harsh
winters,
problems
with
heat
in
your
apartment
can
be
very
frustrating.
You
shouldn't
have
to
shiver
in
your
home
and
pile
on
blankets
to
stay
warm.
Our
report,
inadequate
heat
in
rental,
housing
under
city
code
landlords,
are
required
to
keep
the
minimum
temperature
at
68
degrees
between
October,
1st
and
April
30th
in
residential
housing
between
May,
1st
and
May
15th
and
September
15
and
September
30th.
The
minimum
temperature
must
be
set
at
65
degrees
if
your
apartment
is
colder
than
the
temperature
required
under
city
cold
reach
out
to
your
landlord.

the
issue
is
not
resolved
quickly
reported
to

the
3-1-1
agent
will
ask
you
for
the
property
owners
contact
information,
and
if
they
have
been
contacted
about
the
heat
problem,
the
3-1-1
agent
will
also
ask
your
name
phone
number
and
address
of
the
property.
The
3-1-1
agent
will
then
determine
if
the
problem
has
already
been
reported.
If
so,
they
will
let
you
know,
if
not,
they
will
report
the
problem
to
regulatory
services.
Staff
from
regulatory
services
will
attempt
to
contact
the
property
manager
or
owner
if
needed.

inspector
from
regulatory
services
will
make
a
site
visit
to
the
building,
to
confirm
that
the
heat
is
insufficient
or
to
verify
that
the
temperature
needs
cold.
A
fine
may
be
issued
to
the
owner
for
valid
low
heat.
No
heat
complaint
city
staff
will
respond
to
low
heat,
no
heat
complaints
during
business
hours.

use
ovens
or
stoves
as
a
heat
source,
as
that
could
lead
to
carbon
monoxide
poisoning
for
other
questions
and
information
about
city
services,
call
3-1-1
or
visit
the
city's
website.
