Our
elections

of.
E
Thank
you,
chair
ellison,
and
members
of
the
city,
canvassing
board.
My
name
is
grace
waklerowicz
and
I
am
the
director
of
elections
and
voter
services.
The
primary
election
was
held
on
august.
11Th
went
very
well
and
was
historical
in
many
ways
it
was
conducted
during
a
covet.
19
pandemic
saw
a
dramatic
increase
in
absentee
voting
by
mail
and
a
record-breaking
voter
turnout
for
the
state
primary
election
election
staff
worked
diligently
the
past
five
months
to
ensure
all
voters
were
able
to
cast
their
ballot
safely
and
securely.
E
E
E
The
ward
6
special
election
was
duly
held
on
august
11
2020
and
ranked
choice
voting
tabulation
commenced
on
august
14th.
The
winning
candidate
was
determined
in
the
fourth
round,
with
the
highest
votes
of
the
two
remaining
candidates.
The
winning
candidate
is
jamal
osman,
with
a
total
of
2
795
votes.
B
B
Colleagues,
I
don't
see
one
hot
anyone
jumping
in
the
queue
I
do
want
to
thank
our
elections
team
for
the
incredible
work,
ms
walker
lawrence.
Thank
you
for
your
incredible
work.
I
did
have
the
opportunity
to
talk
to
some
of
the
election
judges
on
on
election
day
in
my
ward
and
and
there
had
been
some
concerns
about
like
how
we
were
gonna,
keep
people
safe.
But
time
and
again
I
heard
from
electing
judges
that
they
felt
like
we
were
prepared.
B
I'm
sure
that
there
are
kinks
that
we're
gonna
have
to
work
out
to
keep
people
safe
moving
into
the
general,
but
but
I'd
say
we
did
a
pretty
great
job
and
and
that's
due
to
your
hard
work
and
diligence
and
listening
and
to
the
city
taking
people's
fears
seriously,
as
we
are
in
this
in
this
public
health
crisis
and
this
pandemic.
B
So
thank
you
for
all
that
hard
work.
So
the
draft
order
of
the
canvassing
board
certifying
the
final
results
is
before
us.
May
I
have
a
motion
to
adopt
that
order,
as
presented.
C
B
All
right,
the
clerk
will
call
the
role
on
that
motion.
A
C
B
B
B
Eyes
all
right
did
council.
President
bender
did
I
miss
you
hopping
in
the
queue
I
apologize.
I
know
we've
already
taken
the
roll
call,
but
did
you
want
to
make
a
statement.
D
D
I
think
that
he'll
bring
a
lot
of
great
experience,
working
one-on-one
with
members
of
his
community
to
the
table,
as
well
as
a
lot
of
really
thoughtful
and
hardworking
policy
expertise.
So
I
know
he's
talked
with
many
of
you
and
is
looking
forward
to
talking
with
the
others,
and
I
I
assured
him
that
we
will
be
welcoming
him
to
a
really
supportive
team.
So,
thanks
to
everyone
who
stepped
up
to
help
support
ward
6
in
the
last
few
months,
I
know
all
you
know.
D
Almost
all
of
us
have
in
one
way
or
another,
and
thanks
to
you,
mr
chair.
B
F
Thank
you,
mr
chair.
If
I
might
just
a
moment,
I
wanted
to
express
my
personal
thanks
to
our
elections,
director
grace
waklerots
to
her
crew
of
professional
election
administrators
to
our
entire
team
of
seasonal
workers,
election
judges
and
the
incredible
partners
that
we
have,
which
includes,
as
mrs
walker-roach
mentioned,
the
minneapolis
school
district,
the
park
and
recreation
board,
the
league
of
women
voters
and
all
of
our
city
departments,
all
of
whom
partnered
with
us
to
make
this
primary.
Such
a
success.
F
2020
has
been
described
as
many
things.
One
thing
for
certain
is
that
2020
has
been
the
year
of
elections.
We
started
2020
as
you'll
recall,
with
a
special
election
to
fill
a
vacancy
in
house
district
60
a
and
that
occupied
december
january
and
february.
We
then
went
on
to
administer
the
first
presidential
nomination
primary
in
march.
In
more
than
28
years,
then
we
planned
and
conducted
the
highest
turnout
state
primary
and
our
first
ever
special
ranked
choice,
voting
election
to
fill
the
vacancy
in
ward
6,
all
on
a
single
ballot
during
a
global
health
pandemic.
F
In
the
midst
of
uncertainty
and
extreme
national
partisanship
leading
to
the
general
election.
This
november,
which
begins
early
voting
in
exactly
29
days
so
grace
and
her
team,
have
done
all
of
this,
with
a
consistent
focus
on
voter
service
process,
improvement
and
innovation,
to
ensure
that
every
voter
has
access
to
the
ballot
box.
I'm
incredibly
proud
of
their
achievements.
F
This
year,
I'm
honored
to
work
alongside
them,
and
I
know
that
this
council
shares
that
sentiment,
but
I
just
wanted
to
take
a
moment
to
recognize
their
incredible
and
amazing
performance
in
what
I
believe
has
to
be
one
of
the
most
challenging
election
years
that
the
city
of
minneapolis
has
faced
in
many
many
many
years.
So
thank
you
to
grace
to
the
entire
elections
team.
F
B
Thank
you,
mr
carl,
that
that
praise
is
certainly
well
earned.
I've
seen
one
of
my
colleagues
just
said
the
most
challenging
year
ever
and
the
president
is
determined
to
make
it
even
more
challenging
with
with
some
of
the
fights
going
on
with
usps
but
yeah.
Our
team
has
been
phenomenal.
So
thank
you,
mr
carl,
and
I
yes,
I
would
yes.
B
I
would
like
to
also
offer,
as
the
president
did
on
behalf
of
all
my
colleagues
on
the
city
council,
our
best
wishes
to
newly
elected
city,
councilmember,
oldsman
and
and
thank
all
the
candidates
for
running.
It's
never
easy
to
put
your
name
on
that
on
that
ballot.
With
that
we've
completed
all
items
on
our
agenda
with
no
fur
with
nothing
further
further
to
come
before
us
and
without
objection.
I
will
declare
this
meeting
adjourned.
See
you
all
in
a
few
more
minutes.
Thank.
