Description
Laredo Center for Urban Agriculture and Sustainability Meeting 012821
A
We
do
appreciate
your
time
so
we'll
keep
this.
You
know
short
and
sweet
for
everyone.
Do
you
pledge
allegiance?
I
know
we've
been
kind
of
skipping
through
those
throughout
the
last
few
meetings.
A
If
that's
something
you
know,
we
all
would
like
to
continue
to
do
we
can.
We
can
do
that.
Maybe
we
can
come
up
with
something
you
know
look
forward
to
to
honor
take
place
of
that.
B
Presenting
him
john
porter
is
on
james
kirby.
Snyderman
has
yet
to
log.
C
A
D
D
Public
member
nice
to
see
you
all
everybody,
I'm
really
excited
to.
D
You
know
see
some
really
great
programs
put
in
place
the
city
really
the
food
system.
It
is
what
every
society,
especially
studies,
our
size,
are
looking
at.
D
Infrastructure
grants
that
are
gonna
of
various
types
for
various
ways
of
exploring
expanding
local
food
sustainability,
and
I
I'm
hoping
that
lcuas
will
take
time
to
respond
to
some
of
those
grants
and
hopefully.
A
I'll
definitely
go
into
a
little
bit
more
as
to
what
I've
invited
today.
She's
instrumental,
really
and
really
this
this
organization
is,
was
created
a
lot
from
her
direction
and
from
her
guidance
and
really
exposing
us
to
the
idea
that
this
is
possible.
So
I
want
to
thank
you
viviana.
Thank
you.
A
A
With
that,
you
know,
I'd
like
to
move
forward
to
the
approval
of
the
minutes,
so
that
we
can
approve
those
and
continue
on
to
some
of
the
some
of
the
items
I'd
like
to
bring
up
together
and
the
president's
report
has
everyone
had
a
chance
to
review
them.
E
B
You
know
I
do
have
every
every
meeting
in
a
video
and.
B
B
A
We
can
discuss
that
outside
of
this
meeting
and
but
I
think
that
works
just
fine
like
you
said
it's
all
public.
So
if
you
want
to
go
back
to
any
of
the
if
they
were
discussed,
it's
all
available.
B
Some
of
them
are
the
last
one
was
not,
but
I
don't
get
with
jerry
and
make
sure
that
they're
all
on
there
priscilla
showed
up.
So
we.
A
A
Moving
on
to
the
president's
report,
so
today
the
three
items
I
wanted
to
bring
up.
These
are
certain
barriers
that
are
in
the
way
of
well
said
sort
of
being
able
to
move
forward
with
the
program,
one
being
the
the
least
agreement
we
need
to.
We
need
to
as
a
board
can
you
come
to
a
decision?
You
know
whether
that's
you
know
justice.
A
We
sent
the
lease
agreement
a
little
earlier
today,
so
review
that
I
think
we
need-
maybe
just
you
know
a
day
or
two
to
review
that
maybe
send
that
to
the
attorney's
office
and,
although
I
think
they
they're
going
to
make
it
in
their
favor
just
review.
If
you
have
any
comments,
please
respond
on
the
the
email
that
was
sent
out
and
we'll
try
to
get
those
approved.
You
know,
hopefully,
by
early
next
week.
So
that
way
we
can
be
sent
over
to
the
city
manager's
office,
and
we
can.
A
We
can
get
that
lease
agreement
signed
once
we
get
that
lease
agreement
signed,
then
jose
can
start
applying
for
grants
and
he's
already
started
identifying
some
of
them.
Some
of
them
are
really
over
a
hundred
thousand
three
hundred
thousand
they're
pretty
sizy
grants,
so
we
need.
We
really
need
this
to
move
forward.
Please
you
know,
make
your
comments
today
and
tomorrow.
So
we
can
move
forward.
A
The
the
second
thing
is
is
a
volunteer
program
that
says,
and
I
started
talking
about
creating
we
want
to
create
a
program
where
he
needs
volunteers
right
now.
He
has
about
maybe
two
or
three
active
volunteers
per
week.
Maybe
you
know
they
rotate.
He
says
he
needs
at
least
eight
to
ten
on
average
to
maintain
the
current
garden.
They've
been
really
improving
the
the
produce
in
the
inventory
of
what
we
have
so
thank
you.
A
People
said
for
for
working
diligently
with
the
resources
that
you
have
in
order
to
try
to
get
some
more
volunteers.
We
suggested
maybe
investing
in
some
of
these
volunteers
right
and
creating
a
program
around
it,
so
they
volunteer
for
the
next.
You
know
three
months
or
so.
A
Every
week,
then
we
can
invest
in
a
starter
kit,
that's
anywhere
between
200
to
400
for
them,
so
they
can
have
their
own
home
garden
and,
with
his
consultation,
he'll
make
sure
that
that
you
know
the
beds
are
good
and
that
they
have
a
sustainable
garden.
So
I
think
that's
a
that's
a
great
program.
Jose
is
going
to
develop
that
you
know
over
the
next
next
few
weeks
and
that
way,
if
there's
any
costs
that
need
to
be
approved
by
the
board.
A
A
So
I'd
like
to
welcome
now
vienna
to
introduce
what
food
policy
councils
do
around
the
country
and
what
she
has
in
mind
for
her
for
this
organization.
C
A
D
Okay,
so
when
lcuas
was
created
several
years
ago
now,
part
of
the
reason
it
was
created
was
to
also
help
manage
a
food
policy
council.
What
that
meant
is
essentially
invite.
D
D
In
some
way
touch
food
for,
in
a
manner
that.
D
And
it's
not
working
in
silos
a
lot
of
these
organizations.
It
was
shown
at
those
workshops
that
some
of
them
didn't
even
know
the
others
existed.
D
Duplicating
efforts
and
really
believed
that
a
food
policy
council
would
be
helpful
in
not
doing
that,
and
so
that's
what
you
know
of
course,
that's
what
happens
when
there's
there's
different
organizations
working
in
silos
and
there's
no
kind
of
way
to
get
them
to
communicate
with
each
other
and
with
food
sustainability.
It's
really
important
for
those
organizations
to
have
a
way
to
talk
and.
D
Plan
reaching,
where
they're
reaching
milestones
and
how
they
would
be
able
to
work
better
in
the
city
and
deliver
better
services
in
the
city
along
the
same
lines.
At
the
same
time,
also
that
it
was
a
great
study
done
by
a
harvard.
D
Part
of
what
work
cities,
which
was
a
bloomberg
initiative
that
the
city
was
a
part
of
it,
was
one
of
a
hundred
mid-sized
cities.
That
was
that
was
chosen
for
the.
D
Portal
together
and
to
get.
D
D
Be
able
to
work
seamlessly
between
department
sharing
data
and
information.
D
So
decisions
and
have
better
ability
to
share
that
information
with.
D
The
ability
to
to
plan
together
and
lcuas
is
the
better
response.
Let's
say
not
response.
D
The
meetings
to
take
meeting
notes
make
sure
that
those
meeting
notes
are
getting
to
everybody
there
and
then,
following
up
and
having
another,
you
know
those
meetings
and
just
helping
them
organize
in
that
fashion.
What
I've
agreed
to
do
when
roger
asked
me
to
do
this?
I
would
I.
D
D
Willing
to
help
organize
all
of
that.
The
only
thing
that
I
would
need.
D
All
that
would
be
required
right
now,
if
there's
any
action
items
or
anything
that
would
require
board
approval.
For
you
know
it
would
be
brought
to
the
board
for
your
house
of
approval.
We
are
willing
to
come
and
do
a
report
every
month
and
if
there's
an
action
item
I'll
I'll,
you
know.
D
Advisory
committee
and
it
doesn't
take
any
action
beyond
the
board
the
board,
it's
the
ultimate
driver
of
all
all
things
in
this
committee.
D
Three
and
five-year
plan
that
this
commission
can
work
on
a
written
document
that
would
help
them
have
milestones
of
of
how
to
reach
a
more.
D
It
could
be
anywhere
from
innovation
to
you
know
getting
the
right
policy
in
place
at
the
at
the
health
department.
That
would
allow.
D
They
they
have
at
the
end
of
the
day
that
isn't
used,
instead
of
throwing
it
out
to
be
able
to
package
it
in
which
cities
have
done
that
doesn't
exist
here,
at
least
I
don't
think
so.
Am
I
right.
B
D
D
Okay,
so
anyways
that's
the
kind
of
thing
that
the
food
policy
council
would
help
figure
out,
and
you
know
those
are
the
kinds
of
things
that
they
would
bring
to
you
and
help
develop
the
policy
for
that
and
the
advocacy
for
it
at
the
city
just
to
and
and
the
health
department
to
make
that
accident.
D
It's
really
worked
in
other
cities
and
there's
so
much
poverty
here
that
it's
a
shame
that
a
lot
of
this
food
goes
to
waste.
So
you
have
any
questions.
I'd
be
happy
to
answer.
E
No
I'm
going
to
have
to
I'm
sorry,
I'm
going
to
have
to
hop
off
of
the
call
right
here
and
I'll
give
a
treasurer
report
the
next
at
our
next
meeting,
the
but
anyway,
I'm
sorry
yeah,
I'm
gonna
have
to
hop
off.
This
is
bobby
by
the
way,
hey
bobby
hello.
A
A
A
D
H
Sorry
sure,
thank
you
so
try
to
make
sure
I
understood.
H
The
connector
for
all
of
these
other
food-related
organizations
like
ours
to
help
promote
you,
know,
policies.
D
This
codeless,
it
is
a
and
it's
really
a
function
of
lcuas
to
help
this
happen,
because
so
much
of
else,
what
lcua's
mission
has
to
do
with
you
know
getting
these
these
organizations
to
be
able
to
work
together
more
efficiently.
D
They
will
be
but
they're
an
advisory
committee
to
you
all,
and
at
least
for
now
I
mean
I
suppose
they
can
in
bigger
cities
that
offshoot
and
they
form
their
own
other
thing
and
but
right
now
what
lcuas
was
task
force
way
back
then,
was
to
do
this
council
help
but
get
started
and
essentially
get
it,
and-
and
my
effort
is
simply
from
city
makery
again
to
to
help
it
get
started,
because
it's
so
important
to
have
it
as
part
of
the
as
you
can't
really
have
local
food
sustainability
of
all
that.
D
They're
not
talking
to
each
other
and
they
don't
have
a
plan
of
of
how
to
really
activate
sustainable
food
sustainability
in
the
city
and.
D
D
Well,
because
you
know
they
need
a
place
to.
D
That,
since
lc
uis
had
not
been
funded.
H
Your
question,
yes,
it
did.
Thank
you
so
much
for
taking
the
time
when
you
guys
brought
in
mark
whitney.
I
went
into
the
lecture
that
he
didn't
have
you.
It
was
so.
D
And
the
city
manager
at
the
time
had
had
everybody
there.
He
made
sure
they
were
all
invited
they
and
every
department
head
was
there.
It
was
really
great
two
days
two
and
a
half
days,
I
guess,
but
we'll
be
able
to.
A
Thank
you
again,
for
you
know
really
helping
us
understand
what
the
effort
is,
and
I
appreciate
you
accepting
the
invitation
and
you
know
we
have
been
talking
about
it,
for
I
think
the
last
two
years,
so
I'm
glad
to
come
full
circle,
and
now
we
have
some
funds
and
we
can
really
move
this
forward.
A
With
that,
you
know,
I'd
like
to
move
forward
with
the
we're
going
to
skip
the
treasures
report,
probably
we'll
be
sending
that
via
email
and
we'll
be
moving
on
to
the
volunteer
report.
So
morgan
forward.
H
H
H
Everyone
so
that
wasn't
my
question
to
the
board
today
was
just
making
sure.
H
Precautions
are
we
suggesting
that
they
do
take
active
precautions?
Are
we
limiting
that,
and
it
knows
that
really
reports
more
of
a
question,
but
that's.
G
Mask
in
essence,
goes:
there
are
people
that
wear
gators
or
handkerchiefs
or
etc,
and
so
the
the
concept
of
the
double
mask
is
is
in
essence,
that
layer
of
protection
that
is
needed,
because
sometimes
these
gators
and
and
handkerchiefs
they
don't
do
the
trick.
For
you
we're
talking
about
double
mass
at
city,
inside
city,
buildings
and
and
and
of
course
this
is
outside
so
yeah,
but
double
mask,
I'm
sure.
If
we
go
through
the
format
you
get
an
even
extra.
H
Protection,
okay,
perfect!
So
we're
just
going
to
continue
that,
though
the
you
know,
I'm
asking
your
face
and
your
nose
being
outside
practicing
social
distancing
and
then
what
we're
going
to
keep.
But
I
think
right
now
we're
saying
10
volunteers
I
mean
it
hasn't
been
a
problem
but
10
volunteers
at
a
time,
that's
kind
of
our
our
policy.
What
we've
been
practicing
now
that
tamiu
is
back.
G
Of
public,
the
veterans
group
that
is
over
on
the
other
side,
they're
super
happy
to
be
included.
G
Them
that
that
some
of
these
stuff
but
yeah
it'd,
be
it'd,
be
a
good
idea
to.
H
A
B
Of
help
from
tamiu
professors,
so
if
perhaps
you
could,
you
know
speak
to
some
of
them,
we
do
have
a
like.
I
said
we
do
have
an
open
board
space.
If
anybody
would
be
interested,
you
know
we
need
to
fill
that
spot.
Ms
frank
viviana.
D
On
listener,
I
spoke
to
rosanne
palacios
at
and
she
suggested
that
the
organization
send
a
letter,
okay
to
her
with
the
mission
vision.
All
of
that
stuff,
you
can
grab
that
off
of
the
by-laws
and
and
ask
for
you
know
somebody,
okay,
that
she
may.
C
B
I'll
reach
out
to
roseanne,
I
know
her
well.
She
was
my
english
teacher
back
at
my
son's
theme
days,
so
yeah.
A
I
I
We
have
a
social
media
campaign.
Yesterday,
two
days
ago
we
shot
a
marketing
video.
We
had
a
short
collaboration
with
jeff
raquenze
she's,
one
of
our
partners,
which.
I
Production
right,
hopefully
we'll
have
it
we'll,
have
it
ready
for
next
week.
During
generally,
I
attended
two
conferences,
literally,
of
course,
the
first
one,
the
third
hispanic
texas
hispanic
farmer,
rancher
inventory.
I
And
surges
evenings
in
terms
of
current
maintenance,
our
garden,
which
is
the
trend,
is
blood
in
the
vitamin,
has
been
cleared
completely
clear
and
implanted
our
mindful
garlic,
margarine.
I
How
we
have
approximately
two
fifteen
three
hundred
plants
to
ready
to
to
to
plant
it
or
either
send
it
to
the
farmers,
market
and
people
who
are
working?
We're
going
to
talk
about
that
too.
We
have
an
inventory
of
17,
approximately
70
different
plants,
flowers
and
vegetables.
I
We
have,
I
think
we
have
strong
relationship
with
the
foreign
market
right
now
we
have
been
participating
for
four
months.
You
know,
let's
talk
about
our
criticized
sales.
We
launched
a
private
site
sale
campaign
for
a
past
change.
I
The
problem
to
recruit
between
eight
to
10
people,
I'm
thinking
in
this
name
for
the
on
the
program
yeah
from
planting
to
harvesting
at
home
in
gardening
crash
course.
I
The
idea
is
to
get
help
from
eight
to
ten
people,
community
individuals
who
can
come
to
our
garden
and
work
and
learn
at
the
same
time
for
12
centuries
right
at
the
end
of
the
program,
we
can
meet
with
them
to
start
our
own
gardens
at
home
and
I'm
thinking
as
well
by
right
that
raised
47
inches
by
35.
Something
like
that
and
we.
I
C
I
I
I
C
I
Request
your
support,
your
guidance
in
order
to
achieve
the
design
leaders
agreement.
I
Is
that
now
that
we
have
harvested,
we
faced
the
first
problem
right,
because
actually
one
of
our
gardeners
had
to
take
the
tomato
20
20
to
30
pounds
of
tomato
to
her
fridge,
because
we
don't
have
a
fridge
installed
in
something
in
our
inner
environment
right.
So
I
can.
A
A
Also
doing
a
class
coach
boom
is
for
some
clarity
on
the
storage
and
the
the
cold
room
and
on
the
planting
you
know.
If
anyone
has
any
comments
on
or
any
concerns
about,
the
300
to
250.
I
think
it's
a
good
investment,
small
investment
for
the
manpower
we
can
get
women
power.
We
can
get
also
in
this
vault
in
this
volunteer
group
that
jose
very
much
needs,
and
the
first
point
on
the
case
a
little
bit.
A
Of
this
this
time,
disagreement,
I
think
we
went
over
needing
to
everyone,
review,
make
comments
and
we'll
we'll
do
that
on
monday,
hopefully
monday,
we
start
moving
forward
and
we'll
do
that.
Outside
of
this
meeting,
though
I
think
you
know,
everyone
still
needs
some
time
to
digest
that
representing
coach
today
well
hold
on.
G
Roger
or
jose
at
least
agreement,
I
mean
right
now
you're
at
consequence,
and
we
want
you
how
to
be
housed
there
and
that's
fantastic,
but
I
also
want
to
let
you
know
that
if
you
get
large
enough
that
you
need
to
expand
and
you
need
more
land,
we
have
slaughter
park
greenhouse
available.
Anita
is
there
in
in
the
meeting
here
that,
if
you
need
to
expand,
I
would
suggest
that
we
expand
into
the
context
I
mean
to
the
slaughter
part.
G
There
is
a
an
older
building
back
there.
If
that
needs
to
probably
be
fixed
up,
but
at
least
the
gardens
can
be
used,
we
can
we
can
partition
a
section
off
over
there.
I
know
that
berman
was
planting
a
bunch
of
stuff
over
there
and
from
there
we
take
to
the
different
parks
and
plant
on
the
parts,
but
we
have
a
large
space
to
to
make
this
garden
grow,
even
even
bigger
than
what
it
is.
I
Okay,
that's
important
because
I
mean
let
me
go
ahead
and
continue
it's
important
to
know
that
we
have
this
heading.
It's
it's
only
from
harmony.
Plot
harmony
is
blood.
It's
around
2
000
square
feet,
but
we're
right
now
we're
going
to
start
hydrating
from
other
other
plots,
but
actually
almost
all
of
our
cells
have
been
from
from
harmony,
so
we
still
need
to
plan
it
mindful
and
the
other
the
other
plots.
So
at
this
point
I
think
we
are
on
the
right
path,
we're
getting
there
so
yeah.
We
are
here
to
start
planting
for
spring.
I
I
In
our
plans
for
spring
are
to
have
rodeo
tomato
cherry
tomato,
two
kinds
of
onions,
few
kinds
of
potatoes,
watermelon,
sugar,
baby
cucumbers,
melons,
carrots,
flowers
and
lots
of
things,
and
just
to
wrap
up
my
my
report
and
and
final
thoughts.
I
think
we
are
we're
having
a
good
media
social
media
campaign,
our
work
and
our
social
media
is
creating
our
creating
awareness
in
our
community.
Our
community
is
starting
to
know
us
through
our
activities,
our
progress,
and
I
think
we
need
to
keep
them
inspired.
G
I
First
sale
keep
going
right;
they
keep
going
during
the
week
and
then
saturdays
to
buy
something
that
bundle
a
repair.
I
And
we
have
been
receiving
a
lot
of
direct
messages
and
even
people
are
asking
if
we
have
schedule
hours
which
we
don't
have
because
we
don't
have
like
we
don't
have
the
office,
we
don't
have
the
story
for
already.
So
we
don't
have
the
schedule
hours
right
now,
but
we're
normally
there
in
the
afternoon.
A
What
you're
saying
about
the
office
and
kind
of
these
needs?
Can
we
set
a
meeting
for
maybe
next
week
like
on
wednesday?
Whoever
would
like
to
to
join
that?
Please
send
me
a
message
in
the
email
I
think
for
sure.
Jose
you
know.
Coach
gomez
is
to
tell
me
on
wednesday
too.
Once
we
get
the
comments
from
the
board
on
monday
right
now.
One
of
the
points
I
forgot
to
bring
up
was
wasn't
he's
in
office.
A
You
know
he
doesn't
have
an
office
there
and
so
it's
hard
to
to
really
settle
in
and
so.
A
Wanna
we
wanna
explore
and
and
keep
moving
forward
on
this.
Now
we
have
some
momentum.
G
Please
include
me
in
that
meeting.
I
know
that
we
have
the
the
carriage
house
as
your
office.
I
think
there
was
issues
with
water
or
cp
man
or
something
like
that
and
we,
I
need
to
know
what
we.
G
H
G
You
can
forward
some
sort
of
something
for
me
so
that.
F
I
will
we
have
been
working
on
it,
we're
trying
to
do
this
in-house
with
other
departments,
and
so
hopefully,
public
works
can
jump
in
and
assist
and
purchase
the
materials.
The
other
thing.
F
F
Refrigerators
that's
on
hold,
obviously,
because
we
don't
want
to
damage
the
refrigerator
not
putting
it
in
putting
it
into
a
building.
That's
not.
F
Ready,
we
need
to
get
them
in
working
condition
and
we're
thinking
of
putting
them
in
the
basement
of
the
main.
D
So
thank
you
for
bringing
that
up.
Councilman
about
that.
D
D
D
D
D
They
have
a
lot
of
good
will
in
communities,
so
I
think
there's
a
lot
of
good
work
in
this
community.
A
And
that
community
engagement,
you
know
just
integrates
the
community
and
really
keeps
the
momentum
going.
So
I
think
you
know
it
really
makes
you.
A
Think
or
beatings
that
way
you
know
it
keeps
moving
and
we
can
get
some
sort
of
brain
sessions
and
bring
certain
inceptions
out
of
this.
A
A
H
A
A
So
the
jose
can
start
applying
for
grants
and
really
good
foundations
for
for
this
organization.
So
thank
you
all
for
for
such
a
productive
meeting.
Next.
