Description
Laredo Commission for Women Meeting 121222
A

C
E
A
A
A
F
We
did
try
to
meet
us
at
committee,
but
only
me
and
Sylvia
showed
up
so
I
just
kind
of
adjusted
what
we
had
last
year
minus
we
don't
have
Hall
of
Fame
for
this
year,
but
I
think
we
should
leave
it
open
to
the
discussion
if
there's
anything
that
anyone
wants
to
add
or
modify
before
we
finalize
it
I
just
wanted
to.
Let
you
guys
know
that
we
do
need
to
get
it
approved
soon,
probably
by
a
January
meeting.
Unless
it
gets
approved.
E
F
But
we
have
to
get
it
approved
here.
First,
so
I
just
made
a
few
changes
from
the
prior
year,
I
took
out
the
Hall
of
Fame
I
did
under
the
yes
I
will
vote
campaign,
I
added,
maybe
I,
think
we've
discussed
this,
maybe
engaging
like
high
school
students
and
college
students
to
participate
in
our
local
government
by
not
only
inviting
them
to
our
commission
meetings
but
having
them
participate
in
in
Council
meetings.
F
I
think
it's
a
good
opportunity
for
us
to
kind
of,
like
maybe
Mentor
a
high
school
senior
and
invite
them
to
come
and
see
how
government
works,
because
we've
seen
how
low
our
voter
apathy
is
and
I
think
it's
because
people
just
don't
know.
What's
going
on
and
they're
not
engaged,
but
I
mean
everybody,
that's
on
a
commission,
I'm
sure
went
and
voted,
but
there's
a
large
majority
of
our
population
that
doesn't
so.
That
was
the
only
thing
that
I
wanted
to
add.
I.
G
Yeah
I'm
wondering
too
along
those
same
lines,
whether
that
whether
this
is
something
that
we
might
want
to
consider
doing
as
a
commission
and
that
is
to
establish
a
relationship
with
these
school
districts,
particularly
their
Civics
and
whatever
classroom
curriculum,
has
impacts.
The
vote
that
possibly
we
might
be
able
to
connect
to
them
yeah,
so
that
we
are
because
I
know
that
we've
talked
before
of
having
assemblies.
But
an
assembly
is
a
one-timer,
but
if
we
could
get
more,
if
we
could
get
the
school
people
more
involved
in
the
classroom
curriculum.
G
C
C
I
mean,
of
course,
since
the
AIDS
have
been
involved,
but
they
would
call
me
from
the
high
schools
from
Nixon
one
of
the
government
class
professors
he
said.
Could
you
come
and
explain
to
them
about
the
ballot?
Show
them
tell
them.
What
is
a
Democrat?
What
is
everybody
because,
most
of
the
time,
because.
C
G
If
you
could
do
it
systemically,
let
me
give
you
an
example.
This
goes
back
to
another
completely
different
topic.
When
we
were
with
the
Children's
Advocacy
Center,
what
we
did
is
we
went
as
a
Children's
Advocacy
Center.
We
went
to
the
school
districts
and
we
went
to
the
top.
We
went
to
the
superintendent
yeah
and
it
was
both
united.
We
never
were.
G
We
were
never
able
to
get
into
the
parochial
schools
really,
but
never
we
had
a
real
hard
time
getting
them
to
admit
that
child
abuse
actually
happened
in
Catholic
schools,
but
anyway,
that's
another
story.
That's
another
story.
We
were
able
to
get
both
superintendents
to
agree
and
for
the
seven
or
eight
nine
years
that
I
was
there.
We
covered
every
single
Campus,
High
School,
Middle
School
elementary.
I
F
I,
don't
think
it's
even
like
going
into
their
classrooms.
I.
Think
it's
like
having
like
a
group
of
students,
see
how
their
government
affects
them
and
let
that
sink
in
so
that
they
can
be
interested
in
and
then
share
it
with
their
peers,
because
we
can
go
in
to
their
classrooms
and
to
wear
blue
in
the
face.
But
that's
not
going
to
make
them
want
to
go
and
vote.
They
need
to
like
see.
C
C
C
The
second
one
well,
one
of
the
other
ones-
was
they
don't
want
to,
and
this
was
also
the
parent
parents
go
like
that,
so
they
didn't
want
the
child
to
do
it.
They
don't
want
to
culture,
have
to
go
to
a
jury.
Duty
I
mean
really
simple
to
explain,
because
when
I
was
at
the
head
of
a
jury,
Department
people
still
thought
that,
and
it
was
like
that.
That's
where
we
got
our
sources
from
when
he
registered
with
me
the
legislature,
the
state.
You
know
they
figured
it
out.
C
C
D
Remember
I
was
not
born
and
raised
here,
I
was
born
in
Mexico
and
we
had
civics
and
we
didn't
go
the
entire
day
until
3
30
and
we
still
had
Civics
I
mean
we
know
the
the
anthem
like.
Oh
my
God,
like
every
single
child,
like
you
know
they
stand
up
and
they
honor
the
flag
and
they
they
say
it
and
they
know.
D
D
D
G
D
Talk
to
the
suggestions
coordinator
and
how
to
embed
it
into
the
group
because
they're
the
ones
that
create
the
curriculum
for
the
high
schools
and
then
go
to
that
person
and
say
like
how
can
we
come
in,
and
you
know
like
bring
in
an
initiative
that
you
can
Implement
with
this
class
at
the
high
school
level.
So
but.
D
Them
that's
why
I
would
have
to
call
and
ask
okay.
Is
there
room
where
we
can
embed
this
I
mean
if
there's
only
one
visit,
that
the
teacher
can
go
to
a
city
council
member
to
take
up
their
students
or
a
set
of
students?
You
know
that's
a
winning
already,
so,
if
you
want
me
to
I
can
contact
the
person
for
high
school
level
and
then
we
can
see
where
she
can
embed
it
and
start
looking
into
it
and
then
make
it
a
very
startling.
C
C
I
said:
what's
the
use
of
registering
them,
if
they're
not
educated,
on
the
ballot
on
what
the
Democrats
are,
what
the
issues
are.
There
should
be
also
that
maybe
we
should
talk
to
Richard,
Raymond
and
stuff,
and
let
me
hopefully
it
extended
a
little
bit
more
that
way
they
have
they're
mandated
to
do
it.
That's
where
the
school's
going
to
say
because
we're
actually
doing
their
work.
You.
G
Know
and
if
we
were
able
to
get
into
a
classroom
across
the
board,
create
a
sweeteners
Bureau.
That
would
include
all
of
you,
but
it
would
also
includes
a
very
well
included
elected
officials.
When
we
put
out
a
call
for
volunteers,
when
we
get
this
Children's
Advocacy,
we
had
a
speaker's
Bureau
that
included.
We
had
a
forensic
interviewer.
We
had
a
a
sheriff's
deputy
investing.
They
were
all
the
investigators
from
the
sheriff's
office
from
the
county
attorney
from
the
district
attorney
from
the
police
department
from
CPS.
G
C
H
C
When
we
did
a
voter
registration
at
one
of
those
Central
Rochester's
event
is
like
hat
tense
and
give
them
options
on
what
to
educate
themselves
on
not
just
one
venue
but
have
different
tents.
I
know
it's
kind
of
hard,
but
this
was
a
success.
We
were
like
11
or
12
kids
there
and
it
was
just
connected
to
another
event.
But
if
we,
what
do
we
have
to
look
at
40,
000,
less
voters
in
Laredo.
G
B
A
A
H
A
You
know,
and
that
would
be
a
perfect
opportunity
to
show
students,
because
when
it's
there
and
I
I
it
is
for
the
safety
of
the
children
they're
like
walk
around
walk
around
and
it's
you
know
Safety
and
Security,
but
it's
a
good
opportunity.
It's
like
before
they
open
or
maybe
after
it
closes
I
mean
you
know
after
it's
after
hours
after
school,
but
if
they
would
allow
like
the
students
to
just
walk
around
and
see
what
does
it
entail
like
what
is
going
on?
Why
is
it
because
they're
just
walking?
C
H
B
B
D
D
C
Used
to
work
very
closely
with
the
state
commission
and
when
they
had
their
in
September,
they
would
have
a
convention
and
they
had
they.
It
was
fantastic
and
they
have
two
and
boots
for
anything
that
you
wanted
to
do
as
a
commission
and
they
had.
If
you
want
to
run
a
campaign,
why
women
should
get
involved
in
politics
and
they
actually
were
organizations
that
would
help
us.
D
In
the
City
of
Laredo,
like
should
become
make
like
a
YouTube,
video,
educational
or
like
Facebook,
live
and
say
like
these
are
the
runners
for
this.
You
know,
city,
council
and,
like
you
know,
also
educate,
because
if
they're
not
going
to
come
to
you
they're
not
going
to
look
for
you
because
this
category,
these
are
the
candidates
in
this
category.
These
are
the
other
candidates,
because
now
that's
what
kids
learn
18.
H
D
D
C
Another
level,
but
it
would
be,
do
it
number
one
do
we
want
to
do?
We
want
to
run
with
this
number
two,
how
I
think
the
commission
for
women
would
really
make
a
difference.
Educating
locally
I
think
that
we're
going
to
be
nonpartisan
I
think
that
women
have
a
big,
Advantage,
I,
think
that
they
will
listen
to
us
and-
and
we
want
to
reach
out
to
not
only
the
kids.
Of
course
we
need
those
young
voters,
but
even
to
those
complacent
voters
I,
you
know,
I
was
talking
to
police
officers.
C
I
was
talking
to
teachers,
I
was
talking
to
people
with
their
own
businesses
and
they
didn't
want
to
vote
and
and
I.
You
know
you
get
really
angry
and
you
want
to
say
truthfully
inside
I'm
thinking
how
stupid
can
you
be,
but
I
can't
say
that
and
I
had
no
compassion
for
them,
but
I
had
to
try
to
understand
where
they
were
coming
from,
and
none
of
it
made
sense.
So
misinformation
is
what
is
happening
and
we're
getting
worse.
Laredo
the
complacency.
The
numbers
are
higher.
C
If
we
could
form
a
committee
and
and
say,
let's
figure
out
what
our
goal
is
going
to
be,
and
then
what
can
we
do
to
get
there?
The
ideas
of
how
we
can
do
that
I
think
if
we
stand
a
big
advantage
and
I
give
to
your
stuff.
That's
good
and
I
really
think
that's
a
very
good
idea.
I
could
just
share
with
you
that
people
like
to
say
no,
no,
the
people
on
the
ballot
and
I
know
I've
said
this
before
you
know
at
the
gym,
where
I
go,
I
mean.

H
C
Have
a
little
way
of
communicating
with
each
other
are
the
events
that
maybe
we
would
want
to
participate
in
as
commission
for
women
and
wear
our
glasses
I
mean
there's
a
lot
that
I've
that
I've
written
I
went.
Oh
I,
didn't
know
that
happened
that
maybe
you
yeah
you
guys
could
send
to
us.
E
C
G
Remember
that
I
was
trying
when
the
year
I
was
chair.
I
had
wanted
to,
because
that's
something
that
I
think
is
really
helpful.
I
wanted
to
stay
in
touch
with
all
of
you.
By
sending
you
periodically
and
I
was
told
I
couldn't
do
it.
I
couldn't
even
do
an
email
to
all
of
you,
and
then
we
can't
have
meetings,
because
if
you
have
a
forum,
it
has
to
be
reported.

Times
they
don't
know.
Last
weekend
this
week,
I
emailed
the
secretary
and
she's.
