Description
Minneapolis Public Health, Environment, Civil Rights, and Engagement Committee Meeting
A
Good
afternoon,
everyone
I'm
going
to
call
to
order
the
regularly
scheduled
meeting
of
the
public
health
environment,
civil
rights
and
engagement
committee
for
Monday
October,
1st
2018.
My
name
is
Philippe
Cunningham
and
I
am
the
chair
of
this
committee
with
me
at
the
Dyess,
our
council,
members,
Cano,
Schrader
and
Johnson.
Let
the
record
reflect
that
we
have
a
quorum
on
our.
Can
we
only
have
consent
agenda
today
and
we
have
seven
items.
The
first
is
accepting
a
grant
from
Minneapolis
Public
Schools
in
the
amount
of
fifteen
hundred
dollars
for
the
urban
Scholars.
A
Program
number
two
is
a
is
Commission
on
civil
rights
appointments,
but
I
will
be
moving
to
refer.
This
item
number
two
to
staff.
At
the
request
of
the
Civil
Rights
Department
number:
three:
we
are
authorizing
an
agreement
with
the
CDC
to
host
two
staff
from
the
Public
Health
Associates
Program
in
the
Minneapolis
Health
Department
for
two
years,
beginning
October,
1st
also
to
share
the
one
fellow
will
be
focusing
on
healthy
living
and
the
other
will
be
focusing
on
our
school-based
clinics
and
number
four.
We
are.
A
We
are
accepting
a
grant
from
the
MPCA
in
the
amount
of
$50,000
for
a
three
year
period
to
ensure
a
healthier,
more
environmentally
just
nail
care
industry
in
Minneapolis
by
improving
the
health
and
safety
of
the
industry.
Workforce
I
just
want
to
take
a
quick
second
to
really
applaud
the
health
department,
just
really
being
able
to
go
into
areas
like
dry
cleaning,
auto
auto
body
shops
that
really
make
a
huge
difference
in
our
environmental
health
number
five.
We
are
approving
revisions
to
the
community
participation
program.
A
Grievance
policy
number
six
is
amending
a
council
action
relating
to
the
contract
with
indigenous
roots
in
the
amount
of
80
thousand
six
hundred
and
forty
dollars
in
the
to
conduct
outreach
activities
and
provide
support
to
the
Lake
Street
area
in
other
areas
of
Minneapolis.
For
people
experiencing
homelessness
and
number
seven
is
the
is
a
Domestic
Violence,
Awareness
Month
honorary
resolution.
I'm
gonna
actually
also
be
moving
to
postpone
this
honorary
solution
to
the
October
15th
peace
committee
meeting,
so
that
I'll
actually
be
out
of
town
I'm,
the
sponsor
for
it
and
I'll
be
out
of
town.
A
This
Friday
for
a
very
important
meeting
I
have
to
go
to
so
I
want
to
be
able
to
to
raise
and
praise
the
folks
who
have
done
the
work
and
who
are
doing
the
work
in
the
city.
So
I'm
going
to
be
moving
to
postpone
that.
So
on
those
seven
items
to
any
of
my
colleagues
have
any
questions
or
comments:
councilmember
Cano,
Thank.
B
You
mr.
chair
appreciate
it
an
item
number
six
I
just
wanted
to
highlight
that
it's
a
small
tweak
to
our
collaborative
safety
strategies,
funding
program
with
one
specific
grant
to
allow
the
recipients
to
be
able
to
provide
a
street
outreach
to
folks
experiencing
homelessness,
not
only
along
the
league
Street
corridor,
but
in
the
region
and
in
the
city,
and
so
it's
a
brief
tweak
that
we're
making
and
NCR
has
provided
leadership
on
this.
A
Thank
You
councilmember
Cano
any
other
questions
all
right,
seeing
no
further
questions
or
comments.
I
move
to
refer
item
2
to
staff,
postponed
item
7
to
October
5th,
the
October
15th
piece
committee
meeting
and
move
approval
of
items,
1
&
3
through
6,
all
those
in
favor
of
the
motion,
please
say:
aye
aye,
those
opposed
say
no,
the
eyes
have
it
and
that
item
is
approved,
seeing
no
further
business
before
this
committee.
We
are
adjourned.
That
is
rare.
