Description
Library Advisory Committee Meeting, 04/27/2022
A
It
is
five
minute
five
with
what
eight
minutes
and
we
can
start
our
meeting.
I'm
gonna
check.
We
have
a.
B
C
C
C
C
A
Okay,
next
item
on
the
agenda,
communications
and
announcements.
D
Okay,
so
I
am
the
librarian,
the
proud
librarian.
D
Mckendree
patrol
salinas
branch
library,
I'm
here
in
lieu
of
missouri's
library
director
because
she's
out
there
in
fort
worth
enjoying
the
texas
library
association
conference.
So
I'm
happy
to
see
all
of
you
again.
She
did.
Let
me
know
that
there
were
some
employees
regarding
our
collection,
development
policy
here
at
the
library.
So
in
front
of
you,
you
do
have
some
of
the
pages
that
were
taken
from
our
policy
handbook,
which
is
available
online.
D
That
talks
a
little
bit
about
how
we
make
our
selections,
and
I
know
some
of
you
are
librarians
and
and
know
you
know
what
collection
development
means,
but
basically
it
means
that
we,
we
are
very
thoughtful
about
what
we
put
into
our
collection,
but
we
also
want
to
make
sure
that
we
are
giving
free
access
to
library
materials
on
all
types
of
topics,
regardless
of
you
know
whether
they
are
talking
about
contra,
controversial
issues,
I
think
maybe
something
that
might
be
different
or
new
information
to
some
of
the
school
librarians
is
that
at
the
public
library,
selections
are
made
that
that
have
to
reflect
the
interest
of
the
entire
population,
but
also
that
we
do
not
pull
anything,
because
somebody
is
offended
okay.
D
So
this
is
a
major
difference
here,
and
I
know
that
in
recent
times
texas
government
has
maybe
I'm
trying
to
choose
my
words
very
carefully,
but
they
basically
said
that
there
are
certain
books
and
resources
that
are
not
appropriate
for
children.
D
D
It
goes
on
to
go
through
this
election
crisis
process,
which
includes
so
much
right
and
includes
all
these
things
that
we're
familiar
with.
You
know
different
styles
depth
accuracy
authority
how
old
it
is,
but
also
if
it's
an
older
book,
is
it
a
classic
word.
We
have
to
look
at
all
of
those
things,
appropriateness
of
subject
matter,
currency,
all
kinds
of
those
things,
and
this
applies
not
only
to
books
but
for
to
every
format.
D
However,
they
will
not
be
excluded
solely
on
the
basis
of
anticipated
approval
or
disapproval
right,
so
we're
building
a
collection
to
serve
all
of
the
readers,
and
the
responsibility
lies
with
the
parents
and
guardians
to
ensure
that
this
election
is
made.
A
selection
of
books
to
check
out
is
appropriate
for
that
child.
B
D
C
G
We're
going
to
get
rid
of
a
book,
but
if
somebody,
if
they
challenge
a
book
and
that's
where
your
next
page
is
that
we
have
to
have
that
in
place.
In
case
someone,
a
parent
or
someone
comes
to
us
and
says
that
they
do
not
like
a
particular
book
in
the
collection,
but
we
can't
just
remove
it
just
because
of
the
one
paragraph
we
have
to
go
through
the
process.
G
B
E
B
G
C
E
I
I
want
to
tell
you
I
I
find
books
that
you
discard
and
I
bought
one,
that
the
title
was
in
espanol,
which
was
not
very
nice
word,
but
it's
not
bad,
but
I
went
inside
and
it
did
have
that
word
and
it's
a
translation
and
I
found
it
in
english.
E
E
D
A
parody
of
good
night
moon
that
kind
of
thing,
and
if
we
had
it
it
was
probably
it
was
in
the
adult
collection,
I'm
sure.
E
D
D
B
A
You
know
that
I
just
was
hoping
that
that
the.
A
Not
as
a
reflection
of
the
board
or
anything
in
my
opinion,
ridiculous,
so
I
just
wanted
to
see
what
our
policy
said
and
to
where
we
don't
start.
You
know
some
sort
of
which
trial
book
of
literature
yeah,
which
is
like
you
just
pointed
out,
yeah
award-winning,
bestseller,
yes,
literature.
Yes,
that's
my
that's
my
whole
point.
F
D
To
see
that
and
say
I
want
to
make
a,
I
want
to
challenge
this
book,
or
I
want
to
ask
questions
first
of
all
why
this
book
is
here.
We
do
have
a
perspective
and
if
we
take
a
look
at
this
other
attachment,
which
also
comes
from
the
policy
manual,
the
reconsideration
of
library,
materials
requests
and
you
can
see
on
the
other
side,
it
has
the
library
bill
of
rights
very
important,
but
the
reconsideration.
A
D
Is
a
way
for
the
patron
who
has
questions
about
it?
First
of
all,
they
would
probably
talk
to
a
librarian
first
and
I've
had
people
come
up
as
a
librarian.
You
know
they'd
come
and
ask
me
a
question.
You
know:
do
you
think
this
book
belongs
here
or
this
movie
here
and
we
all
have
a
conversation
about
it
and
honestly,
I've
never
had
anyone
fill
this
out
at
my
location.
A
That's
my
next
question
is:
has
any
at
any
of
the
locations
any?
I
guess.
Maybe
a
report
for
next
time.
Have
there
already
been
anybody
submitted
a
request
for
any
type
of
like
you
said
here
either
a
book
or
multimedia,
because
then
you
set
your.
B
A
There
ever
been
any
such
requests
and
I
think
it's
something
that
I
would
like
to
see.
I
don't
know
how
the
committee
feels
as
far
as
get
a
report
when
we
have
these
other
reports.
A
To
include
as
a
standard
you
know,
I
think
this
is.
I
think
it's
timely
in
my
opinion,
something
that
we
need
to
know
about.
A
Because
we
hate
to
see
some,
I
know
there's
been
at
certain
times
throughout
history,
where
I
think
the
biggest
best
sellers
of
all
time
like
even
to
kill
a
mockingbird
came
under
scrutiny.
You
know-
and
I
shouldn't
be
in
my
opinion
again-
I'm
not
expressing
the
back
of
the
board.
We
should
be
doing
that.
A
I
I
just
don't
think
we
should.
I
don't
know
how
the
librarians
feel
you
guys
really
work
with
this
more,
but
I
mean
I
did
the
historical
line.
I
did
work
in
journalism,
so
I
believe
in
freedom
of
press
and
freedom
of
speech.
So
I
just
think
that
when
I
started
hearing
this
around
the
country
I
was
and
then
when
I,
when
I
saw.
A
B
D
Know
I
I
love
that
it's
on
the
agenda,
because
this
is
an
issue
that's
near
and
dear
to
my
heart.
I
would
like
to
invite
you
to
our
next
band
books
club,
which
is
every
fall
at
the
mosque
library.
This
will
be
our,
I
believe
our
fourth
year
this
year,
I'll
have
to
check,
but-
and
we
do
indicate
you
know
we
let
people
know
on
the
flyers.
We
recommend
these
books
for
this
age
group.
D
But
if
the
parent
says
I
I
was,
I
have
no
problem
with
my
12
year
old,
joining
this
hello
great
come
on
in,
and
so
we
started
with
classics.
We've
looked
at
graphic
novels.
We've
looked
at
books
about
race
this
year,
we're
going
to
be
looking
at
books
that
focus
on
the
theme
of
dystopian
literature
right.
So
a
lot
of
the
end
of
the
world
stuff,
but
books
that
have
been
challenged,
and
so
we
come
together
and
to
be
honest
right
now,
it
started
out
with
a
lot
of
teens.
E
D
So
I'll.
D
Have
a
dystopian
book
club:
this
is
sort
of
the
first
part
of
it,
but
it's
not
the
challenged
ones.
We're
going
to
have
another
four
books
coming
up
in
fall.
I
believe
we're
going
to
start
in
august
and
it's
going
to
be
august
to
december,
so
we
are
going
to
read
things
like
franz
kafka's,
the
trial.
You
know
very
interesting
and
well
see,
and
the
thing
is
when
we
come
together
in
the
library
to
discuss
a
book
it.
Nobody
is
saying
other
people
should
think
like
them
right.
D
We
all
come
together
and
we
talk
about
the
merits
of
the
book.
We
can
even
say
you
know
what
I
don't
think
this
is
appropriate
for
a
middle
school
and
we
kind
of
talk
about
those
gray
areas
right,
and
I
think
this
is
one
of
the
the
strengths
of
the
library
to
be
a
place
where
we're
just
not
saying
you
know,
get.
D
You
know
what
now
that
I
know
more
about
this
or
the
background
about
you
know
behind
this.
I
feel
really
good
about.
Maybe
this
book
has
you
know
it's
it's
about
drug
use
and
addiction,
and
they
might
say
you
know
if
a
kid
is
going
through,
that
that
might
be
appropriate
for
that
particular
kid
rusher
right
and
I
say
kid
because
a
lot
of
the
young
adults
are
kids
to
me.
But
yes,
really.
E
D
D
That
you
know
we
have
which
we
did
read
the
first
year
of
the
the
banned
books
club.
B
F
E
B
E
B
It
was
the
adventures
of
huckleberry,
that's
the
language
that
was,
that
was
the
condition.
B
A
E
A
To
if
you
were
to
refer
to,
for
example,
the
great
gatsby,
oh
yeah,
we're
gay,
but
it's
not
meant
no
and
term
that's
used
nowadays.
You
know
it's
just
saying
that
joyful
people
change
me.
It's
a
multiple
meaning
words
put
it
that
way.
A
A
To
clarify,
I
thank
you
for
the
report.
I
don't
know
if
anybody
else
has
any
other
questions
or
concerns
about.
D
So
I
want
to
make
sure
that,
because
the
report
is
requested
that
mr
lisa
addresses
it
and
is
reports
on
what's
happening,
yeah
reports
on
the.
D
D
So
the
committee-
and
I
don't
know
if
the
committee-
I
don't
think
that
they
have
in
this
part
of
it-
maybe
it'll-
be
for
next
time,
but
there's
another
part
of
the
oh,
no
it's
here.
It's
on
the
collection,
development
policy,
the
first
one
I
showed
you
on
the
back
page
page
35,
and
you
can
see
that
the
library
selection
committee
is
made
up
of
a
library,
administrator
reference,
librarian,
a
public
services
librarian
and
a
designated
member
of
the
library
advisory
committee.
B
D
A
process
for
it-
and
I
can
tell
you
in
my
own
experience
not
that
it
got
to
this
level.
It
didn't
become
a
form
or
part
of
the
committee.
But
I
remember
a
parent
coming
to
me
and
saying
you
know
this
book
appears
to
be
in
the
wrong
area
and
I
think
it
had
a
bad
word
on
one
of
the
pages
and
it
was
the
chosen.
D
So
on
that
level,
on
a
one-to-one
level,
if
there's
an
error
made
and
something
that
can
be
resolved
yeah,
we
can
go
ahead
and
do
that
because
a
lot
of
stuff
is
automated
in
the
library
right,
the
labeling
and
what
collection.
A
A
Okay,
no
thank
you
for
that
yeah
and
we
can
have
that
report
and
and
then
I
just
think
it's
something
that
we
need
to
ensure
that
we
have
reviewed
and
are
comfortable
with
as
a
library.
Only
because
I
think
it's
something
like
I
mentioned
is
very
timely
and
is
going
to
be
coming
up
more
and
more
as
it
already
is
across
the
country.
C
D
Okay,
so
I
think
we'll
start
with
the
checklist
we
do
have
the
checklist
or.
F
State
report
I'll
just
use
the
thirteen
signature,
so
we
can
submit
it.
D
It
okay
and
so
yeah
we'll
go
ahead
since
the
next
item
in
the
packet
will
go
with
the
quarterly
report,
so
it
does
cover
january
february
and
march.
E
E
E
Still
having
a
spanish
book,
I'm
sure
she.
D
E
D
E
A
C
C
With
money-
and
she
said
there
have
the
city's
having
their
meeting
here
on
the
water
and
so
that
they
have
to
come
and
fix
it.
Remember
yes,.
F
F
A
E
B
D
Historically,
that
branch
has
been
very
strong
for
adult
programs
like
through
literacy,
volunteers,
it's
currently
being
being
supervised
by
a
librarian
temporarily,
someone
from
joey
gala
we're
currently
searching
for
replacement
for
that
position,
because
the
last
librarian
did
so
well
that
she
moved
up.
D
So
that
could
also
be
something
that
I
think
once
we
have
someone
who
is
there
and
dedicated
to
that
branch.
We'll
we'll
see
improvement.
B
E
In
any
other
times
and
the
flyers,
I
see
one
about
scaled
down.
E
E
E
D
B
D
The
in
the
past,
if
I
do
remember
correctly,
they
did
schedule
the
esl
and
citizenship
classes
and
all
of
those
throughout
the
day,
because
that
branch
doesn't
have
evening
or
working
hours
and
they
got
good
attendance.
So
it's
hard
to
say
why
it
wasn't
well
attended
yeah.
But
it's
something
that
we'll
let
miss
sonies
know
about,
and
maybe
she
can
speak
better
to
it,
because
I'm
not
really
sure
why
that
didn't
work,
because
I
think
it's
a.
B
D
D
A
All
right
we'll
go
to
recent
upcoming
library,
programs
and
services.
E
Yes,
that
was
april,
23rd
and-
and
I
got
after
roxanne,
because
why
is
her
name
not
here
at
all
yeah
and
there
were
a
lot
of
other
ones.
Even
I
I
had
one
here
and
I
and
I
you
know
acknowledged
all
all
of
them
because
they
helped
they.
E
B
E
To
them,
yes,
I
think
it's
only
fair,
I
mean
this
is
and-
and
I
was
very
happy
to
see
so
many
it
was-
it
was
that
the
multi-purpose
room
was
full
and
the
parents
and
the
grandparents
and
they
were
teachers-
and
so
many
librarians
came.
You
know
from
different
schools
and
it
was
very
beautiful
and
then
the
points
were
very
good.
Most
of
the
students
read
their
own
bonds.
All
of
all
of
these
points,
most
of
them
one
or
two
said
no.
I'm
too
shy
and.
