Description
Minneapolis Public Safety & Emergency Management Committee Meeting
https://lims.minneapolismn.gov/
A
Good
afternoon,
everyone
today
is
June
26
2019,
and
this
is
the
regularly
scheduled
meeting
of
the
public
safety
and
emergency
management
committee.
My
name
is
alundra
Cano
and
I
am
the
Ninth
Ward
council
member
chairing
this
committee.
I
am
joined
by
my
vice
chair,
councilmember,
Steve
Fletcher
and
councilmembers
Philippe
Cunningham
and
councilmember
Jeremiah
Ellison
as
a
quorum
of
the
committee.
A
We
can
conduct
business
today
and
so
before
us
we
have
the
Kenda
with
two
consent
items,
and
so
all
those
in
favor
of
approving
the
agenda,
please
say
aye
all
right,
so
we
will
go
ahead
and
start
I'm
going
to
add.
Actually
a
public
comment
section
to
this.
So
we,
if
there's
any
folks
here
in
the
room
today,
who
would
like
to
address
the
committee
for
three
minutes
each
please
feel
free
to
do
so.
You
can
come
up
to
the
front
here
state
your
name,
your
organization,
and
you
can
have
three
minutes
absolutely.
B
Thank
you.
My
name
is
Justus
sacani
I
am
the
public
relations
officer
for
inner
hero.
We
are
a
local
nonprofit
organization
committed
to
creating
and
establishing
a
partnership
between
local
law
enforcement
and
the
communities
and
the
way
we
do
that
objectively,
immeasurably
impactful
is
by
programming
and
developing
solutions
in
which
community
can
come
out
and
have
an
opportunity
to
transparently
have
real
dialogue
and
discussions
with
local
law
enforcement.
B
So,
just
yesterday
we
had
a
community
discussion
in
Minneapolis
North
Minneapolis,
where
chief
Rhonda
was
present,
deputy
sheriff
Martin
was
present
and
the
chief
public
defender
for
Hennepin
County
was
present
as
well
as
the
fourth
Precinct
inspector,
and
what
we
were
able
to
witness
was
a
lot
of
dialogue
around
a
lot
of
key
conversational
topics
around
violence
prevention.
You
know,
there's
a
lot
of
activity
today
on
Hennepin
Avenue,
what's
causing
that
and
really
what
it
gets
down
to
the
root
of
his
education
and
informing
and
that's
what
our
organization
is
committed
to.
B
We
will
be
back
here
on
the
17th
to
have
a
formal
presentation
with
you
all
with
specific
outlined
agenda.
There
were
some
logistical
things
that
we
ran
into
today.
So
we
just
wanted
to
create
an
introduction.
This
is
Ambrose.
Harry
is
the
founder
of
the
organization
and
behind
me,
I
have
local
board
members
to
the
organization
chief
Rhonda
invited
us
here
to
have
this
conversation
with
you
all,
as
he's
very
excited
based
on
the
partnerships
and
local
funding,
we've
been
able
to
receive
it's
been
very
things.
B
I've
been
moving
pretty
quickly
and
we're
excited
to
have
the
opportunity
to
share
with
you
what
we're
doing.
One
last
thing
I'll
mention
is
in
Mayor
Fry's
budget
is
2020
20
or
2019.
Rather
sorry,
City
budget,
he
talked
a
little
bit
about
violence
prevention
and
how
they're
going
to
create
an
office
within
the
Health
Department
and
how
they're
objectively
going
to
do
that.
So
we've
met
with
Mayor
Frye
and
we've
started
to
share
with
them
how
we're
going
to
help
support
him
and
his
budget
in
that
effort.
A
All
right,
so
that
is
the
end
of
our
public
comment
period,
so
we
will
go
ahead
and
just
approve
the
to
consent.
Items.
I'll
read
em
off
item
number.
One
is
authorizing
a
revenue
of
revenue
agreement
with
SMG
to
provide
the
Minneapolis
Police
Department
vehicles
for
MPD
officers
during
large-scale
events
and
item
number.
A
Two
is
a
revenue
agreement
authorizing
revenue
agreement
with
the
Minnesota
Timberwolves
for
the
Minneapolis
Police
Department
to
provide
bomb
detection
at
the
Target
Center,
all
those
in
favor
of
approving
the
consent
items,
please
say:
aye
bye
and
with
no
further
business
before
this
committee
we
are
adjourned.
Thank
you.
