Description
Veterans Affairs Committee Meeting 051022
A
Let
everybody
arise
and
for
the
pledge
of
allegiance.
C
Marshall,
can
we
have
a
roll
call?
Yes,
sir
american
legion
post
59
mr
gummies
comedy
yesterday,
sir,
that
he
has
an
appointment
today
at
nine
if
he
gets
out
as
he'll
make
his
way
as
soon
as
he
gets
out
catholic
war
veterans,
mister,
sergio
absent
he
he
didn't.
C
A
Thank
you
marsha.
We
also
have
president
councilman.
C
Council,
member
torres
and
council
member
perez
sent
me
a
text
a
few
minutes
ago
that
she
will
be
here
she's
just
running
a
little
late,
but
she's
on
her
way.
A
Well,
I
know
that
has
never
been
in
the
agenda,
but
we
have
made
it
a
a
point
to
do
a
prayer.
Excuse
me
a
prayer
before
we
start
the
meeting,
so
everybody
rise
for
a
prayer.
D
D
May
the
good
work
that
they
did
be
rewarded
by
your
love
and
looked
upon
with
admiration
that
these
deeds
that
may
not
have
been
in
vain
for
this
land
may
prosper
with
lasting
peace
throughout
the
world,
for
there
are
other
countries
that
cannot
enjoy
the
freedoms
we
do
heavenly
father
who
judges
over
all
nations.
We
pray
guide
our
work
in
this
meeting
and
all
of
our
days
sing
thy
peace
to
our
nation
and
other
nations
hathen.
The
fulfillment
of
thy
promise
for
peace
that
shall
have
no
end.
D
We
pray
for
those
who
serve
our
people
and
guard
our
public
welfare
that
they
might
be
blessed.
They
may
be
enabled
to
discharge
their
duties
honestly
and
well.
We
pray
for
our
comrades
that
thy
help.
They
may
observe
the
strictest
justice
and
keep
alight
the
freedom.
The
fires
strive
earnestly
for
the
spirit
of
democracy
and
preserve
untarnished,
our
loyalty
to
god
our
country.
A
A
A
D
I
would
like
to
promote
a
better
lifestyle
for
the
veterans
that
have
been
forgotten
for
those
that
were
left
have
left
school
and
the
opportunity
to
learn
in
the
what
in
the
past
they
could
not.
The
loreto
college
is
a
vocational,
has
a
vocational
classes,
along
with
the
accredited
courses
for
the
couch
potatoes
that
we
think
they're
too
old,
to
sit
in
class.
D
We
take
a
course
in
what
you
always
wanted.
Now
that
all
are
retired,
off-white,
retired
or
disabled
have
extra
time.
They
can
watch
a
computer
monitor.
Instead
of
a
tv
we
can
learn
to
play
the
guitar.
We
can
learn
to
weld.
We
can
learn
woodwork,
we
can
learn
plumbing,
we
can
learn
different
things
in
the
vocational
shop
and
the
radio
college
offers
these
to
veterans
some
of
our
veterans
who
don't
qualify
for
this.
We
have
a
guest
to
learn
more
and
expand
our
horizons,
and
we
have
the
experts
in
finance
at
the
laura
college.
D
Stella
and
ms
ramirez,
can
you
take
the
mic
stella
mrs
ramirez
are
from
the
financial
aid
department
of
the
radio
college.
They
will
explain
a
little
more
on
what
the
veterans
qualify
and
how
they
can
get
qualified,
starting
with
the
dd214.
E
F
F
Good
morning
my
name
is
estella
garcia,
I'm
the
va
coordinator
at
laredo
college
and
my
job.
There
is
to
help
all
military
families
veterans
and
their
dependents
to
be
able
to
use
their
benefits.
F
We
do
refer
our
veterans
for
other
assistance.
We
do
have
the
financial
aid
office
in
case
they
have
already
exhausted
their
benefits.
We
do
refer
them
over
to
the
financial
aid
office
and
to
ms
ramirez,
who
provides
a
scholarship
from
la
marconi
vergara.
F
G
G
Yes,
I
do
manage
the
largest
scholarship
program
in
at
laredo
college
and
it
is
funded
by
the
graciousness
of
the
lamar
bernie
vergara
trust
and
where
they
are
very
pro-veterans.
As
a
matter
of
fact,
we
we
service
a
tri-county
of
jim
hogg,
laredo
and
webb
county
now.
G
With
that
said,
mr
pearl
is
a
the
one
of
the
trustees
is
a
a
veteran.
I
believe
he
is
from
the
korean
arena
and
I
believe
he
was
a
army
ranger
with
that
said,
I
also
want
to
remember.
I
want
you
to
remind
all
of
you
that
the
gi
bill
was
initiated
in
1944,
specifically
for
veterans
and
with
the
along
with
ms
garcia.
G
We
usually
team
up,
because
if
anything,
laredo
college
does
not
forget
our
veterans,
we
keep
them
ever-present
in
our
minds.
We're
very
grateful
for
the
service
that
you've
provided
and
the
sacrifice
with
that
said.
My
office
is
always
open
to
all
all
laredo
veterans
and
the
of
the
of
the
surrounding
communities.
G
A
Thank
you.
Thank
you,
excellent
information.
May
I
just
say
that,
could
you
give
us
your
contact
information?
This
meeting
is
being
recorded
and
I
believe
it
is
here
somewhere
at
one
time.
Is
that
correct
marshall?
Yes,.
A
G
F
Yes,
I'm
going
to
leave
some
cards
and
some
informational
flyers
and
it
does
provide
our
contact
information,
our
phone
number,
our
email,
any
any
questions.
You
know
that
they
might
have.
They
can
just
contact
me
there
at
the
office.
As
mr
alvarez
mentioned
at
the
beginning,
you
know.
Sometimes
we
do
have
veterans
who
have
don't
have
a
copy
of
their
dd214
with
that
we
do
work
with
the
webb
county
veterans
office
and
they
assist
in
providing
them
or
getting
them
access
to
a
dd214.
F
Yes,
it's
at
the
pena
office,
it's
room
131
and
it's
here
at
the
laredo
college
we
have
a
phone
number,
that's
direct
to
our
office,
which
is
956-764-5768.
C
G
Yes,
sir,
they
not,
they
may
qualify.
You
want
to
tell
them
about
financial
aid.
Yes,
they
may
qualify
for
three
different
fundings.
F
Yes,
we
do,
if
a
veteran
is
that
a
100
disability,
they
do
provide
us
with
their
letter
and
we
help
them
apply
for
benefits
if
they
still
have
remaining
entitlement.
If
not,
we
do
refer
them
over
to
our
financial
aid
office.
We
help
them
apply
for
financial
aid
or
also
the
lbb
scholarship,
when
they're
at
100
disability
rating.
D
Got
a
the
closing
comment:
estella
is
in
charge
of
the
financial
aid
program
and
if
the
veteran
does
not
qualify
for
financial
aid
to
pass
the
veteran
over
to
ms
lamirez,
mr
amita's
will
get
the
funding
for
his
scholarship
and
we
got
it
on
there.
A
D
And
if
they
don't,
if
the
veteran
does
not
have
the
d214
they'll
refer
them
over
to.
D
Garcia
for
his
office
and
since
we
all
represent
a
a
group,
a
veterans
group,
it's
up
to
us
to
pass
the
word
to
the
veterans
with
that
we
thank
you.
G
A
A
If
I
had
not
filed
my
dd214
back
in
19,
whenever
it
was,
I
would
have
been
a
lot
more
difficult
to
get
out
of
the
situation
that
I
found
myself
back
in
the
early
80s,
so
we
recommend
that
you
file
the
dd214
with
the
county
clerk's
office.
Thank
you
very
much
marshall.
I'd
like
to
recognize
that
mr
salazar
is
present
and
council
member
perez
is
present.
Also.
A
C
A
A
We
really
appreciate
their
service
and
you
know
we
just
fall
into
too
quickly
and
that's
that's
a
fact,
and
that's
one
of
the
reasons
that
we
have
this
committee
that
we
can.
We
can
speak
and
try
to
bring
items
to
the
agenda
that
will
that
will
help
the
veterans
and
for
the
for
the
good
and
wellness
of
veterans
and
and
that's
why
we
have
this
this
committee
meeting
or
this
committee
assembled,
and
so
we
thank
you
for
being
president.
All
of
you
excuse
me
first
item
in
the
agenda.
H
H
At
the
golden
corral
we
had
who
works
at
the
laredo
vet
center,
and
we
enlisted
a
total
of
81
veterans
who
were
interested
in
receiving
benefits
and
services
and
to
add
them
to
the
the
roles
at
the
at
the
clinic
that
I
know
so
far.
26
of
them
have
already
been
counseled
and
I
don't
know
what
the
status
is
of,
whether
they
got
services
or
not,
but
we
had
81
and
so
far,
26
have
been
spoken
to
and
the
whole
purpose.
H
C
J
A
We'll
do
item
number
four
and
then
we'll
go
back
to
item
three.
Do
we
have
a
motion
to
escape
to
item
number
four.
K
D
A
K
L
David
lopez
for
the
record,
I
brought
these
two
items
up,
because
I
felt
that
there's
some
sometimes
on
meetings
that
I
simply
have
we've
seen
that
some
people
just
step
out
and
if
we
can
just
get
it
down
to
an
hour,
I
think
it
will
be
ideal
where
we
keep
track
of
all
the
items
and
then,
if
possible,
to
make
it
available.
We
assume
I
know
last
meeting
I
couldn't
be
here.
I
was
out
of
town
and
I
wanted
to
just
make
sure
that
if
that
is
possible,
we
can
make
it
happen.
A
I
don't
I
cannot
answer
the
question,
maybe
neither
one
but
the
one
assumed
I
I
don't
don't
have
any
information
on
that.
Much
of
the
heavens.
C
Okay,
a
few
months
ago,
when
the
pandemic
was
real
hard
here,
it
was
recommended
to
go
soon.
So
then
I,
through
your
direction,
I
called
everyone
and
most
of
the
people
said
that
it
would
be
difficult
for
them
to
do
it
soon
because
of
difficulties
with
computer,
including
myself,
but
mr
lopez.
Well,
we
could
try
to
do
something
like
that
for
for
the
future,
I
would
need
assistance
to
get
it
going,
but
we
could
attempt
to
do
it.
A
E
The
thing
with
zoom
I
know
the
city
we've
had
technical
difficulties
and-
and
it
is
a
little
bit
difficult
to
have
the
zoom
come
in
here,
but
we
can
talk
to
all
metal
baskets
to
see
if,
if
he
can
make
that
happen
for
us,
I
don't
know
what
he
would
need
to
do.
I
think
he
needs
to
set
something
up
here,
so
if
we
can
bring
it
back
to
the
next
meeting
of
that
and
as
far
as
the
hour,
my
recommendation
would
be.
E
We
make
it
an
hour
with
the
option
to
have
like
maybe
two
up
to
30
minutes
extended
by
motion,
because
if
you
look
at
the
times
for
some
of
the
meetings,
they
go
a
little
over
an
hour.
So
maybe
you
know
it's
an
hour,
but
then
once
we're
getting
on
the
hour
or
you
can
motion
up
to
like
two
15-minute
increments-
that's
kind
of
how
we
do
it
at
council.
E
We
have
we're
supposed
to
stop
at
10
30,
but
then
we
motion
to
to
carry
it
to
11.
Sometimes
so
it
gives
us
an
extra
30
minutes,
so
maybe
an
hour
with
the
option
to
extend
an
additional
30
minutes.
E
L
Think
that
would
be
ideal
if
you
can
have
the
option
for
30
minutes
away.
Everybody
knows
that
okay,
and
that
just
be
sorry,
and
I
think
that
again
I
think
that
would
be
ideal
as
miss
perez
just
say,
but
if
we
have
the
option
to
go
an
extra
30
minutes
that
way,
we
know
exactly
what
time
we're
getting
out
of
here.
L
I
think
the
the
most
important
thing
or
the
point
that
we're
trying
I'm
trying
to
make
is
that
we,
we
know
exactly
what
time
we're
going
to
get
out
of
here,
because
you
know
some
of
us
are
working.
You
know,
other
people
have
other
things
to
do
and
whatnot,
so
I
think
that'll
be
ideal.
Thank
you.
Ma'am.
C
Another
thing,
sir,
as
you
could
see,
though,
the
meeting
that
took
two
hours
we
didn't
have
meetings
before
that
because
of
december
and
january
february.
That's
when
there
was
spike
in
kovitz,
so
we
cancelled
those
two
so
that
that
is
her
longest
meeting.
But
our
agenda
was
very
very
big
that
day
it
was
very
long.
It
was
long,
that's
what,
but
we
could
do,
that
we
can
leave
it
for
an
hour.
If
we
there's
business
that
needs
to
be
talked
about,
we
could
extend
it
30
minutes
and
that's
it
or.
E
A
For
the
betterment
and
wellness
of
the
veterans,
the
warriors
don't
punch
a
clock
and
we're
going
to
put
a
time
restraint
on
how
we're
going
to
be
able
to
accomplish
what
we
are
meant
to
accomplish
in
improving
the
quality
of
life
for
our
veterans
and
put
a
time
limit
on
it.
It's
it's
kind
of
concerning
to
me.
A
We
have
information
that
we
just
got
today
and-
and
we
can
have
that
multiple
times
in
a
meeting
and
very
well
go
beyond
that.
It
hasn't
happened,
but
just
one
time
I
believe
most
of
the
time,
and
I
can't
see
the
the
screen
over
there.
So
I
don't
know
what
the
average
of
the
meeting
is.
But
our
purpose
here
is
to
to
find
ways
to
improve
the
quality
of
life
to
our
warriors
and
by
putting
a
time
limit
on
it
would
could
hinder
it.
A
But
I
do
understand
that
we
all
have
responsibilities
elsewhere
and
and
we
need
to
be
in
other
places,
but
we
need
to
to
find
a
place
where
we
just
try
to
move
on
to
the
meeting
as
much
as
possible.
I
think
that
it
hasn't
happened
that
many
times,
but
I
would
refer
to
the
wishes
of
the
committee
and
will
put
this
to
a
vote
and
whatever
they
like
to
do.
A
So
we
need
to
be
more
flexible
than
just
being
able
to
to
add
another
half
hour,
and
then
we
need
to
stop.
We
don't
have
agendas
that
are
very
heavy.
As
the
city
council
does.
You
know,
and-
and
I
understand
that
we
all
have
responsibilities,
but
we
also
volunteered
to
serve
this
committee
for
the
benefit
of
our
warriors.
I
I
A
You
thank
you
and
that's
why
I
have
not
imposed
a
three-minute
rule
on
people
that
come
in
and
and
speak
on
behalf
of
of
of
the
betterment
and
of
the
veterans,
but
we
we
have
to
understand
that
we
all
have
to
be
able
to
be
some
other
places,
and
we
certainly
understand
that.
But
I
just
want
to
put
that
in
front
of
you,
so
we
can
understand
what
our
goal
and
where
our
mission
is
here,
when
we're
in
the
service,
we
did
not
punch
the
clock.
E
One
of
the
things
that
we
haven't
utilized
as
much
as
the
option
to
call
like
a
special
meeting
or
to
hold
like
a
workshop,
so
we
could
also
say
you
know
the
regular
meetings
are
going
to
be
an
hour
with
you
know,
15
minutes
or
30
minutes,
which
wouldn't
necessarily
require
us
to
cut
off
anything.
If
we
wanted
to
call
another
meeting
in
two
weeks
and
say
you
know
what
we
haven't
finished,
we
can
call
a
special
meeting
in
two
weeks
or
we
can
hold
a
workshop.
E
Then
we
could
also
always
do
that,
because
council
meets
every
two
weeks,
so
we
can
put
on
the
agenda
to
have
a
special
workshop
from
a
certain
time.
Maybe,
like
you
know,
at
the
public
library,
from
three
to
six
or
seven
and
talk
about
another
issue
more
heavily.
A
There's
certainly
a
lot
of
options
available
to
us
so,
but
all
of
you,
all
of
us
here
are
here
to
to
take
care
of
the
business
of
the
veterans,
so
I
will
entertain
a
motion
to
approve
this.
This
item.
A
A
E
B
B
May
I
make
an
emotion
which
is-
and
I
may
be
recognized,
which
is
very
similar
to
what
councilor
perez
mentioned.
I
think
that,
as
as
the
chair
when
we
have
people
come
before
the
committee
for
public
comments,
for
example,
we
had
mr
sandra
ramirez
here
today
give
a
presentation
right
during
public
comments,
and
it
is,
I
guess,
recognizable
that
you're
not
limiting
them
to
the
three
minutes,
but
I
think
that
it
would
have
been
better
handled
if
she
would
have
come
made
her
presentation
briefly.
B
The
way
she
did-
and
maybe
this
committee
or
through
your
leadership
like
councilmember
pettis,
recommended
that
there
be
a
workshop
to
further
incorporate
all
the
programs
available
that
the
college
has
so
that
you
know,
then
it
becomes
much
more
informative
than
the
limited
time
that
she
was
here
before
this
committee,
and
I
think
that
the
way
it's
handled
as
councillor
perez
mentioned
as
a
chair,
you
know
you
could
give
her
her
time.
But
then
there
could
be.
B
You
know
a
motion
to
moving
her
presentation
to
a
workshop,
which
would
incorporate
much
more
people
and
much
more
information
to
have
the
q
a
you
know,
maybe
that
not
everybody
had
here
today,
but
that
the
chair
have
the
discretion
to
call
workshops
based
on
the
public
comments
or
the
proposals
coming
before
the
committee.
A
B
If
I
understand
correctly,
mr
chairman,
I
guess
the
webb
county
veterans
office
needs
a
bigger
space
to
be
able
to
carry
out
this
type
of
well.
A
There's
just
so
many
organizations
that
that
we're
talking
about
right
to
be
able
to
handle
all
of
them.
We
need
a
lot
more
space
than
that.
So.
M
Yeah
so
chairman
quijano,
here
for
the
record
at
the
web
county
veterans
service
office,
there's
a
total
of
seven
employees
at
this
time
being
there
is
it
small?
I
would
think
you
know.
K
It's,
I
would
say
it's
a
kind
of
you
know,
limited
spacing.
E
E
We
just
agreed
at
council
to
to
give
that
space
at
the
library
I
believe,
did
we.
A
We
we
talked
about
giving
the
veterans
affair
to
miss.
I
forget
her
name,
yes,
for
on
a
temporary
basis,
yes
for
one,
I
think
there's
one
day
a
week,
I
don't
know
if
it's
extended
to
more
time-
and
I
know
you
took
care
of
that.
A
That's
that's
one
of
the
the
organizations
that
doesn't
have
a
place
to
be
able
to
so
what
we
can
have
there
are
veterans,
go
to
one
location
and
we'll
have
I
don't
know
what
is
it
15,
17
different
organizations
that
will
be
providing
assistance
to
the
veterans
and
it
is.
It
is
a
colossal
undertaking
that
some
of
our
words
have
taken
to
be
able
to
to
behalf
of
this
community,
we're
very
close
to
achieving
that
and
and
we're
not
perfect.
A
J
To
address
the
council
real
quick
good
morning,
warriors
councilwoman
councilman.
It's
a
pleasure
to
see
you
again,
so
the
one-stop-shop
idea
came
to
came
as
a
topic
where
it
was
in
two
meetings
ago
and
since
then,
we've
been
trying
to
make
it
come
to
fruition.
I
myself
work
with
a
veteran
organization
called
texas
veterans
network
and
the
very
idea
the
very
nature
of
our
organization
is
a
one-stop
shop.
J
That's
what
I'm
trying
to
bring
forward
to
laredo
texas,
that's
my
mission
for
being
here
in
louisville
texas,
and
I
don't
speak
about
that-
often
because
I'm
here
representing
the
vfw,
not
texas,
veterans
network,
but
when
that
issue
came
about
you
know.
Of
course
I
felt
the
urge
and
the
necessity
to
bring
that
up
to
everyone's
attention
that
it
that
is
on
the
forefront.
J
That
is
something
we
are
trying
to
achieve
here
in
laredo,
texas,
step
by
step
via
one
event
after
another,
our
last
one
was
vet
fest
for
laredo,
and
that
was
a
great
monumental
success.
We
projected
a
little
over
300
conservatively
people
in
attendance.
J
J
Now,
my
again,
my
only
mission
here
is
to
bring
light
to
those
organizations
that
are
in
laredo
not
only
that,
but
in
texas,
not
only
that
but
nationwide.
We
have
a
lot
of
organizations
under
our
network,
texas
vendors
network
that
can
provide
so
many
services
for
our
veterans
here
in
mourinho
texas.
So
that's
all
I
want
to
do
here
for
our
veterans.
That's
my
sole
objective
and
I
will
get
that
mission
accomplished.
So,
thank
you.
So
much
and
I
know
miss
isabel
had
some
some
information
to
add
as
well.
A
Well,
she
comes
to
the
podium.
Let
me
just
say
that
since
the
inception
of
this
committee,
a
lot
of
good
things
has
happened.
Every
it
seems
like
every
meeting
every
other
meeting
and
one
of
the
things
that's
happened
is
we're
finding
out
how
many
organizations
are
out
there,
helping
veterans
that
we
don't
know
about
some
minutes.
N
Hi,
so
I'm
with
texas
center
commission-
I'm
not
here
with
texas
affairs
commission,
but
I
have
information
on
that.
So
on
the
one-stop
shop.
The
basic
idea
is
to
get
the
organizations
like
victor,
which
is
a
grant
through
texas,
tennis
commission,
who
are
not
housed
anywhere
else
and
need
a
either
rent
or
house
outside
of
their
grant.
If
his
grant
is
not
education,
so
he
did
get
a
spot
in
the
in
the
college.
N
But
that's
not
that's
not
what
he's
dedicated
to
he's
dedicated
to
all
the
organization,
all
the
different
types
of
organizations
that
he
he
can
refer
to.
In
my
case,
I'm
with
texas
veterans,
commission-
and
I
also
am
housed
at
the
va,
but
I'm
not
a
part
of
the
va.
There
are
organizations
within
the
veteran
community
that
are
not
housed
that
have
information
to
put
out,
and
so
the
one
stop
shop
would
be
for
those
places
we
do
not
want
to
take
away
from
the
locations
that
have
grants
such
as
the
county.
N
The
county
would
be
its
own
thing
because
they're
granted
to
the
county,
and
then
I
believe
mental
health
is
granted
to
the
veteran
peer-to-peer
with
border
region,
is
granted
to
to
mental
health
and
border
region.
So
every
every
grant
is
different.
So
if
there's
for
specific
grants
to
a
location
that
we
don't
want
to
take
away
from
that,
but
the
one-stop
shop,
in
my
opinion,
would
be
for
the
for
the
organizations
that
are
not
specific
to
any
location
in
their
grant.
N
L
Now
I
don't
know
what
they're
going
to
do
with
that
building,
but
that
is
going
to
be
an
empty
building
that
the
county
owns.
Perhaps
we
can
approach
the
webcam
and
ask
them
what
they
can
do
with
that
building
and
if
perhaps
we
can
utilize
it
as
the
center
of
the
one-stop
shop?
That
would
be
an
idea
again.
I
don't
know
what
they're
going
to
do
the
county.
They
have
some
plans
far
ahead
schedules
office.
B
A
Well,
we
we're
going
to
find
a
location.
I
mean
there's
also
a
lot
of
grants
out
there.
You
know
we
will
find
a
location,
but
but
it's
taking
a
little
time,
but
we
have
made
great
strides
thanks
to
all
of
you.
A
Council,
member
penis
has
been
just
outstanding
and
helping
us
out
and
bringing
that
taking
their
word
to
the
city
council
and
and
through
you
with
councilman
torres
and
all
of
the
city
council.
Members
have
done
great
support
for
us
and
we
appreciate
that,
but
we
still
have
a
lot
of
work
ahead
of
us.
We
we
just
began
to
crack
open
the
door.
A
We
just
can't
do
I
think
that
the
veterans
don't
deserve
that,
but
that's
my
opinion
and
now
is
the
opinion,
or
at
least
the
majority
of
the
other
members.
However,
like
I
said,
I
will
move
the
meetings
as
much
as
fast
as
I
can,
but
I
will
not
compromise
when
there's
an
item
on
the
agenda
that
will
help
the
quality
of
life
for
the
veterans.
I
will
not
put
a
stop
to
it
as
long
as
I'm
the
chairman,
but
obviously
I
know
I
can
be
replaced.
C
A
And
that's
and
that's
my
thing,
you
know
that's
why
I
asked
her
to
if
you
could
give
us
a
shout
and
appreciate
you
working
so
hard.
I
know
it
was
difficult.
Well.
A
A
So
big
so
anyway,
that
that
item
has
been
that
much
emotion,
passed
or
was
failed.
Rather
so
we
go
now
back
to
item
number
three.
Are
we
ready
for
item
number
three:
a
discussion
of
possible
action
by
adding
black
widows
ltx
to
the
veterans
affairs
committee
and
any
matters
incident
there
too.
J
Yeah
absolutely
so
last
we
met
the
black
widows
made
their
debut
here
and
it
was
amazing.
It
was
an
honor
to
witness
that
momentous
occasion
the
vfw
would
be
honored
to
recommend
that
they
be
included
in
this
veterans
affairs
committee.
I
know
there
is
a
process,
but
they
are
ready
to
to
accept
that
mantle
and
be
included
into
this
amazing
organization.
This
amazing
committee,
that
being
said,
I'm
going
to
allow
miss
ramirez
a
few
words
of
warriors.
K
N
A
A
C
And
and
add
a
group
and
that,
but
they
weren't.
A
K
E
B
I
think
I'll
second
for
purposes
of
discussion,
but
I
think
that
once
the
committee
approves
it,
I
think
mr
jimenez
can
check
with
the
city
secretary's
office
to
see
what
the
process
is.
B
A
And
we
were
talking
about
another
one
that
I
heard
something
united
veterans,
united
or
something
like
that
is
going
to
be
asking
us
also,
and
I
think
that
the
more
more
organizations
we
have
here
is
what
we're
looking
for
absolutely.
So
we
have
a
motion
on
the
floor
to
accept
the
black
widow's
ltx
discussion.
D
Okay,
I
have
a
question:
have
you
ever
heard
of
this
group
organization?
Yes,.
D
D
N
Yes,
so
the
black
widows
ltx
group
is
not
refrained
from
joining
any
of
the
other
organizations.
I
myself
am
a
part
of
the
american
legion
and
the
lulac
veterans
council
777
as
well,
so
we
are
able
to
participate
in
all
the
organizations
that
are
within
the
community
that
when
we
don't
have
restrictions
to
to
our
group
members,
our
group
members
are
separated
into
two
groups,
which
is
the
women's
veterans
and
our
street
team.
Our
street
team
is
our
supporters
and
our
family
members
and
other
veterans
that
want
to
come
and
join
us.
N
We
do
host
a
a
women's
veteran
social
once
a
month
that
doesn't
mean
that
other
people
in
the
community
that
want
to
support
us
and
talk
to
us
and
socialize
with
us
during
that
women's
veterans,
social,
are
not
welcomed.
This
last
meeting
that
we
had,
we
did
have
a
male
veteran,
join
us,
and
we
also
had
someone
from
another
organization
come
and
approach
us
and
invite
us
to
to
participate
within
their
group
during
our
social.
So,
during
the
social
we
we
usually
what
we
do
is
put
out
to
to
the
women
veterans.
N
What's
going
on
in
the
community,
what
events
are
are
taking
place,
what
what
resources
are
out
there
that
are
are
having
events
or
meetings
or
trainings
or
whatnot
within
either
the
va
or
the
city
or
mr
salazar's
organization?
So
we
are
open
to
everyone.
The
idea
of
this
of
this
group
is
to
get
the
women
veterans
in
the
in
the
community
start
voicing
themselves
as
veterans
and
to
start
participating
in
veterans
event
and
community
events
and
to
stand
tall
and
and
be
recognized
whenever
veterans
are
recognized.
D
N
D
N
I
believe
it's
a
misunderstanding,
so
I
I
did
see
the
newspaper
article
and
that
the
our
president
was
speaking
on
behalf
of
herself.
This
group
had
not
gotten
started
yet
at
that
time.
She
had
participated
in
that
event
and
felt
that,
like
she
didn't
know
any
of
the
other
male
veterans
there.
So
she
did
not.
N
She
was
not
approached
or
did
not
socialize
with
any
of
the
other
ones,
because
nobody
knew
that
she
was
a
veteran
and
she
was
the
only
one
and
that
location
that
doesn't
mean
that
there
was
that
there
wasn't
female
veterans
in
other
locations,
because,
as
you
know,
that
that
service
was
spread
out
throughout
the
city
at
a
very
long
at
a
very
long
distance
that
they
passed
by
with
his
memorial
when
we
were
doing
that-
and
I
myself
participated
in
that
event
as
well.
N
What
she
was
trying
to
state
is
that
out
of
that
outcome,
because
she
felt
that
she
wasn't
included
and
she
felt
that
there
wasn't
other
female
veterans
she
reached
out
to
me
and
other
other
community
members
to
start
the
organization
for
the
black
widows
to
get
more
women,
more
women
veterans
to
participate
in
events,
and
so
that
whenever
they
do
go,
they're
not
feeling
like
an
outcast
or
so
that
they
can
start
meeting
other
veterans
and
other
organizations
and
be
a
part
of
them
whenever
they
do
have.
Events.
N
We're
not
trying
to
to
separate
ourselves
from
other
organizations
by
all
means
any
organizations
that
invite
us
to
to
participate
in
their
events.
We
were
more
than
welcome
to
participate,
of
course,
where
we're
just
getting
started
we're
two
months
in
so
we're
still
trying
to
figure
out
like
not
over
commit
to
everybody,
because,
as
you
saw
already
on
the
newspaper
and
some
other
organizations
already
getting
to
know
us
through
through
the
vet
fest,
so
we're
not
trying
to
overcome
it
either.
D
N
Yes,
sir,
so
like
I
mentioned,
the
only
reason
that
they
feel
outcasts
is
because
whenever
they
do
go
to
an
event,
they're
not
directly
asked
if
they're
the
veterans
sometimes
they're
there
with
their
significant
others-
and
I
myself
have
experienced
it
where
we're
there
and
they're
acknowledging
other
veterans
and
unless
we
know,
like
the
other
veteran,
the
other
male
veterans,
then
they'll
like
they'll,
speak
up
first
and
be
like
oh
she's,
a
veteran
too,
like
shake
her
hand
too,
or
what
not
honor
her
as
well.
But
if
not,
they
tend
to
ask
our
significant
other.
B
B
I
think
that
them
being
part
of
this
committee
will
add
them
to
that
list
of
recognized
organizations,
and
would
you
know,
remove
any
perception
as
a
veteran
here,
mr
alvarez
is
mentioning
and,
and
you
ma'am
so
I
think
we're
taking
the
first
step
into
the
right
direction.
I
commend
councilmember
perez.
B
B
I'm
sure
that
now
marshall
has
been
become
the
point
of
contact
for
many
of
these
events
and
he
ensures
that
the
representation
is
there,
but
also
the
veterans
office
would
would
be
able
to
communicate
that
and
through
through
victory
as
well,
but
to
address
also
mr
oliver
as
his
point.
I
think
that
the
inclusion
right
and
and
changing
the
mentality
of
now
we're
part
of
the
coalition.
B
L
Yes,
thank
you,
so
it
is.
It
is
great
to
have
them
on
board
and
let
me
just
say
that
the
state
of
texas,
just
the
our
governor
two
years
ago,
nominated
june
12
as
texas
women's
veterans
day,
the
only
state
in
the
union
that
has
done
that
to
recognize
women
veterans
on
on
their
day
june.
12Th
is
the
date
that
that
it
is
in
texas,
women's
veterans
day.
Thank
you.
A
There
is
no
doubt
and
we're
gonna,
then.
Thank
you,
mr
lopez.
This
committee
has
been
on
the
record
and
council
member
perez
can
can
verify
that
we've
been
pushing
hard
to
bring
women
into
into
this
committee.
A
A
We
have
no
problems
in
having
your
organization
in
our
committee.
So
with
that
said,
any
more
discussion
or
call
for
the
question.
We
have
motion
to
accept
the
black
widow
ltx
into
the
veterans
committee
of
veterans
affairs
committee
of
the
city
of.
Ladies
and
gentlemen,
we
have
it's
been
a
second
of
motion
in
a
second
by
both
councilmember
torres
and
mr
lopez,
all
those
in
favor
say
aye,
I'm
not
even
going
to
ask
for
a
name.
Thank
you
very
much
and
welcome
to
our
community
motion
to
adjourn
well.
E
Okay,
so,
mr
chairman,
just
related
to
the
the
discussions
that
we
had
earlier
for
the
the
saturday
event
and
the
other
one
I'd
like.
I
would
like
to
make
a
motion
before
we
adjourn
to
have
the
our
pio
office
put
out
some
kind
of
flyer
or
announcement
on
the
city
page
to
let
people
know
about
these
events
that
are
coming
absolutely.
E
We
can
have
them
have
them
do
that,
so
that
we
can
put
out
because
there's
no
flyer
or
anything
and
it
might
get
lost.
You
know
just
the
events
that
were
discussed
today
to
have
our
pio
office
put
out
some
kind
of
information
on
the
city
web
page
about
him.
So
that's
my
motivation.
B
Make
an
amendment
now,
second,
second,
I'll
make
an
amendment
that
if
any
organization
has
anything
for
an
event
that
they
send
it
to
mr
jimenez,
that
way,
he
can
send
it
over
to
our
pio's
office
and
see
the
liaison,
but
also,
if
there's
an
event
that
any
organization
is
putting
together,
and
you
need
that
assistance
of
putting
a
flyer
together
to
ensure
that
the
community
is
informed
that
you
reach
out
to
mr
jimenez.
Whether
po's
office
can
help
you
all
in
putting
those
flyers
together
whatever
it
is
that
you
all
may
need.
C
N
The
only
way,
okay,
so
the
body
check
resource
for
daily
life,
they're
having
a
a
virtual
event
on
webex
tomorrow
and
it
starts
at,
I
believe,
11
11
30..
N
11
11
30
is
overcoming
isolation
with
body
check
day.
11
30
to
12
is
housing
and
benefits.
Resources
12
to
12,
30
is
relationship
and
parenting
and
12
30
to
1
is
regional
break
outs
for
local
resources.
