From YouTube: A City that works - Blacksmith
Description
Blacksmith Nick Bounds creates custom tools and parts from metal to keep the Minneapolis Water Works Division of the Public Works Department running. His work is a form of functional art that he approaches with creativity.
A
Hi,
my
name
is
Nick
bounce
and
I'm
a
blacksmith
at
the
water,
Eastside
yard.
I
got
they.
Let
it
get
warm
enough,
so
it
could
make
the
cut
I
make
all
the
tools
and
parts
that
can't
be
bought
for
the
jobs
that
we
do
here
at
the
city
of
Minneapolis,
Water
Works,
some
people
think
of
a
blacksmith
as
a
person
that
puts
horseshoes
on
horses.
That's
a
farrier
here
comes,
there
goes
a
blacksmith
is
one
that
creates
tools,
a
lot
of
iron.
A
There
go
it's
an
old
city,
150
years
old
and
there's
a
lot
of
things
that
need
to
be
made
all
right.
Rick
coming
your
way
now.
One
of
the
things
I
do
is
work
with
Rick
and
we
work
on
hydrants
together
right
now,
we're
working
on
a
hydrant
that
we're
going
to
rebuild,
because
it's
old
hydrant
can't
find
parts
for
it
and
the
easiest
way
to
do
this
hydrant
is
to
rebuild
the
inside
of
it,
put
it
back
together
and
have
them
just
screw
it
back
in
to
the
ground.
