
I
need
to
have
those
those
numbers.
Oh
you
know
I
need.
C
G
To
be
able
to
justify
my
my
brand
applications.
A
We'll
make
suggestions
you
know
like
like
making
some
things
optional
in
case
the
person
doesn't
want
her,
because
I
want
to
you
know
answer.
That
would
be
my
suggestion,
but
no
you
can
adjust
it
and
use
it
as
you
need
it.
E
G
Okay,
in
terms
of
the
garden
incubator,
I
have
very
good
news.
We
don't
have.
We
don't
even
have
a
month
in
the
program.
In
fact,
I
haven't
published
anything
yet,
but
I
have
recruited
two
friends:
three
families,
mr
balles
and
his
family.
They
are
now
responsible
on
four
rows
in
mindful
they
are
planting.
Well,
not
yet
not
not
full.
They
are
not
food
planted
right
now,
but
there
he
started
planting
medicinal
plants
and
herbs
and
those
four
olds
are
in
good
hands.
It's
mr
fito,
his
wife
and
their
sons
and
daniela.
G
They
are
responsible
of
two
roles
in
tranquility
and
these
are
young
entrepreneurs
and
they
were
very
interested
in
prom
the
first
time
they
came
to
the
garden
I
proposed.
If
they
wanted.
They
were
interested
in
registering
in
this
program
and
they
were
bullied
so
they
they
took
two
roles
right
now
and
I'm
very
happy
to
inform
that
our
first
one
of
our
first
well,
when
I
got
here
to
help
us
one
of
my
my
first
body
interest
was
caitlyn
cointon
she's,
not
from
laredo
but
she's.
G
She
teaches
at
tamiu,
so
she's
been
with
us
since
last
august.
So
last
week
she
was
able
to
raise
her
her
business
chat,
concrete
canning
company,
and
we
are
empowering
her.
We
are
supporting
her
she's
she's,
using
our
producers
to
start
up
her
business.
This
is
the
first
trademark
or
company
that
we
helped
to
develop
in
the
garden
and
I'm
very
happy
for
that.
We're
going
to
start
selling
our
products
this
this
coming
saturday
in
the
garden.
B
G
I
don't
know,
but
I
mean
they
just
got
interested
the
first
time
I
mentioned
that
we
were
going
to
develop
an
incubator.
They
were
all
in
and
I
haven't
published
anything
on
social
media.
Yet
so
I'm
thinking
that
if
I,
if
I
share
a
flyer
or
something.
A
A
Balance
betw,
you
know
margins
for
them
and
and
also
self-sustainability
for
us.
So
we
were
discussing
a
little
bit
about
how
much
we
could
charge
per
square
foot
so
that
you
know
we
generate
some
funds,
but
also
they
obviously
need
to
make
a
margin
on
that.
So,
let's,
let's
keep.
Let's
present
that
next
month
and
just
view
or
what's.
G
G
H
Just
going
back
to
that
truck
owen,
creek
canning
company
they've
already
submitted
their
application
to
the
farmers
market
and
we're
going
through
the
process
with
them
so
that
they
can
start
selling
in
october.
So
that's
going
to
be
exciting
for.
A
H
Now,
yeah
and
and
the
way
that
the
farmers
market
you
know
when
someone
comes
and
applies
over
here,
since
we
are
certified
farmers
markets,
we
make
sure
that
they
follow
all
of
the
proper
permittings
that,
like
that,
they
need.
So
we
make
sure
that
they,
you
know
under
the
law,
they're
they're,
following
all
the
laws
that
they're
getting
their
permits,
that
they
need
so
that
they
can
properly
sell
and
then
from
there
eventually,
hopefully
can
grow
a
little
bit
further
than
that.
A
That's
a
wonderful
success
story,
I
think,
especially
after
the
first
sale.
We
should
definitely
document
that
process
and
show
you
know
from
day
one
all
the
way
to
the
first
sale.
I
think
that
would
be
an
excellent
story
to
promote
the
incubator.
A
The
guy
asking
like
hey
how
much
money
can
we
make
on
this,
but
you
know
we
do
need
to
make
sure
do
you
know
how
much
the
profitability
would
be
for
them
based
on
what
we're
charging
right
now
for
those
lots
of
land,
so
they're
paying
60
for
six
months?
How
much
can
they
make
in
six
months,
based
on
that,
after
costs
and
everything.
A
Yeah,
so
what
are
their
costs?
And
then
do
you
know
their
profit?
After
all,
the
costs,
including
rent-
you
know,
materials,
farmers,
market
fees,
these
permit
fees,
you
know
follow.
I
mean
all
of
that.
Do
you
know
what
they'll
make
in
six
months
from
that
investment.
E
H
No,
no,
I
was
just
gonna
mention
that
I
think
she
would
be
considered
a
cottage
food
law
vendor,
because
it's
canned
and
I
and
if
I'm
not
mistaken,
it's
either
five
or
ten
dollars
for
the
farmer's
market.
But
we
can
get
that
to
you
jose
and
then
you
can
make
your
calculations
in
this.
A
G
A
Definitely
when
they
sign
up
for
the
incubator,
let's,
let's
create
another
survey
like
you
did
for
for
the
for
the
volunteers,
but
this
one
more
for
what
their
goals
are
with
the
with
the
garden.
So
this
is
you
know
for
self-sustainability.
Is
it
improving
the
community
for
selling
to
the
farmers,
market
or
restaurants?
A
You
know
some
revenue
generation
or
sustenance,
but
you
know,
let's,
let's,
let's
understand
them
what's
driving
them
and
then
you
know
maybe
even
based
on
the
objectives
we
can
find
out
how
much
we
can
try
to
generate
from
that,
because
we
do
have
limited
land
at
this
at
this
point,
but
you
know
we
can
always.
We
can
always
scale
that
up.
So
I
don't
want
to
be
too
agree
on
that.
I
just
want
to
make
sure
we're
we're
also
reasonable.
We
do
have
commitments,
but
but
I'm
glad
I
was
developing.
A
Thank
you
so
much
joseph
for
this,
and
you
know
I'm
excited
I'm
glad
to
hoping
this
fast
and
you
know,
keep
us
keep
us
up
to
date
with
the
progress.
G
Sure
I
will,
and-
and
also
we
already
talked
about
that
with
coach
thomas
but
yeah.
We
we
are
all
about
the
garland
expansion,
it's
actually
aligned
with
the
real
food
policy
goals
and
objectives
and
I'm
sure
the
city
of
loredo
also
wants
to
to
promote
to
keep
promoting
community
gardens
around
the
city.
So
I'm
happy
to
hear
coach
thomas.
Our
upcoming
events
are
next
well.
Actually,
today
we
have
a
gardening
session.
Today,
this
afternoon
we
have
to
harvest
next
saturday,
we
we
will
set
up
a
small
mercadito.
B
G
C
G
A
Is
there
anything
else
that
you
need
from
the
board?
What's
that
is.
A
Awesome
well,
thank
you
for
getting
this
started
so
quickly,
and
you
know
getting
it
rolling
already
is
excellent.
I
think
we
have
some
objectives
for
for
next
month
to
present
you
know,
essentially
just
the
numbers
behind
the
program,
what
we
expect,
what
it
was
going
to
be
for
the
gardeners
and
for
the
farmers
entrepreneur-wise,
and
it's
just
like
how
much
land
we
have
right
now
how
much
we
would
like
to
acquire.
A
I
think
your
data
on
the
once
you
get
the
volunteers,
I'm
very
interested
to
know
which
districts
you're
getting
most
of
the
volunteers
for
because
then
that
could
be
the
first
wreck
that
we
expand
to,
depending
on
the
numbers
that
you
see.
So
just
just
great
things.
Thank
you
for
for
building
this
down
so
well
and
looking
forward
to
it.
Is
there
any
other
comments
from
from
the
board
around
any
of
these
updates.
A
Okay,
great:
is
there
somebody
from
the
I'm
going
to
move
on
now?
Are
you
done
with
the
update?
What's
up.
A
Yeah
it's
cutting
off.
Not
just
is
there?
Is
there
anything
else
that
you
need
update?
You
said
you're
good.
E
A
Great
okay,
so
is
there
anyone
from
the
food
policy
council
that
can
update
us
on
the
partnership
report.
G
Yeah
we're
gonna
set
up
at
the
our
next
meeting
for
october.
I
don't
have
a
date
right
now,
but
I
will
I'll
work
it
out.
A
Okay,
if
there's
anyone
who
wants
to
join
us
back,
please
send
us
a
message,
so
we
can
add
you
on
there.
We
have
a
couple
of
channels
like
brainstorming,
community
gardens,
finance
general
grants,
whiteboards
just
communication
portal
for
us
to
discuss
the
ongoing
progress
of
the
the
project
in
a
more
in
a
quicker
way.
So,
if
you're
interested
in
that,
please
reach
out
to
wilson
myself
and
we'll
add
on
there
is
there
any
other
last
comments
that
anyone
would
like
to
make
before
we
move
on
to
adjourn
today's
meeting.
A
Excellent,
well,
I
want
to
thank
you
all
for
your
time.
I
really
appreciate
all
of
your
contributions,
your
insights
into
this.
You
know
just
your
commitment
to
this
program
and
to
all
the
city
officials
today
who
volunteer
to
to
extend
their
terms
to
the
next
next
few
years
or
whatever
the
terms
are,
and
you
know
I
appreciate
that
long-term
commitment
from
y'all-
and
you
know
all
of
us-
are
volunteers
on
this,
so
I
I
it's
not
lost
on
me
and
I
thank
you
all
for
your
time.
A
So,
if
you
ever
need
anything
feel
free
to
reach
out
to
me
and
happy
to
collaborate
on
any
new
projects,
you
have
in
mind.
So
thank
you
all
and
look
I'll
see
you
in
the
next
one
motion
to,
or
can
I
get
a
motion
too
during
the
meeting.
